Dark Souls bread.

I'm thinking refined astora GS or BKGA,

Dragonslayer Greataxe has insane damage per hit. Especially if you throw on the lightning clutch ring and use the weapon art. It has split damage, but in this case it's irrelevant because it's so high that damage absorption doesn't make a difference.

Black Knight Greataxe also has massive damage per hit and has warcry, and it has the advantage of not being split damage.

Overall the Greataxe weapon class just has way more damage than any other class, regardless of build

greatswords have less damage than any of the other "large" weapons (greatclubs, greataxes)

I've been using BKGA, but I was thinking if B/B scaling with refined gem would make Astora GS better. I guess not.
As for the Dragonslayer Greataxe, I'm still not convinced about split damage. And I don't plan on changing my rings, especially not to a clutch ring. I guess I'll just have to upgrade it and test it myself.
Also, it just occurred to me as I was talking about split damage, that Astora GS can be enchanted, right? This was a major factor in DS1 endgame.
I'm only talking about PvE, btw.

Split damage is only a problem if the damage is low, because of damage absorption. Once damage is very high, it doesn't matter at all.

So, a split damage weapon that focuses on a lot of weak attacks is shit (Demon's Fists, Dancer's Twinblades, low level elemental infused weapons), but a weapon that does one big hit is great with split damage.

Now, the reason for this is because of the way Defense works. Absorption doesn't matter because it's a flat % reduction on damage, it's DEFENSE that screw you.

The formula is really complicated, but basically if you do damage less than your opponents defense stat, it gets reduced massively, and if you do MORE damage then your targets defense stat, then it stays the same. This effect caps at damage = 8xenemy defense.

The main reason "normal" damage seems much more effective is because you negate their defense with the big hit. But, with a weapon like DSGA, the damage is so high that you can overcome defense with BOTH your physical AND elemental damage at the same time!

Also, keep in mind that even if you only go by the raw physical damage, DSGA is still really good. Even without the lightining damage it's up there as one of the highest damage per hit weapons

>The formula is really complicated, but basically if you do damage less than your opponents defense stat, it gets reduced massively, and if you do MORE damage then your targets defense stat, then it stays the same.
Yeah, I know that. I'm just not sure it would be enough if I don't have that much faith. Actually, remind me, does the lightning damage on it even scale?

Why are whips so shitty? I desperately want them to be good..

I've heard that hair whip was okay for pyro builds.

Yeah, it scales with faith, but the scaling does almost nothing.

Pretty much it works out like this at full upgrade:
BKGA = 695 dmg
DSGA = 583 + 136 dmg
Ultra Greatswords and Greathammers are all going to do around 600 damage, noticeably less than greataxes

handy site here, although infusions don't work properly

>dark souls 3
>per swing damage

enjoy being inferior

whips are for simon belmont style challenge runs only

So how is the DLC? I still haven't even played the main game yet.

We'll get back to you a month from now.

Sheeit didn't know if it came out or not yet. I been so damn busy.

I just got to anor londo and I'm level 60. Been using the uchi but I'm getting sick of it, it is the best shit I have though. What else is good, I'm doing a dext faith build , 15 pts in str.

>I'm doing a dext faith build
I'm sorry.

Why? It isn't too bad, putting lightning on my weapons and having some range is pretty good

Marty? is that you?

>1 shot kill riposte
>2 shot combo kill on low vig players
>1 shot killing annoying enemies
>winning every hit trade

naw, damage per swing is fine

>going into Anor londo at 60

Boi I was 40 when I hit anor londo, quit overleveling, I bet you summoned for Wolnir too

there's a better katana in Anor Londo. Up on the ledges with the arrow spam knights you can grab the Easterner's Ashes and get the Washing Pole from the shrine maiden.

Someone did a dps test and the merc twin swords can produce the highest dps in the game.

Did you skip the Cathedral and Smoldering Lake? Or do you die and lose souls all the time?

That feel when two playthroughs of DS3 and don't feel like ever playing it again.

i legitly suck at this game now after not playing for months then replaying

what are some baby mode stuff?

I cant kill Aldrich
Phase 2 - kindled Gwyndolin - kills me all the time

>and if you do MORE damage then your targets defense stat, then it stays the same. This effect caps at damage = 8xenemy defense.
If your AR is exactly 1k and you attack the hollows before Iudex Gundyr with R1s, you'll actually do more than 1k (like 108X I think).

now that i think about it i gotgud

Wolnir took one try and I beat pontiff sulavan solo.

Is washing pole really better?

Black Knight Sword Best weapon with the art

>dps

They're only viable if you get gud

youtube.com/watch?v=xeAJIWds__Y

ahh yes, whips tools of the git gud bitchboy

>knotched whip + barbed sword
Is this some furry porn video?

I don't know for sure this is the reason, but it's possible to have negative absorption on a player. It's possible those hollow enemies have negative absorption stat.

So it's only good when paired with another weapon? What a shame...

The threaded cane is my favorite weapon in BB, but the whips in DaS are so lackluster compared to it.

Tl:dr, washing pole hit as fast as uchi AND have longer reach, so yeah better. Still my favorite, even in ng++

If I remember, pure physical damage, if you AR is around 488-493, your damage will do exactly that amount with R1s on those hollows, but above I think 508, every attack you do is multiplied by 1.08.

I know because I used CE.

It's longer and it does more damage, so yes. It's absolutely better. It also has a phantom hitbox on it's running attack so it hits farther than it looks like it does, great for PvP to catch runners

haven't played in months have they fixed the covenants yet?
