There wasn't day one DLC.

>1998
>expansion pack
>$20
>actually expanded the base game and made improvements

>current year
>DLC
>$40
>content that was cut from the base game for the sole purpose of reselling it later

The vast majority of DLC is not day one DLC.

>>DLC
>>$40
>>content that was cut from the base game for the sole purpose of reselling it later

Name one.

You're retarded cause expansion packs were cut content retard and cost way more than current DLC

>Expansion pack
>Adds 26 missions atop the 32 you already had
>More units
>More depth to strategy/gameplay
>Practically another game, with a modest $30 price tag

>DLC
>1 'new' game mode (that was promised at release but didn't quite make the cut)
>2 new maps
>The instruction booklet
>$29.99

Expansion packs were always generally shitted on (and weren't actually that common because they didn't sell that well).

The issue is that most DLC is kind of shit and not worth the money.

Destiny's first two expansions.

How can you tell the difference though?

dlc is a problem now because its usually already in the game files or on the disc and you just pay to unlock it

>Destiny

Can we please restrict the discussion to good games that people actually like, rather than weeaboo grindfests?

I'm not going to bring Bejeweled or that facebook farming game into this discussion because I would rather discuss actual games. Please respect that.

biotrash
me3

literally just about anything released by EA and Actiblizz in the last 15 years

>give me examples of games
>those don't count because I don't like them

>continues to name completely shitty titles that nobody played

Please see

>b-b-but those dont count!!

keep moving that goalpost, fuccboi

A lot of them is cut out content.

That's not that common, honestly. What developers generally do is let level designers/artists work on additional stuff for their current game while their next game/sequel is in preproduction as a way of minimising layoffs.

The concept is fine. The problem is how much of it is shit, especially when they've committed to doing it up-front.

>1998
>expansion pack
>$20
>almost felt like a new game

>current year
>DLC
>$50
>lol it's just map packs and some new weapons

Just name an actual game that people actually played. Nobody even bought ME3 to begin with, so why would we discuss it now? It's a dead game and a dead issue.

This is like criticizing Howard Dean's performance in the primaries in september 2016. It doesn't matter, he isn't going to be president. Just let that stuff go.

>completely shitty titles that nobody played
>ME3
>Nobody played

But you realize a big reason why ME3 turned out so shit was because a good chunk of its singleplayer was set aside for DLC, right?

So is expansion packs

>1998
>expansion pack
>$20
>new campaign or several of them, new units, new weapons, new music, improvements in the basic gameplay, map editor

>2016
>DLC
>20$
>new skin, new map, things that would be unlockables in 1998

There's literally nothing wrong with DLC, though. It's just a modern digital answer to post-launch content distribution. What IS a problem is how everyone just saw it as a way to release overpriced bite sized chunks of content instead of, you know, circumventing nightmare that is retail when releasing content you know only fans of the game will buy.

>Destiny
>weeaboo
What the fuck is it with redditors and their obsession with the weeaboo boogeyman?

>redditors

What the fuck is it with Cred Forums and their obsession with the reddit boogeyman?

>boogeyman
The reddit menace is real.

I have no idea, but then again I usually post on Ebaumsworld

I bet your retarded ass can't name one example of an expansion pack just being cut content.

Forged Alliance.

Battlefield (series)
Call of Duty (Series)
Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns
StarCraft 2 HotS Void etc
Forza (Series)
Mafia (series)
Star Wars EA

come on kid are you even trying? lmfao stay cucked kiddo.

Destiny was a decent game until it became a grindfest.
I'm not buying any of their shit though, fuck that.

Literally all of them are

Not a single one of those titles had "day one DLC"

Try again - but this time, give me an actual answer, rather than this horseshit.

This.

Hey dumb fuck, re-read the post: I'll even quote it for you so you won't have to move your lard-ass hand over:
///////
>>DLC
>>$40

Name one.

//////

Dumb fuck. eat my ass faggot. and before you try to stealth delete your bullshit, I'm gonna post it for everyone to see

Just do what I asked rather than...whatever this is. A tantrum? A concession? I have no idea what you're trying to accomplish here.

I asked you to do one thing - and if you can't do that, then simply stop replying. I am not interested in anything except the question I asked you.

Kill yourself.

Expansion packs changes the meta of the game.
DLC is just tripfagging in video games or maximun jewery,.

You didn't ask for day one dlc retard, and yeah the campaign split from starcraft 2 is a pretty blatant example of cut content.

Accurate. Anyone who disagrees with this is must have some kind of day one dlc that they just love and are unwilling to admit is Judaism.

Just name one, and post proof to back it up.

Look, anyone can make up anything. I'll go ahead and make up something about you right now: you are a worthless faggot.

Oops, that one was actually true. Sorry. I'll try better next time. I guess you're not the only person who makes mistakes.

>Expansion packs changes the meta of the game.

Nice delusions, literally just a few copy pasted maps

you got btfo faggot and now youre trying to save yourself

Kill yourself faggot.

2016
>buy from this store to get this content
>buy for this console to get exclusive stuff
>give us all your money now for all our dlc so that you can't pick and choose which ones you want
>micro transactions
>in game currency that can be bought
>day one dlc
>let's rip assets and ideas from the base game and turn it into dlc to sell later, and STILL charge 60 bucks initially.
>early access and betas
>pre ordering and pre order bonuses
>multiplayer only games that charge for more to be added to the already lacking game
>dropping support of vanilla game to work on dlc or sequel instead
>not patching a game, but still adding buyable content

early 2000s
>we just finished this game after years of careful planning and adjustment
>wow we just now thought of a bunch of new things that could make this game any better, let's start developing this content while continuing to support the game

>All these niggerrs defending dlc

Lets just go full meme, paid mods and new console release with no games.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided

You don't think that BW changed the meta for Starcraft? You don't think all those editions of SF4 changed the meta for the game?

