What are your other hobbies outside of gaming, and how did gaming influence you to start those hobbies?

I am a bee keeper. I have always been fascinated with bees, and now, every time I go out to check my bees, I am reminded of the bee hives in Banjo Kazooie, and how they always spooked me a little.

Pic related. A carniolan worker that came back into my house with me today on my pant leg.

Have you tried Ant Sim for the Super Nintendo?

>tfw colony collapse disorder
>no more honey bees
>no more free pollination of fruits and trees
>have no hand pollinate like that shitty part of China that literally exterminated their natural honey bee bros thanks to pesticide abuse

My neighbor is a beekeeper. In the spring the friendly bees come to drink from the puddles that form near my porch. Once summer sets in they're all but replaced by wasps and fucking Japanese giant hornets.
>Pic related, out of focus bee surrounded by cherry blossom petals.

How do I into beekeeping?

I write music
I should like to own a Les Paul someday

thanks flight sim

Thats a beautiful carniolan lady.
Its easy to get into, as long as you have the dedication to go out and do your duty to help them, and dont get mad when you spook them and they sting you.

Iaido + kendofag

I blame Chinese cartoon games for making the katana look cool and invincible.

I had a colony of wild russian honey bees self-collapse by killing 2 queens. They just had no will to live.

What can I do against the Japs? They're an uncommon sight, but those bastards are the size of hummingbirds and they murder honeybee hives like pros.

Hornets are always going to try to rob your hives. You just have to catch the queen hornet before she makes her nest. If your bees are 100 yards from any hornet nests, they should be safe.
Japanese hornets are just like any other hornet, but they are huge. You just gotta find them, and kill them. Or, alternatively, throw your entrance reducer on all year. Keep it on the wide opening, but it should make the entrance too small for japanese hornets.

All I see around here are bumblebees.

Can I get honey from those? They're pretty cool otherwise. Pollinate my cherry trees are funny looking.

Bumble bees dont produce enough honey for you to harvest. Only enough for a few days food for them. But they are endangered. They have lost 90% of their population in the past few years. You gotta make sure to keep your area free of any bee-harming pesticides. Big bumblers are some of the best pollinators there are. Can't let them go extinct.

...

I started drawing furry porn because I wanted to fuck the colorful monsters in the shitty JRPGs I played as a teen.

More like gaming killed my other hobbies.

You could just play Pikmin

I'd like to hear of your guys' hobbies. I don't really have any.

I just surf the web, fap, and play video games. I'm not very social and I don't get out much. I bought some books on D&D after playing Neverwinter Nights 2 and loved it, but I'm just too shy/scared to go out and meet people that play D&D.

OP here.

no, i've never seen juggling in a game

Bees are almost interesting, that's what Sherlock Holmes retired to do in the early 1900s when Doyle wrote him to. I don't see it, but he sees everything nobody does, I'm just a pleb

Too poor to get into those other hobbies. D&D might be my only choice.

Bees are extremely interesting. I have always been deeply fascinated with them. Here are my Italians when I was inspecting them the other day. They have been working on this frame for a little bit, and its probably one of the last ones they will finish before winter.

I'm a boring person.

Ever since I read Winnie the Pooh as a child I've always been really fond of bumblebees and bees in general. Just seeing one makes me really happy.

Thanks user!

thoughts on wosps op?

Heres a closer look at them. Italians are much lighter in color than carniolans, and they build at a much faster rate, but carniolans are favored in the US because they are hardier and much less aggressive when you go in the hive.
Its like a trade off. I far prefer the Italians. I think they are much prettier, and they make quick progress which is fun to watch.

FUCK wasps.

>Archery
How do I get into this? I feel like it would be interesting, but I have zero idea on how to start. There isn't exactly archery clubs around here.

Wasps are fantastic. They are the best natural pesticide you can find, with the trade off that you have to garden in a bee suit. They would be great to have around if they werent so damn aggressive. They are wonderful pollinators too. I know some bee keepers have gone into wasp keeping. But only as a curiosity.

Gunpla is love. Gunpla is life.

Hey beeanon, what are your thoughts on those tapped Flow hives from kickstarter? Are they bullshit and harmful?

>D&D
Mah nigga.
Me and 7 other dudes get together every wednesday for a good 3 hour session of either playing hackmaster or AD&D/D&D2e. Good fucking times.

I self taught in my basement with a compound and somehow did it well enough that I only picked up one or two bad habits that I quickly ironed out once I actually moved somewhere with a nearby archery club.

I don't have any hobbies, everyday I'm either playing videos games, fapping, or lurking on Cred Forums.

Post drawings

>he doesn't hand feed his wasps

I mostly paint minis and draw.

Props OP. I still have a fear of bees and wasps, but I think bees are fucking fascinating. Same thing with ants. I'd get an ant farm if it wasn't the most autistic thing ever.

I read quite a bit, but I wouldn't say gaming influenced me one way or the other when it comes to that.

Beekeepers are largely full of shit. Some swear by it, some say it stresses out the bees. I would say its probably bad for one reason-
Bees cap their honey when its done. They don't touch that capped honey until they need to eat it. If they flow hive doesn't uncap the honey cells, then the bees are probably not going to replace the honey as fast, or they are going to think they have lots of honey reserves, and not actually have the honey they think they do, and under stock for winter.

But idk. Bees are smart. I think it comes down to preference. Whatever you do, it will stress the bees out. The flow hive breaks the wax foundation of the hive, and they have to repair it. Smoking them stresses them out, and taking frames out stresses them out. That's agriculture. You just have to think of it this way, Bees are having a hard time. If you are a bee keeper, you are giving them a home, and one that is scientifically designed to be the best habitat for them. Its better for them to live under you, and have a brief moment of stress now and again when you collect rent, then to live in a tree, be raided by wasps, and eventually sprayed with Raid.

Gardening seems to be my new hobby.
Trying some hostas, ferns, and lily of the valley.
Soils not that great though.

I only do it when I go out but
When I go to thrift stores I always pile through their CDs and music. My only hobby besides vidya is collecting CDs of early (80's and 90's) EDM and alt rock, or just weird music in general that nobody paid mind to.

If I really gave it thought, I could find a reason as to why I do it. But it all started because I found an old The Prodigy CD (their first actual CD release, before The Fat of the Land) and I just realized there is a bunch of music history to be found in thrift stores. I'm no music major but it's interesting to hear the difference as the years passed. There is a distinct difference in the music pre-2001 and post-2001 that isn't just 'oh there was a subtle change.' Nah, whole bands changed their styling and sometimes even genres.

Plus, I have a couple CDs from a band that only has a paragraph long Wikipedia article, actually. It's pretty neat sometimes.

Other times I find shit like Christian clubpop and question my life.

You'd make a good member at What.CD

This is a retarded question, but is is possible to sip off the stinger and have the bee live? So they don't sting and kill themselves.

>tfw bee phobia
it's awful

No. bees dont have a long lifespan either way. They are a hive creature. Dont think of them as individuals in the long run. Thats rough, but thats how it is.

I don't have any. Recommend me some.

I've never heard of this before, actually. Interesting. I mostly have been collecting for myself and have thought of uploading shit to Youtube, but I don't want to get hit with a sudden wall of copyright strikes because someone actually gave a shit about a one-off, three song CD I uploaded.

I don't mind uploading and sharing shit when people ask, but really I just like having all that music around. You only die when you're forgotten, and in some of these CDs you can tell that they really, really wanted to make it big and they're putting their heart and soul into it. But the album only has four songs and they don't even have a wikipedia article.

Literature, Vidya and some tabletop games (Mainly Battletech and Space Hulk BA)

Breeding and butchering rabbits
Reloading ammunition

I got into firearms because of videogames, specially after using the SOCOM in MGS, felt in love with the mk 23. I got into dioramas after being finding figurines boring.

Alright, thank you.

Yeah I'm a beekeeper as well. I've made both brown and yellow honey on my hive which I think is pretty good for a beginner. What kind of bee protection costumes are good at this kind of year when it's getting colder and I'm going to have to start going outside to turn on the heating element every morning?

Queen bees live for a long time but they are usually hidden away in the hive

>Try to get into gardening (Would love to grow my own veggies)
>Fail every single time

Yeah, What.CD tries to collect every kind of music there is. Someone like you probably can fulfill many obscure requests there.

Anyone who appreciates music and wants to preserve it should be a member.

I draw hopefully I git gud and go pro one day, but it's definitely been impacted by video games since fanart helped me improve just through sheer enthusiasm for a game or series. A lot of games I've been interested in started based on visual appeal, so it makes sense.

Cute bees, by the way.

Thanks for the answer. Once again, Cred Forums proves that its off-topic discussions are far more productive and informed compared to;
>lol sony and/or nintendo succs
>amd vs nvidia vs israel
>Nuh uh fuck you casual

If you want to see some shitty soil, you've got to come to North Carolina. Everything is just red clay. Tending to my yard is like traversing the surface of Mars.

I want to get into literature. I like sci-fi or fantasy. I don't like books that throw you into a mess of ultra-deep lore and you have no idea what the hell is going on.

Any recommendations?

I'm a photographer, but I got into it independent of gaming. I do tend to judge games on visual design aspect more now, also I'm anal about composing my in game screenshots.

I play guitar too, I always wanted to but discovering Rocksmith 2014 was the biggest push to actually pick up the instrument.

I've been studying the big change pre and post-2001 in various media/culture and it's really fascinating, user. Good hobby.

Off topic discussions are better than the main board topic 80% of the time anyway. Because only people who have an actual interest will participate in a particular conversation while every chucklefuck that likes vidya wants to shitpost here.

I read this.
patrick.freivald.com/2015/04/26/my-thoughts-on-the-flow-hive/

My hobby is volunteering with and participating at political events of all political parties here in Canada. There are four ridings near where I live and I worked for a different party in each riding. They don't check on that sort of thing.

I'm basically going to keep doing it every four years until I find someone who actually knows what they're talking about and isn't reading off some kinda script every time you try to get to the meat of an issue.

What are some easy to get into tabletops for me and my normie friends to play?

Post your art. Preferably vidya related.

