cartridges are not officially confirmed but the new zelda is registered in cartridge form as well as existence of patents, and since its only going to be released on the NX and Wii u, and the wii u doesnt have cartridges, its safe to assume that the NX will have. this is also a good choice, since current form of cartridges are superior to optical media in pretty much every way

So here's the deal: Nintendo's gonna do an announcement of a date that the reveal is gonna happen on. It's gonna be livestreamed, or a direct, or something that people can watch in-addition to press. Now, one of these announcements is only ever going to happen 2-7 days prior to the event, which basically rules out the possibility of the announcement being on a Thursday or Friday. Since Nintendo doesn't do weekends, that rules that out as well.

They have a investor's meeting on the 26th and it would appear very bad if they hadn't revealed the NX by then. The release is in 5 months and no info? Yikes. The chance of the reveal not being in October is also unlikely due to the high traffic game releases of November and December. PS4 pro is releasing, all the big blockbuster games are releasing, and the holiday sales for all consoles start. It'd be an overcrowded time to reveal something like that.

Then again, it's Nintendo. They haven't made sense for over a year now.

Eurogamer claimed that an verified and trusted insider said the NX is a tegra-powered hybrid that connects to a dock that would display on the TV. It featured removable controllers for some reason. Also said it would be revealed in September. Other sources like IGN and Gamespot corroborated this, but it's beginning to look more and more unlikely.

the reason there wasn´t any port was because there was always Backwards Compability. I don´t think they will have BC this gen, maybe from this gen upwards, but if Hybring no U/3DS BC.

That is the reason I want the port, I don´t care if it looks, plays exactly the same. E.g. GBA Pokemon games look better on DSlite, because the Screen has better colour saturation and is brighter, Pokemon DS Games on 3ds look like shit, because its colour saturation isn´t as good as the lite and it isn´t brighter than the lite.

So why shouldn´t GF make a port, without any enhancments?

well I don´t think they will do 3D again on a handheld? Nobody really used it, but some games depend on that probably so you wouldn´t be able to play those games, also I think the architecture is also not modern anymore. And NX will probably have only one screen

That could work, but it all depends on how the thing works in the end. The rumors so far say you actually dock the core of the handheld, screen included to the dock station, so if it's like that, then that wouldn't work.

To be precise it's a flexible tablet shaped like a mobile.
The core, holding the battery, the GPU, the CPU, and the wifi, will be connected to the tablet by a wire.
The tablet would turn transparent, to play enhanced reality games.
It'll also be able to download smartphone games, as previous DS games (control panel will appear on the screen).

It's just to cover up the fact that Eurogamer was previously wrong.

Pretty common for the first dev kits to be weaker prototypes with Developers told what the 'target specs' will be. This caused problems with early PS3 games because the target specs were notably above what the console ended up being.

The first DS dev kit was literally two GBAs taped together
