Can't wear the uniform of the faction you are working for otherwise you gain no reputation

>can't wear the uniform of the faction you are working for otherwise you gain no reputation

What kind of shit game design is this? Isn't this supposed to be a role playing game?

New Vegas was shit. Don't tell Cred Forums though, they'll lose their minds.

>Wearing faction armor will not trigger hit teams
It's kind of a double-edged sword.

Has this ever been a problem? I have over 400 hours in the game and have never once had an issue with hit teams.

Well think about it

If you're wearing their kit while helping out, they think you're one of their own, just doing what you're supposed to do

You help out in your own kit, you're basically volunteering, they know you aren't on the proverbial payroll so your actions are more meaningful

Well, hit teams are a pretty good source of money later in the game.

I wish this worked in real life.

This makes sense. I like this.

Never had issues with caps either.
I realize I sound like an argumentative faggot and I'm not trying to be. Just trying to find some advantages that I may benefit from.

You really won't need caps unless you have GRA and want to collect the new weapons

A outstanding one.

How are your enemys supose to know for who you work?

Magical tes f3/4 mentalmagic?

Tes/ f3/4
>Uh look that dude there wörks for the enemy faction lets kill him.
> magicly gaining points for faction and every one knows with who your allied and whos your enemy.

FNV
No uniform
> hello there/get lost/ gib loot
With uniform
>hi frend, need help/ have quest
>get points for spreding factions power influance
>enemy faction knows your then enemy because you wear there colors

Simpel and briliant
Now get back go your quicktime events.

Yes, and donning the garments of a faction will give the reputation to that faction.

What does not make sense here?

lmao what in the fuck is that logic?
All your quests are structured around being the mysterious courier helping out.
Just admit it's an oversight on the part of the developers instead of making a shit excuse, it doesn't make the game bad.

>knock in someone's door in civilian clothing
>who the fuck are you, get out of my lawn punk

>knock in someone's door in police clothing
>hello officer how can i help you

only basement dwellers would have problems understanding such easy mechanic.

>Can't wear nazi uniform at my job

REEEEEEEEEE ISN'T LIFE SUPPOSED TO BE ROLE-PLAYING?!

youtube.com/watch?v=PZkwHwZO75c

Yeah because people are identified by the clothes they're wearing, instead of, you know, who they fucking are.

Guess I better not wear a different t shirt tomorrow otherwise nobody will recognise me.

>that new intro
dude, is that cut content? i mean holy shit, it's no blue moon but rendering the intro in engine is kind of nice man. why did they cut that shit?

Yeah, the cut it because Gamebryo is shit for animations.
I think the CG sets the tone better for the game but the in-engine cutscene is pretty cool too.

>How are your enemys supose to know for who you work?
>
>Magical tes f3/4 mentalmagic?

Well they are already a hivemind capable of detecting when you murdered some of their members in the middle of nowhere with no witnesses, with teleporting hitmen that appear at your location not 3 seconds after you've become vilified, so why not?

They cut it because Obsidian is shit at animations, impressively even more so than Bethesda themselves.

Gamebryo is fine for animations, see Bully and Fallout 4. Obsidian are just shit at animation so got some other lads to do it

Warframe
>Sigils some stupid shit

>if you want the coolest legion armor you have to nuke them and become vilified
>if you want the coolest ncr armor you have to nuke them and become vilified

Like, did they not think about this for a second.

Not really, makes sense from a design view point since the point isn't about being a mysterious courier. You can play as one if you like as it IS a roleplaying game or you could just be a NCR trooper with a neutral faction stance since you're just doing your job.

Considering that you can reset infamy with both NCR and Legion I'd say that they did think about it for at least a second.

And they made it so senior members of a faction could pick out an imposter with ease or in a minute or so.

no, the real retarded things is the rewards after the lonesome road dlc
>nuke legion, playing as ncr hero
get legion armor
>nuke ncr, playing as legate
get ncr armor
seriously, which nigger made these design choices

How do you even make money in these games?
What good does me having my backpack stuffed with the most valuable shit ever if the vendors only have like 125 bottlecaps for trading?

The Gun Runners kiosk has a budget of at least two thousand, and the travelling merchants usually have one thousand.
Making money is piss easy.

Shit game.

>get back go your quicktime events.

Stop shilling you little horsefucker

Gun runners have 8000 every restock
You fuckers.

It's still a lot of money

The only thing shit I can think of was the amount of effort the doctor put into your abortion.

>10 luck
>clean out the Sierra Madre
>convert it all to pre-war money
I think I had something like a half million caps just from that. Spent money like a post-apocalyptic Monte Cristo.

No, because most NCR quests are tied to reputation. No reputation and you don't get quests and rewards. Stop defending shit game design. Even Fallout 4 let's you feel like a part of the faction you join by giving you quarters, equipment, radiant quests and promotions.