I use to draw and write shitty poetry. I tried collecting all kinds of junk from newspaper comic pages to game magazines. I would have continued but i realized i hated having random junk more than i liked having them around, though i would have really loved to continue collecting game magazines but the local bookstore i got stopped selling them.

How the hell do you find people to get into tabletop games with? Or even introduce you?

Yeah, I looked up how to join. I'm not actually all that knowledgeable about this kind of stuff. I just collect CDs.

It's incredibly interesting to me because I was only 9 when 9/11 happened. I couldn't fully process what was all about to be different and how drastic the changes were going to be.
Looking at how music itself went from happy and shit to everything is has a tinge of bitterness is really subtle. A couple genres just outright fell off the face of the earth by 2002.

I have no hobbies to speak of outside of consuming media and it worries me. Everytime I think of starting something new, I feel it's already too late

Please respond.

>I'd like to hear of your guys' hobbies

Besides gaming, I enjoy collecting and posing figures, building gunpla, reading science and politics, and cooking

>What are your other hobbies outside of gaming
I play first person shooters IRL
also game dev but that probably counts as video games

>and how did gaming influence you to start those hobbies?
Well I was interested in it before I ever played any shooters or anything, but I remember playing a lot of half life paintball mods back when those were active and that's partially what got me into it.

Nice collection. Not the typical anime crap.

I don't do any of that but I always assumed if you wanted to get into that sort of thing you just go to the store and ask the employees if they know anybody cool.

I recognize that wall from buyfag threads. I love all the Stormtroopers.

Flac = lossless (full quality) rip of CDs
MP3 = lossy (less quality) rip of CDs

They love flac rips on What.CD. Tends to have bigger file sizes, but it's perfect quality with no loss.

I'm learning Japanese.

It's honestly not for the anime and video games, although I suppose games like Goemon and Musou were my initial inspiration. My end goal is to read fluently so that I can translate fiction--which I know doesn't make much money, but I already work in the medical engineering industry so I can translate on that side for steady pay while picking up a fiction project or two. Learning kanji is actually really fucking fun and rewarding, don't let any amateur blogger tell you otherwise because they're just being a little bitch.

Also I like to cook, I made pizza today for my wife and I with bacon, asparagus, and mushrooms on a bed of a mozzarella and gouda blend. Sauce and dough both homemade as well, and thinking of doing a garlic crust for the next one.

I also like learning about world religions, sampling single malt scotch, playing backgammon, meditation, and taking care of my snake plant.

I in enjoy stargazing ( i graduated astrophysics degree) also playing drum and Longboarding

Sure. Current WIP.

What are those white figs on the right? They look lovely.

I'm building a race-car.

Building a race-car is expensive so progress is pretty slow.
That's my main hobby, but I like to dismantle/repair electrical stuff, in the middle of waiting for some new capacitors for a 27" monitor I got for super cheap.
I also tinker in music, played in multiple alt-rock bands for about 6 years as a bassist, tried my hand at learning different instruments, but then decided to finish school,
Lastly, I'm into gunpla stuff. I actually got a Wing Zero gunpla I gotta get started on.

pic related, my last build

Are you that biology professor?

Here's where I started.
I consider consuming media to be a hobby, it's just a matter of how deeply you've explored that media. I wouldn't consider just going to the latest film or flicking through netflix to be a hobby though. Don't feel too guilty about not having a hobby though. Unless you're a normie you'll end up just as obsessed as you would when playing vidya with any hobby.

Yeah, I looked into that kind of thing when I considered throwing my collection into an archive somewhere. It's just that my internet is kind of shit (fucking time warner goddamn) so uploading a single Flac file, let alone an album, would be like pulling teeth.

I've thrown a couple of Mediafire links on Cred Forums before (someone on Cred Forums asked to hear the Christian clubpop album, the poor faggot) but due to how long it can take I've been hesitant to rip the whole literally box's worth of my collection.

I should get around to making a Google Docs of my shit, at least.

I do some night jogging, make vidya mods and wish to make vidya one day.

I also participate in a local SCA group where we suit up in armor and beat the hell out of eachother, it's rad

Thanks for the kind words

>What are those white figs on the right
3A 1/6th figures

I like to cosplay, take photos, cook, and WRITE HORRIBLE FILTHY SMUT

Bee keepers are a big part of the worlds ecosystem so I'm really glad you do it. If I had land to do it, I would be doing the same. I just make creepy masks and costumes.

>Are you that biology professor?
That's me

Jesus that looks great.

Guess I'm a gunplay builder now too. Gonna pre order some stuff.

>If they flow hive doesn't uncap the honey cells
It punctures them completely and the bees instantly know they've lost their honey and begin working on uncapping them almost immediately. The thing you need to remember is that this is meant to be for supers, you're not meant to use this on a primary honey source that they're going to use for the winter.

youtube.com/watch?v=wh6PzdumZTo
This was an excellent review of it that I watched if you have the time on it.

Are you from kutztown?!? Or are those desk and chairs used everywhere

Oh hey, another Dark Souls cosplayer. Which one's yours?

>Are you from kutztown
Nope

Very nice starter kit.

Do they have a sci-fi/fantasy starter kit?

Not really vidya related but Im learning Korean.

Realized I might as well learn an oriental language since Toronto is mostly asian these days.

I want to get into any sorts of sparring whether it be hand to hand or with weapons. I literally fantasize all day about fighting, which is kinda fucked up.

Did the whole collectors thing and ended up selling all my figs so a classmate who wanted to get into it but missed out on some Kamen rider exclusives.

It depends on the tastes of your normie friends.
Rifts is kinda fun in that your level 1 characters start out ridiculously op as opposed to weaksauce characters from, say, D&D.
Paladium/Hackmaster is a good in-between in terms of how jacked your characters can get.
D&D is still a really good entry-point to get used to rp-ing and being able to flesh out the characters you make. Plus the system is simple.

I got lucky and had a friend introduce me to his dad's friend who was a long time DM since he was a kid, when i was like 12. Been having him DM for me and a couple of other guys in multiple different games since.
He says the way he started playing was him and 2 other guys got real bored and had some old hand me down books, but nobody wanted to DM so he took initiative.
Nobody starts out good, and eventually the creativity starts developing in you when you start doing different things.

Last time i posted it got deleted.

The one on the left is me starting a draft and tracing draft after draft, cleaning it up more and more, the right is i guess what they call freehand, no references and i just scratched in bad shading cause i was bored in class.
I should go digital, but i'm a poorfag.

>Cred Forums - Beekeeping
What the fuck is with all the bee keepers on Cred Forums?
Not that i have an issue, with it. Although i am scared of bees and if i see one fly near me i enter full panic mode. I know theyre harmless but fuck.
I play keyboard whenever the mood strikes me. Have been playing it for a few years now. Still well shit at it since i dont consistently play but its fun.

i make videogames. this is the first time in years that i'll actually finish something proper and it feels good.

I've been considering picking up Korean, if only because I've read some shit about what happens when you learn Mandarin.

Is it fun or interesting? Would you say it's difficult or no more so than any other language.

user I hope you are here, let me tell you that's a very nice hobby you've got, do you get anything out of it? Like free honey or something? Could your bees cause some sort of trouble to your neighbors?

Myself I have the usual drawing/reading hobbies outside of vidya, but I dream of the day when I get a house to start a huge garden and start growing tomatoes and peppers and whatnot, I love making me some mean salsa.

oh no no, that's just a picture I took a few years ago. I don't like posting pictures of myself usually.

I collect alot of things; records, cassettes, horror VHS, action figures, comic books, basketball and hockey memorabilia. I play in multiple bands and run a record label. I write articles on the music scene and review local releases and promote shows. I also have a podcast about movies and pro wrestling.
I enjoy building and painting models, cooking, and photography. I like to write short stories and poetry.

I have a lot of hobbies.

why's this nigger red?

Ah, I did the Crimson set last dragon con, vidya has definitely influenced this hobby. I want to get a nice collection of Dark Souls cosplay going. I don't have any good pics of my Havel's set from last year though.

If I wasn't invested so deeply in fish keeping I'd like to try to keep fancy wasps, it's unfortunate though that the ones I like most aren't colonizers, but daubers and the like
Plus I'm a baby and don't want to be bullied by a swarm of what are supposed to be my pets

Damn.

Videogames, coding and horticulture.

it's Polistes Annularis

Start with something easy, like tomatoes. My parents were growing tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and some sort of peppers in their backyard, in Vegas. They even got a watermelon to start growing, got to about twice the size of my fist, but it grew out of the garden box and into the rocks.

Do you ever regret selling your figs?

Used to play eight hours a day as a teenager. Now I get maybe an hour in a day if I'm lucky. Started at 15, now i'm 27. Used to wake up, bring the guitar to school, play it on lunch break, play it on the way home, play it until 10PM, game and lurk for a bit and then go to bed.

I do improvisational comedy and I write. I'm an amateur angler.

>but it grew out of the garden box and into the rocks.
I-is that bad? What about pineapples, are they hard to grow?

I've been thinking about getting rid of my all figs, but I'm too lazy to ebay that shit. I bet I could make a nice chunk of money doing it, though.

>gardening
>working on small repairs on the truck
>taking care of animals
>writing/working on my text based game

Try growing peppers, pretty much impossible to fuck up. /an/ can probably help with this.

I actually started hoarding trees in minecraft because of my real life hobby of trying to collect and plant one of each native oak in my yard.

coins

the rocks started getting embedded into the rind. I'm not sure why they didn't see it happening, but for some reason the watermelon didn't reach a good size. As for pineapples, I'm not too sure. I know you can start growing one by slicing the top off of one and using that to grow new ones. This video seems to have a good explanation of it. youtube.com/watch?v=sZAEYY7hU-Y

>No Tolstoy
Mmkay

Make sure you get your calcium at an appropriate level in your soil or you'll get Blossom Rot. Pretty common issue. Otherwise tomatoes are easy.

>you have to fucking go full monster hunter and capture the queen devil hornet

Japanese bee keepers must be the manliest of all men.

shieet looks good. You do commissions by any chance?

