0.01% drop chance

>0.01% drop chance

why do people do this?

>0.01% drop chance
>bots infest the areas the drop is in to guarantee you will never get one yourself

Trying to get Skeleton Soldier cards in early RO was maddening.

I think it's just the game developers way of saying fuck you

>I just bought monster hunter 4 2 weeks ago

percentages don't matter because the devs never disclose formulas

they would tell you in a patch that they increased dorp rates by 9000% but in reality the forums ends up as 0.009% for all you know.

lmao you're acting like 0.01% is a bad drop rate?

>devs never disclose formulas

Wat

0.01% is 1 out of 10000, that's the formula

>1 out of 10000, on boss drop

>not bad

ok

FUCKING phantasy star....

One day ill get my eternal psycho drive

>you can increase the drop rate by making the fights harder

I wish every JRPG would copy this from TWEWY.

>0.01% drop chance
First try.

...

They want you to grind the whole time
This
I miss the old AO days

do you know what drops level 105 armor garment?

>tfw 28
>never got Sword of Kings

Kill me

Little Piggies on Candyland
Better obtain a 100 garment armor via lvl 100 armor box with 1 silver coin, or check the forum

currently leeching exp to my mage while farming them, these fuckers dont want to give me

Then Violet Robots on Airship Station, or Godly Ted (boss) on Winding Corridor
They are agressive, so it might be harder for you, and other maps are way stronger

also what the hell is this bug i tried to look at the new expansion and it fucked my client

game?

Crashing at opening?
Check forum for help, they might have the solution

>late game consist of doing dungeons with expensive entry fees
>the dungeons have an abysmal drop rate of epic items
>on top of that, most items are class specific or useless on classes its not intended on
>none of the items can be traded and transferred to alts
>biggest power spike in the game comes from finishing a set of epics for bonus effects
DFO was a mistake

>mmorpg tier drop rates from both monsters, bosses and chests
>in a single player game
>in an action rpg
I wanted to like Dragon's Dogma but Jesus.

I'm still mad about dark souls 2

Earthbound, underage faggot.

Because sometimes they don't just want an item to be rare in your game, they want items to be rare across all games so only .01% of players get them

It's not that bad.

They know that you will abandon all other priorities in your life just so you can get that drop.

user...
Earthbound was released 27 years ago.

>Gacha Draw Rate Up!!!
>0.05%

>Enemies have rare drops
>Enemies stop respawning

Seriously, who the fuck let that get the OK?

My heart skipped a beat

>0.01% drop chance
>Single player game with no possibility of multiplayer

For what purpose?

>Enemies have rare drops
>Enemies don't even fucking spawn until New Game Plus
>As an Invader
>That doesn't respawn

>you grind for the item for weeks with no luck
>that guy you know gets 2 in 1 day

>"You're just unlucky. I got it on my first try :^)"

Get over it baby. You're guaranteed a drop every 1000 kill

This
fucking this

i dont usually wish harm unto other people but this gets to me

you know, because people love gambling

Works fine for me.

This

this is what you get for "knowing" people

BECAUSE SKINNER BOXES ARE PROFITABLE BECAUSE YOU'RE ALL SHEEEEEEEEP

You missed a decimal user, it's 1in 10,000.

son of a bitch. My first one is gonna be that shitty cc ring at the end of the expansion

Warframe has a .025% drop chance on the Rift Sigil right now. And like an idiot I ran that 20min event 4 times.

That's not how probabilities work you fucking mong

One day i will wield the heven's punisher

Don't do this to me

>They didn't even need the item either

GIRL HAND! GIRL HAND!

>item drops off first mob you kill
>sell it thinking that it's a relatively common drop

>had one drop from the very first Starman Super I ever fought
>never ever ever saw one ever again

Never had Casey's Bat drop either.

>in mob fighting Golden Thief Bug in early iRO
>drop Poring card from inventory when the boss dies and watch everybody scramble to get it.

