2. Sorry for being this mainstream.

I've only played Shattered Memories but it's pretty chill.

Silent Hill 1.
I find it to have the best pacing and balance of everything. Superb game all in all.

I like SM the most out of the western titles, but it really loses a lot of its appeal if you have not played SH1 (and 3), as it´s heavily based on those.

that´s right!

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" is a all-in-one fix, that works as a no-cd crack as well. It is included in the pack.
If you use the NEW fix mentioned in the guide, you can use the sh2proxy's EXE as the no-cd crack!

In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.

SH2-4 do not support Xinput gamepads. Either use Xpadder, a DirectInput pad, or just play with KB+M.

here's the recommended emulator settings for SH1. Works great on all other games too.

The plugins used are:
-Pete's OpenGL 1.78; (more options & better performance than 2.x version)
-Eternal's SPU Engine.

alternatively just use a software renderer for very 1:1 PS1-like graphics, including 240p only.
...OR just buy the game from PSN Store for few bucks.

You could also try the new PGXP emulator, that adds Perspective Correction to PS1 textures.
>inb4 mednafen

Thank you based silent user

>Local game shop has Silent Hill 1 for sale
>Looking to get rid of my WiiU. Not selling for much more than 150 on eBay, and I don't want to risk it getting damaged in shipping

Should I just trade it in and get SH? I could emulate, but I have a nice CRT set up for retro gay man.

I´d KEEP the WiiU, and get the SH1 as well.
Why get rid of a perfectly fine system, that´s backwards compatible with two previous Nintendo systems?

mednafen

My favourites are The Room and Homecoming. I'm well aware that they are usually the most hated, especially Homecoming, but I've always enjoyed them the most. I do a playthrough or two of Homecoming at least once a year although it's been quite awhile since I've played 4. I'll probably one though the majority of the series this October and allow my nephew to watch/play with me.

Trying to reduce the number of consoles I have. I have way too much and want to consolidate everything I own. My goal is to be able to pack everything I own into the trunk of my car (excluding furniture)

Water ending made me tear up a little.

This.

Resident evil threads now have a Dead aim guy doing something... Similar. Odd.

OP! My favorite game is Heather mason, best grumpyfu

such waste. I got a couple dozen gaming machines, with my PC and laptop counted, and wouldn´t give up a single one of them.

The waste is having machine that you don't use too often. It'll get more use if someone else buys it.

true that. Still, my point holds: since WiiU can run Wii and even GC games natively (with a simple softmod), it´d be the perfect Nintendo system to own out of all those three.

Guise, when i finished SH1 i got the car crash ending ;_; but when i played SH3 it was so easy to get good ending, I did it by just playing. What gives?

mfw i found harry had made it, only to watch him die again canon, in SH3 ;_;

I think my favorite would probably be 3.
It has this very particular atmosphere that I felt very strongly. A creepiness that somehow felt close to me and even comfy at times. Especially at the start, like immediately after the nightmare, the mall, and the journey home. (Funny enough, all the stuff before actually going to Silent Hill). Plus, Heather's my waifu.

hopefully inb4 NesFag comes in and says "homecoming" with 3 full posts as to why

also: SH1 is the best all rounder

>this figure costs more than 200 bucks
true suffering

>What gives?
simple: SH3 has mere 3 ending, out of which two are notably harder to acquire, as they require very specific actions to be triggered. Literally nobody gets anything but the "good" (=true) ending on their first run in SH3.

To get the Good ending(s) in SH1, you need to finish the short sidequest in the South Park area, before heading to the docks and lighthouse. Many rookies seem to miss this, and just run straight down south.

Such a fucking shame you played 3 before 1...

Torn between SH2 and SH3. But since SH2 is meme mainstream level loved by normies, i vote for SH3.

SH2's environment feels very lonely and solitary, but SH3 just nails the hellish industrial environment which Silent Hill always strived to be.

4 is my favorite one.

I really hate newfag, he seriously shits up so many /vr/ threads.

Silent Hill 2

That's nostalgia talking though. When SH1 first came out it blew my mind, but compared to some of the games after that it really hasn't aged well at all.

Usually I hate people who say visuals make or break a game, but with a horror game like Silent Hill that relies so heavily on visual horror it's pretty important. Look at this screenshot - you flat out can't tell what's going on.