I know you are just screwing around, but you can atleast put a bit of effort into it.

Lets go further meme and say expansion packs are different than DLC

Just name one, and post proof to back it up.

You're just avoiding my question because you know that you can't answer it, because no game has ever had day one DLC. That's just a meme that Cred Forums made up to be mad, it isn't a real thing.

>people pretending that all dlcs are the same
baka desu senpai

@353193530(you)
>i was just pretending xd

>paying $3 to start the game with 5 extra items is now "content that can only be accessed by downloading it"

Kill yourself, shill.

@353193849(you)
>hurr just pretending haha xd

Yeah remember how those Duke Nukem 3D expansions changed the meta, oh wait....

>actually defending Street Fighter 50 rehashes

let's go further beyond meme and said that paying for a patch is the future

>items that were cut from the game as preorder DLC
>still release paid day 1 DLC items which you can only use once
>release an expansion pack within a month of the game being released
>calling people shills not shilling

Do you even know what shill means you dumb cunt?

>literally beginning the game with 1 extra copy of a couple items already in your inventory
>"cut content"

Kill yourself immediately.

>1998-2005
>have to spend an hour of time going to game store
>games are $60 months after release
>expansions are $20-$40
>takes 30 minutes to install

>game is on g2a for $40 a week after release
>game with all expansions included is $55
>inflation makes this even cheaper in 2005 dollars
>takes 5 minutes from going to g2a to downloading the game.
>can usually be playing within 10 minutes

You dumbassses are such nostalgia fags.

>Destiny
>weeaboo
literally made by the Halo devs

store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/311730/

Have fun.

Guilty gear xrd revelator
Street fighter five
Street fighter x tekken
BlazBlue

>that paying for a patch is the future

Oh you mean like MK4 Gold on N64

>literally made by the Halo devs

Weeaboos.

What do you expect from some shitty jap game? Asians are thieving motherfuckers.

Let's also focus on the fact that the only game you could find was some shitty boob simulator.

(you)

what did you mean by this i never had this game

>asks for one game
>get's multiple replies
>keeps moving goalposts
An attempt was made. Now fuck off back to flipping burgers in McDonalds, you 2 inched nigger.

>NO ONE PLAYED THESE GAMES BY THE MOST POPULAR WESTERN COMPANIES, DLC IS TOTALLY FINE STOP BEING SO ENTITLED FAGGOT

I highly suggest suicide.

They released a incomplete buggy game so they released it again at full price fixing the bugs

Mass Effect 3 came out a long time ago and it was bad. You can stop shilling now.

>moving the goalposts from "no one played it" to "it was bad"

How much do they pay for you to defend DLC?

>there are people in this thread right now who think that 90% of modern dlc isn't finished by the time the game ships

spbp

>defend DLC

Boy, you really haven't been paying attention.

Kill yourself immediately retard.

OK, I'll get right on that idiot

>1998-2005
>Games are actually good

>2016
>Nothing but console ports

>Forged Alliance.
2007

Try playing those old games. I tried. They're shit.

>1998
>expansion pack
>$20
>hours and hours of content

>2016
>DLC
>$20
>new hat

Le COD mastu rais

COD 1 and 2 were fucking amazing.

>"amazing nostalgic experience that transformed my life"
Ask people in 2034 what they think of DLC if you are bringing this shit as an "argument".

>1998-2005

aside from all the quotes you already have.

Ass creed 2, it had a ingame DLC, and because i was playing as a pirate, i thought it was part of the game, but later i knew that people pay for that shit mission pack.

Yeah because inflation has nothing to do with it. All games should cost $30 too.

>were

Say that about Battlefront.

>continues to list bad games as if this was an argument

What was a game you actually bought?

>the price remains exactly the same
>the content remains exactly the same
>the only thing that changes is the name
>"well, inflation! ya know, economy. dollars and cents, user"

hey dumb fuck your post is a formatting nightmare, and I can only assume you're a fucking turbotard.

>1998 expansion pack
>whole new game's worth of content on top of the base game

>2016 DLC
>bits and pieces of the base game that have been removed, repackaged, and sold back to you piece-by-piece through microtransactions

Don't even try to compare modern DLC to something like Brood War. It's miles apart.

Since when videogames are good?
Try harder fagget.

>Since when videogames are good?

You got me there.

Thread's over, everyone.

>entire pritchard DLC
>not cut from the main game before launch
there's a reason the game feels like it ends halfway

gg thread closed

>stop making sense user! It's too much for my tiny brain to handle.

>Maps packs are now something that's being sold as DLC
>Instead of having user created maps

what about games that have console or retailer specific preorder bonuses for in game content? like gamestop has those all the time.

Those are both completely awful, and not what I made this thread about.

Gears of War 3. The DLC was even on the fucking disc. In a game that shipped with like, 4 maps.

was just asking if it counted as day 1 dlc, since it is downloadable content available from day 1 (albiet for certain people who have preordered it)

thought you were talking about this

You mean Judgement right?

>Current year
>Ebaumsworld

You're like the guys who refused to give up their Betamax even though it's 2004 and everyone has moved on to DVD's or for at very least VHS.

Oh, Judgement pulled the same shit? Even less excited for 4 now. Thanks for the head up
