>knowing/caring about anything FF related post IX

you deserve it

Soken is better than Mizuta at battle music is what happened. Ragnarok isn't even an exciting song.

>boop boop boop bee-RISE WITH ME RISE WITH RISE WITH ME RISE UP

I prefer the FF14 version

The FF11 barely sounds exciting enough to be generic battle music.

Seriously though, if you're going to start a shit fling between FF11 and 14, try not picking the one field that FF14 crushes every single other MMO in.

>When Alexander stops time and you only hear "dub dub dub dub dub dub"

SONIC BOOM

>FFXI: Everquest clone with PS2 limitations
>FFXIV: WoW clone with PS3 limitations

>Hating on based Soken music

Holy shit what is this cancer. The music is half the reason people even bother with primals/raids. Of the things to bitch about the game the music is not one of them.

I can not fucking wait to see The Primals at fanfest

RISE UP YOUR GRAVY AND YOUR MEATBALLS

>FFXI
>Everquest clone
Stop regurgitating lines you've heard on Cred Forums when you've clearly played neither of them.

What went so right?

Posting underrated patch music

youtube.com/watch?v=aTGhDklTOL0

to be fair Cruise Chasers theme is a fucking garbage fire and sounds like it was made for a time traveling part of Alexanders fight

But WoW IS an EverQuest Clone, that should make FFXIV another EverQuest clone.

>Actually hating Exponential Entropy
hey fuck you leatherman

Which we got. Did you not get the significance of
A11's fight?

We saved ourselves from the earlier cutscene

WoW is a Dark Age of Camelot clone, it has very little do with Everquest, Unlike FFXI

are all XIV battle themes like that?
have not heard that much into the entire ost, but I heard the sephirot theme in another thread.

so far the battle themes are horrible

different styles for different gameplay

i wouldn't want to hear ff14's boss themes while playing 11, and i wouldn't want to hear 11's boss themes while playing 14

youtube.com/watch?v=knV-5VciTTQ

no just most of the primals. It's what happens when a Japanese man is trying to write songs in english about the bosses.

At least use the boss version of both alexanders. Alex Prime is bigger than XI's but not as big as the whole primal.

Alexander has exceptionally bad butt rock

Each boss has it's own kind of music.

Alexander has this techno thing on each boss but for example Shiva is on another league

youtube.com/watch?v=noJiH8HLZw4

And Bahamut was just PERFECT

youtube.com/watch?v=6gLEzpWyq6U

its my favorite too.
youtube.com/watch?v=lsV500W4BHU

I like these more.
Maybe I just dont like chanting singing too much for battle music though

Bahamut's wasn't written as a battle song. It was just the main theme of 1.0 which he smashed and burned, so they gave it to him to drive home that it was the end of the 1.0 story.

Answers is just straight up cheating

youtube.com/watch?v=nA29a5UoqAY

I wish Edda's fight matched how much I loved this music

They tend to put the chanting in fights that lore -wise or the "final" big bads like Thordan

youtube.com/watch?v=-pdqUzOH_Hg

Still my favorite.

I have brute justice on the MP4, I love it but the Dragonsong's theme of Nidhogg is just art.

...

>fighting the knights of the round
>that limit break
>screen shatter
>Thordan flips the fuck out that you lived and is terrified of you
That entire battle is 10/10, playing it at release with a full blind party was amazing. too bad he's a total curbstomp in normal mode now.

SAY MY NAME

Brute Justice holds a special yet separate place in my heart next to Moogle Mog of campy ass fun shit but stretches home the fact that I just couldn't take Alexander seriously as a raid until Creator.

youtube.com/watch?v=pCcbKY7d0dc

beat me to it. Brute Justice is easily my favorite XIV song

>2.0 Had Bahamut
>3.0 Has Alexander

What will be 4.0's? Sihn?

>a waltz is fedora tier now

Jesus Christ Cred Forums what does that even mean anymore

I like it, but playing a mmo with a gamepad sure seems to suck dick

To be fair, the pacing of FFXI was slow as fuck, so Ragnarok is a lot more fitting in this regard than Rise.

Kefka, after fucking around with the Warring Triad turns Hydrus into an aether hungry angel monster.

You can play it with keyboard + mouse. Still the game is very confy with ps4 pad.

>Edda Slain

worst feeling

These sound like poorly chosen songs overlayed for babby's first AMV. Sasuga XIV.

>I don't know what I'm talking about

Asides from just liking the chanting on its own, I like it extra because most of the songs are sung from the perspective of the Primals worshipers so they're "chanting" to power the boss up.

They're different games.

>Doing Ravana on release
>Spend literally 3 hours with the same group trying to down him once

Do you ever play your own music when you play video games?

I've done that since 2004 in all the mmos I have ever played.

youtube.com/watch?v=RYc5rh1idBA

In FFXI they liked ot use a mixture for their boss themes, because the game wasn't SPAMSPAMSPAM you needed music that flowed along with the encounter. Themes like Alexander and Promathia v2 have moments of calm that really gave you goosebumps mid fight.

The Alexander theme works far better for the Ragnarok Alex vs Odin cutscene.

Most delusional post I've read this week.

...

Has reddit or the OF figured out the lyrics yet?

Yeah I know that name of a place.

>It's what happens when a Japanese man is trying to write songs in english about the bosses.
Lyrics for every song are written by Michael Christopher Koji-Fox, the English localization lead.

They never get the lyrics right. We'll probably end up waiting for the OST to release for the lyrics.

>353568061
I want fucking Gaius back.

Technically Alexander is larger in 11 if you count the entire structure, his original body makes up the entire ruins dungeons that you trek through and use for various endgame activities.

They get some parts I never could understand but usually they are off.

That doesn't make it any less faggotish.

Nigga don't be a salty faggot, if you experienced the game you would understand. No MMO has this closeness in a community nowadays.

Absolute cringe.

>A12 is actually fun even in normal mode

It feels so hectic, I actually don't hate having to run it for my drop.

I'm pretty new to FFXIV, got two jobs at 60 (WAR/DRG, with WAR being the most geared at like 185ish ilvl), how do I quickly gear up asap so I can fight the A12 fights, they look so fucking hype. I want to do them while they're still somewhat relevant.

>memearrows

That explains everything, back to ledit underage. I'll let you be.

>I'm pretty new to FFXIV
>got two jobs at 60

Pick one. If you haven't figured out how to gear up by now, just stop.

Look at this autistic, bright-colored, flashy nonsense.

How the hell do you play a game when 75% of the screen is HUD and the other 25% is bright flashing colors?

Pic related. This is an adult's game screen.

Doing your weekly Centurio hunts can give you i200 gear with the tokens from them. Do all your level 60 dungeons for new person bonuses and to unlock roulettes. The bonuses should be enough to gear you up for the latest stuff.

If you need to upgrade lore gear, do the Void Ark and Weeping City raids. Doing both will give you an upgrade item at no weekly lockout.

