NX info

- Iwata gain the idea of combining the Mobile, Handheld, and the Console markets in order to reduce the development for games on multiple devices so the team could focus and to prevent making duplicate games as seen with Mario Kart 7 for the 3DS and Mario Kart 8 for Wii U, or more obviously Smash Bros for Wii U. This would give Nintendo more time to make new original content. As well as open a bigger market for 3rd party publishers to port their games too.

- The NX is a Wii U Tablet-like device, purchase of the device comes with a PC-like tower that would be the "console version" of the device. The idea comes from seeing Wii U owners bringing the Wii U with them in their backpacks and plugging the console into outlets so they could play Wii U games on their tablet. The idea is that each NX will be a self functioning tablet that will play NX games on the go at a lower graphical setting with the possibility of some gaming restrictions depending on the publishers, Nintendo's goal is to have every game operational on the lower powered setting. The tablet will have removable WiiMote attachments that functions as the button and analog sticks, they can be flipped upside down or switched to the other side of the tablet as well.

- Different WiiMote attachments are being planned out for different games and it's planned to sell these special game attachments alongside their corresponding games.

- Nintendo will be releasing their very own "mobile" app store. Ultimately the eShop will be combining with the 3DS and Wii U shop into one huge app store. Mobile developers will be free to publish content onto the NX eShop but Nintendo will be monitoring all content for approval. Think early Apple App Store.

- Nintendo is making the NX in order to appeal to kids who are now turning to gaming on their parents phones. As well as trying to sell a "Tablet" to the general market.

- The NX at launch will be one tablet and tower. With discussions of delaying NX in order to release stand-alone tablets alongside the devices release.

- Nintendo thinks that even though TV's are now bigger, local multiplayer is dying due to console limitations, and how kids now interact with each other. The idea is to have portable console that interact with each other like online gaming with each device handling it's own power.

- 3D is officially removed from the device but there are plans to release a 3D enabled tablet. But Nintendo is unsure if there is a market for it.

- The NX is cartridge base and can run DS & 3DS games. Wii and Wii U games will not be able to run on the NX, but Nintendo is planning on porting many Wii U titles over to the NX to compensate.

- Wii U and some 3DS games will be ported over to NX. For example Pokken Tournament, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Super Smash Bros will be ported over to the NX with added content.

- Smash NX will be ported late but plans are to add a few new character namely Ice Climbers. However plans to add Inklings and Mario characters have been discussed.

Nintendo feels like Smash Bros doesn't need an entirely new game and that they want to begin building on their older titles with constant updates while creating dedicated teams to those games. (ALA Splatoon) Nintendo has learned a lot from Splatoon and the direction on how some games are being developed.

- Nintendo is hoping that with the additional customization via attachments will keep retailers interested.

- Amiibo's continue to sell well. But Nintendo is still at a cross on how they want to distribute exclusive Amiibo content. Nintendo doesn't want to lock content to Amiibo but they also want to be able to do the fun ideas they have for Amiibo. An Amiibo game IS being made thanks for Reggie, however this doesn't solve any initial problems Nintendo sees with Nintendo. One of the biggest issues is the memory storage, Nintendo wants to continue playing with the Smash Bros idea of having a portable character with it's own stats, but notes that the storage limitations prevents them from doing anything really fun with them. Plans are being made for a storage system where people can store their Amiibo data onto their NX consoles. For example you have to erase a Mario Amiibo's Smash Data in order to have it function in Mario Party. Uploading the Mario's data in order to interchange the data.

- Project Robot will now become a new Custom Robo game. Nintendo is trying to make Custom Robo amiibo's that parts are interchangable. And when a part is changed the Amiibo/Robo is changed in game as well. Nintendo wants the Amiibo to function as a actual action figure, the idea came when they were creating Guardian the Zelda Breath of the Wild Amiibo.

- Iwata death shook up the company is a positive. The older developers already long discussed that the younger employees haven't had enough spotlight or chance to work on their own games or share their new ideas. And that the future success of the company is with them. So with game development now moving to one device they plan on creating more chances to allow their young devs to create new ideas and create their own IP's.

- Iwata's quality of life products are phasing out, but not completely. Ideas from development will incorporated into the NX in some shape or form.

- A share button/feature will be functioned into the NX. Nintendo wants people to share clips and images online through social media. They see Miitomo and Wind Waker HD as a huge success and that pushing social media in this matter helps advertise their product and creates a good public image of being exciting and fun.

- Some NX ports are ending up becoming new entries in the franchise. Kid Icarus: Uprising was being ported to the Wii U and then development shifted to the NX. But with the NX having interchangeable controls Nintendo thought making a new Kid Icarus game with this idea in mind would be a great idea on trying new control designs. Nintendo wants to avoid the failure of Uprising's control choice for being uncomfortable.

- The intended announcement for the NX is constantly being delayed because Nintendo is still having some ideas finalized. They are being extra careful but also worried that if they announce too soon other companies would react and have too much time to prepare for the NX release since Nintendo is targeting to compete with Mobile and Console makers. They want to dominate the market with this idea for an entire year to help sell the product.

Hah, thanks for writing all this fanfiction
I know people complain about it but it's fun to read

I love the part where Iwata is still working in the NX even with the considerable handicap of being dead.

Development for the NX started well before Iwata's death. A lot of ideas we're shared throughout the company. Iwata built the new HQ and combined the handheld and console game teams into one building in order to help pursue this change of direction to correspond with this idea.