Oh man user I'm getting really excited to read people who know about this shit here, how expensive is it? I mean taking care of a garden, is it like taking care of a pet?

i like gunpla, still mediocre though. buying stuff to up my game up though.

zazabi a shit

Work (sales/management) has basically become my main hobby, but I squeeze in some time for guitar, travel, and looking for new foods.

dont go preorder crazy. build some simple stuff before you get something. pic related, i fucked it up and now im buying another when psycho zaku comes out.

I have no hobbies. And gaming isn't a hobby it's all I do. It's my life and it's pathetic.

I do a lot of cosplaying

Mostly as ghosts.

Then I troll around the front lawn of my black neighbors house just for kicks.

That silly billy is always afraid of ghosts.

BJJ 3-4 days a week

it's surprisingly good at helping me clear my mind along with the physical benefits

forgot pic

Sorry, I should have stated that I don't have the experience myself, I'm just going off what I saw at my parents' house. But, it shouldn't be too bad. I'm sure it takes a good amount of care, but I imagine that it's not quite as hands on as a pet. Maybe less hands on than a dog, more hands on than a goldfish. If you're in the US, you can buy vegetable seeds at some grocery stores, and you can probably set up a small garden by hitting up a Lowe's or Home Depot. If I had more time/money/space, I'd try to set up my own little garden for this kind of thing.

I'm aware I'll come off as some sort of anti-intellectual hillbilly for saying this, but I don't see a point in reading anything that doesn't give me enjoyment or practical knowledge. Every now and then I'll try and read some classic, critically-acclaimed book because everyone tells me to, and everyone tells me to because the book has historical significance, social commentary, or moral lesson. And I usually find the work un-engaging and hard to follow

In the time it takes for me to read 15 pages of Proust, I can finish a 200-page doujin about pets who transform into swole man-hybrids and rape their masters (turning them into similar hybrids). As worthless as the second thing is, I get more utility out of it

The startup cost is pretty steep, especially if your soil is crap. Go to your local highway garage for mulch/wood chips. My local one does that and it's fantastic fertilizer super nitrogen rich. Best of all it's free. You'll need tools, plants and seeds, also a lot of time and patience. You have the initial work of preparing the soil, planting, periodical watering if no rain, feeding, weeding. There's a lot, but only if you make it a lot. I'm saying be proactive with your weeds or they will make you spend more time on them than the plants you're growing yourself.

gunpla us pretty cool, glad to see anons in here do it. most recent build was this rg sinanju i dont have a pic with all the sticker but it came out great.

I write a lot.

My hope is to eventually turn the universe I've been working on for the better part of ten years into a game or some shit.

I got into gardening in the spring because my mom's family have always been gardeners/farmers and grew most of what they ate.

I have a Rose of Sharon, Rose Geranium, Morning Glory, a small eucalyptus tree Italian Oregano (it actually looks spectacular when it flowers imo) and a bunch of other random herbs like Russian Sage growing on my deck right now.

On top of that though my current obsession are my 3 hop plants, 2 of which already have cones growing, which I'm using for my Home Brew. If you would like to try growing a beautiful and hardy vine that loves to climb anything it can reach, I highly suggest hops. Even more if you're also interested in brewing beer.

It's actually made me really appreciate overgrown, reclaimed aesthetics in video game design too, stuff like the Emerald Nightmare/Val'Sharah in the latest WoW expansion, or Poison Ivy's stage from Arkham.

More pictures of your cute bees?
I love bees but i've been horrified if wasps since i fell into a bush full of them and got stuck there for 10 minutes or so as a kid.

Masturbation

let's see some crops user

i like to draw and various games have influenced my aesthetics, but anime and anime styled games influence me the most, i like to play instruments and make music too, recently masafumi takada has influenced that stuff.

>and got stuck there for 10 minutes
why didn't you just got up and left?

Also my dad spent months building a big cubby house for me as a kid. When he finished it got infested with wasps and they always came back right after he killed them.
:(

>pic related, it's a bit hard to see but the cubby house is the big white thing out the back

I'm exactly like that.

I stopped consuming classic or critically acclaimed media because there was nobody around to talk to about it. There's just nobody around to advance your understanding and appreciation of the work with. However, the same applies to your 200-page rape doujin, I'm not terribly interested in meeting the people who can talk about THAT.

I have a head full of old literature, history, and great movies that are just rotting up there. I'll be happy to drag them out if I meet someone but in the meanwhile I'm going to get more "utility" like you say by doing more common things.

That doesn't mean I'm going to go watch fucking Suicide Squad or play Minecraft, but I'm basically only consuming mainstream AAA games now because you're not going to find many people who really care about Yakuza.

Seconding for gunpla. Nothing beats building while listening to music

>i fell into a bush full of them and got stuck there for 10 minutes or so

lol

im sorry to here you fucked it up user. but FAG looks like a good model. was put off by the price, but he looks good.

I fell a metre or so into it and i was only like 5 or so. I was simply in too much pain from the fall and wasps to untangle myself from the bush

bee keeper, that's interesting. bees are kinda cute too.

i draw, paint (digitally), 3d model, make music and develop games.
as for how games influenced me to start, well, i've always been interested in art but more or less games are the reason i do it all. i enjoy ripping models and textures to look at and study. the topology, techniques, tricks and shortcuts used in game art always fascinates and satisfies me.

looks like a big map. what is it, and what's your game?

>you're not going to find many people who really care about Yakuza.
you're on Cred Forums faggot
there's a yakuza thread every other fuckin' day
no bully plz ;_;
Most forms of martial arts tend to calm the mind.
Of course there are exceptions, like krav maga, where it's a pretty much crazy berserker jew punching.
You tend to meet a lot of interesting people the longer you learn.
Earlier this year i got to meet 2 Chicago Bears linebackers and taught them for a bit as juniors.

Using Cred Forums on phone is horrible.

this starter kit is a meme, right?

It's like every fucking irrelevant high school required reading compiled into one list

just end it, the fucking shipping

Are they not good reads?

Give me something else then. Preferably sci-fi / fantasy. Or just tell me.

Forgot pic

...

Well yes, it's worth playing Yakuza for Cred Forums. But in real life you're just going to slam into a brick wall when talking about Yakuza.

It'd be nice to have something in common with real people instead of mentioning obscure crap.

And even then it's not that great. I read Game of Thrones like, a decade ago and talked about it then. Now everyone is a Game of Thrones fan but nobody actually read that shit so you STILL can't talk about it.

>tfw ordered three Neo Zeongs at once

You are like a little baby

I dunno what other people say but I like anything from Vonnegut. Slaughterhouse 5 especially good read.

I WISH we read these things in high school. Reading these in college on my own free time made me realize everything that I read in high school was a waste of fucking time.

why would you want 3 of them?

I couldn't decide what color I wanted to paint one so I ordered three.

good lord that pan out at the end
so fucking comfy
I ain't even a beekeeper

that retarded user. you could repaint one as many times as you want.

...

>sinanju
excellent taste

No, that's too much work. I normally have a real job but am laid off at the moment. I could probably do so much more hobby stuff if I'd quit playing vidya all day.

I mean they're okay reads and I definitely enjoyed some of them, but almost all of them were required reads in my high school classes.

As for science fiction, Blindsight and Roadside Picnic are two of my favorites

I read less fantasy than I do science fiction, but Dune is basically space fantasy and it's great

the the sazabi and sinanju are some of my favorites. i actually really like the rg. i reccomend it. it has some issues, but its a great out of box display item.

Its a pain in the ass to strip a candy coating off, user. Especially on something as big as the Neo Zeong.

Also, I just like it.

If you've ever been to gunpla general on /m/ I'm the guy who has like thirty Zetas just because I like building it.

>sinanju
>sazabi

Elder God tier taste.

I hope you also like Nightingale.

yea i hang out in there. if it suits you i guess. i just think the zeong is obnoxiously big.

sweet coins
what's your oldest?

I'm waiting on this:
gundamguy.blogspot.ca/2016/09/mg-1100-high-mobility-type-zaku-psycho.html

I'm a sucker for big unwieldy looking models.

it depends if you want intellectual scifi or not, vonnegut and donaldson are different styles of scifi but both good imo

...

the 1/100 kit thats out for it doesnt do it for me. maybe if i ever decide to build a hi nu

It definitely is, I kind of bit off more than I chew and all three are in storage since display space is scarce for me right now.

i got mine on PO. you build your fag to go with it yet?

Looks like that police anime

did you build all 3?

Thanks.

Had an ancient Roman one kicking around, not sure where it is now. Before that, an Indian gold fanam from the 1700's. There was another coin that was stamped from silver shavings around the time of Czar Nicholas, 1615 or earlier.

Yeah, I hear about Dune a lot.

Only the first book or something right? I heard the author's son took over at one point and it wasn't so good.

...

its a real shame the rg sinanju doesnt fit

Contemplating suicide

I like to cook and BBQ, I want to pick up the bass soon

...

First book is great and works fine as a standalone, you can choose to read more of the series if you want or just leave it off there

OH YEAH OP?
HOW DOES THIS MAKE YOU FEEL?

youtube.com/watch?v=3vPV_WeQxV8

...

I did, yes.

One is candy coated red to match a Sinanju that I'd already done (used the Sinanju that came with it for parts), the second is painted in 0079 Zeong colors, the last one was originally painted Kshatriya's colors but it was damaged in an accident so I tore it apart and used it to build my Gelgoog ƜberjƤger.

>grew up playing sports

I just hit the cages or play catch then randomly dribble. I don't really do shit anymore. Aint got time for dat. Trying to find a wife before I go bald. I used to do paintballing but I dont live near anyone. I spend my few hours gaming/lifting. Women take up all my time if I hangout with them that day. I didn't shitpost that much back then. I did make troll youtube videos, but with smartphones I do it a lot during break.

cannibalize one of them to make that new psycho zaku mg even more retarded

got a nice little toy collection growing.

No, I want to sit down and get all the painting done at once. It's just a pain (for the neighbors) to do the air compressor. It will be something I build in the spring/summer as winter is coming.

Is that the RG Char Z'gok?