>back to ledit underage

Top fucking kek what's it like being 12?

Yeah? It took about a month of playing off and on. Getting WAR to 60 once I'd maxed out DRG took like a day. That's still very much new I'd say.

If you got really rich friends crafted gear. If not farm dungeons for lore/Midas for gear. Remember to cap Scripture every week

>No Ark Angels
>No Promathia
>No Alexander and Odin
>No Besieged
>No Lilith
how can FFXIV even compete

>mfw temporal displacement for the first time
>mfw the weather changes to BEYOND TIME

You've been playing a month and haven't figured out how to gear up? Do you not have google? Stop asking to be spoonfed.

Got to satisfy the autists somehow

you want to get lore tomes, get it from anywhere you can since those give you ilv 230, which are the min requirement you need for that fight.

Ask a friend to craft you some ilv 250 gear

This is a real man's boss theme

God I miss FFXI art.

You sound like you play dragoon

desu thats obviously someone on ps4 with a really shitty screen.

It's not hard to get a half competent UI going.

I don't even play either game anymore, but in the time I revisited FF XI it still felt way more enjoyable and "world-like" than FFXIV did ever.

The foundation of FFXI is just rock solid in terms of creating an enjoyable and comfy atmosphere whereas FFXIV will never evolve beyond its match-making hub surrounded by filler areas experience.

youtube.com/watch?v=b6Rzo_Rju_I

Guilty as charged

You'll never lose those rose colored glasses.

Maybe Odin will get upgraded to real boss inside of event and gimmicks.

>yfw the kiters/tanks dont know what they're doing and wipe and you the bard have to kite the hume around

We won though.

SO
NIC
BOOM

That's much better, but I still think the game is designed with too much going on in battles, as far as flashy, bright, obnoxious stuff filling up your screen.

I appreciate your HUD, that's better, but this game was too much for my taste. I prefer the older, cleaner, simpler HUDs of days gone by.

Tell me what FFXIV has added since 3.0 that significantly changed anything about the way the game is played

The content offerings are still all the same, they haven't built upon anything. They just clean the table and set it up again.

>Hating on Soken

Why even bother to respond to my comment? I'm obviously not interested in a real discussion because your view is already so clouded by nostalgia. It would be like the FF6 v FF7 debate, there's no winning.

Thordan EX should have been the final fight of the game

Much less shitters endgame

More like there's no winning because aside from enjoying a recycled theme park style there's no point to stand on in regards to the content offerings of XI against XIV

It's fine if you enjoy it just don't get assblasted when people point out that it is what it is

They're not wrong though.
The game has done nothing new since ARR, just repeat what they did with ARR.

>Plot afterwards implies strongly Alexander wanted you to destroy it as it knew it's existence was a blight to Eorzea/Hydaelyn

Eden

youtube.com/watch?v=2pJmaBv-1zk

He was judging you to ensure his predicted outcome was correct, and allowed you to save yourself in the A11 cutscene once he had decided things should be as he foresaw.

Alexander fighting you had two purposes:

1: To confirm its suspicions of you, as you were the sole gray area in all of it's calculations

2: To complete the time loop by allowing you to travel back in time and save yourself from the giant laser

Healer LB3 well timed is always the hypest shit.

To be honest, so far I haven't won a single A11 without having to use it...

VEWY HEAVY WOCK

you can disable most effects in battle, I remember having to do that a couple of times when a boss marks you but snce there were so many lights going on I couldnt see my own mark.

>its pointless, so here's a response anyway

people like you are a special kind of special. I think you're wrong agree with the other guy. FF14 was made as an MMO first and foremost. FF11 was made as an RPG and its world building bets out 14 by far. Not saying which is the better game but that aspect for sure is won by one and not the other.

>hub surrounded by filler areas experience
I love XI as much as you do but the atmosphere and world building are top notch mate

FFXIV hasn't done anything new since ARR, SE is too scared to fuck up that they rather recycle content again and again because people will eat up that shit.

What are PotD, Diadem and Aquapolis?

The prevalence of fast travel combined with the sheer lack of any risk from traveling in the "wilderness" broke any sense of atmosphere the outside areas could give me unfortunately.

After a certain point there's just no need to go anywhere unless you're on the Atma hunt or something. Moving around in areas felt more like a checklist of things to do than an actual exploration, I quit after clearing the first few Savage Alexander floors because I just didn't feel like the game was offering enough of a new experience at that point (Was already on the fence about quitting after clearing Final Coil but decided to stick around for 3.0)

The content recycling and constant design choice of replace Fight ABC with fight DEF which fulfill the same role but obsolete the mold stuff just got too boring for me.

In addition, get your gear to +30/+30 inside PotD and you'll have a free 235 weapon waiting for you at 60.

They are basically built on existing things already at least ptod changes up the grind meta shit while FAILDEM is literally pointless.

Auqapolis loses its luster after doing it a few times.

I just wonder what kind of theme they will pick up for Demon.

That doesn't meaninfully affect the game at all, that's like saying that Golden saucer made a meaningful impact on the game.

youtube.com/watch?v=bRwk610U9Cw
Still one of my favorites.

Fair enough, I usually just play 1 or 2 times a week to cap my tomes, I still enjoy the game in short bursts tho.

None of those are alternatives to raid content, the problem is that for 99% of content in FFXIV if you raid you basically look at it and say
>This content serves no purpose for me and thus is not worth doing

Black Metal

Maybe that's where the problem comes from. People look at content and think "What will allow me to get phat loot as fast as possible?" instead of just doing what they think is fun.

Eden

the problem is most shit actually isn't fun

like the relic quest is pretty definitively not fun to most people

Don't play the game if you don't find anything fun then and stop forcing yourself to clear content you don't enjoy just because there's a carrot at the end of the stick.

>instead of just doing what they think is fun.
You'd be surprised how many people consider the raids the best fun to be had in game. People want more of the things they enjoy. The 3 things mentioned are nothing more than a passsing distraction, regardless of the rewards for doing them. Better gear would incentivise doing those things but it doesn't make them fun/enjoyable.

Don't conflate raiding to gear whoring.

youtube.com/watch?v=wv2COCEygPM

this is pure adventure music

I like both, here the issue, and I believe most people will agree with me here.

the Alexander XI theme is great for what it is, and the speed on wich the game moves on goes well for the gameplay of XI.

XIV Alexander music feels like a song that would go for faster paced games like Devil May Cry, so it feels out of place, don't get me wrong, is catchy as hell, and sounds great, but it just don't mix well for what is going on in the screen, I get the mechanical theme, but the creator when off hand and forgot about the game environment completely while doing this, that why the music is not as great as it should be given the context of the game.

The issue there is that the pacing of the game varies wildly on what job you're playing. I main NIN so this specific song matches my tempo perfectly, though I can see it being awkward for some of the slower jobs.

that was the Character Creation theme on the Original XIV rip.

>using the nostalgia argument

That's when you know you've lost the debate.