Sounds like alot of hoopla but..
*sighs, unzips dick*

Does Nintendo plan on competing directly against Android and iOS?

please understand

Seriously, what's this guy's work? being a meme source?

You are always very far off.

I tell you and you do not listen. Never do you.

Is not tablet.

> The tablet will have removable WiiMote attachments that functions as the button and analog sticks, ...
That's as far as you go OP, Kimishima said they want to get away from the Wii brand. Which means no more Wiimotes compatible with NX.

do that thing where you post a paper and date and some proof of having connections with nintendos

Cred Forums likes that kinda shit.

then what is?

Nintendo do feel like they are stepping into their territory. However they hope that NX is seen more as a handheld gaming device in order to avoid any direct competition. Ultimately the goal is to have the Eshop as a standalone app store sort of like Amazon app store or the Google Playstore. The competition is towards those markets, but Nintendo feels like offering full console games on their eShop will help stand themselves apart from the competition.

h-he's big

Very fun read, but i dread a continuation off wii. I cant wait to play new and innovative games. We need new ocarina of times and mario 64s to save todays blase sonyfied gaming landscape.

I hope so. Because this sounds like a extremely good idea and the best way of making Amiibos interactive.

Though, it's mostly likely to be a fake.

I'm merely describing the attachments as Wiimote-like in design in order to better describe what these attachments are.

can you share one hint about a new IP?

Yes, that is perfect. Thank you.

The idea is still being played with for the custom robo parts and how they can keep them functional. As well as keeping the parts cheap and affordable. The current idea is too pricey and it involves having each Robo part being scanned in, which result in having much larger Custom Robo figures. Which would tie nicely into the game's new presence of being larger fighting robots rather then mini ones. But the cost for these larger custom robo amiibo parts might be too expensive for the market. So the goal is to keep the parts small and affordable. If an affordable method cannot be found selling regular amiibos based on the models that function as action figures will be the most likely scenario.

is the reveal in october? You can say mario if yes, or luigi if no.

What is that dude

Are they going to do something with the Eternal Darkness IP and trademark?

booster packs of parts maybe? sounds fun!

Most new IP's are in the blocky stage. Development starts from a fun gameplay idea with the identity/design being chosed afterwards.

Although Intelligent Systems is working on a new story based IP however this might end up being a new Fire Emblem title due to series success. But the ideas are different enough to be it's own IP and making a it a new Fire Emblem is going against Nintendo's new approach to "not make every new idea a Mario game"

Looks like a drone controller.

There is no controller like an R/C plane controller. Everything about it feels right.

Reverse Google it user. Freshly leaked.

Bowser

>another fucking Hyrule Warriors port
I'm still mad about the first one.

That would actually be pretty neat.
Smash 4 but being constantly updated with free DLC.

The only thing i care about is about smash bros 5. More specifically if it's going to be melee 2.0 or brawl 3.0

It'll be an enhanced port of Smash 4

It's still being discussed if all future content will be free or if it should be sold as DLC. The idea of what should be considered free and what should be considered paid for is up for discussion. Nintendo is interested in the Gacha game approach of rolling for content, but they think it's too much like gambling. Currently Nintendo plans on having additional content be free for the first few months before announcing or releasing any plans on additional paid content. Ultimately they want to satisfy consumers first and want to approach this on what consumers will best react too.

Dude just click on the post number to reply to it

Tell me about Miyamoto

Let us hope not. Let HAL do it this time. Hopefully sakurai keeps his word and doesnt get involved this time.

>free DLC
Funny joke there, user.

Im trying to think of a good question. If i could know just one thing, do you believe any of the upcoming titles in the next years will be innovative "game changers" for the industry? If youre for real, thanks.

Nintendo wants to invest more in E-Sports because of the growing interest with their IP's in that market. But they don't want their IP's to be treated simply as advertisements. There is still research and ideas being pitched on how to profit from this market.

what is: splatoon
or
mario maker

Hi can you please post some kind of proof of legitimacy?
Even just through text can you try and defend your realness?

Some of the things are questionable, namely the custom robo stuff and variety of controller attachments. That seems too gimmicky.

>gimmicky
thats how you know it's real.

Have you seen the new mario? Is it 11/10?

Hard to know for sure what big "game changers" will be well received by the industry. Nintendo is eyeing Pokemon Go for example because they see interest pitching ideas for it. But they think that the way current mobile app stores are set up is to make games die as a fad too quickly. They see in Japan that apps that provide constant updates are the most success. So there are things moving a little bit in that general direction. The real game changers would be to how they will separate themselves from the competition in my opinion.

Let me clarify that Nintendo isn't pitching ideas for Pokemon Go. But ideas revolving around games that track your surroundings in order to connect people together. This is how some quality of life ideas would come to play.

This is an interesting fanfiction.
It's bullshit but I'm enjoying it.

Who are you?

>it's an autistic roleplayer thread

Will they surprise people like they used to? I miss the curve balls and wild fantasy announcements.

President of Nintendo of America.

He used to be a PR guy, and has a real knack for that sort of thing.

What do you consider surprising?

Bringing a series back from the dead, reinventing things, pushing game design forward

Does Nintendo know how much they're making their fans suffer with this nonannouncement time?

I don't know of many games being brought back. There was a opportunity for Mother 4 but Nintendo thinks it wouldn't sell too well. However due to the success of Undertale there is interest using the Mother franchise in someway. But nothing is progressing or moving forward.

Maybe the team working on the announcement is delaying the pain from knowing what the NX really is