That being said, Silent Hill 1 with the visuals of pretty much any Silent Hill from 2 on would be pretty stellar.

Dude makes a mean Shadow Warrior map though

Silent Hill Downpour is a more enjoyable video game than Silent Hill 4

>Funny enough, all the stuff before actually going to Silent Hill

The best parts of SH3 are indeed outside of Silent Hill. The hilltop center is my favorite part. The hospital is cool and all, but that shining effect they used on the 3rd floor was a little bit exaggerated, thank god they only used it in that corridor specifically.

Even my first playthrough, SH3 felt like a bad joke. None of the enemies in the game are even mildly unsettling, I thought all all looked and behaved stupidly. The only enemies that are even challenging enough to even be called a nuisance are the fuckers that crawl on the floors, and the enemies that are modeled after the boss that kills Harry, and that's only because they move faster than most enemies.

This. I loved SH1 when it rolled out the first time, but looking back on it now I actually wish the game just used sprites. It's part of that awkward PS1 period where developers wanted to use polygons but refused to admit that the technology was still at the point where it just looked like shit.

Actually SH1's visuals do help it to some extent, because your brain is basically trying to fill the rest with imagination. It's like looking at some artistic painting.

SH3 is filled with crazy imagery that doesn't make any sense, despite the PS2's much more powerful GPU. So it's what Team Silent wanted all along.

Yeah, the Hilltop Center was good. I think it was specifically this feeling of being somewhere you're not supposed to, like these buildings after closing hours, the employee's only areas. I loved that, it captured that very well.

Fucking love listening to the SH2&3 OSTs at this time of year. They were just made for October, y'know?

I start a new job at the end of next month as well. Think I'm gonna treat myself to the Bubblehead Nurse Figma. Anyone got one? How are they?

I've nothing against him PERSONALLY but he needs to cut down what he says by half. It's a legit chore to cut through the superfluous garange to get to his points.

>That's nostalgia talking though

It really isn't. I play a horror game for the horror. And Silent Hill nails fear and dread better than its predecessors. 2 was just bleak and 3 was a poor man's 1.

1 had me actually RELIEVED when a lock was broken.

This. It even has freckles n shit. Want.

Shame it looks like it has a coldsore though.

Either way, Heather and Eileen, top tier waifus. Dem freckles, mang.

I enjoyed Homecoming too, user. You're not alone.

But you should be, for the good of mankind, if nothing else.

I agree with this, the technical limitations work in SH1's favor. There are several things that you can just barely make out what they're even supposed to be. So your mind paints up this picture which is even more unsettling than what the developers could have managed on their own.

And it isn't nostalgia talking either, I played SH1 second to last of all the main games, and I first played it as an adult. But the none of the imagery in the other games unnerved me as much as the flickering, low-poly models in SH1.

SH1 is my pesonal favorite in the series.

I didnt, played 1 on PSN then went and got SH3 on PS2. Fuck hunting down a physical copy of SH1 in the uk.
Am glad though, SH3 is now one of my GOAT games.

i then bought SH2 for my PS2 and have not yet played it past encountering the first enemy. I must commit to playing it sometime soon.

I also enjoyed my playthrough of Homecoming and Downpour. Not masterpieces by any means, but I enjoyed them on their own merits.

This!
Yfw you realise you like cute in the guise of plain, imperfect grumpy girls with an attitude.
i bet Heater would be a h-hot sweaty m-mess. This is an official render. Konami, y u do this 2 me.

Fellow britfag here, I still have my copies of 1-3 from when they first came out.Only classic game I don't have is 4 and I'm okay with that.

The one that has yet to be topped as the GOAT survival horror game. I'm listening to the ost now. Which is best in the series.

youtube.com/watch?v=I4J2gBFiM0A
>33:07

>GOAT

But it has shit gameplay.

Okay enough to work =/= good

>shit gameplay

GTFO casual scum. People like you are what has killed this genre. It's all subjective. That style of gameplay works very well for the game.

If ShatMems is to be believed (it isn't, but you know what some people are like), she was a total hellion who'd regularly get wasted and get gangbanged at parties.

SH3's Heather is far better - snarky, tough, willing to take zero shit from anyone. Punk Dahlia and rock chick Dahlia (who may as well be alternate skins for Heather) are hot as hell though.