>not putting it in handstand pose

Patlabor

I guess listening to music, I don't really see it as a hobby of equal commitment as video games

I like model trains, which that as a hobby predates my interest in video games.

I have Locomotion and Railworks I guess.

>tfw hand paint fag
good thing new MGs look great even with minor touch ups. because im never painting one.

To be fair, most modern kits look good enough without paint if you clean them up properly and don't cut parts with your dick or something.

I had a Yellowjacket infestation in my house a few weeks ago. They had made a next all the way in the attic, and somehow found a route through the interior walls of the entire house. We found Yellowjackets everywhere. One morning I walked downstairs for coffee and found what we would later estimate to be 100-200 Yellowjackets crowding around my windows trying to catch some morning sunlight. We called an exterminator that day and had them all killed with some kind of toxic dust, but the poison took some time to work, and made them angry as they died, so we had to seal every hole we could find in plastic to keep them from raping us.

The hive is dead now, but there are still plenty of eggs still hatching. I don't know if the poison is still affecting them, but they're no one at all to take care of them. I watched one die the other day. She was flopping around on a windowsill. Clearly she either didn't have enough strength or coordination left to fly, but she would stumble an inch or two in one direction, start trying to sting the air, turn around, stumble another way. Eventually she fell over onto her side, and her antennae went wild. They were zooming all over the place, and she was stinging the air really aggressively. Eventually she gave one final sting, and I watched her antennae just kind of peter out into a few random twitches here and there, and then nothing. I don't know how complex the yellowjacket brain is, but she must have been feeling the equivalent of terror as she died.

Almost everyone listens to music user. That's like saying you have breathing as a hobby.
>I was originally going to say eating instead but then I remebered americans exist,

I like gardening. I like to make traditional medicines out of what I grow. My shed looks like a meth lab.

I also like fishing, traveling, and writing. I'm writing my own comic book right now.

kay

yea i just think hand painting is a lot more fun then airbrush. im just getting ready to start painting gunpla. up till now ive help my grandfather paint his military models. god vallejo paints are great

stop with the self pity

People still list listening to music as a hobby, just like watching movies.

I'm a chef.

I lift, and I punch things. I play vidya too.

Hacking my 3DS was a godsend.

Nikyufag reporting in, what's your rank sempai?

speaking of all the gundam stuff in here. thunderbolt made me develop a casual appreciation for free jazz

I hacked my 3DS too, played the new Kirby game, and then haven't touched it since.

I don't really want to pirate everything on there.

I'm into men's fashion, I play MtG, I suppose I read enough to consider it a hobby and not just a passing interest, and I study Japanese. I don't really feel like any of these have influenced by gaming, or vice versa. I play almost no Japanese games. Only ones I can think of that aren't old first party Nintendo games are Dark Souls and Lost Kingdoms. I like to meticulously style my characters when possible, so I suppose that counts.

Reading has certainly made me more critical of game narratives... Suddenly, I have a burning desire to see what a Modernist video game would be like.

I loved to make papecraft in college

I have quite the libary but after the hack I'm pretty much pirating everything, even DLC.

It's good, more dosh for roids.

I raise wolf spiders. I love releasing them and their babies near the local apartment complex

Yeah that one. It was great.

I have mostly /tg/ related hobbies besides vidya.

I got around 4.000 points of painted Skaven for Age of Sigmar. Tabletop is a great hobby and it is kinda relaxing to paint the little buggers.

D&D whenever me and my bros have time, regrettably we all have jobs so that is a really rare occasion. I also play Cello and try to improve on that.

I've met people who dislike listening to music outright. No interest in it at all.

I love finding and discovering music but in some ways I'm like those other people. I would rather listen to nothing than something random that has no appeal to me.

I need to get a fucking life and get back into woodworking.

Handyman shit is my jam, but I work through the weekends. Have 4 days of school, no car, no license, and no friends because I'm going to Community College for 30 to 60 credits. Also trying to get a volunteer job that will lead to an actual job at a pet hospital.

Also studying Nip after studying Chinese. Dear god kill me. Everyone except three people are weebs who can't hide powerlevels

oh, I also like to cook.

...but I don't like any cooking games either.

none of this is very exciting.

what

Mecha anime. I fucking love everything about it. Every time I watch a new show I wanna spam every board with it.

Also Japanese.

Being a bee keeper is cool op. I admire their sense of community and work ethic you could say.

are 40k fags on that board as autistic as i hear. ive heard stories about muh canon clolors and what not.

Nah. People get their panties in a bunch if you are a WAAC or want to talk about female Space Marines, but when it comes to colors and shit /tg/ is all about 'Your Dudes'. It is a very nice board to visit.

They are so cute, especially when carrying their babies.

post your set up

Take meds to get stable. Try to clean your room. Even just one small corner or something. Clean it to a point where you can say, "Fuck yeah that's a clean desk I have so much more room now."

Sure it'll get messy again, but that's not the point. You cleaned that shit up and it looks nice now. Feel proud of that. Maybe you can start thinking of a habit or two that can help you avoid making so much of a mess, or make cleaning it up easier.

Me, for instance, I'm a fucking pig with my soda cans. I go to the kitchen, grab a can of Bepis, bring it back to my desk and twenty minutes later I'm up for another. It can become a real catastrophe real quick, and in my most depressive states it just feels like another symbol for how fucked my life is. But it's not so fucked that I can't clean it up with a little bit of effort. And yeah it's a pain in the ass to clean up all those cans and wipe up spills and get everything looking like how it used to be, but it reminds me that next time I shouldn't let it get this bad, and the clean desk at the end feels satisfying. Now I try to get in the habit of taking at least two cans to the recycling whenever I go to grab one. Sometimes I forget, but that's okay, I'll just grab three next time. And all of a sudden I've got a pretty nice desk and I still get to drink all the delicious Bepis I crave, with virtually no extra effort.

The rest of life is basically different applications of that core strategy. Figure out what you can control, figure out what you can improve right now, figure out how you can make that improvement more durable, repeat.

Well, my queens mated naturally, so...
Thats why I keep 2 breeds of bees in my yard. For genetic variation. Also, some neighbors get bees from cali every year. So when my virgin queens mate, they have a pool of studs to choose from.

I wish i could like spiders like you user, but for the life of me, i just can't.
I mean i'm only tolerable of the smaller spiderbros that hang around my bathroom and some windows and eat any fucker that tries to get inside.

I got more into art films because of Suda and Silent Hill.

I got more into music and literature just because I realized how barren my life was with just vidya and movies.

I watch, play and write about cricket a lot
I'm also obsessed with punk rock and read a lot of books

so how do you get your new queens to set up a hive near you?

>that one super passionate guy who finally was going to accomplish his dream of making an ant sim game after he got funded on kickstarter but his buissness partner blew it all on strippers and blow and he had to cancel the project

Reading his announcement of the cancellation was soul crushing

This really shows off how gorgeous the wasp's exoskeleton is. Too bad they're fucking psychopaths.

I work as a game developer, and like to make more esoteric games in my free time. I like to bike, but otherwise don't have nay hobbies. Reading this thread makes me want to start gardening.

Nidan here

Too bad /asp/ was cucked so bad, now there's nowhere on this website to have threads for this kind of thing.

Nice thread OP. How does one get into bed keeping? I think I might take a class about bees, since I'm in Uni. I won't start pursing hobbies until I have a place of my own. Bee keeping sounds fun, though I've always been scared of getting stung.

I've also wanted to get into perfuming, but there is a price steep so I'll only do it once I have my own money.

Spelunking, Hiking and Mountaineering all seem cool, I'll want to try them out some day.

Aside from those wishes, the only actual hobbies I have is reading. I need more hobbies. When I lose some more fat and start bulking, maybe I can turn body building into a hobby. I also want to cook more, travel more and learn more languages. The latter two I've already done a lot of, so they can be considered hobbies, maybe?

Maybe photography? Though I'm a coach potato. Collecting minerals might be fun.

Vidya, mineral collecting, backpacking

You split an old hive, raise up queens, or buy queens. Queens are pretty cheap, like $40. They are easy to raise too.

My only hobbies are yoga, vidya, cooking, and pot smoking.

Martial arts. I train Dutch kickboxing, Brazilian jiu jitsu, and wrestling. I suck cause I get lazy when school picks up but it's fun. It makes watching MMA a lot more fun cause you know what's going on.

I kept bees for years with my dad back when I was a kid and I never once got stung
We opened the hives up about once a month to check them

>acknowledge that bees are really helpful to our planet
>still get extremely nervous if I hear or see a bee near me

>mfw bald faced hornets nest grew almost overnight in yard during summer

do they ever compete, like ants?

Queens? If a new queen is born and the old queen hasnt decided its time to split, they will ball around the new queen and overheat her to death. Old queen is always in charge.

the video of him explaining the situation is even more depressing

youtube.com/watch?v=2IWl29BNawg

at least he didn't give up game development completely.

>they were his friends for 11 years

I just like collecting antiques, particularly firearms or memorabilia and pocket watches.
If I'm at the beach I'll either try diving if possible or just go browse the sand for shells.

I feel pretty small since that's literally all I've ever done beyond one day. Tried going into melting aluminum into things but after the first go the top of the foundry/furnace broke apart, so I need to make a new one with some support in it. I keep procrastinating it however, and when I do think about it I'm already doing something else.

On a side note for you beekeepers, I used to buy honey from a keeper just a short drive from my home but awhile back he suddenly disappeared when on one of his typical boating trips out to the Gulf. Thought about offering to tend the bees, but I have no knowledge about them. Are there any particular good starts in reading up on how to be a beekeeper?

Goddamn

That's some gangland shit.

>Also studying Nip after studying Chinese. Dear god kill me. Everyone except three people are weebs who can't hide powerlevels

Are you taking classes? I self study because my schedule doesn't permit time for classes but at least I avoid all the weeaboos.