YFW Summon Alexander

Agree, I suppose it doesn't fit that well for tanks, I main healer so I have to constantly check for who is going to get hit, who has the bleed debuff, etc .. so I embrace faster paced themes

>Thordan EX
>GOAT chanting and shit in the background while you try to survive 5 mechanics going off at once

I love this fight

We'll have to disagree then.

I know about people who enjoy raiding for itself and not for the loot, I'm one of them.

Not too long ago I decided to try and solo PotD as a DRK and around the 27th floor I accidentally aggroed a bunch of patrolling mobs. Not only that but other mobs started spawning out of fucking nowhere as if the situation wasn't already pretty drie. I had to use every fucking thing in my arsenal from pomanders to potions to defensive cooldowns and everything. I managed to survive against all odds and at that moment I felt I had more fun than in any other kind of content apart from raiding.

I asked myself why people don't try to solo this more? The panic when you walk on a mine, the excitement when you find a hidden chest, the dread when you see a mob 5 levels above you roaming the halls.

And then it dawned on me: Why the fuck would anyone try to solo PotD when they can group up and bumrush the entire dungeon to get their padjali weapon as fast as possible?

Maybe it's SE's fault for making PotD so piss easy when in a group with 3 other people but I feel that people are never willing to walk outside the path that leads you to shiny loot.

>Not linking the version with timestops.

youtube.com/watch?v=ZGuJ_u56GCQ

It's about rewarding game features, I can have fun not playing the game at all. That doesn't mean anything, what matters is what I can get out of an experience.

Community is sure as hell not present, the game usually has you farm daily tomes while doing the same dungeons every day with the occasional raid and then logging out. That's pretty much how XIV has functioned since ARR, everything else that isn't raids gets ignored even if you're on a big guild.

Hunts is probably the only memorable experience that I had with ARR while every single thing that I did before ARR I can remember with perfect detail. You see pic related? Started leveling out in the fields, became friends and formed a new guild and we broke up after defeating Nael when the game was about to shut down.

>being surprised about trash-rock in XIV
that's frankly the entire soundtrack, that's the appeal. XIV isn't XI 2.0

wait... is this a joke... because this is a blatant rip off of Rob Zombie's brother's song.

Doesn't matter where you were headed, people were friendly as fuck and wanted to talk and do things. We explored the shit out of this game before it closed and it was awesome.

>knowing the difference between a Fedora, Trilby, and a Waltz.

>not posting the first phase as well
youtube.com/watch?v=7YiBnxSIDhY

>tfw you play with the music off for most of the game, especially raids
>tfw you find most of the music to be forgettable
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I don't get the obsession with the game's music.

Or the story for that matter.

When I went into ARR the whole game changed, everyone that I knew (All 200+ friends) quit the game. Instead of unifying the community all that they did was segregate it.

In that case, what you're enjoying there is something you could get outside of the MMO genre. It's nice that you can get that out of it. To that, I'll pose a question: Will you continue to run that solo after receiving all the rewards you want from it?

Ok.

difference tastes for everyone,

>LSes calmly lining up for Ifrit instances
>Raising failed groups when their corpses appeared outside the gate
We'll never have community like that again.

>Be a SMN
>Can summon Ifrit, Titan and Garuda egi.
>For some unexplained reason we can't summon Shiva, Ramuh, Leviathan, Bahamut, Alexander, Ravana or Bismark egi.

9.0 Will save the SMN.

Sadly, we wont have this sort of thing again.

They did explain it. Ramuh is just too powerful for you to control. :^) Even though a Primal's strength isn't something innate and only controlled by the crystals used to summon them. And even though egis are built from whatever aether you can gather around you. And even though channeling Bahamut's aether through your body isn't too much to handle.

Your doing the lord's work user

To be fair, XIV Alexander was meant to be a mobile fortress, so no shit its smaller.

And it's a damn shame too considering that this was really exciting. I remember wanting to leave work to directly log into XIV. I didn't felt like that since XI.

>Will you continue to run that solo after receiving all the rewards you want from it?

For sure. At least not with the same job every time but since the game offers you different ways to play in the form of different jobs I definitely will try to clear it with each and every one fo them.

Maybe the problem just comes from the overall difficulty of the game. Unfortunately companies nowadays are afraid of making challenging games since they believe the biggest income comes from casual players.

>farm daily tomes while doing the same dungeons
Expert is the worst way to cap though, literally everything gives tomes and if you actually play the game you'll cap with doing 1 or 2 experts a week.

>whoever the fuck summons DOOM TRAIN
>the goal is to stop the fucking thing
>Cid air drops you on the ass end of it
>your goal is to make it from car to car in order to halt its progress
>each raid instance is a different set of cars until you get to the front and shut it down completely

The XIV ARR baby came back. Stay fucking delusional m8, maybe learn to parrot more clever insults than that, or what I expect, stuttering memetext.

XIV is far from perfect nor leading in anything. Decent MMO, but nothing that makes it stand apart.

Once you niggas experience a tight community, you will understand.

That probably changed now but it was like that then. It's still the same pointless activity though.

...

Nobody wants tight communities anymore. Nobody wants a community.

Communities are a thing of the past bro.

New to SCH
Eos or Selene?

you should be hired by yoshi

players calmly lining up for Nidhogg.

Even a noob was fighting along side us, I protected this nigga with my life to take him with us to the final countdown.

Eos since most of Selene's abilities don't do much. Before you get Leeches, though, you might want Selene out especially for that one Goblin Jungle dungeon.

Selene, always. if you so much as ever summon Eos you should kys yourself for being a bad player.

I'm coming back after not playing for the last 2.5 years.

I liked being a healslut. I hated my SCH clothes.

I had all T5 gear for both my WHM and SCH.

Who should I play now? I liked WHM better due to not having to babysit the most retarded Pet AI.

I'm not gonna lie some of the music in ffxiv is literal god tier but damn if the rest of the game doesn't just fucking suck.

Maybe I got spoiled by wow but the only thing ffxiv has going for it are the waifus and music.

Combat is total shit and clunky due to latency.

Characters have boring abilities and rotations.

Boss fights are neat but feature too much don't stand in the danger zone square circle whatever.

Outside of dungeons and raids there isn't much to do.

But I really hope they keep making content for it so I can at least get more music.

That's a barrier, everyone can't go past that line they aren't lining up because they want to.. the game is forcing them to stop at that point.

WHM still gets lewd gear
AST is overpowered so play that if you're not shit.
SCH is basically no different than before

In 1.0, the instance servers could only take limited groups at a time. So the server communities took turns. Lining up at the edge of the tiny instanced area pre-Nidhogg is not the same thing.

>Unfortunately companies nowadays are afraid of making challenging games since they believe the biggest income comes from casual players.
It's not that, it's that they'd prefer to bring in new players and make no efforts on retention. Instead of retention they try to milk any loyalty for as much as they can until they stop. Then they've got a new wave of people to bring through the squeeze, another wave after that etc.