3
But its an hard decision. 2 had the best song:
youtube.com/watch?v=WShknpNpHbY
just listen to the transmission between noise and harmony...
overall 3 had the best ost and therefor the best atmo.

This does sound pretty good.

Silent Hill 3 scared me the most out of all the games (because it aimed at teenagers and their fears, which was my age when i played it)

Silent Hill 2 overall is my faourite though.

I didn't get to play 2 until years after its release, by which point, it had been discussed to death. By comparison, I played 3 not too long after release. Probably why I enjoy it more than the second game.

Silent Hill 1 because I find that unlike 2 and 3, it has no weak moments whatsoever. Solid from start to finish.

Is 4 the start of no good?

This still kicks around the UK and can cost loads. Easier to buy em seperate. Seen it a few times on shelves tho.

None, they're all overrated crap, none of them are scary, the plot is idiotic, the blue grass music sucks, the art style is shit, the fanbase are autistic, the puzzles are crap i.e. HURRR I NEED A LIGHTBULB, BETTER FIND A CAN IN THE KITCHEN AND USE A CAN OPENER, DURRR, LIGHTBULBS INSIDE!

BAIT!

HARDCORE BAIT!

HE'S GOING ALL IN!

You mean shattered memories user? Where can i play this for "reasons" PS2?

Hehe... You dont say.

god please, please this it would be brilliant, and make the her actually more interesting, to think you play her SH3 post Harry intervention trying to lead a better life. Tfw Heather lets two boys her age explode over face because "Fuck you dad!"

>not buying your lightbulbs in prepackaged cans
This fag

1 and 3 are a contained story, and great.

2 is GOAT for standalone.

I personally really like 4, but it tried to be way too innovative and some of the ideas were terrible. After having dealt with Homecoming, Shattered Memories, etc, I enjoy 4 way way more.

It also has some good spooks in it.

>giant head room

4 was great. but compared with the earlier silent hills, was the worst. Also the fucking immortal ghosts and the constant use of the same areas, made it a bit boring :/

>it also had some good spooks in it

Fear, is losing control of a situation.

Nice, i hardly ever see Silent Hill threads. Will make a nice inbetween until the next RE thread, but will there be connelly posting here too?

How did they do it anons? What magic did they use that this character model from 2003 in real time looks better than some PS3 models today?

She is perfect.

"Dad, oh i forget to get thing you asked..." WHAT WAS IT?

I'm in agreement user. Best out of all for sure

There is a huge focus in the face detail. The facial animations are amazing for 2003, but you can tell that the environment or the character's body models are very PS2 tier.

Do you think they used a face model?

There is no way the used motion capture on her daft running animation, thats for sure.

It's easy enough to emulate, from what I've seen, the PS2 version goes for a fair amount. PSP and Wii are cheaper and possibly easier to emulate.

You take pictures of 'memories' (images that unlock pics and dialogue) that feature a girl going off the rails in a Lindsey Lohan style. It's heavily implied that all of that happened to Heather when she was a teenager. They've flip-flopped on whether or not it's canon to SH3, but general consensus is that it's stand-alone, so feel free to work that in to your delusions as you will.

4 was the start of some dumb trends, like limited inventory, breakable weapons and so on. The second half being a retread of the first and an escort mission, along with the heavier focus on combat did it no favours either.

The VA for Heather is just listed as 'Herself' IIRC, so it's entirely possible they did. I've never seen anything to back that up one way or the other though.

best waifu coming thru

They did actually. Mocap was still quite premature back then, plus the PS2 couldn't process anything too elaborate anyway.

>The process was quite elaborate. Every day, I would be dressed all in black tight clothes and then dozens of motion sensors, which essentially looked like little silver ping pong balls, would be attached to my body and head. As I said, we spent the first several days just focusing on small movements, walking, running, arm and head movements, and breathing. It was essentially a tedious warm up to the more physically demanding parts like climbing scaffolding, jumping off various height objects, and fighting with monsters of all shapes and forms. Some of the necessary movements were harder to capture than others. And we used several different techniques for making the movements realistic. I have a specific memory of having one of the members of the creative team wrap a bungee cord around my leg and pull me from a low angle to simulate a dog tearing at my thigh. (see image below. click to enlarge)

Thanks familia. I needed something to listen to at work. Do my co-workers think i'm weird?