Hives don't really compete much but there's an interesting tidbit about that
When you buy a new queen and introduce it to a hive, she comes in a little box with mesh
You have to put the box in the hive for a few days so the workers in there all get accustomed to her pheromones
Initially they'll bite the mesh of the cage trying to get in there and kill her, but after a few days of pheromone brainwashing they'll stick their tongues in there trying to feed her
That's when you know you can release her into the hive

Fucking Dracula

Insects are brutal fuckers. The jap honeybees roast giant hornets alive should a scout enter the nest.

OP here, usually the cages come with hard candy plugs. The bees will try to eat the candy to get the queen out to kill her, but it takes 2 to 3 days to eat away the whole candy, and thats long enough for her stink to get all over them

I like writing and art (although I'm not very good at the latter). Not sure of video games had anythibg to do with those.
I really like swords and general weaponry which is probably because of vidya.
I might start a sword collection in a few years.
I also am getting into welding as a career and as a hobby.
I also really love tea enough to call it a hobby but that's completely seperate from vidya.
not enough vidya has tea

Yooo that's big money! Maybe we'll cross swords some day!

...

I like to shoot, I've done some amateur competitions

I'm gonna build a nicer AR soon

I'm legacy and pauper at this point.

I like taking pictures of random stuff and posting about them on Cred Forums

I like all the asian girls on my campus as much as the next guy, but I agree with him.

These cookie-cutter Kpop stars are not interesting one bit.

are they strung out on something? why are they so docile?

none of them look alike though.

They're pretty damn close. The generic thin asian girl with oval face.

>wasps everywhere, constant fight all summer between them and the carpenter bees who think it's a bee condo development over here
>paper wasps aggressive as all hell, large numbers before I realize they're in business
>yellowjackets always around in small numbers, no idea where the shitters come from
>FUCK SHIT FUCK FUCK
>night falls, sweet relief, no wasps until morning other than the odd cicada killer dragging some fuck off to its hole
>feels good ma-what is that shit crawling on the light
>some fucking bald-faced hornets have set up shop somewhere nearby, strays all over the fucking porchlight trying to find their way home for the rest of summer

I don't give a shit how useful or arty a wasp is. If I could get a bat colony to live here instead, I'd take it every time. Fuck wasps.

Mud daubers shit up the walls all summer too, but at least they don't care about anything else than shitting up walls I guess.

It used to be standard, but I'm looking into some cheaper modern decks like mono-green stomp just because I need to get out for something that isn't work or school. I might even have to stomach weeb behavior and play force of will.

I recently finished the Hyperion/Endymion series. Very good, would recommend this sci-fi series.

I don't know if weight lifting could be called a hobby. I do it to keep in shape and vent extra energy.

I sometimes make shitty youtube videos.

I also like to road cycle.

>complaining about having too many gorgeous women

I don't have any hobbies because I'm worried about what other people think, and have gone through some bad experiences.

I used to collect figures and shit and had a pretty nice display in my extra room of my apt until a couple "friends" decided to bring random people over to get on my case about it.

not close at all.

Bees and wasps only attack people when you piss one of them off and they start squirting out "attack" pheromones, which tell all their buddies around that this is a threat and they should fuck it up. It compounds as everyone starts emitting their own pheromones and everyone goes after the threat.

So long as you don't piss them off in a major way like swatting at them or ruining their home they'll just chill out.

music and composition

video games pushed me to listen to new genres and experimental music

and being interested in gamedev has lead to me composing my own shit in my free time independent of game dev

>paper wasps aggressive as all hell,
Where the fuck are you?

Bald faced are actually really fucking nice to have around provided it's far enough away from the house. A nest built up and we had legit zero problems with fuckers like yellowjackets since.

I've OOT to thank for my infatuation with fantasy literature. (Well - I can't say it wouldn't have happened otherwise, but that was what made the initial spark for me regardless.) That type of setting clicked perfectly for me.

A failed game idea I had is also the reason I got into writing. Only one novel, written but requiring a heavy amount of editing.

I play DnD a lot and recently picked up tenor saxophone after a 7 year hiatus of sorts. Shit's pretty fun.

Who the fuck cares. Just do what you like.

The bee juxtaposed with the party hat just reminds me of how much I miss /z/.

Sorry, there's plenty of guys with our opinion that they all look the same. It's done so for a reason.

I got back into 40k recently and I try to finish painting my DE and harlequins. I also like swords and general weaponry but I don't practice medieval swordfight anymore.

I work. I don't really have time for other hobbies.

I make music

Special occasion because of trips.

My other hobbies is motor bike.

No, you're supposed to call the city and let them deal with those fuckers, we had a hive of them on our street once and they came out, smoked them and then covered their hive in that sticky white stuff and took the whole hive away

no, it's actually a stupid meme people post whenever asians are posted because they think it's funny.

Red means it's stronger

drawing, hopes to get to a comic

writing, cooking and ive been meaning to get into cat fancy

They look the same. Or at least very similar.

You can deny it all you want, since it's your hobby and I'm sure you will. But it's true.

I thought it was a mud wasp, but nope. Fuck mudwasps. Like really, fuck those things.

>Tfw I got an air compressor, air brush, air brush cleaning unit, air brush hose, have hoarded dozens of model kits, and haven't built or painted any of them because I got overwhelmed looking into paints and thinner.

>What are your other hobbies outside of gaming
Anime and being a news-hound. I also have a habit of using Tootsie Pops as projectiles.
Gaming really didn't have much to do with any of what I'm into right now, even though I've been doing it since I've been 4 years old. I got into anime by watching the butchered CCS dub as a toddler and absolutely loving Sakura, and newspapers were how I learned to read about the same time.

How do I find a new hobby when you're a jobless faggot with no money?

I hardly play vidya anymore so at this point I could really only consider Cred Forums my hobby

I'm sure I'm not the only one who got into skateboarding through the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games.

Well that depends. Are you incredibly passionate about Weightlifting.

>when you're a jobless faggot with no money?
That's part of the issue, but nothing liberal amounts of piracy and willingness to DIY can't fix for most things. You don't really need to have a hobby, either, so if vidya just doesn't have the luster it used to then just carry on until something else piques your interest.

hey man, i'm just saying i think having trouble differentiating between facial features is a sign of autism and you should get checked out

I collect super high res images of stuff vidya and anime franchises I like. Like 7000x6000 sized stuff. I normally get them from asset packs sent to press outlets so they have images to put in their articles.

I'm also really into precolumbian central american cultures. The aztecs were rad as fuck, pic related

another pic

[muffled ARE WE THERE YET intensifies]
qt spider though

No need to get offended, man. More than just facial features was mentioned.

Kpop stars look the same.

Every time someone brings them up I just get really sad that many of these ancient civilizations just didn't write anything down. Or they got fucking wrecked and their libraries were burned.

so do white women then

Just stop.

Any drivers here?

>tfw I want tend bees but dont have sufficient ground to tend them well

I'm looking for a house with a large garden to literally keep bees.

Fuck, I don't even use honey

Yeah, there's the generic looking tall thin white valley girl. Just like there's the generic looking small thin oval face asian girl.

At least you're finally realizing it.

No? It's true. It's so lame when people can't take the truth. It needs to be forced fed to them or something.

I study various religions, draw/paint, write. As for gaming, I like to collect obscure games.

Pic related- drawing I just did tonight.

your a racist fuck you know that?

Just dive into them. Find some cheap kits that you don't care too much about and start learning. The first few models you make will be shit, but once you get through them and learn it only gets more fun.

I'm a sailor by trade and I long for a realistic sailing game with crew mangment and fucking crazy boats. It'll never happen though.

noice

Appreciated senpai

>tfw watching creative ways to kill wasp nests for 2 hours this week on YT

Napalm is my favourite

Speaking as a Korean dude who has absolutely no trouble telling other Asians apart, K Pop girls all look the same. Seriously, they all go to the same major plastic surgeon place I'd bet.

I do think all white people look kind of similar too, but not as much as Koreans

I like to study history, thanks to Civ games and later grand strategy.

Other than that I have no other hobbies. I used to draw but gave up for being no good, and I used to do gunpla.

Being observant of obvious similarities (or differences) is not racist. It's being observant.

A lot of people nowadays like to convince themselves that things like that don't exist.

Most people don't skateboard past the age of 16

Those birds are cute!

Agreed. Just like a lot of black people look similar, mexicans, etc.

But this poor guy is mad that it's true. Probably because Kpop is his hobby.

And they're missing out, shit's fun and a good way to keep fit

Cry some more fat fuck

I play the piano. I especially like to transcribe various songs and tracks, I enjoy the challenge.
Gardening, growing plants on my balcony. I also love to collect small cacti.
Reading, even though I haven't had much time or energy for it lately.
Traveling, I try to leave the country at least once a year. Seeing other cultures and meeting new people is fun.
I also like ornithology, it's been one of my favorite hobbies since I was little.

I have only one phobia and that's wasps so this thread is a bit triggering.

>How do I find a new hobby when you're a jobless faggot with no money?
You could learn a language, learn to program, learn to draw, find a group of people to play D&D with. The internet is vast and offers many opportunities. Or maybe get into meteorology, cryptography, DIY. You never know what could catch your interest if you don't try out different things.

Nice pic, I like your style. You could make a collection of those and publish them as a coloring book for adults.

Neat

Quit projecting

Trying to get into model building.

The building the model part is easy, it's the painting the model part that is hard and that's where I keep trashing them. I've been at this for around a year now and have yet to actually be satisfied with a model enough to not throw it out.

Buying plastic crack. Also Wing Chun if martial arts count as a hobby.

Nothing like the feeling of your paint bleeding over to bits of part you didn't want it on and having to start over or live it it. Masking is hard

id on this beauty pls

In the aztec's case, a lot of their religious texts they burned themselves because about 80 years before the spainish came, the emperor's brother, who was more or less what you would call a high priest, rewrote a lot of their religion and ordered all the previous texts to be destroyed,

This is also when human sacrifice became such a big thing, since prior to then it wasn't nearly as prevalent (though even then it never got as bad as popular culture makes it out to be).

Instead of lamenting the loss of the manuscripts, you should lament the loss of the destruction of their captial, Tenochtitlan, which you can see in amd
It was built on a lake and virtually every spainish account we have mentions that it was wondrously beautiful and was more magnificent then anything in europe, let alone spain at the time.

