It's basically the same thing.

The only problem I have with ATB is how all the longer animations will stall the action and cause everyone's ATB to fill up completely. It was exceptionally bad in FFIX when you could stack Auto-Regen and Auto-Haste, which would effectively break the entire game by healing your party to full during animation time.

I think you underestimate just how awful portions of the fanbase are, especially when you consider how many people got into FF with X, or god forbid any of the XIII entires.

Nomura Final Fantasy just makes me weary at this point. Nothing against the guy as a person but the goth emo modern era look just isn't what I got into the franchise for. It's all relative to the return on investment, which dictates how many copies they will ship on first shipment and also dev and marketing budget. This game obviously has low marketing budget which means they don't need that much sales to succeed.

You have no idea how the industry works in Japan and what a fucking colossal industry it is do you?

Everyone belongs to an agency; the agency decides about who to do business with, not the voice actor. No agency would make a contract with a video game company and license their actors for free to regions outside of Japan. That's just counter-intuitive for any business.

Well as an actor you can go solo if you want but it's not a very good idea. Some have tried it because they have gotten tired of the agency's bullshit and wanted more freedom but basically everyone I've heard of leaving their agency has had their career go downhill fast and become a "literally who?" with bit parts at most.

I mean why would a video game company do business with a random person representing themselves when they have no idea what it will be like. It's much easier to do business with the agencies you are accustomed to and have contacts in.

And let's not forget this is Japan, a country that puts overemphasis on "proper conduct" in all things, even a business card exchange is a fucking ritual to them. Bypassing the usual routes managed by who they see as their peers (people of influence in other companies) by hiring solo people looking for work is not "proper". Not to mention not hiring big name actors would hurt sales of your product inside Japan even if a typical foreigner doesn't care whether you have Miyano Mamoru or a random guy off the street.

The MCs can switch between Chibi and Normal. You do this to switch out the stacks you use. Since both are different sizes and would be on different ends of the totem pole.

It's a costs/benefit thing.

You'll get a number on how much it will cost for the license of the jp voices. Then you have the cost of the eng voices. Then you have to estimate how much extra product you'll sell from having English voices, yes normies love not having to read subs even if it's a shit dub.

A lot of the time some agencies in nipland will set the price really high because they think their talent is the bee's knees. So re-dubbing is the better course of action. Very, very, rarely some agencies won't even bother with licensing outside of nipland because of how much bureaucracy they'd have to go through for not that much of a gain.