If anyone asks, just tell them it's Nine Inch Nails or a movie soundtrack or something.

Silent Hill is a game series for pretentious hipsters, who like to think of themselves as intellectuals for "understanding" the "deeper psychological horror" of a "highbrow" plot about muh inner demons/something something maternity that leads to nowhere which they defend as "2deep4u".

4/10, you might get someone. but c'mon son

its always nice to see how much effort and love went into the game back then.

wonder what happened to the devs from the earlier games.

Went to other companies or were harvested to feed the unholy pachinko beast

Silent Hill 3, cutest main char, would fug.

thats a shame

no abhorrence comes close the pachinko

>Such a fucking shame you played 3 before 1...
What?

2 & 3, and I must admit that I actually like homecoming, despite much of it being silly.

what's your opinion on this?

>comfy
agree completely

Not just a bad Silent Hill, one of the worst games I've ever played. Ignore the sprawling maps filled with fuck all, ignore the breakable weapons, forget the fact that you can somehow hide 38 TV sets in a bodywarmer, the story falls apart when you realise there is literally nothing keeping the main character in the town bar his own stupidity. Nothing. He has no reason to stick around, but he's determined to wander around this hellscape for no goddamn fucking reason. People give Homecoming and ShatMems a ton of shit, but compared to this, they're monuments to man's greatness.

I just like spookiness user, i was looking for an alternative to the lack of classic resi beimg released. I also lile project zero/fatal frame too.

[spoilers]cuties help too[/spoiler]

Silent Hill 3 was pretty dope! I enjoy most of the games from the series.

I liked Crimson Butterfly

>The mall after you beat the giant worm
Top comfy

>think of themselves as intellectuals for "understanding" the "deeper psychological horror" of a "highbrow" plot about muh inner demons/something something maternity that leads to nowhere which they defend as "2deep4u".

Only mainstream normie fanboys think this.

Hardcore fans know the true nature of the plot and how deep it goes.

it's a shame you can't get Downpour on Steam, would love to try it, if nothing else.

youtube.com/watch?v=Q_e8abf_Tds

I don't remember much about it, bar the end theme for the good ending and the fucking Kusabe. Maybe I should hook up the old PS2 and take it for a spin next month.

I second.

3 is mine. I find it more interesting and frightening than 2. I love 2 but the weight of what James did has kinda gone away for me. I'll never not feel the weight of seeing Harry in that chair.

CIRCUMCISION SYMBOLISM

"Best played with headphones."

Well they were not wrong. All those recordings using the medium stones...

1&2 they're very different. Last winter I'd tell you 3 is my fav, recently replayed first 4 and didn't like 3 at all. The graphics is still awesome but everything else is just meh. It's more like a regular horror game while 2 was very intimate and melancholic and 1 was something new and actually showed the descend into madness it was whole and complete. 3 looks more like a series of untied episodes. It's still a good game tho. And 1 has flying dinosaurs on the other hand. 4 was shit. I don't know why suddenly lots of people love it now.

are there any horror games that can even come close to the SH games?

You're not missing much. Sure playing it at 60fps and instantenous loading would be nice, but after you play it once, you never wanna to touch it again.

It's not like SH 1-3 where you wanna keep revisiting the game's places.

slender

4 was very creepy and rather unsettling in its strangeness which I think people missed at first... going back to the same place, weird offsetting creatures... none of the other games were as similarly strange, and no game since...

I thought the Evil Within was pretty great, had some jaw dropping art but was a lot less psychological

good to know.

I'm a bit split on it. There are parts I like, and parts I hate.

user I don't watch horror movies, I was scared by resident evil 3 as a kid and there was literally nothing scary about sh4. And I first played it when I was 15 so I was even more chicken than now. Ghosts of bums farmers and british chavs in tracksuits oh let me change my pants. If this game didn't have the name sh on it it would be destroyed and long forgotten.

>4 was shit. I don't know why suddenly lots of people love it now.

To enjoy 4 you have to be really immersed in it. It is a really weak game overall.

sorry it was garbage. and in no way similiar to the kind of horror SH had.

I would say soma and amnesia. Not saying that it is the same kind of horror. but it comes closer then any other recent game imo.

