Dark Souls 3 was actually awful, it was way too fast paced and none of the mechanics were set up to follow up on it, resulting in a game where there was a very clear way of winning instead of variation, where DS1 excelled.

While Multiplayer, and DLC was like EA interference the stories,game play, conversations, actors and actress hired were all Bioware. The writing was on the wall when you compare Baldur's Gate to Neverwinter Nights, Neverwinter Nights to KotoR, KotoR to Jade Emprie, Jade Empire to Mass Effect. All those anons that thought ME2 was some biproduct of EA meddling were either in denial of the failure coming or just wants more reasons then we already have to hate EA. EA was and and still is the worse publisher to date starting trends that have hurt other companies but I think it's as clear as day that Bioware was a case of letting a once restricted team (Microsoft kept their thumb on Biowaere pretty hard) run wild and do what they wanted, and we the consumers suffered for it.

Witcher 3 was not as good as people jack it up to be.
The story is about your character who is after a mary-sue to the extreme.
They dump this character on the people who played the games and have no idea who the fuck she is or why she is in the game.
If you read the books then you at least had an idea it was coming but its still piss poor writing.
The open world is barren as all fuck and adds nothing to the game except running around and collecting side shit that doesn't mean anything.
So many of the side quests are just go here, batman vision, find thing and kill it.
The battle system still suffers from style over substance. Way to many times the hero will spin and twirl around like an idiot against an enemy that is point blank and get hit before he can connect because he was to busy spinning about like an idiot and not just swinging his blade at the enemy, Witcher 2 had this problem and it was still prevalent in the 3rd game.
I just was not a fan of W3, sad but the combat annoyed the shit out of me, the barren open world just made me bored and the story to find the chosen one was just fucking horrible.

The Halo franchise is great, but CE is massively overrated and is tied with halo 4 as the worst game in the series, being only an 8/10 at best. Halo 5 has the best multiplayer the series has ever had, just a bit above Halo 2/H2A

2d sonic is worse then 3d sonic. Sonic Generations is only barely better then the other 3d sonic games people shit on. The boost formula is shit and it's only made worse by the fact there are 2d sections shoved into the 3d levels. Sonic Adventure 2, while very flawed, is fun as fuck and is easily the best sonic game. The treasure hinting and mech levels in it are fun even if they areen't good as the speed ones. Freedom planet is 2d sonic done right.

Wind Waker is overrated as fuck. The game is actually short with just a few dungeons and just extends it's gameplay time by traveling a lot on the sea.

Miyamoto's approach to Mario is right even when it comes to RPGs. Regardless of how much people like them if loads of new characters were endlessly added to every series every entry the cast of Mario would spiral out of control, it already has more characters than they can realistically utilise. The series itself is already full of characters that even when they show up in games(Toadsworth) don't actually do anything.

The mainline series(3D Mario) should be creating most of the new characters. The spin-offs should be thinking of creative ways to use existing and newly introduced characters. While sparingly introducing their own original characters when necessary(e.g. Starlow).

The only FPS's that are truly great are Quake (mostly Q3A for duel/TDM/CTF, defrag for movement, Q1 for TDM, CPM just for super fun combat, Q1 SP is alright and my second favorite SP FPS), and Doom (only singleplayer), any other ones fail in some important aspects. No other SP FPS nearly as good enemy design as Doom, and a lot of the other good aspects are uncommon even in the other popular FPS's . No other MP FPS has the speed of Q3A while still retaining the intelligence aspect of the game (where CPM duel fails for example), while having smooth satisfying non-binary (UT4 for example is the polar opposite, you press a button and it does the movement, and it's not smooth at all).
Don't think lots of praise for these two games are unpopular, but that every other FPS is mediocre in comparison.

I think Doom fans are dismissive of aspects of the game that Doom itself doesn't bother with.

For example, doom completely lacks any sort of compelling narrative (not even saying it needs to be complex, it can be simple even), good environmental variety, etc.

Think the game works better without a narrative, not that narratives are generally bad. Part of what makes Doom good as a fast-paced FPS is how it's designed not to slow you down much (although still having proper pacing). I'm not saying it's the best in all aspects, but certain aspects which I appreciate the most in FPS's are basically done best in Doom.

The enemy design, how they work when paired together, is really geniusly made for being one of the first FPS's. You don't really have games with as much projectile dodging as Doom, with enemies with a lot of different patterns, and other enemies to mix things up so it's not just dodging projectiles. Think it's easier to explain what's wrong with other FPS's enemy designs than to explain exactly why Dooms is so good. For example, Quake's enemies were pretty bullet spongy, a lot of them had moving melee swings, a lot were melee, your movement was slower, so you can't have nearly as many enemies in a fight as Doom. You don't really get the same dodging of projectiles, and no fun things that mix it up such as Archviles. You're mostly just running backwards through small corridors shooting at the enemies. When there are an okay amount of enemies in a fight, how you have to fight isn't particularly fun/interesting, it's mostly the same backwards running, or strafing around the whole crowd shooting in. Compare good Doom user made levels and Quake ones to see just how much less you can do with the Quake enemies.

It's by no means perfect, but I had a lot of fun playing it. Some of the complaints are valid, like revisiting areas instead of going to new ones, but other issues are so minor but for some reason they get way overblown, like people thinking Fi is fucking cancerous waste or something. Sure, sometimes she can blab a bit too much, but that doesn't ruin the game. And don't even get me started on the motion controls, which apparently people don't know how to use.
Just try it out and make your own opinion. It's not the best Zelda, but it's not a bad game.

PC games really should have an option beyond "ultra" graphical settings along with a means of capping the frame rate at 24, 30, 45 etc so you can get more detail out of between-frame post effects.

what would be the point of having an option beyond ultra? like what do you mean? they draw models and ultra is usually the highest quality version of those models. unless you mean unoptimizations like "no model draw distance cap" or other things people would just complain about being unoptimized until the technology is cheap. also if it isn't capped at 60 there is usually some way to change fps to higher or lower