It makes sense financially, it's just not sustainable. You run out of people to bring in eventually.

The game is dying around them and they're too busy patting themselves on the back to notice.

>Outside of dungeons and raids there isn't much to do.
This is the thing that gets me. I get called a raidfag for thinking this. Nothing else has the thought or time put into it like primals and raids. Everything else in the game outside of crafting feels incredibly half-baked.

And even then crafting is a fucking joke of a system that requires you to do fucking everything and blow millions of gil and a shitload of time to even be able to do anything.

Amen, that was one issue I had when 2.0 came out.

They needed 1.0 world but the rest of ARR's features.

I tried my best to give some life into ARR but it didn't last long. Hunts were fantastic, people hated it but its cause these are the same people that want to do everything solo.

>FFXI sustained 600k subs for 6-7 years at its peak
>FFXIV can barely maintain 250k
Sasuga Yoshi

>It's still the same
You can do PotD, auqa, hunts, raids, and dungeons for tomestones, all of which will cap you no problem. They are the same in that you are playing the same game but i think you have another problem if you expect a game to not be itself.

>spoiled by wow
I feel the exact opposite now that I'm playing WoW to have a break from FFXIV.
WoW's (PvE) combat is so shallow, simple and thoughtless compared to FFXIV that I can't stand it anymore

Huh? People love hunts because they're zero effort tomes and they get you other shit.

Hunts were just glorified zerg sessions. There was nothing to them and people don't even use hunt linkshells anymore because everyone has a tool to spot them.

weeping city has no lockout anymore?

I wish I was back at my personal PC so I could friend you all on steam or ingame.

As somehow who deeply loved XIV 1.15+, I miss it a lot.

Probably because WoW is more about reacting to the situation and the amount of shit going on in a fight vs how static and planned out XIV can get. Almost all the rotations are completely static, with slight adjustments made for fight timings.

Short CDs, GCDs, and procs in WoW mean you have a priority list in place that happens a lot faster than anything in XIV.

Basically two different styles of combat. I don't think one is inherently better than the other.

>>FFXIV Alexander's body fits in a tiny lake
Keep in mind that what you see in overworld maps is not a real representation of size and complexity. XIV Alexander is at least four times bigger.

But people would stay if PotD wasn't so easy. I'm sure you would see tons of PF groups for PotD and people talking about strats and tips for months.

Almost every patch they try to add something new but it falls flat on its face. Not because its bad mechanically (except for Diadem) but because it's just far too ephemeral because they're afraid casuals will never be able to experience that content.

Yeah, but even sized up the lake is still pretty small.

I play a male WHM and I'm a little upset that most of the 3.0 gear s just basically skirts, frills and skin showing dresses or literal dresses.
I'm seriously considering changing into a Au Ra or Cat and just play dress up with my character.
Why can't we get some manly healer gear, for example, Mobius has an excellent white mage set, when are we getting a collaboration event?

Is AST better than WHM?

Can I still get groups as WHM?

Add me on Steam at /id/databeats.

I would love to chat with former 1.0 players and reminisce about it.

I'm at work so I'm checking this thread sporadically.

It wasn't because of the reward, it was because of the experience. I had the biggest hunts LS in the server with 800 people. We all would set out and do hunts even when we had all that we needed just for fun and bonding. Everyone in the server knew me, they also waited for everyone to arrive before we killed even a B rank.

>They are the same in that you are playing the same game but i think you have another problem if you expect a game to not be itself.

Its great that you have alternatives now but that barely affects gameplay.

I know that feeling. Male elezen before I quit.

I will definitely switch to female or be a potato when I come back.

WHM is still better than AST, but Yoshi really wants people to play the gimped inbetweener so he keeps buffing them. They are a lot better than when they first came out, though, since their buff cards last twice as long now.

Daystar gear and Coil sets are all pretty manly.

AST is better than WHM right now but you will still find groups just fine as WHM.

>but that barely affects gameplay
So your problem is you don't like the core gameplay? You should just say that instead of making shit up.

>1.0 apologists

If you loved the game so much, you should have paid your sub and encouraged others to do so. You had your chance.

I wasn't making shit up, I was really clear on my posts that XIV went to shit when it became ARR.

The fuck are you talking about? They did. That's why ARR even fucking exists.

I know people will probably shit on me saying Ex primals are easy but the most fun i have in this game is learning the fights. It look me a week to get nidhogg down and now i can walk in and easily do it. Me and randoms have only gotten Sophia down to 32% but i had a blast doing it.

Also before 3.4 my free company was practically dead. When 3.4 dropped they logged in the morning of and i asked if they wanted to do content together and all of them said they had their own groups they were playing with. Should i just leave? Why would they been in a FC they never play with?

Daystar makes me look like a fat bastard, the coil 1 sets are good but I need to run some T5 to at least make some, I'm currently rocking the White Griffin set

The only gameplay related thing you said that you only do expert for tomes and that's the entire game. Everything else was muh community.

I have my legacy chocobo.
I paid my sub.

EX Primals are the closest thing to difficult content that is accessible by everyone in the game.

FCs are pointless if you have a static. You don't need anyone outside of your static in this game.

Statics are people you do content with, FCs are people you chat with and share a house with.

Yes, because retention isn't their focus. They just want to funnel as many people through as possible. It's not just PotD; it's Alex normal, Diadem, Hunts etc. There's no expectation of investment or build up..

It's not about casual or hardcore, it's about accessability to new players. If they felt they have to invest too much to get to content they're more likely to stop playing.

We'll never get difficult content, just a more difficult verson of content that curently exists.

that game was hot garbage, but it was fun at first.

I like my 1.0 tattoo, shows the way my character came to be here today

I haven't touched crafters or gatherers yet and need to make some gil.

I'm assuming one of the gatherers is the way to go for that since they're not quite as gear dependent? Is there any one that stands out in terms of making quick gil?

>it's an MMO built around having a tiny clique and never interacting with your server otherwise
cool stuff

I learn all of the coils just doing pugs, yes it was hard but fun as fuck, never really tried Alex savage learning because I didn't like it as much as coil,

>Warriors of Darkness could have been an Ark-Angels tier raid boss
>instead they're the ultimate jobbers

No, you level everything up at once, crafters and gatherers.

>I had the biggest hunts LS in the server with 800 people.
That'd be impressive, linkshells have a cap of 512

isn't a fiend the same thing as a demon? The warring triad is stupid

>tfw still no house plots.
>tfw still no friends

Demon's Japanese title means 'god with the fury of an oni'. So he's not actually demonic, he's just crazy powerful with a short temper.

miner and goldsmith are the way to go to make quick gil, but as it stands today, the glamour prisms were merged into 1 (no more glamour lv1, lv2, lv3, etc) so prices are pretty high and all crafters can make those.

No, I said that the game would be sumed up to tomestone grinding.

You forgot the part where FF14's Alexander also has another theme for the first phase which is more traditional and far better.

