SMT 1 + 2
Wizardry 1 2 3

there are SOOOOOOOOO many of these fucking games on the vita

Might and Magic series
Wizardry series
Eye of the Beholder series
Legend of Grimrock 2
Dungeon Master + Chaos Strikes Back

>Legend of Grimrock 2
Anything wrong with the first one?

Swords and Sorcery: Underworld
Ultima Underworld 1 and 2
Menzoberranzan
Grimoire
Ravenloft games

no

you can play the wizardry games obviously.
the jap ps1 version of the first three games has an english option with automap so you don't have to draw your own maps.
unless you want to of course.
there's also all the games on vita

this game just got translated too
romhacking.net/translations/2061/

Aren't there, like, TONS of Japanese only Wizardry games? Why does Japan love Wizardry so fucking much.

as well as Megami Tensei 1,2 and persona 1

it basically kickstarted rpg's over there as a whole.

Brandish and Brandish 2 on the SNES

You'll need this translation patch to play Brandish 2 though: romhacking.net/translations/1442/

people seem to not like hg101 as much anymore, but there's a really nice section devoted to wizardry on there.
hardcoregaming101.net/wizardry/wizardry.htm

I'm actually reading through that right now, which is why I made the thread in the first place. Pretty good read, I think.

Weeb fagit reporting

also try Bunny Black 1 & 2 if you don't mind the porn.

I'm vehemently anti-weeb and believe you should be euthanized, but I'm still interested in picking up Stranger of Sword City during a sale.

I only came into this thread to say Ultima Underworld 1 and 2 but some classy fuck did my work for me.

i'm sure it's like religious thing to them.
at the very least, it'll keep traditional old school rpg's from going the way of the dodo.
now that more and more games seem to be going the hybrid action game route.

>Give me a list of dungeon crawlers
>>>/google/

I'm surprised nobody mention Etrian Odyssey.
The fifth floor of that one is total bullshit, though. No way of beating it without a guide.

Play Legend of Grimrock 1
and Legend of Grimrock 2

LoG2 is my favorite dungeoner of ALL TIME. It is the best out of very very many I have played. I would say second best is Dungeon Master 1 from the Atari/old computer systems. You can emulate that one easily too.

I've played probably almost 40 of these things by now, to be honest a lot of them are shit but I still like them.

if you've never played one before
>grimrock
>might and magic 6
>wizardry 8
>arx fatalis
good starting points covering pretty much every type
sword city is not a good game most of the jap wizardry clones aren't very good at all

You sure about Wiz8? I always avoided it since I heard it was a bottomless nightmare of autism that would drive you crazy unless you follow guides so as not to completely fuck your party.

8 is great.
6 is probably what you are talking about.
that game will screw over the unprepared.
everyone probably qualifies honestly

MOTHERFUCKING SWORDS AND SERPENTS

>multiple floors of badassery
>puzzles and shit
>best be drawing maps as you go nigger because you only remember the last 2 floors you have been on
>gotta collect them ruby treasures
>ZOOM TUBE ACTIVATED
>dat fucking theme music will haunt you for the rest of your life
>the ruby sword lays at the point of the sword

Wiz8 is probably the only wizardry game with intuitive and straightforward character building. The fights can be tough though.

yeah it's great a true classic
it's actually the easiest wizardry to get into you don't even need to read the manual to figure anything out

So tough they apparently make you post a different game.

i dont have wiz8 screenshots

really only 3 problems with wiz8
>random encounters can be fucking brutal to the point of being unwinnable
>battles can last way too long even with the mod that speeds up battle animations long battles can last like 20 minutes
>enemy magic attacks affect the whole party while some of your attacks can only affect a single enemy
great game though, one of the last real innovative rpgs

Weeb shit reporting in:

Class of Heroes 1 & 2(PSP)
Students of the Round(PC/PSP/360)
Generation Xth(PC)

I also vote for Grimrock 1 & 2 as well as Wizardry 8, a few of my favorites.

>one of the last real innovative rpgs
I WANT TO BELIEVE

oh yeah when is that coming out? i only remember it getting kickstarted years ago
also where the fuck is ascendant? does that one even have a release date
fucking kickstarter

Diablo 1

No idea. They released a teaser for it though. Looks fine visually except for that last monster but I'm more interested in the mechanics it will have. They keep talking about the vertical slice coming soon for Ascendant.
youtube.com/watch?v=ylU1-_L3SrY

>he doesn't consider Might & Magic 6 to be the best dungeon crawler of all time

What does it feel like to have such shit taste?

I have to give wizardry 8 the edge in terms of combat. Still have more fun exploring in MM6. I wonder what a MM and HoMM3 hybrid would look like.

If that counts, then the rest of the Diablo series, Torchlight, and Path of Exile

Although when I really think about it, MM6 had really fast combat unlike wizardry 8 which made it much less tedious.

How many party members do you like in your RPG, Cred Forums?

4, but i prefer my partners to be ai controlled

Real men don't need a party. Real men go solo, even if it means a lot of saving and reloading

5 or 6, two rows.

I miss the Cred Forums launch threads. Even though they were mostly about character portraits.

pre-made characters, whatever the dev feels is right.

custom made, six.

stranger is another experience game right?
is fighter/warrior still stuck mostly normal attacking and concentrating every once in a while?

Stonekeep

FUCKING WAXWORKS FAGGOT.

GET READY FOR SPOOKS AND GOD TIER DEATH SCENES.

youtube.com/watch?v=axqRgDkWXA0

>real men
>savescumming

No. You're the lowest form of life on Earth.

Have fun wasting ten hours of your life because you got hit with an unavoidable instant death attack , user.

honestly you probably wasted even more time getting to that same point.

Yes, every Experience game is the same thing with another coat of paint.

check out eliminage.
i got it for the vita, but i think it's on steam.
it's pretty solid.
if you do get it on psp, make sure you get a patched version to make the bad translation less bad.

Starting from a previous save when you die isn't savescumming, you fucktard.

Savescumming is when you reload over and over to try something until it works, which is what scrubs like you have to do when you try to solo party based games.

You can multi-class.

Rogue legacy and darkest dungeon.

I highly recommend Arcana if you'd like a simple one to start on, with a cool aesthetic and awesome soundtrack

It's made by the Kirby team, so it's vibrant and colorful and pleasant. And it's pretty cool to hear that Kirby soundfont used for an RPG/Adventure game

youtube.com/watch?v=wCrf_gRZFDc

First RPG I ever played.

it kinda gets grating.
i know some people don't like demon gaze, but i liked how you could get skills and move them around.

So you took "a lot of saving and reloading" and took it to mean save scumming, and I'm the fucktard. No, you fucking idiot, you're the retard who doesn't understand higher difficult=more dying=more reloading. Don't get mad at me because you're too bad at games to do a solo play through,

>Kirby team
I've heard of this game before but THAT got me really interested. Definitely gonna check this out