>When we saw so many cities and villages built in the water and other great towns on dry land we were amazed and said that it was like the enchantments (...) on account of the great towers and cues and buildings rising from the water, and all built of masonry. And some of our soldiers even asked whether the things that we saw were not a dream? (...) I do not know how to describe it, seeing things as we did that had never been heard of or seen before, not even dreamed about.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenochtitlan

It's LITTERALLY all buried underneath downtown mexico city. The lakes were drained in the 1700's for urban expansion, which is also why axolotl salamanders are extinct in the wild, because they lost nearly all of their habitat.

What's the name of that porn mag user? Also I agree with you.

HG Gundam Barbatos Lupus. Literally came out like today. I'm still gushing over the design

Nothing depresses me more than the thought of all these civilizations and languages that are dead and can never be reliably reconstructed

>liking those shoulders and gay ass forced tekkadan symbol on them

Funny you mention a coloring book, because thats exactly what its is for lol

literally every other hobby i have revolves around game dev

C U T E

...

I just like to draw and I'm pretty big into music. I really make a cartoon someday but that wasn't really influenced vidya. Moreso stuff on newgrounds like eddsworld and stuff. Here's something I finished recently

I can't really get into gardening for gardening's sake, all I do is grow herbs I use for cooking

I've built kits before. I even hand-painted some, but they turned out very poorly. Hand-painting is simply not as fine as air-brushing, except maybe for detail work.

"The issue isn't building the kits, it's the painting. There's so many colors, and more of an issue, many paints have different 'coating appearances'. That is, some paints are flat, some are glossy, some are semi-glossy, etc. That wouldn't be an issue if I didn't have to take top-coating into the matter, which can also have coating effects. Then, what if I want to have different coating values? Do I get all flat paints and just get semi-gloss or gloss coats to cover them? Wait, do I want acrylic or enamel? Do I need a proprietary thinner for any of these paints? I'll need to pick up a respirator too. Etc. etc. etc. "

It's a nightmare. Everything else is simple in comparison.

I have cheap kits and expensive kits, but none of them will get built if I can't even decide on what paint materials to use. I just moved recently too, so I'd have to go find my equipment too.

Tuck me in, let me die.

Outside of also watching anime/TV/movies I started a gaming channel on YouTube which is pretty time consuming and on the side I play in a band and go to debate clubs.

Being into music helps me evaluate soundtracks in games and debating helps me write better scripts for my channel I guess.

Do you animate bro? also got a site where stash your works?

What's this, a map of the decent of European languages?

I collect militaria, go fishing, and have recently gotten into model kits

No I'm not a neo nazi, that's just my German stuff. I also have American and russian stuff, from ww1, 2, and the cold war.

That's cool user, keep up the good work and good luck!

>Have a huge, fat, lazy cat
>Pretty much just lives to sleep, eat, and cuddle me
>One day there is a huge wasp in my room
>I open my door to get him out
>He heads to the kitchen windows with my cat sitting on the kitchen floor
>The cat sees the wasp, jumps about 5 feet in the air, flips, slices the wasp in half, and lands perfectly
>Two wasp halves fall to the floor right next to him
>Cat falls over, yawns, and licks one of the legs of a stool for the next 30 minutes

He really doesn't like wasps.

...

I have a bit of an interest in history I suppose. But I wouldn't call that a hobby.

Used to collect ancient chinese coins when I was in high school, but that was mostly because they have some pretty good historical value=price ratio, and lately they seem to really have gone up in price.

Used to be really into tabletop games like board games and RPG's. Some of the most fun I've ever had, but my group split up and that was that.

It seems most of my hobbies have just died of in later years, used to be really into film making, graphic design, modding, reading. But now I mostly just play old video games.

Though part of that is just being a NEET. Hard to start a hobby when you have no money.

thanks user, ireally need catch up to this series
zzzzz

Indo-European, so most European languages + Persian + poo-in-loo + a host of dead ones

I do volunteer work at a thrift shop in center city ,all the proceeds go too people with HIV/AIDs. It's alright the only down side is my coworkers political beliefs. They're kinda weirdos. I Also cook and lift.

Got any more of these?

>tfw I kinda want to keep bees but I have a borderline phobia of insects

Looking at beekeeping vids on youtube is so comfy. But at the same time I get the shakes when I see a bee in my room.

I rehabilitate birds of prey to release back into the wild.

This is unpaid, I do it about twice a week. Nothing describes finding a bald eagle on the verge of death with a broken wing and leg, nursing it back to health, and watching it fly off into the sunset.

I also read sci-fi and fantasy and (rarely) patrician lit.

Anime
Playing the saxophone
Golf

Yeah, I'm inconsistent.

Haven't tried animating in a few years, torrented toonboom recently to try my hand at it again though. I have a deviantart and tumblr where I post my art there. Look up drawmono or dustiletto 29 and you should find some stuff

There's this one, but you really have to take it with a grain of salt.

>I do volunteer work
>I rehabilitate birds of prey

I can't say gaming really influenced me to start anything, but it does kinda fill the void of all the people I used to hang out with.
I'm a bit of a social retard. Get along at parties really well, because my observational humor is spot on but I can't hold a one on one conversation with many people.
Most of my party friends have left to do their own shit, so me being incapable of really making new friends have spent a lot more days couped up.
Video games help, but it kinda sucks that my best bro is ignoring me to spend face time with his long distance girlfriend all the time. My roommate (I've known him since we were kids) is cool but he never wants to play any multiplayer games.

As for my hobbies, I just got bored of them. It's like I WANT to want to do things but it always just seems like a chore. Used to paint, draw, play the viola, jog (for fucks sake I used to think running 6 miles was fun) and now I just can't get back into any of it.
Vidya is the only thing that entertains me anymore.

Destroyed history hurts worse than merely 'lost' history.

>beekeeper

1. Who keeps wasps as pets
2. Why aren't they unleashing hell on that finger?

>Get along at parties really well, because my observational humor is spot on but I can't hold a one on one conversation with many people.

Funny. For me it's the opposite. In a party situation I just still still and do noting pretty much, like I just keep quiet until someone speaks to me. But if I'm alone with someone I've met a few times I can chat away and forget I'm pretty much a incredibly self conscious social retard with anxiety issues and I'm more than happy to give and make a fool out of myself to make other people feel happy.

If someone like robs your house or something bad do you bees like descend upon them to fuck up their life?

If you properly thin your paints, you can hand-paint pretty well. It's just a pain to try and get even coats versus an airbrush.
You can easily spray flat/gloss/etc. clear top coats at the end. That AT-ST looked like crap when I was done with washes and stuff, but once I ran over it with XF-86 it looks awesome.
You'll need thinner of some sort, and if you use both acrylics and enamels you'll need thinner for each (I recommend sticking to acrylic).
Like I said, you'll fuck up a few models but it's a learning experience. You can always strip the paint and try again.

Got on for Uto-Aztecan languages or just native americas ones in general?

>I just surf the web, fap, and play video games. I'm not very social and I don't get out much.
Yeah, that describes me. I'm feeling down from other reasons concerning my parents, and I just don't feel like doing anything except for browsing here and it sucks. I really hate my life.

use 3, 4-Methylenedioxyphenylpropan-2-one to make cool shit

This triggers me so hard.

A 1500 old monument destroyed because the Taliban are a bunch of mongoloid goat fuckers that destroy historical artifacts because they know their religious rule based on sucking of camels is irrelevant.

Not really, actually, I never bothered to into the linguistic side of it, i'm more into the architectural and civics side.

What a bunch of ass backwards fuck knuckles

Skateboard, draw, music, build shit

>You can easily spray flat/gloss/etc. clear top coats at the end.

I'm confused. My issue was in wondering how the final product would look like based on the various combinations of paint coat values and top coats.

Flat paint + glossy coat,
glossy paint + flat coat,
Semi-gloss paint + flat coat, etc.

I get that there's clear coats that shouldn't affect the coat values of the paint, but the idea is to maximize my options for coat values. My initial thoughts when researching paints were about whether or not I should purchase flat coat paints and get clear and semi-gloss top coats to give me the most options.

That kind of scenario is what has eluded my understanding, and I don't want to buy too many paints of the wrong coat value; that just becomes expensive too fast.

I'm unsure if I've explained the issue well, but hopefully you get the gist of it. I am just worried about wasting money on paints that won't provide me with options.

theguardian.com/world/2015/aug/18/isis-beheads-archaeologist-syria

There are silver linings.

Something that gets me mad is that mayan sites are destroyed all the time in central america for stone to reuse in modern structures. Unlike Mesopotamia, there's still a lot we learn all the time since it's not as explored/established history as that region is, so a lot of the shit we are losing could have actually taught us stuff

cnn.com/2013/05/14/world/americas/belize-mayan-pyramid-destroyed/

Also there was that time greenpeace damaged the nazca lines for a publicity stunt. Fucktards.

Glad I provided some worthwhile info then. It's not organized the same but this seems to be a lot more specific in terms of descendant languages

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uto-Aztecan_languages#Present_scheme

At least we have records of this shit in the present day, compared to what's been destroyed in the past that we only have written accounts of. Not to say that it's ridiculous that in the age of satellite this kind of iconoclasm is still going on

Iconoclasm serves no purpose.
I get the idea, but it has no purpose. Even less so when your shitty Empire should be pawning them off to the black marked instead, because thats what they have been doing since the 1800s.
WTF

There's actually one. Can't remember the name, it was made by some company that made plenty shareware games, great ones too. There were several factions with all insects you can think of.

And... found it: srelease.com/swarm-assault

Hate those little bastards, although slapping their shit with a shovel is pretty satisfying

Comics, anime, cosplay, DnD, the usual nerd hobbies everyone on here probably also does.

Outside that I love hiking, I'm trying my best to learn how to cook, I do regular community theater productions and improv and I'm trying my luck in stand up. Me and my friend also do a weekly podcast and I'm helping my artist friend in writing a new webcomic.

As far as gaming as influenced me it's hard to say, specially now since being a nerd is such the hip thing to be describing how it effected me doesn't really sound that special or different outside that ironically using memes no one understands but me.