>Why would they been in a FC they never play with?
They're in the FC for the specific bonuses to being in one. They have their LSes for when they want to do anything.

>switch servers with 3 friends
>make free company for sweet chest and fun times
>sitting on 70m gil
>not a single house available for free company
>locked out of airship and free company crafting

quality

Blame shitty translations from the SNES era
it's kishin and majin in the jap
Kishin is more of a war god, while Majin is a more traditional demon
They should have called Demon Warlord or something instead

I'm sorry but I don't really get your point.
Are you talking about horizontal progression?

I made multiple LS's every LS was full

Well, I somewhat agree.
Still, I play Warrior tank in both games, and I find it much more demanding in FFXIV.

In WoW, other than reacting to mechanics during raid bosses, my top priority is pushing the "tanking buttons" (when main tanking), and that's where my resources go too. Situations where I need to save rage for anything else are extremely rare, and I don't contribute much on DPS checks. If someone fucks up, there's not much extra I can do, other than using my single CD.

In FFXIV, there are no tanking buttons. Only ways I can prepare for tank busters and other big damage is using skills with huge CDs, or then using up my rather slowly building stacks. If there's a fuckup with mechanics or healing, I might have to use these valuable things earlier, but still have enough up for the mechanical damage. Also, almost all of defensive options have offensive properties too, so if I gauge the fight is going well and healers are ready, I can choose to use them for damage, but that leaves me more open to further damage. Then there's defensive and offensive stances, and their use depends a lot on reading the situation too.
On the other hand, if the whole group does the fight absolutely perfectly, you can theoretically number crunch the optimal way to play, since there are very few random elements.

EX Primals are the only 'mid-core' content in the game
Easily beaten by the no-lifers but still a good challenge for the average player

If you don't care about anything but gear and are too shit for savage sure.

Most delusional post I've read this week.

I quit the game during T9, I had all clears before I left.

They aren't catering to casuals, they're catering to fresh players. There's a difference.

Like I said, it's not about hardcore/casual.

If I meant horizontal or vertical, I'd have specifically mentioned them.

>since there are very few random elements.
Exactly that, which is why many people prefer WoW.

In WoW, tanks are tanks, healers are healers, DPS are DPS.

In XIV, everyone is DPS with some non-DPS abilities. If you aren't DPSing, you're playing wrong. Some people don't like that either.

Static vs Chaotic.

You should have played a DPS in WoW most likely since nobody actually plays Warrior to be a tank.

I'd say crafting is also mid-core.
I understand that it isn't for everyone though, but I appreciate SE gave so much attention to it instead of just copying WoW

>you don't grind tomestones for savage progression
this fuckin guy

I'd say some version of Raghr or some important Imperial villain since next expansion is Ala Mhigo

But I just established that they constantly try to add new types of content to keep the old players in, it's just that it's not tuned well enough to be really interesting for them.

None has petted my character for days now, this is driving me insane.

>I'd say crafting is also mid-core.
I'd say that's a very strange thing to think. Mid-core only in the sense that you need to level absolutely everything and grind gil I guess.

It's a horrible system for newcomers.

They add content and then forget about it for the most part.

Let's not forget that Lord of Verminion and Golden Saucer fall under this "new content" meant to retain players. Didadem is a joke even with the latest addition.

PotD is the only good thing they have added and even then it's not very good.

Before you call bullshit on me, here's my thread.

forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/178718-Monster-Hunter-the-Official-Ragnarok-Hunts-Linkshell.

I love tanking, but focusing mostly on mitigating damage is too simple for me.
I also prefer FFXIV's complex rotations and several layers of different timers when it comes to playing DPS, but that's completely subjective

youtube.com/watch?v=hb0P9jHV8dQ
FORWARD
AND
BACK

Soloing the first 20 floors in PotD is pretty neat with the Accursed Hoard update.

>it's just that it's not tuned well enough to be really interesting for them.
Short term it's new shit for everyone to do, long term it's kept simple enough so that there's not too much investment to drive new players away from it.

Short term squeeze the loyal, long term have it accessible to the new wave of players.

>complex rotations
They're largely static though. You eventually map out a fight and do that every single time.

LS is ambiguous if you intended to convey the plural.

>Doing more DPS than everyone as WHM
>SMN makes a passive aggressive comment that I'm not healing enough
>The tank has not been anywhere close to dying
>They start to heal instead of DPS

I did a search on them after and it was a cat from Balmung. Can't make this shit up.

You do have to cap but the reason you're playing isn't to cap nor is the majority of your time spent capping for the sake of capping. Plus you stop needing to pretty fast depending on stats and how well your prog is going.

what a story

bad df stories are my favorite

Finally beat A12 normal. only took 14 tries and 4 duty finder groups.

seriously what is it with dps players not dodging mechanics and healers that decide that standing right in front of sacrament to res one of the dumbass dps players is a good idea.

Simple and challenging aren't mutually exclusive

It wasn't limited to only Monster Hunter, we had allied LS's because I hit the cap. We didn't wanted to let anyone outside the shell feel left out. We had connections with top guilds in Ragnarok and even made a pact to not screw anyone over because these guilds required the tomes in order to raid. Things such as server first were a big deal and my shell was the center of it.

after wiping dozens of times to final steps of faith, I've come to the conclusion that these players play on toasters with a controller and have the worst internet connection ever.

one time a WHM who couldn't dodge the fire told me that they couldn't see the fire because their laptop was so bad it couldn't display it.

>You eventually map out a fight and do that every single time
I actually really like figuring that out, especially with classes with a huge amount of variables like WAR or MCH.
Determining what's the most high priority skill for each situation in WoW is much simpler in the end, and there's not much variation to it between the fights (at least as a tank, I seriously lack DPS experience in WoW, so I honestly can't comment much on that)

>not using Eos to dps more or allow second healer to dps more
you can switch to AST if you aren't using Eos, you will end up giving more dps to your group that way

I remember someone having a pc so fucking bad, they had to go on teamspeak with someone because Weight of the Land in titan HM and EX wouldn't render. So they would have to get someone to call it out so they could move.

Nael is and always was a girl. It was the translation team fucking up in 1.0 using "he" when it was left purposely ambigious in the original.

Awfully defensive over this aren't you?
It was your ambiguity. I literally couldn't give a shit about the whole thing, just pointing out an impossibility.

The new wave have to both be able to do it and also not be a burden to party. I'm just saying it's wrong to look at it as casual/hardcore as you originally stated. The crux of the issue is how they focus their efforts on being inclusive to new players at the cost of retention, which is currently the largest issue the game is facing.

Why would I be defensive over it? I don't even understand what you're getting at. This is something that happened when I were around.

