Why isn't anybody talking about VR anymore?

Why isn't anybody talking about VR anymore?

It's a meme you dip

Because it was a short lived fad that never caught on despite the mediatic overexposure it got

Nothing to really talk about until some proper full length games come out.

I want to try making a VR game, but I'm worried it'll be difficult

I have this sneaking suspicion that it isn't as easy as subjugating two scene cameras to two viewports (each VR screen for each eye respectively) and then spacing them apart so that it feels natural to the player. No, I bet there is a whole another step involving tweaks to depth-of-field that I can't even comprehend that I'm sure I'd never get right and cause any player playing my game to want to vomit due to motion sickness.

It's a nice fantasy when you dream up of all the possibilities that may come to fruition thanks to VR. But the reality is that it's tough and expensive as fuck to put as much of an investment into it without definite payoff for either the developers or the consumers. So, it's stagnant and will likely just die off like motion controls, 3D and all other gimmicks.

your a meme

Which will never happen because no one will make a proper game for 200 people.
Closest you're going to get are porn 'games' from .jp and few almost-games payed by Sonny to push their brand of vomit inducer.

Because it's not affordable and poorfags are pretending they didn't want it.

That's bullshit but I'll bite anyway.
What are the 'ritchfags' playing?
Give me some good list of VR entertainment so I have something to look forward to while flipping burgers for $.

The only thing it's good for right now is flight sims.

Once the prices start to drop I'll probably pick up a headset and play nothing but IL-2.

There is nothing to enjoy, it's a pure vanity purchase to show that you are "in" with the latest trends and that you can afford to spend money on something that will induce projectile vomiting if used for longer than 20 minutes

Well, there's Fallout 4.

Elite Dangerous
Hot Dogs, Horseshoes, and Hand Grenades
House of the Dying Sun
Hover Junkers
NewRetroArcade
Assetto Corsa
Raw Data
Porn

So basically there's raw data, elite dangerou, and fallout 4

Tell me, why would I spend 800 bingo bongos to play raw data and 2 games I can play anyways?

>Tell me, why would I spend 800 bingo bongos to play raw data and 2 games I can play anyways?

You don't. Honestly, it's really great tech, and I've had loads of fun fucking around with it, but right now it's not worth it. Wait for the next gen headsets.

I want to impregnate that blob

Waiting on Danganronpa VR, OP.

You're worried it's difficult because of the linear algebra that's abstracted away by game engines, and not the problem of, like, making a video game that uses an exotic control scheme and is still somehow fun?

When are all the good fetish porn games coming out?

I saw a TV show where they showcased a convention center and the interviewed said they sold about 300 PS "VR"s in an hour of public demonstrations. An interviewed pre-order taker said they were very excited about VR because its a different experience and its more stimulating.

I also saw the HTC Vive and Oculus but the demos for those were less games but more tech demos. Like one where you wear the Vive and explore a rendition of a map of a museum. And mobile phone-based VR too. So yeah. It seems that no one is talking but its because there are not many games.

The biggest problem with VR is that it has no games.
Maybe PSVR can fix that, but maybe that will flop too. Making a good VR game is apparently tricky stuff.

Gets shitposted here every day. I guess you don't hear people actually using it because Cred Forums is a bunch of poorfags and underaged kids that can't afford it.
