and when you say brake more, do you mean the e-brake or the normal brake? because regardless of what car I use, if I hold the A-button (e-brake) for too long then I spin out no matter what

it doesn't help that the drift challenge is on a sand road. i had enough trouble with the hard difficulty drift bucket lists in forza horizon 2 and those were on paved surfaces.

I found the Holden SandKing station wagon makes an excellent drift missile. The roo bars front end gives the front end a ton of grip and you can just throw the ass end around.

Actually its optimized better on PC. You can have better graphics than the xbone.

The issue is that its optimized for 30 fps. A GTX 970 and a shitty i5 can run this game at ultra no problems with 8x MSAA while xbone can only have 4x MSAA and lower resolution textures. But again, at 30 fps. Because thats what the game was optimized for.

I replay it every other year and it finally feels properly dated. I have several NFS games pirated and when I'm in the mood for one of them I've been picking Rivals or the new Hot Pursuit over MW. E-brake is gonna do that, its meant to be used for drifting.

Converting a car to awd will give you much more control in and out of corners. Tweaking camber, rollbars and springs can also help fine tune your handling. The little box on the right side of the tune screen will tell you how to manage oversteer and understeer.

Forza Motorsport tries to be sim but really falls under the "sim-cade" bracket. Basically, an arcadey racer with emphasis on more realistic mechanics (trail braking, weight transfer, tuning, etc) but still has a floatyness about it. Forza Horizon titles take that arcade feel of the main series and tune it up a fair noticeable bit.

The performance stuff is really strange. If I start in the city area my framerate is fine (70-80 on high, 4xAA), even in the races. If I drive elsewhere and then come back the framerate is bad, and worse in races.

ended up getting the horizion edition viper and grinding byron bay giant circuit forza horizion 3 and getting 100k xp the 1st time coming 2nd and 600k credits and 140k xp the 2nd time coming first

Shit was so cash i thoroughly recommend online freeroam rather than single player, went from rank 20 to 45 in 3 hours

3 laps of that huge circuit takes like 30 mins too easy long straights fun as fuck only did 10:24 best lap so far

get forza horizion 3 but may i suggest you get a cheap key or buy it from the store because if you cant play it there is no way around it.

Dirt Rally isnt very deep and there isnt much variety but its more of a sim where as fh3 is more fun and ive put 10x more time into it

I run the game w/ a OC'd 970 and i5 6600k, w/ 16GB RAM, pull in about 80-100 FPS on high settings usually. 12 man races bring it down to 75, and surfer's paradise it just tanks to 40-60. There also seems to be problems with stutters.

On a side note, the photo mode is also fucking garbage.

Should probably also mention I'm running it at 1920x1200.

I got this (Logitech® MOMO® Racing Force Feedback) at a goodwill several years ago for like 13 bucks. Only thing that was missing was 24V power supply which I snagged off ebay for another 10 or so bucks. It's not a g27 but it works fantastically in racing games. Only trouble I had with it was in ETS2 where the wheel spins 900 degrees and the MOMO only gets up to 270.

Anyone getting crazy menu lag in the car upgrade screen?

I have a gtx970 and performance is much better than what I see everywhere.
running with a 6600k and 16gb
4x msaa, fxaa off, shadows on high, most others settings on ultra except world cars on high too, and I get like 80fps + driving in the forests, or in the outback.

some parts of the city are ok, others are awful, with drops to 40fps and MAJOR input lag which make some of those races very tedious to drive. Its not stuttering either, but it feels like 15 fps and even tho I have a gsync monitor, it doesnt work that well here, even if 40-45fps is the perfect range for it.
So I cant put my finger on it but sometimes it feels off.

vram usage caps at 3918mb.

I have one of the first gen of 970 and I read some didnt have the same problems with vram than others.

Also I dont know how some people take those amazing screenshots, I know photo mode is bugged on pc ( even tho I think its more about tweaking the photo settings to get something not blurry, than buggy ), and when trying to take a screenshot with print screen then copy paste to paint pic related is what I get.
86fps with the settings mentioned above as you can see but it looks much better in game.

All in all its an awesome racing game, reminds me of PGR4, but even better.
I heavily recommend turning all assists off and play manual ( without clutch tho ), I use a 360 pad, finding the limits and trying out different cars is great.

I like the drifting in this game,is easy but not just tap X to drift, it has some depth to it, I need to control the throttle a lil better and formula drift here we go

I found that by uncapping framerate it runs a lot better this is my screenshot and uncapping fps in the options and turning off vsync in nvidia control panel completely got rid of the stuttering in the menus, but somehow makes the rest of the game feel worse than capped 60fps, so I turned on cap and vsync again.

Trust me when I say it's much, much harder in real life. Racing games can't accurate simulate the sheer amount of dust or other shit that cars will kick up behind them.

If you're unlucky enough to be behind a rally car, you cannot see shit. At all.

If I uncap my game the framerate just goes to shit, playing at Ultra 4xMSAA 30fps with no problems with a 970/i5/16gbram

It took some seriously skill to drive the old Quatros and Lancias. And you needed some serious minerals, those things were quick and deadly. Shame current cars are capped to like 300bhp these days.

Dirt is fantastic, and while the weather selection is pretty limited in forza ( sunny / rain ) I can get the same feeling just driving around with some cars.

The night is also very well done like in Dirt, its actually dark and going fast is tough when you have to rely on a small beam of light.

The actual cars are faster, but you have a lot more of the car to help you. Better everything pretty much. Better brakes, better suspension, chassis much stronger.