>not a single Kirito Uchiha tier name in cap
>meanwhile Monkey Dluffy in the background

>Time to grind blue scrips
>Wait until after the usual reset time
>Check what's being accepted
>Spend about an hour buying/gathering all the mats and then making 20 shields
>Go to hand them in
>No longer being accepted
>I didn't realize that daylight savings ticked over on the weekend here
>The reset time was an hour later than normal

>thinking your personal DPS is worth more than a DPS boost to the rest of the group

Eos is surplus to requirement outside of very specific instances and Fey WInd is a larger benefit overall than a few GCDs between both healers, which realistically would be their filler spells since they should be maintaining DoTs regardless.

Unprompted explanations. Like I said, 512 is the cap, you meant the plural in which case LS is ambiguous. That is all. Nobody gives a fuck beyond that.

Ok cool

Would YoshiP be able to control his innate desire to have a Sabin expy who jokes about suplexing it?

nah, they will just meme it out for the whole expansion

yeah i can see that happening

pic is me at dust vigil last boss when my computer was overheating for some reason. made for an interesting fight

You seem to think I was calling bullshit?
Only on the specific wording given. Holy fuck, give it a rest.

But there are a ton of people who are a burden to their party in EX trials and other types of hard content already simply because the game never put them in a situation where they have to use their abilities efficiently (i.e fun). The contentdoesn't need to be balls on the walls hard but enough so that you have to use more than three abilities to complete it.

Koji is the meme master on the XIV team.

...

That WHM/SCH coming back here again.

I am/was on Excalibur and Legacy.
Can I transfer?
Should I transfer? And where?

No offense taken, it's just that Cred Forums always seems to require physical evidence of everything so I provided that.

Are you from Ragnarok?

Excal is pretty good, the others would be Gilgamesh, Leviathan or .. ugh ... Balmung

Should I buy the 250 caster coat for 3 million if I'm a patch behind as BLM? I'm not in a static right now but I'm looking to get back in.

You forget the normal mode (8-man) trials used to be difficult (where Story was 4-man and Hard only denoted 8-man).

Now we only get difficulty in rehashed content and we will only receive it in that format.

They don't actually care how many people clear or attempt EX.

Wel I was wrong on the 512 limit, it's 128 as evidenced there. 512 must be the FC limit.
I've been unsubbed for months

Yeah

Considering your name, you'd be happy on Balmung. Or on Flist.

I should stay on Excalibur then?

No reason to transfer to Gilga or Leviathon?

If you want to get hardcoar, then you better start learning those EX and Savage fights right now, shit is a week old now and most people already know the basics. That also mean get as much iLv as you can as fast as possible, so I would say yes

>Jamming out on A11
>Go to A12
>Nothing but disappointment

SONIC BOOM
[Incoherent Yelling]

I've been on those and is pretty much the same, the only difference is in the people you know, maybe people from other servers can say more details about it but Excal is a pretty chill server,

Nah, just take it easy.

You don't have to. But if you really want it as glamour, then hell do what you want with your gil.

Are there any good MMORPGs anymore besides this or am I just going to have to pick up Final Fantasy XIV?

I'd keep hold of your gil for now. Buy it when/if you find a group. At the very least, it'll be cheaper.

>You forget the normal mode (8-man) trials used to be difficult (where Story was 4-man and Hard only denoted 8-man).
>Now we only get difficulty in rehashed content and we will only receive it in that format.
>They don't actually care how many people clear or attempt EX.

So my point that they're catering to casuals is true?

>Probably because WoW is more about reacting to the situation and the amount of shit going on in a fight vs how static and planned out XIV can get.

So you never did Thordan, Nidhogg, Sophia EX...right?

Sadly it's either XIV or WoW, if you want to play F2P you can check out Tree of Savior. TOS is like a retarded brother of Ragnarok Online but it's still fun.

Modern day MMOs are all about taking the WoW crown, and since WoW has gone to shit, this is probably your best option. I love this game

WoW and FFXIV are the only options.

The only other options require you to be okay with playing on private servers for old MMOs that have poor populations nowadays. Not many people are okay with that.

First time you hear the music after all the pain of getting there... That feeling oh man that was how long ago?

>He hasn't cleared a9s yet

Korean MMO #8945832

It's going to be good.

There's overlap but their focus isn't on casuals, it's on new players. It's a mistake to look at their actions as catering to casuals.

This is the first legit need for a /thread response.
First response, best response.

>finally meet the requirements for 4 star crafting
>along with being able to gather almost all of the 4 star mats

Probably gonna switch off GSM spec for ALC spec as soon as I get my BLM staff made. Playing in the big leagues now.

Pretend this is a Tree of Savior edit.

>this guy

I bet you think that 90% of WoW devs weren't former EQ players too.

go back to your dead game gramps

I think you mean Chinese MMO #588742

what happens if 4 dps dont go back in time to save themselves in the Time Travel mechanic? Instawipe?

You mean former WoW devs.

>really want the savage Dragoon gear
>but I'll have to do savage to get it

Revelation's is going to be so good.

I did it as a joke. I don't ERP or look to be a "heal slut".

I just enjoy healing.

Did Thordan and savage. Still a lot less random in XIV compared to WoW. That's not really up for debate.

Alexander Prime kills you in the past

He said IX, not XI.

Literally what I hear

>who are tigole and furor

Is FSH unenjoyable to level if my controller doesn't have vibrate?

I'd like to see Eden or Ark as the 4.0 raid final boss

I didn't choose my words wisely. By casuals I meant retards because even casuals have the abilities to enjoy a challenging game.
I don't think they're catering to new players by making everything super easy. If anything it feels like the opposite.
Imagine a new player getting into the game, doing the long as fuck questline for Titan and then queue for it and completely wreck him in a matter of seconds. I don't think he would feel like he accomplished anything.

Why do you think Dark Souls is so popular?

Ark is the boss of A11.

Ark is already in the current raid

Garuda normal still kicks people's asses

Can't believe what a step back Alexander was compared to Coil.

>FF11 Alexander theme
>that WHM PTSD kicking in

I can't hit these macros fast enough oh sweet fuck tank you stupid god damn fuck fuck fuck noooo~!

You prefer numetal with buzzing phone sound + distortion?

Yeah but with no DBM telling you when and where to move.

I want to resub but last time I played was a month after HW came out and before 3.1. How do I catch up?

Brute Justice's sounds like an 80's tokusatsu show
I love it [/Spoiler]

There's no more difficult content that is unique. In the grand scheme of things anything difficult can be skipped since the rewards will be redundant gear.

It's specifically done so new players can ignore it and keep chugging along on their merry way to the end.

People looking for challenge are able to go back and do them but they're not expected to do so.

Creating a more difficult version of something doesn't take a great deal of time and is low investment from the devs while the majority of the efforts go to creating simple content everyone/anyone can enjoy/experience.

just do story missions, they give you some damn good gear on each quest, then just keep going, it pretty easy

RIDDLY SMIDDLEY DIDDLY DOO SONIC BOOM
[MINUTES OF SCRIBBLE NOISES] [UNINTELLIGIBLE GARBAGE] RISE WITH ME RISE WITH ME RISE WITH ME RISE UP RISE WITH ME

>[MINUTES OF SCRIBBLE NOISES] [UNINTELLIGIBLE GARBAGE]
literally the best part, it's like listening to jap tracks, except this time, japs are even more clueless than us

Funny you say this. I discussed that topic with friends and we came up to that conclusion after asking our Free Company's members. Everyone pissing themselves over excitement or even "crying" of excitement/happiness to hear such "high quality" content. Made me doubt the sanity of the player base, but at times I forget over 60% of the playerbase is nothing but ERPers and/or bots.

