For Ryu, increase the recovery on some moves to make his links less UNGA. As for Chun-Li, if she has god-tier pokes, she should be all about them, and playing the neutral with them. I'd add recovery to some of her normals, add a height requirement to IAD (or remove it outright), and remove the capability for her to combo with her command normals outside of V-Trigger. Still thinking on the other 3, but Ken's gonna get hit pretty hard by the lower input lag.

Love this game, but hate the aggressive DLC. Can't recommend it to anyone when so many characters are locked behind a paywall and they clearly display those characters on the menu for people to feel bad about.

Chun: height restriction on IA legs (or less hitstun,) shorten the cancel window on cr.mk (getting an SBK ender's damage and knockdown off a 3 frame starter for no meter is crazy.)

Ryu: extend hurt box on j.lk, small nerf to damage, maybe let DP cancel to v trigger on hit but not block

Ken: standardize hitstop on run cancels, expand ex air tatsu hitbox

Necalli: no fucking clue. He's strong but I don't know what to nerf about him.

Mika: fuck if I know. She's like that by design.

By buffing up, and giving more/better options to low tiers. They're weak because of very specific flaws that ruin their potential as a solid character.

It's an average of 6.5 now. Same as SF4 was on ps3, and about the same as KOF14. Not the best but not so bad any more.

lol nope, update fixed an EXTRA frame of lag some controllers were havving, thats right some people actually had NINE frames of input lag, now its been changed to 8 frames across the board.

desu most people dont understand why its shit. 8 frames is only a small problem. shifting emphasis on hurtboxes to startup of moves instead of recovery is whats worse. actual whiffpunishing using reactions is nonexistent because of this.
there are only a few moves that can be reacted to: zangief s.hp, mika full charge dropkick, alex s.hk, maybe vega f.hp. but even if you expect these moves there are times where you miss the punish, simply because the timing is so tight. 8 frames doesnt help there either

Taking an early hold on a genre or type of medium solidifies you as always being relevant.

Capcom is extra lucky, because they as a company, when they didn't suck, produced many of the games people liked and as such, carry a lot of nostalgia with their name brand, street fighter included. The power, as you've seen, is that it allows you unbelievable levels of leeway (nostalgia armor as I have come to call it). It's sad, it is, but that's just how it is. People look fondly upon things they remember from a long time ago, and by pushing yourself on them early in a new medium, and by continuously producing sequels, you make the old people with nostalgia give the new people nostalgia for the later games for even LATER in life. It's an endless cycle.

So whenever you see someone post "first" in a comment section, just remember: He got there first, and that means he will always be the first comment people see. That's Street Fighter -- it sucks, and you hate that guy, but he did get there first, and you can never unsee him.

this, SFV barely meets my shitty standards for what makes a fighting game acceptable but I still have to acknowledge that it's the worst numbered SF game by far.

ST, 3, and even 4 are leagues better. SFV on the other hand is stressful as fuck because you can't win by playing cleanly unless maybe you're a top player playing a character like Karin or Chun.

If you aren't in that boat you have to do stupid shit in neutral or else you risk getting hit with stupid bullshit like forward dash grab or some other fullscreen nonsense that you would be able to punish on reaction in a good Street Fighter game. The game is just a nightmare in general if you play defensively or even with just a footsie/zoning playstyle.

7f delay is still massive not to mention the awful rollback netcode making it even harder to react. Just played a Ryu where I stopped being reactionary and just relied on cheap guess instead. It worked out better. That's what the game promotes. Cheap guesses.

There is a difference between giving concise criticisms that can actually be used to improve the game and incessant crying. Nothing in this thread has been anything but the latter.

Rather than cry, support the words of people that actually matter to Capcom, i.e. tourney players, so that they may have more weight.

Usually it's all about using his solid normals and his Fwd.MpxxFwd.Hp

Urien is solid but he's not the best, just don't let people who put the pressure in. Urien's AA isn't that good when they start crossing you up.

Other than that learn some Aegis Reflector shenanigans/combos.

Also 4 retained most of the ST fundamentals and neutral game while adding characters from the alpha series and third strike while translating them pretty well. It allowed for a pretty diverse spread of playstyles.

SFV is clearly streamlined and zoning, dedicated footsies, and reactionary styles are all at a deficit to rushdown and momentum in general. People like to hail Justin Wong and Daigo as shining examples that you can play SFV like actual Street Fighter but even they don't win entirely off of footsies, punishing, and zoning. Justin still wins off of very good pressure and momentum and Daigo still does things like forward dash grab and keeps his offense going when he has momentum.

SFV feels like a simplified marvel or anime game sometimes.

It hasn't. It's only been reduced for the people that play ps4 with ps4 sticks. Pad ps4 players and PC players are still playing with 8 frames. It's just that stick users on ps4 were probably playing with 9 earlier.

Many of the Third Strike players loved Urien, and they were desperately waiting for him to come out. I wasn't as excited but I'm having a good time with him, some people are not. What's a good training regimen for a casual shitter such as myself? I don't want to play 12 hours a day like Infiltration but I want to at least escape bronze hell.

go into training mode
make ryu do a shoryuken on wake up
block it and then practice your most optimal combo (if you don't know what that is, look it up)

or alternatively, go to training mode
pick chun
make her quick rise with her 3-frame cr.jab
practice your meatys and confirms from it

Also, play who you have the most fun with, as you're not going to have much drive without that factor.
