Because of how DT works any gun with rapidfire is fucking terrible so usually you'll be using a rifle anyway and picking off targets before they can get to you, reload or not.

I played a martial artist who was out to prove he was the toughest man in the wastes. Decided to help House since he set me up with a casino suite and had me dug out of my grave. That was my first character pretty generic but boxing all my enemies was fun as hell it's awesome boosting your attack speed as high as you can and slowing time with turbo or the grx implant. It's so satisfying punching people into the sky and then continuing to punch them while they fly.

Everyone played cowboy when they found .357 revolver or Lucky for the first time. The reloading animation alone makes the gun extremely satisfying to use.

But my main character builds were
1. NCR sniper
2. Sneaky junker with hunting shotgun
3. Agile and slutty but not so bright merc. With shotgun again because it's hard to go back to any other weapon after using that baby.

No matter which character I play I always go for max luck though, can't live without it.
In first fallout games one of my favorite builds was Jinxed slut with flamethrower and power fist, but sadly both flamer and melee feels like total crap in NV and Jinxed is not even a thing anymore despite game having jamming and weapon breaking features.

skill points gained per level is 10 + (INT/2). If it's an odd number like 11.5 then the remainder is carried over at the next level instead.

as for perk requirements you tend to want to have minus 1 of what you would normally need and then just get the implant for it later. Also Charisma is absolutely useless and you should always have it at 1. The reason for this is that you can just put skill points directly into Speech and Barter anyways.