REVIATHAN REVIATHAN

I get that the songs are no musical masterpieces, but are catchy and fun

Nah, you can still do it visually. Vibrate is only really good for AFK leveling.

I'd recommend it for that because you can do other shit without needing to look at the monitor as long as your controller is within reach.

Do ACT triggers no longer exist?

>running back and forth from fate to fate for pets and vanity weapons
Nice content you guys got here

>while the majority of the efforts go to creating simple content everyone/anyone can enjoy/experience.

But that's contradictory since most things the devs add end up being a failure simply because it's far too easy and people just clear it once a day after it's out and never bother with it again.

>Top statics using a thirty party program that breaks TOS to beat shit
rly makes u think

>Tfw the Hemicyon leather price is dropping at a sonic fast pace because of an undercut cunt and some butthurt retards

Wake me up inside.

Yes, so new players can just keep chugging along with little in the way of roadblocks.

I get the impression you're looking at patch cycles as they arrive and not considering the position this content will be in a few years down the line.

It's all shallow bullshit that's easy to digest, makes the game seem more expansive.

The only retention in place is making newer content a grind to begin with.

tfw no one to level FSH with
Concept always seemed so comfy.

KNOW MY PAIN FUCKER
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE TO FIGHT
KILL MEEEEEE

Doesn't it? Like XIV players wouldn't use the same tools if they were available to them. XIV has ACT triggers and damn near every static I know of uses them.

You guys said that about bdo and bns too.

Gooks can't into subtlety at all and everything they make looks like tasteless overdesigned hot garbage.

But how the fuck is challenging content a roadblock?
If it was boring shit you had to grind for I'd understand but by making interesting content like PotD harder they'd extend the game's durability and effectively make players eager to run the content again.

>Trying to get Gaius Didnothingwrong card

Are you Excalibur?
I'm going to resubmit tomorrow.

I've never played an mmo with a market that has undercutting as bad as this game, shit drops half price in less than a day.

I love XIV.

Far from the worst card to get. Idle Imperial is basically impossible to lose against and he's available all the time. The NPC that gives the Crystal Tower cards has some of the lowest drop rates in the game and is only available for 12 minutes out of every hour.

Nope, I'm over here on Balmung unfortunately. Sorry. Woulda been nice to buddy up with a fellow 1.0 player.

WAKE UP

...

PotD is currently supplemented by grind while it's going to get more difficult as you go up in floors.

Later in the game's life it's going to be something new players avoid due to the quantity you have to go through. I'd expect lower floors to actually get nerfed due to that.

Being side content much like Aquapolis/Verminion/GS etc it's not actually aimed at anything but being a time filler to milk subs. Hence the grind, which has been nerfed once so far already.

I think it's because money on itself isn't that useful in the game, so undercuter doesn't really feel the need to keep a steady price for things and cut as much as they want to sell quickly rather than making a profit overtime.

What's this about that they reduced new jobs in the expansion to two? Someone said it in the previous ffxiv thread

Don't look at how much you get undercut, look at how much/how many people are willing to pay for it and how much it costs you to make.
# of sales >>>>>>>>>>>> profit margin per item

You should also see how low people are willing to go down to. From that you can guess their costs to make it and just beat that.

We only have confirmation of two

Yeah first thing I did in a11s was look up the log entries for the Optic whatevers so I didn't have to look at the boss animation. Same with stuff like Chakrams spawning on Brute Justice, etc.

Samurai and red mage?

We don't have CONFIRMATION for any. We have highly educated guesses on two.

Alisaie is teasing RDM this patch with her aetherial blade shit and "you shouldnt focus on one area of magic" shit right?

But PotD is grindy BECAUSE it's easy.
Right now PotD is just grinding for silver chests to get the padjali weapons.
If PotD was actually about trying to survive each floor to get to the final one it would be a lot more enjoyable end people would gladly run it again no matter how much you have to go through.
It's the same for any other kind of content.
People would be happy running expert roulette if the dungeons were actually challenging.

Where you there when Mhach came out? Because people praised SE for it even though they just made it significantly harder than Void Ark.

holy shit this can't be real

I get why we're expecting RDM but why're we expecting SAM?

Also I hope it doesn't happen because I want SAM to be a DPS class but they're not adding two melee DPS to the expansion, so if those two are what we're getting we'll have to get SAM tank.

>Right now PotD is just grinding for silver chests to get the padjali weapons.

Correction, PotD right now is just farming 1-20 for hoard chests

>People would be happy running expert roulette if the dungeons were actually challenging.
You have absolutely no clue about the typical MMO player.

GIVE ME THE HAIRSTYLE DAMMIT
I'VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR DAYS
FUCK

Well

Nero appeared at the end in carteneau; aka where Omega is sealed

So that will probably be one of the next raids since Nero loves to give us raids

I'm pretty sure YoshiP confirmed SAM for 4.0 as a DPS a while ago

Caster tank incoming

>people need ACT voice callouts to beat content
lmao

>But PotD is grindy BECAUSE it's easy.
>Right now PotD is just grinding for silver chests to get the padjali weapons.
And later they'll either nerf the grind so people can progress through even easier or nerf the difficulty so they can keep people chest grinding.

>If PotD was actually about trying to survive each floor to get to the final one it would be a lot more enjoyable end people would gladly run it again no matter how much you have to go through.
>It's the same for any other kind of content.
And like every other content it functions as a higher tier of something new players won't be expected to do, or if they do it's for the sake of doing it and not the rewards involved for doing so.

>Where you there when Mhach came out? Because people praised SE for it even though they just made it significantly harder than Void Ark.
People praised it for having mechanics instead of JUST being being mindless faceroll like everything since LotA.

>ran Praetorium
>get it on first try

Because SAM was being designed already for Heavensward before they decided they wanted DRK instead.

SAM and RDM were hinted at during last year's Rising event, but in no way confirmed.

Would be cool if it could do both, with RDM bing able to dps or heal. There's no way that would happen r-right?

>Sell black dyes for decent amounts post patch.
>Can get 16k for 2 pots.
>Some faggotron puts 20 up for 1k a piece.
What the fuck is wrong with you, put them up for 7999 so you can earn some money too. Don't be retarded.

Heal in the same sense that PLD can heal.

With how much love AST is getting in every patch and how much of a pain it's been for them to get it just right, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't give us a healer in 4.0.

I'm half expecting them to remove SCH from the ACN line and make it a crystal only job like the HW classes.

