DA:I can be hit or miss. Some people enjoy doing MMORPGy things in singleplayer game for whatever reasons, they'll probably be fine with its gameplay.
Other than that, the story is retarded (and you need DLC to get a conclusion to the whole thing), characters are a bunch of issues-ridden faggots, and cutscenes are hilariously bad.
If you're going to put yourself through it, do not do "collectable" quests. It's tedious as all fuck and your only reward is +xx fire resistance which is laughable.

Andromeda takes place in a whole different part of the ME Universe. None of the old cast will appear. And I'm grateful for that. I wouldn't want EDI to get the same treatment that Cortana got in Halo 5.

the reason there is practically no difference is because those differences are expensive and time consuming. to make a truly satisfying experience for player-aliens, they would basically have to create entirely different dialogue through the whole game for each playable alien race. that's an insane resource drain. the other two options are an unsatisfying player-alien experience that is basically just a palette-swapped human, or just ditching the whole thing altogether and not giving any playable alien options. the latter was the right choice and a sign that the company is hopefully getting more realistic and intelligent about resource allocation

The lore is that there was a group ready to go if the crucible failed, and they were waiting at some old Galaxy jumper thing to save the species in case the reapers won. When Shepard went missing they were given the go ahead to go through, and that's why your exploring