Actually guaranteed every 100 kills, hence 100%

>tell friend how rare some OP weapon you want
is and that you've grinded a month and still don't have one
>he gets one on his first try
>he calls said overpowered weapon shit, says it feels wrong and sticks to using his shit tier weapon

It hurts me every time

>Cousin has been trying to get all the rare drops in PSO ever since it came out
>Still playing it on and off trying to get shit to this day
Last time I asked he only had a few to go, he was farming those Dark Wizards in the Ruins for whatever they drop.

>try to avoid this by not selling shit unless I get dupes
>Get two rare materials back to back, convincing me it's a commonish drop from the mob
>Vendor trash'em for silver
>Discover two weeks later it's a 2% chance drop and other players would give their left nut for one

as an inside joke among the devs

I want the one that turns a hunter's bursting shot into a mini nuke

>trying to get anything in PSO with your section ID being Yellowboze

Tying your character's name to your ID then tying that ID to your rare drop chance rates was stupid.

Always look up materials before selling, always

>Item drops after hours
>Clips into a terrain object and is unobtainable

>item has randomized stats
>has horrible stats making it worse than stuff you already have

>1/128 droprate on an item
>Spend five real time hours farming for it on an emulator running at like 800% speed
>Character who can use it still isn't very useful even once you get it

>mfw got choco card on the first one I killed

...

>Item drops tied to level
>Only time you find an ultra-rare item is when you're so low that it's useless within the hour

>not a deviljho

Sometimes it's not that simple.
Like, the base chance is 1 / 10,000, but for each time you kill the boss, maybe your chances improve up to a point, like 1 / 5,000.
So it would be something like:
Chance = 1 / (10,000 - x) where the denominator is >= 5,000.
But devs that actually hard-code in percentages are fucking sadists.

Because getting someone to do something 10000 times for a mathematically likely event, but still not getting it gives me a chubby.

Jesus Christ the horror
>trying to find some shinies in 3rd Gen Pokemon
>emulator at sanic fast speed
>accidentally kill the faggot when it finally appears because too fast

Obviously. The best way to get items is to not want them. You have to do a 1984 sort of double think to want and not want the item and you'll get it right away.

>the more legendaries you have, the more likely they will drop for you

On the plus side, I was hilariously overleveled for the entire rest of the game after that. Ness was one-shotting everything.

>just don't think about it bro
>works for me

I generally roll in rare materials in monhun using this technique. If it doesn't work for you then you didn't not want it badly enough.

Still. That completionism autism haunts me since I was a kid.

Even if its useless, I gotta have it.

>tfw trying to get one of every card in RO
At one point I gave up and started jewing money for months so I could just buy everything

>people who run outdated content every week for "rare" mounts that are no longer challenging to get

You're not one of them right user?

>Carrying newbie friend through low level areas so we can power level him at a future area
>Beat the boss
>His unique loot drops
>It playerbinds and I win the loot roll despite very obviously not needing it
>It's for his class and not mine just to add insult to injury

Whats the alternative? Dailies? PUGs (carrying baddies) all day?

Nah. Besides, Stratholme is comfy

It wasn't even completionism, I just wanted to get Poo the one weapon that doesn't fucking lower his stats.

Normally I don't worry about that shit too much.

Wait, it's 0.025% chance? Fuck. I ran that mission like five times over the weekend in hopes of getting it. I like the game but 0.025% drop chance on an item is pure bullshit.

>tfw content with my Black Proto Drake and Swift Horde Wolf/Alliance Steed

it's lower than 0.01%. they just say it's 0.01%.

>Playing Maplestory when it first came out
>My character is a Mage
>Find a Pan Lid randomly, one of the only shields Mages could equip at the time
>People constantly whispering me offering me obscene amounts of money for it because apparently it was rare as fuck

>what a very rare drop rate should mean

The item is rarely seen in game. Only a few have it. It makes it something special. People should be blessed to merely gaze upon it and it should drive all players to know they have a chance to get something so special.

