The reason tourneyfags and so-called 'good' players don't like Customs is because of their inability to adapt, which in the technical sense, makes them BAD at Smash. Customs is all about changing stats and what you are used to, forcing on the fly adaptation. A true test of skills. Tourneyfags don't like losing in Customs, because it reminds them that they aren't as good as they thought they were.

Part of the appeal of any fighting game is getting to fully understand the mechanics, matchups, etc and applying all that knowledge to see if it holds up against other players and their knowledge.

It's not a matter of adapting, a lot of custom moves are completely unbalanced shit that break the character, and even so, there is still shit like equipment which changes the stats to broken levels, add 3 other players and it's just not fun, it gets old after 10 minutes.

There's a reason custom moves were tried in tournaments and are now dead, it didn't work. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy them but don't act like an autist when your tourney is dead and other people refuse to play in it.

what equipment do you put on to do that?

Not that user (I assume Ayres?) but I know Robin has a custom special that basically doubles his Neutral Specials. Then, throw on a bunch of extremely high attack boosting equipment and yeah. I've never once not seen that Thoron kill any character from 0% to death and certainly break any shield that went up to try and block it, perfect or not. It can't be spotdodged either since it's too slow.