I guess though one thing that I am hoping to do is more "nerd" comedy. Comedy is big no matter what hobby and group you are in but I noticed that when it comes to stand up comedy there isn't a scene that focuses more on nerdy stuff that isn't ironic or "LOL GUYS XBOX AMIRIGHT?".

A lot of cons have improv panels and "character open mic" panels but they are small and not many people go to them. I'd really like to set up so that these panels are bigger, more professional and maybe even start a troupe where we tour around at cons doing improv and stand up shows.

There is even start of popular pod casts doing live panels at con and I'd really like to set that up too with mine.

I conduct tests on the effects of forced memes on an anonymous image board.

god damn this is some next-level denial

>Anime

>Golf
>Nurses eagles, hawks and owls.

You sound like some fucking rad dude.

>overmeme instead of glorious Goons
Fag.

I like going thrift shopping and collecting soccer jerseys if that counts as a hobby

Me I just travel a lot.

After having played so many games set in other countries, I wanted to see those for real. I didn't just want to scour big first world cities, I wanted to see everything else: hacking my way through the jungles of Laos and Cambodia, climbing peaks in the Annapura region, crawling in the middle of the Saraha without water...

Shit is even more fun than video games. I almost died like a hundred times, but hey I'm still here.

Typically, it'll follow whatever the top coat is. You might have to do multiple coats, but that's not much of an issue.

I personally do a coat of Future between most layers of stuff, which gives a nice even gloss coat all around, then once I'm basically done I worry about the finish.

A few things:
-Motorbikes, specifically offroad
-cars
-fpv quad copter racing and other electronics
-drumming
I like to do as much as I can.

>having the money to travel

3D Modelling & Texturing, Photography, Videogame Screenshotting, playing the Piano and Modding.

I appreciate your assistance. I'll keep these notes in mind when shopping for paints.

Thank you.

Can you suggest any resources to study the pre/post 2001 changes?

Aside from video games, I like to do coding and I like to play yugioh.

MAI HUSBANDO

I used to be a professional wrestler, but after a knee injury I couldn't really do that anymore. Now I'm a neet who plays games all day.
I like to think it's a win but I don't know.

Bee keepers how do you deal with varoa mites?

>that wip
Why do I even bother anymore.

Cicada wasps are actually pretty friendly. I hate them though cause they always makes their nests in the middle of the fucking sidewalk and they give you that look of "THE FUCK YOU DOING!?"

Nigga you have an entire fuck garden you fucking move.

I feed stray cats and make them become friendly, like this black cat that used to keep his distance but once I finally managed to rub his cheek with my finger when giving him food he started to warm up. He would then be rubbing my legs as I was getting his plate ready when he showed up in my garage usually on the couch with my other cat.

You don't need much money user. I never had a lot, though I certainly did spend all of it into travelling. It's just a sacrifice to make. I don't have much today, while others my age have a nice house and car, a cool smartphone and stuff. But then I visited 60 different countries.

You really need to just pay for the plane ticket. Once you're there, find small jobs to push you further, look for WWOOF opportunities, benefit from the generosity of people...

Quickly you'll realize that of all the people living in the coolest places on the planet didn't need much money for that, they just fucking went there. It's surprising to see so many people think you should work hard and make money just so you can spend one week there as a tourist, and that it's how it works, when you really just need to go and just live there for the sole cost of a one way plane ticket.

Now it's up to you whether you'd rather have your little comfy life and just go on holidays once in a while, or give up on iphones, gym subscription, getting a haircut once a week, having 80TB of porn, but be on holidays every single day of your life.

Because you're supposed to enjoy your hobbies? Oh who am I kidding, this is Cred Forums we're talking about here.

Don't feel bad, man. I feel like shit all the time whenever I look at other artists' work. Just keep chugging!

Not exactly vidya but I had this kinda gundam robot thing in mind when I drew it.
It was like five minutes tops.

I'm a novelist and I do a bit of art, mostly memes it feels like.

Main character of my first book was originally the 'default' character I'd make whenever vidogames had customization, one day I decided to start writing a book about him.
I lot of my later characters I figured out how I wanted them to look by using game CaC's as a way to quickly mess around with lots of different designs, About a third of my characters were first designed in THUG2, another third in Soul Caliber 3

>ywn have a Momo

Is reading loli porn a hobby?

I'm super into photography. I started out by cosplaying and going to conventions then I realized I'm an ugly sack of shit so I got into cosplay photography instead.

I'm an amateur voice actor, or at least want to be. I've got the voice AND the connections, but I need to learn acting. I'm an aspie so I have to act out all my emotions anyways, how hard could it be?

I want to learn art but I'm still with the senpai and have two younger little shits who snoop through my shit. I don't want them to find 200 DeviantArt abominations on a sketchpad

I grew up in a pretty /k/ family, so when I pack my shit up and ship out, I'm gonna sink a lot of money and time into funs.

Video games are something I'm growing distant from. I'm glad I am, too. Every time I sit down to play them, I'm reminded that I'm doing nothing in life but waste time. Then my heart sinks into my chest and I just feel empty.

The red ones can't be killed didn't you play DKC?

I'm no doctor, but that's like one clean chunk

I do hiking and drawing, I collected old books for a while but it started to get expensive and take up space, oldest one I have is a hardback Grimms Fairy Tales from 1919, was found in an abandoned house in the country. Want to try writing, thought comics were a good way of telling a story for a long time but I dont think I have the capacity to draw so many images and think I might get lazy mid way through.

I'm into messing with small engines. I like that they're easy to take apart and look at.
I think it's cool that old mopeds generally are very cheap and that there's great variety amongst European manufacturers.

I got these bikes for a total of $400. The blue one is a 1977 Puch Maxi that I paid $300 for and the red one is a 1977 Pugeot 103 that only cost me $100

I warn you, it isn't "humans with animal ears" or whatever, it's straight-up beastiality

no but shitposting is

I work with a lot of Lao and am thinking of visiting because they are such nice people.

How was it?

>tfw no hobby, no job, no friends
I've basically lost all will to live

>listen classic and traditional music from various cultures
>play flute and piano
>history buff
>swordfighting (mainly asian styles) and chinese and japanese sword/fan dancing
>martial arts: karate and kung fu
>RTS gaming/grand strategy/ Turn based RPGs

I make music.
Try to do some art from time to time.
I read - manga, crappy articles, classics, you name it.
Go to gym almost every 2nd day.
Get borderline blackout drunk at a bar.

Nothing too crazy, but it keeps me relatively sane.

ITT: everyone posts short lists carefully constructed to make themselves look interesting

I also have no close friends. The question wasnt "who are you", it was "what are your hobbies"

>i have no hobbies so everyone must be trying to make me look bad
Jej

Just get a knockoff senpai, my hondo II does the job

Im not sure you realize how condescending you sound.

What do you do in other countries besides sight-see?

I don't do much at all in my own country. When I think of visiting a foreign country, I don't see myself doing anything particularly great. I have gone to other countries before, but I don't know how I felt about that.

I follow a rather introverted lifestyle, with communication to other people outside my familial line being rare. This troubling reality is only more apparent when I think about going to another country. I fear that I wouldn't accomplish much in terms of satisfaction, enjoyment, or otherwise happiness being anywhere. After all, how can I find happiness by myself somewhere else if I can't find it by myself at home?

It seems to me that being a traveler is a extrovert's forte, unfortunately for myself.

What about his post was condescending?
I don't really like travelling but I see where he's coming from. It seemed like a honest good hearted advice to me.

i bet and do drugs. i don't fap anymore.

>Money can be priortized user!
>Im not sure you realize how condescending you sound.
Great job not reading his post.
Bonus point: If he where better at money, he would most likely plan a little better, to avoid a small amount of the out sourcing needed to be done on such trips.

That said, work for transportation is noble.

Its the way he worded parts of it.

>while others my age have a nice house and car, a cool smartphone and stuff. But then I visited 60 different countries.

that part mostly.

That isn't being superior about it.
Thats just that he is bad at communicating, and wants to say something about the fact he didn't prioritize a mortgage, so his peers might be 70-100% done on paying for their houses.

i took up new hobbies because making games is just entertainment work business to devs and i dont support attitudes like that. its not fun anymore iĀ“d rather do anything else except get more games at this point

also all new titles suck. all of them.

>insect-based hobbies
Gross
I own a motorcycle and do all the maintenance on it myself.
Luckily it is a japanese motorcycle so the maintenance is minimal.
But I also like going on long rides and customizing it.
I also program stuff in my spare time, not games and shit because that's too much work usually just scripts to sort pirated shit for me.

betting is fun and makes you cool, if you win.

what do you handicap?

This image is almost 10 years old, but it's the only one I have and I like painting miniatures. Spess Muhreens are especially easy to get right since they have lots of big bulky pieces.

Whether I give them black bolters or the classic red depends on whether the piece is plastic or metal. If they're metal I like the classic blue and yellow suits with red bolters.

I see. my reading comprehension isn't the best. thanks for the correction.

>motorcycling
>not an insect-based hobby

I collect vinyl records, but in order to prevent myself for just buying up every record with music I like, I've decided to only collect colored vinyl.

Colored vinyl isn't as good for audio quality as black vinyl which is considered "audiophile", but I think it looks neat on the turntable.

Gaming influenced me to do it, because I was looking for games at a store that was going out of business and had super cheap travel gramophones so I bought one, because whatever.

Then Data Discs started up with putting cool game soundtracks out on colored vinyl, lots of synthwave artists started putting their stuff out on colored vinyl as well and I found that a lot of colored limited edition records have been made in the past as well, so the ball just got rolling.

As more and more of our stuff ends up in the cloud, I feel more and more worried about what would happen if it just vanished. Physical media will at least always be there, unless some freak fire takes it all.

Warhams

How do I into anime? It seems like a great addition to vidya but I can't get stuck in. I like some but I want it to consume me.

I collect vinyl music as well mostly 80s jpop. its fun seeing all the neat stuff that comes with the vinyl. cleaning them can be a pain tho.