>what it actually means

HURR DURR ME AND MY BROS ARE GONNA SPEND ALL WEEKEND FIGHTING THIS ASSHOLE OVER AND OVER AGAIN SO WE CAN GET THIS STUPID ASS ITEM THAT WE ARE GOING TO DITCH IN A WEEK ANYWAYS

I hate to say it, but datamining's the problem
if people didnt know the item existed then it wouldnt be a problem

And wikis in general. MMOs pre wikis were like a different genre entirely.

See, that makes sense except when the ultra rare drops are far and above the best shit in the game

See: any number of PSO's sub .1% drops.
For most of them, they were objectively the best of their type of equipment in the game.

So it's becomes less "man, my life would be easier if I had that. Oh well, lets keep playing" and more "If I want to do any of the serious content I need that shit."

The only MMO I've played where rare drops were basically bragging rights and trophies was fucking GunZ.

Psycho Wand*

I've been looking for Sealed J-Sword for 7500 hours now. It has dropped in one of my games ONCE. Someone else got it.

>You get a rare drop
>Is a drop even more rare than the one you were looking for
>Its actually useless and it is worth nothing

Monster hunter never gets that much lower than like 4 percent, though, which isn't that low considering that 4% is done in triplicate or quadrupicate if you break the part.

The desire sensor can be cruel.

It's not enough to have the rare drop, you need all of the optimal parts as well.

Maybe if I use reverse psychology, the game will cut me a break

>mfw

what's DVC stand for? looks cute I'd like to read it

Sauce on the image

>runescape champion's challenge
>challenge scroll is .02% chance to drop
>need 13 of them to get the completionists cape

source?
All my searches give me nothing

devils candy

>got 2 doppelganger cards on my assassin cross

No, its eternal psycho drive

These threads are gonna be fun when FFXII remake comes around.

You can't outsmart the desire sensor. It shapes the universe.

Doppelganger lost value when it was changed to weird hard percentage increase instead of a flat 50 to ASPD

>not pictured is GTB Thorny and Detale Valk armor

>the chest is invisible

0.01% chance to unbox and I got this on my first try

just shut it down OP

Legitimately, I've lost so much loot in the Borderlands games to bad map bounds.
>The fucking main town in 2, Sanctuary, the floor in the very center in front of the Golden Chest lets shit just completely fall through it, there's no loot bound at all

Conviction and determination are skills.

>Ass Owl(blue)
>Faggot grade vibrator: factory new
>unusual effect: cum drizzle

What the fuck happened to TF2

I remember people figuring out how to (comparatively) easily get this weapon though

That's why when you get the drop you say fuck it and mod a perfect parts DPUH.
It's not even all that great by comparison, but at least they upped every legendary drop rate to like 3% or something.

>0.01% drop chance
>in a single player game
Complete and utter bullshit

He has a robo hand now

This little shit took 3 fucking days of soft resetting in the pond on top of Valak mountain. Then after turning it in for a mission, I realized that I would have to do it AGAIN for the collectopedia. Fucking garbage

>cheat engine it in
>get banned

The actual weapon was invisible too so they didn't have to make a model or concept art for it.

I know that feel bro.

>Path of Exile

Like tales games?

Wait, wasn't it 0.015?

at least i got my ashes of al'ar in 1 try. one day invincible ill get you

I wish more games let you decrease your level for better drops

'Tales of' games been doing this for a while brah

But you don't make the fights harder in TWEWY, you just make yourself weaker

>Rare drop on boss that's already hard to find
Fuck you Plantera, and fuck The Axe

>Dragon's Dogma
>wiki says Crimson Armor has 2% drop chance from chests
>get all 4 pieces in a single play through

>not scumming with the god-slaying seppuku knife

Its like you want to be retarded

It was 100% if you did phoenix escalation

But honestly i can see why the vast majority of players werent able to complete/do the event