>get the hairstyle first day
>pop it even though I don't really care all that much because hey more options right
>see PFs of people selling it for millions later

Well fuck

It's untradeable.

>And like every other content it functions as a higher tier of something new players won't be expected to do

What do you mean by that? New players are expected to try every kind of content available. If it's challenging enough that it's fun and the rewards at the end ar worthwhile they'll play it and the content will last longer than just running it once or twice for the weapon.

What hairstyle

No, it's market prohibited. It's still tradeable and going for millions.

Yoshi called out you FFXI players, he basically called you NEETs.

Why does everyone always forget about the best Alexander theme, I still can't believe they blew their load so early, all the Alexander music was downhill from here

youtube.com/watch?v=3cKy5Qk0QMM

>Want to clear thordan ex
>it's in the raid finder
>the only option I have is to match with 7 other people who haven't cleared
>wait time more than 30 min

Raid finder is so much garbage

The higher floors serve as the higher tiers. Don't forget this is intended to go to 200.

New players will be expected to stop fairly early and move on or come back to it later when they've exhausted progress elsewhere, if at all.

>did the exact same thing
>don't even like the hair

FUCK

>not brute justice

how does having shit taste feel like?

Make a PF on Tuesday, people will flock to suck your dick for that wondrous tales bonus.

I hope they move in the opposite direction and give us more split jobs down the line. MRD feels like it'd have an easy time turning into a DPS kit, and LNC could probably be a tank with very simple early level adjustments before job skills.

>Yoshi making an mmo for himself
kek

Not to mention there is a literal city inside of Alexander XIV. The space within him may not even work the same way

No wonder they stop early if it's a boring grind at first and only becomes challenging after x floors.

Just make dungeon the same difficulty at every floor but make it so that every 10 floors there are different traps and enemies. It's not complicated.

Well yeah, he's a tardis

I'd love a tank spec for LNC but they've gone on record as saying they'll never do another split job again

SMN/SCH was too much of a pain in the ass for them.

How the fuck can I tell when first demiyogurt's shields are up in S°EX?

I always did find it strange that in A1 and A2 you went inside Alex arms but the hallways in there were fucking massive, especially the A1 boss area

It was definitely not that big from the outside, there's someone going on there

Look for him to cast it, or look at his buff bar. Are you stupid?

Looked the entire time, never seen an icon or specific cast, /xivg/.

His buffs? Did you even try?

ffxifags btfo

What bullshit sidestory with they use for the 4.0 raid? It can't be related to Mhigo or the Garleans because that's all reserved for main story content.

Look again, you dumb faggot. It looks like an arrow bouncing off of a barrier. It's bright blue and green.

SE knows their demographic when it comes to WHM

You cant be this stupid

It's exactly like ravana

There's a ravana-like graphic on cast, and he has a buff under his healthbar when its active.

In other words they couldn't think of abilities that would fit them and be balanced

Yeah, Yoshi's word on it is that balancing new summons is too hard.

Do you have it set to only show your dots and debuffs on enemies?

They could keep Omega out of the MSQ and use it for the raid.

Nero and Omega Weapon with added Allagans

It was already teased at end of 3.4

OMEGA WEAPON
WE GO INSIDE IT
AT THE END WE FIGHT OMEGA PRIME TO DEACTIVATE IT !!!!!!!!

SE should hire me.

W H E N S
RDM

>either dress ultra slutty or ultra feminine
>use """""pure""""" white title
>probably dont like to dps either
WHM players are basic af compared to the people I see playing the other two healers.

I remember once he said something along the lines of giving SMN more abilities through different egis would be unfair on the rest of the classes. That's why they headed down the egi glamour route instead.

One of my favourite songs from FFXI.
I have this ache in my heart every time FFXI comes up, I want to go back.

You'd think it'd be easier making split jobs than making new ones. I think I've heard the same you have, and they act like SMN/SCH was a mistake but I honestly think they work better than most classes in this game.

LNC needs adjustments more than any other class in the first place for how awful their gameplay experience is. Losing skills as you level for 20 levels of Impulse Drive spam is ridiculous. Feint should be dropped, Vorpal Thrust to 2. Impulse Drive moved forward or merged into Heavy Thrust for combos. Impulse Drive to 8, Ring of Thorns to 12 with reduced potency and traited higher later. Maybe low threat generation on Ring of Thorns so that you don't rip aggro off of tanks leveling, but being scaled down as a tank job will let you hold it over DPS.

At which point they only need to design post 30 job skills and give it Gladiator to make a full tank class. God knows what Keen Flurry is even supposed to do on the DRG kit.

I just checked. Yes, it was set that way. I guess from something earlier this year.

Thanks for actually being helpful, unlike the others.

The biggest problem with SCH/SMN at the time was they only had 5 skills to differentiate the two jobs. Any changes to the base ACN toolkit would buff both classes when it was just SMN that was weaker. With all the new class skills HW added the that problem became easier.

I'm just waiting for them to drop the entire cross class system. It's caused nothing but headaches to both the devs and the playerbase as a whole. Depending on how they do that they could leave themselves the option to add split classes at a later date.

>3.4
>STILL have to yell at people to switch off boss to kill adds

Like, jesus fucking christ

HOW RETARDED ARE YOU

The pet ai is shit and garuda is a cunt when you press contagion. Dreadwyrm trance more than makes up for no new egis.

Just give me a glamour to get rid of that ugly thing

Tanks pls queue for A12N on chaos kthxbye.

Was 1.0 similar to FFXI?
I regret never getting a chance to play it.

In some ways, sure. It's hard to explain, it was just an incredibly unique experience.

It was fucking bad, dont let people meme you

[ Time travel-based mechanics intensify ]

>Sephirot had that song that sounded like Powerman 5000
>They didn't make some MC Hammer sounding song play after the first time stop

It was a poorly optimized, nearly unplayable mess of a "game." I got it on sale a few months after release, and I completely regret my purchase.

Did a9s on chaos on Thursday/Friday. Can't remember which day. Had already cleared on patch day but no drop. The dps was so low. I think we were hitting the 11 min mark.

Farm it Tuesdays on chaos. Closer to the next reset the worse it gets

It killed my first graphics card it was so poorly optimised

>game cuts off debuffs after a certain amount
>changing to only show your debuffs doesn't fix this
cool game

Yes it does, it only shows your debuffs/DoTs and the enemy's buffs.

Nevermind I'm fucking retarded, you're right.

Yeah it sucks. There's a hard cap on them.

If I was actually good at Summoner I would know the debuff times by feeling by now.

I think it could have been something interesting had the server lag issues and optimization been leagues better
It had a lot of the base gameplay correct. It felt like an MMO and had a real unique charm to it.
My issue with it was the server. It took literal seconds for an ability to activate after i pressed a button. This wasn't just an isolated incident, or my internet; regardless of when or where I logged into the game I could expect the lag. Anywhere from 1 to 3 seconds of straight UI lag. It made the game incredibly hard to play, and I outright quit before the servers went down.