From the psychological horror aspect? No.

ayyyy but that's wrong tho

recently played silly hill 1 a year or two ago on an emulator where the fog world had white squares over every character model, and I still enjoyed it the most of any other silly hill I've played

before that, I always got stuck in the school.

anklebiters too spooky for me

I'm with this user SH4 was weak pham. Started strong and just went downhill from there.

This...he had aged so much as well.

Harry had a hard life.

>Masahiro helping even in the motion capture

Is there anything this man can't do? Masahiro do everything, from designer, to helping in the writing of the script to even helping in capturing the perfect animation.

Good games take a lot of love.

What;s he doing nowadays?

Listening to all these today. Thank you!

The fact that he (presumably) wasn't waking up every night, screaming in terror as a result of his experiences in Silent Hill (he seems to have provided Heather with a reasonably normal childhood) is a minor miracle. Harry is one of the most underappreciated heroes out there.

that's a shame.

Anything that comes close design-wise, then? I can usually overlook a terrible game if I like the design of it.

The room was great, the apartment... unending spiral stairways... so was the final hotel setting... the strange pointing monsters, the apes, weird visuals (a giant Eileen head), looking through keyholes and seeing different things, I really, really enjoyed it. The ghosts were annoying but I just loved the weirdness of it all.

Would you ?

frictional games: amnesia, amnesia 2, soma, (+Penumbra)

Would I!

He was the bravest boy back in the day.

I'd rather have pyramid head. He's bara as fuck.

i'm not into ants

Maybe the Fatal Frame series.

For psychological horror Eternal Darkness for the Gamecube was pretty good. If you can find a copy online you can emulate with Dolphin.

For newer style go with this user Also there is Outlast but thats first person.

post rare fanart

I always enjoy the TRSHE retrospective on this games. Shame they get shit on by the SH wiki fans cause they refuse to accept post-Team Silent games as canon.
youtube.com/watch?v=G7phu5XNKwg

PT

...

Ey bruhs? If this thing is so bad, why does it still fetch a high price on the shelves? Even more tham actual PS3 silent hill games.

I already have SH2 (orginal) and SH3 on the PS2. Is it worth picking this up on PS3 just for trophies and to see what the fuck they did to it?

I dunno, I liked 4, it was a pretty fun game. you can tell it clearly wasn't meant to be a silent hil but it was still a pretty enjoyable title with a lot of interesting things, but then again the farthest I got was either spookery goast graveyard or some sort of cylindrical spinning prison

also fun stuff about harry mason, he was apparently a best-selling author who wrote a book about how gun control doesn't work and how it would help criminals if guns were banned

?
Literally nobody view the post-Team Silent games as canon.

only if you are a masochist.

emulate on the pc for the best sh experience

>a giant Eileen head

This was just silly and not Silent Hill at all.

Yeah Eternal Darkness emulates really well on latest dolhins. Also call of cthulu dark corners of the earth.

>Shame they get shit on by the SH wiki fans cause they refuse to accept post-Team Silent games as canon.

It's because SH wiki fans want SH to be MUH PURGATORY and MUH SINS.

I wanted head from Eileen...

Honestly, if it DIDN'T HAVE Silent Hill in it's name, it would have been MUCH MUCH MORE well-received. People would probably talk about it as one of those games that proves how much more interesting PS2-survival horrors are than modern indie horrors.
I think it would have gotten the same status as Eternal Darkness and Haunting Ground if it didn't have Silent Hill in its name.

>Shame they get shit on by the SH wiki fans

Ignore those clowns completely, including the wiki. It's been proven time and time again that the people running the site are mentally unhinged.

I think it was the site admin or one of the main editors that went completely batshit and started posting what he believed to be "circumcision symbolism" in various SH games.

The boss in Silent Hill 3 has a giant Alessa-head. It fits

I fucking hated it when they replaced him in the film with OC "Mary De Silva" because the director thought it was "unbelievable that a Father would go through so much to save his child. I believe it is more suited to the role of the Mother".
Pretentious dickhead.

I love that they modelled his head. We're never meant to see that, his face is purposefully off frame throughout the whole game (As are other human corpses)

...

Lol no. I remember reviews when it came out and everyone was well...it's silent hill after all I guess so...It's worse than previuos silent hills, it's worse than eternal darkness, it's worse than clock tower series it's a bad fucking game on par with obscure or cold fear but with interesting story and great music. Nobody remembers or gives a shit about obscure.

