As a PS4 owner I have to ask, what the fuck do you see in this game?

He's literally walking around the forest talking to his son for most of the demo. Combat looks like it's trying to copy Souls way too hard. Like the one geniunely cool thing was when he threw the axe.

The fact that this is actually a direct sequel is easily the dumbest part of the whole thing. I could almost tolerate the new direction if it was a fresh start with a new protagonist. But bringing the same Kratos back for your TLOU: GOW edition?

I have. Story had a serious tone at times like when Kratos killed his family, but it was a backdrop for the over the top gameplay. Ultimately GoW1 is meant to be a fun DMC'like Action Game with tons of violence and bewbs. David Jaffe is a wonderful manchild and he made GoW what it was.

Now its no fun allowed.

No one played GoW because they were engaged with Kratos as a character. He's just the tape holding together the story which provided the backdrop for the ridiculous things you end up doing.

It would've been cool if Kratos died and went to Valhalla, and his son and little cabin was his afterlife to settle down after he killed Zeus but the gods there are pissed off at him and want to kick him out for messing up the world.

I was done with GoW after 3. The story was over and there was no reason to continue it after that. Didn't even touch Ascension because I already had my closure on the series.

That said, 4 is looking different enough that it MAY be worth checking out, but I'll need to see more footage first.

Ascension isn't a bad game and it's a prequel so you still get GOW3's closure. The only thing is that playing it, the series does feel like it hits a wall and was rightfully put down to rest.

Here's the problem. This looks awful.

It was a good game but combos felt like shit because no amount of hitting would stagger even the weakest enemies.

Multiplayer was cool though because it was like gory Smash Bros.

Either works fine if done right, im a fan of heavy impacts cause you can FEEL the hit when it lands on an enemy, and since this is god of war im sure we'll still face mobs of enemies that'll lead to some good combos

Action games are in dire straits, the only one we can be sure is coming out is Nier Automata. We can only hope Team Ninja tries to improve NG3 after they are done with Ni-Oh, or Nintendo to back another Bayonetta.

I really hope after Nier Automata (which looks good), Scalebound (which I hope is good), and Granblue Fantasy, Platinum goes back to what made them special and starts making big budget pure action games again. And then they can start experimenting with action games like they used to.

I just want another NG on the same level as Black, for fucks' sakes. Nothing else in the franchise has come close to that game's level of quality.