The new starwars movie had a really cool vinyl release of it's soundtrack with a hologram tie fighter on it, do you collect stuff like that too or does it have to be full color?

try manga instead.

Jeez, I wonder who's behind all of these bee/ wasp posts.

I've liked keeping aquariums for a long time now. I've been trying plants for aquascapes and that spiraled into terrariums, then native plants, and then pond plants. Now I set up an aquaponics setup to grow veggies and throw my larger fish in.

Writing poetry.

I'm not really getting anything done recently though.

I bought that as well, since it was so different.

80s jpop is rad, but I haven't been able to find the stuff I find REALLY catchy, on colored vinyl.
I have a single vinyl by Hidemi Ishikawa in a peppermint color (not my picture)

I get in on vinyl too, but mostly UK anarcho-punk.

I have original Omega Tribe and Crass, Flux of Pink Indians. IDK if anyone on this board cares about that shit, but w/e.

If no vidya interests me, i just go cycling next to the santa ana river

I've been cooking since I was 2008 and i just started building a hive for when i get into beekeeping

It's certainly not my genre, but it's a cool way to collect music.

It's one big jungle with two villages. Literally. But a beautiful place, and people are indeed very nice, offering you food and a bed and asking nothing in return.

You meet people, hike in vistas so beautiful you have no idea, see tons of animals in their natural habitats, eat delicious foods, and overall have your head completely empty of the worries of modern life, and filled with many other wonderful things.

It doesn't really take to be an extrovert, but I can certainly make you one.

>only have to fill my gas tank once a month
>wasps like to get in the spot outside of the gas cap
>dread every month that a new wasp nest is back

I have these really cool gatefold clear vinyls of tomoyo haradas stuff they are really neat. studio ghibli also released some colored vinyls too.

Im more of a shoujo and magical girl guy fma never interested me much.

Aside from games I play pnp rpgs with a friend of mine and I go to the gym with another friend a few times in the week only thing is that this faggot doesn't have time for that the last two weeks so I had to go alone.
Aside from that the normal shit like watching movies an going out with friends.

Yeah there's no question that there's better music out there, but I still go back and listen to those low-fi messes. Even though I don't agree with their politics I still enjoy how offensive it all was for its' time.

I like other music too.

This is some rare good advice on here

My primary hobbies have always been vidya or this shithole.

Occasionally, I buy some figs to put on my shitty cabinet, or enjoy some hard liquors. Pretty fond of Jaƫgermeister, for some reason. I like to cook and read too, but I don't do those often enough to actually consider those hobbies. Lack of motivation is a fucking terrible thing.

Anyway, for you drink enthusiasts, is that Crystal Skull vodka any good?

bleach and Naruto are not really anime shows I would recommend to beginners. or anyone.

flcl is recommeneded for the wrong reasons

Only enjoyable for the references.

Shit. So iv'e been level 6 for a while. What level is Boko no Pico?

Bees are actually pretty great. Some guy across the stream from us started beekeeping and now I get bees coming over to check out my and pollinate my waterlilies. Most of them are tropical lilies as well, so I get new blooms and subsequent little waterlilies daily now all 365 days a year. They also help pollinate the vegetables as well.

noice

So by also watching Shounen Maid Kuro means i'm ascended right?

That's a terrible list, looks like modern Cred Forums's taste in anime, all shonen shit and waifu trash with the occasional classic gem sprinkled it.

Photography, Music, Cycling/Riding Motorcycles. Gaming didn't really influenced me, just thought I'd take these hobbies up.

Proofs, mate.

Paleontology.
Fossil collecting and stuff. Sometimes go to cliffs and do a bit of digging. One day I'll find a new species, so long as a rockfall doesn't kill me.

In addition to vidya I've fished my whole life, mostly with my dad. Occasionally picking berries or mushrooms while at it. I've also been planning to start hunting, and might be getting a bird. All things nature, basically.

you are a total faggot

go dress up as santa clause or someshit you fucking homosexual sperg

I do a bit of art. I'm not amazing or anything but I like to learn and improve.

I've been learning and improving for around 12 years and I'm still nowhere near as good as I could be.

I'm trying to start perfume collecting. Im still learning about the different brands and such. its actually kind of exciting learning about all the different smells.

Autism.

thank you so much, user. I'm going to give this one heck of a go.

user if you want a new smell my ass is always free.

well im no art critique user, but that looks great. Looks like a nice concept art for a video game. Keep it up!

Only if it smells like roses.

Okay, srs question. What brand of perfume do you think is the best so far?

That's cool dude, I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on that shit.

I unironically make ironic hipster electronic music even though I fucking hate electronic music as a whole. I always wanted to start a band but I could never find the right people to fill it, so my only real option is to make electronic music. But all of my music is incredibly lazy and uninspired, I'd rather go for quantity over quality. I have 18 albums worth of music on my last.fm artist page and everything sounds pretty much the same composed using the same basic formula.

serge lutens. some cartier perfumes are good too such as panthere. it really depends on your individual tastes really.

That was a great read.

Thing about music is that you shouldnt disregard every song under a certain genre, there are going to be at least some songs that you like from genres you mostly hate if you are willing to try. Be the change you want to see user, make good hipster beats.

I got back into reading thanks to videogame novels.
When I look back on them, they were really bad, but I'm happy that they helped rekindle my love for books.

Also, I'll shill the kindle paperwhite till I die.

Hey gardenbro. I've only got about five square metres behind my apartment but I've turned all sorts of goodies out of it, cabbages, tomatoes, some potatoes, all sorts. I have a nice little cluster of lavender just for the hell of it (and bees). I've started growing some semi-permanent things in there to lower the maintenance but I'm concerned about my peppers and chillies surviving the winter. I'm gonna construct a pseudo-greenhouse/frostblocker and see if they can hang on. That's it for my personal blog today! (nobody I know cares about this shit)

I play drums. I used to play guitar until I played Rock Band and immediately switched instruments. It made me realize I was playing the wrong instrument for long time, such a waste.

I've been playing drums for 7 years now and I can literally play drums for any umber of hours without getting bored provided that my body endures.

do you prefer to have books digital or physical? I cant get into digital.

Holy shit I bought one of these after seeing the pic

Btw if you aren't a viral marketer then maybe you should consider it

Thanks man. It's going to be a short noir horror comic I'm doing for Halloween. I always loved the bit in Dracula where the ship arrives in harbour with no-one on board, but they find clues as to what happened, so I wanted to do something a little similar.

Here's a better image that I just took. The Dreadnought was painted about a year and a half ago.

Huh, funny. The exact same scenario happened in VTMB where they boarded an ancient vampire and it proceeds to murder the crew.

>even in death, I still guard the smut

It's one of the spookiest chapters in Dracula, so it's not surprising it's inspired a shit tonne of people. Even The Lost World riffed on it.

I prefer digital.
>whispersync lets you read on different devices and it automatically synchs your bookmarks/farthest read, so you can jump from device to device as you see fit
>amazon books are cheap as fuck, and if you can't find what you want, just pirate the MOBI file and its just as good
>smartphones/kindle are light as hell, so you can hold them with 1 hand as you read for hours.
>highlights/translations/dictionary can be done by just holding finger on a word/sentence

I actually have a fair bit of trouble reading physical books after 4 years of digital. Especially because they require you to hold them differently to keep the pages in check.
The only thing I miss about physical books is having a neat shelf full of books, but on the other hand, I have been reading twice as much as I would have, and it's easy to browse your collection of books on the windows version of the kindle program

Is there a specific reason for why you can't get into digital?

Not him but I like having a shelf full of books, throwing glance at it, seeing a title and remembering something from that book. Maybe thats just me, I like passing it and being reminded of it. Same with vidya and movies, I prefer physical.

I'm a blogger, if you can call that a hobby. I extensively use tumblr to blog about anime and reblog cute things like pastel themed photographs of Japanese stuffed toys, lots of that llama thing and Rillakuma. I also make a lot of anime gifs. I have amassed quite a large number of followers, mostly females. I follow back pretty much everyone who follows me. My dashboard has quite a few sjw types. Now here's the fun part, I methodically post random sexist/offensive shit knowing full well the audience I have. A few anime girls with Make America Great Again hats edit here, a few Kangoku Senkan gifs there. Most people just assume I'm a girl based on my usual posts and reblogs then I hit them from out of nowhere with gifs of dark elf girl getting fucked silly by orcs and I want my followers number drop. I'm not doing the whole thing just to troll tumblrites either, I genuinely like all the cute shit I post.

There's so many little reasons. A book just feels good in your hand. It's pretty hard to explain. You can smell that new book smell or feel all the wear and tear you've inflicted on it through years of rereads. There's no replacing the feeling of having your favorite book in physical form in your hand. Besides the feel of owning a physical book, there also practical reasons.

You can't share your phone or tablet with your friend, but you can lend them your book. You can abuse your book all you like without having to pay hundreds of dollars to replace it. You can own a book for pretty much ever and pass it down to your family. You can toss it across the room in anger when the story takes a sour turn and again, not have to pay hundreds to replace it. You can give someone a book as a gift. Your eyes don't hurt with a book and you don't have to stop reading if the battery runs out when you're outside. I also collect alot of art books and I couldnt imagine looking at those in a digital format.

go back to your containment generals you fucks

heh, you're the faggot that bought the one with the moustache aren't you?

I make moonshine in my basement.

I totally get that feeling, but with the kindle app on either my phone or on windows I can quickly browse through my collection. It's not the same, but it still lets me reminisce without taking up space

mostly completely valid reasons, but
>but you can lend them your book
that is possible on amazon, you can lend people a kindle ebook for up to 14 days. They just need to download the free kindle app and they are good to go.
>your eyes don't hurt with a book and you don't have to stop reading when battery runs out
The paperwhite replicates real paper and does not have a backlit screen (the light comes from the sides). When my cousin showed me his kindle I couldn't believe it. The battery on the thing lasts for months.

anyway the thing about smelling books and the feel of it, I totally get. I don't feel like this myself but I can understand how people like it.
If you don't like digital then don't force it, just enjoy reading the way you like to mate. whatchu been reading?