...

First time walking up on pic related.

>playing SH2 with friend
>he's not into horror games and says they aren't scary
>pic related happens
>he nopes the fuck out
>have to play through alone at night

Good times :)

I enjoy the movie on its own merits, but agreed 100%. Having a father go through literal hell for his daughter - up to and including killing a god - is something that's rarely ever seen in any medium. I defy anyone to tell me how Sean Bean as Harry Mason, tearing up the Otherworld would not have been a great movie. A shorter movie, maybe, but definitely a better one.

Silent Hill 1 is the most scary.
Silent Hill 2 is the most comfy.

...

SHWiki do. They try to apply things from post-games to old games. Like using Downpour to explain the other world as purgatory (despite that not making any sense for the first four games) or that God awful "book of memories" shit.

yeah I hated that too. That was one of the big things that made me love Silent Hill. I wasn't running after some girlfriend or something shallow like that, I was trying to rescue this one kid that was mine and no way could defend her self out there. Made the game so much more interesting

Are rhe games in the links with updates from the pic or same old versions from last year?

>comfy meme

I dunno about that but I can list off a bunch of spookery horror games I've tried and enjoyed before

in terms of really cheesy horror you got the RE series, overblood(overblood 2 is more of an ff7 ripoff), countdown vampires, and deep fear

then you got goast games like the fatal frame series, you've got japanese goast zombies in siren, space moon ghosts in echo night beyond, and space mars possession goasts in martian gothic

then you got games where you're being chased around something for reasons, be it your womb or just bad luck like the clocktower games and haunting ground

then there's rule of rose which is just 1930s blimp shenanigans feat. murder imps and asshole children

then you've got games centered around the thing like the thing game and extermination

probably a bunch of other games like the suffering, RLH, and a bunch of others I'm forgetting
also, tfw sold sh1 because I wanted money to buy dumb shit as a kid, now I can't find a copy of it for under $30

I love when TRSHE call them out for being CITATIONLESS (same video I posted).

They literally just list a bunch of films, some out after the games, and link them as inspiration for the most banal things.
>"Though there aren't a lot of similarities, there is a scene with an empty wheelchair in a hallway... sound familiar?"

I know user, I hate buzzwords and memes but I have not other way to describe it. Silent Hill 2 makes me feel really comfortable. I dont know why.

Silent hill 3 is?...
cutest

You remember it incorrectly.
If it has Silent Hill in its name, it automatically gets compared to previous games, especially Silent Hill 2. I remember Walter and the cult being super-hated among reviewers because they thought it was getting silly.

They also had one of their main mods go on a rampage, editing everything to be about foreskins and circumcision. And I mean EVERYTHING.

Their videos on the HD collection was glorious. The dude in charge of the HD collection got so salty about it he made fun of them in a note in Book of Memories and kept pestering them on twitter about it.

Hmm.... The orginal clock tower...

Rule of Rose's gameplay sucks but the story's a good one.

>Clock Tower

You're alright user.

Thanks famalam senpaichichi. Neo-Cred Forums has become such a rude, entitled and unappreciative place due to most of neo-Cred Forums being Y2K born fagglets who all came from Reddit and Tumblr that no one even says a simple "thanks" anymore.

I don't get it.

Anyone who calls you out for 'spoonfeeding' can suck a dick. Being nice to folks never goes out of style, especially when it comes to sharing the wealth.

I don't know why some one doesnt just up and make a proper Silent Hill wiki

I can get behind the gameplay

it's not the worst I've experienced

the worst I've experienced so far has to be martian gothic but one of the scenes you get close to the beginning of the game more than makes up for any shortcomings

that fucking game dialogue holy SHIT

youtube.com/watch?v=m_p8a0lN9dk#t=22m45s ignore the dude's shitty voice, this is absolutely amazing

You played clocktower 1 user?

Also

>not knowing about connelly posting in Cred Forums threads

Take your shitty memes somewhere else son.

I think clock tower was a rip off of some horror movie Connelly was in, im pretty sure sccissors kid is based on this monster

classic stuff

Obscure was OK. There's a sequel too.

Does Manhunt count as horror?

It's one of the tensest games I've played. You can fuck with the AI easily, but your first time through, fuck.

Ignore the sequel like the plague though, it's the worst kind of shit.

Heheheheehhe

Is Obscure 2 any good?

I bought the first one on Steam but never bother finishing it, all the enemies were just such gigantic bullet-sponges it took all the fun out of the game. I finally gave up in the basement complex, right after the first boss.

Me and a friend went through Obscure 1/2, I loved it, felt like RE/Silent Hill fused
ye

in a kind of "man is the enemy" horror but that would make things a bit confusing because then someone might consider something like hitman horror

it's a middling ground between action with a tiny, tiny sliver of horror like serial sam and dunk nunkem or halo and gears of wears, I guess

probably in the same spot as condemned where most of the spooks come from hobos

Talking about Manhunt? 'Cos yeah Manhunt 2 blows.

You have to download the updates separately.

Yeah, should've been more specific. Manhunt is like a classic brutal 80s action movie with plenty of mindless violence, but it's better than people give it credit. Manhunt 2 is the worst kind of try-hard edgy gorefest. It's like Manhunt is the original John Carpenter Halloween while Manhunt 2 is Hatred.

ikr

>kill a guy in Manhunt
>ice him in the hardest way possible because it's dangerous out here and I can't afford to screw around

>kill a guy in Manhunt 2
>lol nigga let me rip this guy's nuts off and stick them in his eye sockets and do a backflip before you tell me how fly I am
>aight you can tell me now

Don't forget the twist that anyone with two working neurons could've seen coming about 2-3 stages in.

silent hill 1 fucking love that game!

Homecoming had no options to invert the camera controls, that's mostly all I remember from from sole playthrough because it was so constantly infuriating.

3, just. Fuck Shakespeare though.

Ive always liked sh4 (I know it gets a lot of hate) but theres something about it that appeals to me, thanks to this it explains a lot

4 isnt a masterpiece but its definitely a cult classic

Reminder that SH Link user unironicaly defends ZSNES in the current year.

1 > 3 > 4 > 2

shattered memories, as far as I've seen, is the only non-numbered title worth a shit, and even then the chase sequences get tiring quick.

I adore the movie and don't care for any of the games. What is wrong with me?

Currently playing through it. Pretty fun. Just has some weird design choices scattered everywhere.

Interesting video.
Made me think about how when I first played SH4, I rented it, I hated it and thought it was the worst game in the series. Then years later, I bought it and replayed it a couple of times and I eventually just grew to love it and appreciate it even more. It's definitely not a game you play once and it's definitely not an easy game to get into to. But that just makes it all the more special in my eyes.

I have one as well as a pyramid head. They're really detailed and well worth it of you're a fan

Silent Hill 3.

>> is a game series for pretentious hipsters, who like to think of themselves as intellectuals for "understanding" the "deeper " of a "highbrow" plot about muh /something something maternity that leads to nowhere which they defend as "2deep4u".

Loved the locations and sets of the film

First game set the tone and mystery perfectly. It's hard to top for me, honestly.

2 was a decent side-story, 3 was a decent continuation of 1, and 4 was a neat idea that probably should've been its own IP.

Meh about the western-made games, kinda don't feel too SH-like aside from maybe Origins.

I WANT TO HOLD HANDS WITH HEATHER.

Licking Heather's dirty feet!

Im glad you spoilered that shit user.

Id like to fuck her in the vagina, if you get my meaning.

here's what I want to see

Regina, Rebecca, Heather, and Aya, all in some sort of human centipede ass-eating circle

that's what I'm talkin about

heather's a pure maiden, I'll have you know
she only does anal like all pure maidens

sh2 on PC is still shit because shit audio, play the greatest hits / directors cut ps2 version if you dont want the audio to sound like its coming from a walkie talkie.

I made it most of the way through Project Zero 1 but I got bored. You've seen all you have to see in terms of scares after the first 45 minutes and the gameplay becomes repetitive. Started playing 2 and it was exactly the same so I only got a small way through the second. Not a fan of them.

So does that new FMV pack in the wiki work with the new Widescreen patch? It used to have a note that it was incompatible.

This is fucking dark user...

but probably how shit should go down for more protags, mfw a gun like this is fired in real life would also cause the air to fill with smoke, but you never see this in tv or vidya