>you will never be an alpha black man

why even live

>coolest ncr armor
That bear shit looks awful and tacky. Doesn't bother me lore-wise as the officer who ordered it made probably just had shit taste, but why would (you) wear it?

This user gets it

You can play as one in New Vegas. As a bonus, when the NCR gets tired of your bullshit and shoots you up, you can always reload the save.

Infiltrating factions > baby-tier "roleplaying"

nuke both and go yes man. Win-win.

THIS

You are given a faction safehouse when your reputation is high enough. Radiant quests are trash.

A faction safe house that isn't actually yours, is in the middle of nowhere or has shit spawns near it. If I'm some big dog in the NCR why don't i have quarters in Camp Mcarren and given NCR Ranger Armour and weapons?

>Brotherhood safehouse has Deathclaws on its front lawn
At least its secure, somewhat

Because you're not a ranger, and you're also not a soldier/high ranking official in the NCR.

So I can't role play as a member of the NCR in a game about role playing? Lame.

>kill a faction member in the middle of nowhere
>everyone in that faction knows you murdered him due to magical hive mind
>You can slaughter millions of death squads and they won't stop coming

too bad that makes fucking sense asshat, if im across the desert im not going be able to identify you by your facial features

So you're expecting high end equipment when they can barely equip their army?
They also give you free t45 power armour and access to their quartermaster who sells t51b.

>So I can't role play as a member

Sure you can. You can roleplay as a dick sucking faggot too. But that doesn't mean the developers had to enable you being able to suck every cock in the wasteland.

Actually if you do it while sneaking it won't change your reputation.

>not being able to suck every cock in the wasteland
But isn't New Vegas the only Fallout with a gay option thus far?

FO2 had a gay option.

How did sucking every dick you come across in the wasteland translate to "but there's one gay guy" in the game to you?

How did you not make that connection?

>one member
You can kill a bunch before you become vilified. I don't know what you expect the devs to do though. Just allow consequence free mass murder if no one escapes alive?

What? I'm pretty sure if you kill one NCR member they'll be on your ass soon.

Fucking retard.
If you wear the uniform outside, I will assume you're military and based on your patches or insignia, your job. It's as if you assume everyone in the military knows each other. In active deployment, replacements for a platoon come all the fucking time. People inside a company will know each other but someone walking like they got a purpose on site, good disguise and not doing anything stupid will attract no attention, other than "great, another new guy".
Unless it's a high security area where ID has to be seen at all times, no-one is going to stop you to ask who you are if you look like you belong.

I don't become vilified by legion until I kill around 3-4 of them in Nelson.

The reloading animations were alright

I think it's just Obsidians inexperience with the engine + Gamebryo's faultyness is why they did what they did

Fairly sure you're an auxilliary/intel unit, not a trooper.

Legion is different. The Strip too, kill one robot and they won't mind too much. Hell, robots won't even attack you if you're Shunned. I think NCR cares about lives of their soldiers a bit more?

>If I'm some big dog in the NCR why don't i have quarters in Camp Mcarren and given NCR Ranger Armour and weapons?
Because you aren't a big dog. You're a contractor who is reliably getting stuff done, and they reward you accordingly.

The NCR and Legion are at war with each other, the vast majority of which involves conflicts that you have no impact on. You aren't a soldier, you never went through basic training on either side. You're a courier who happens to be skillful, and you offer your services as such.

Fallout 3 didn't have any better animations. This is what Obsidian had to work with.

This. you're a mercenary and you are being paid for your longstanding loyalty.

You're downplaying you, you're a contractor, but not an ordinary one. Grunts respect you, and when you tell people of your accomplishments they're impressed.
>I've already dealt with Cottonwood Cove.
>What do you mean?
>Killed them all.
>Wow, you're a beast!
(paraphrased)

I've never attacked the NCR before, but I doubt it. This is the country that trains their troops for two months and ships them off with no body armour after all.

I'm pro-NCR but I attacked some of them by accident or because I wanted to test a gun and then reload.

i'm pretty sure the reputation system is heavily bugged because i've had lots of different experiences with it. i'm not sure but i think that if you kill a faction member with a headshot you lose considerably more reputation.

But hit teams are my main source of income, I could have legion logos on my anti material rifle with all the money I got selling super sledges

>work for a commanding officer in normal clothes
>singlehandedly save his life/pull off some insane task only the courier can do
>respects you, idolises you, etc
>come in the next day wearing uniform
>commanding officer forgets who you are

That's retarded. Stop trying to defend this.

Commanders are guys who see through disguise.

The guy whose personal NV mod turns the game into chibi-STALKER.

>not doing it properly

You do realise the secret to dead money is actually all the useless shit littering the place like bent tin cans? With high barter you trade every bit of pointless shit you find for the pre-war money the holo-vendors have. In fact this is more lucrative than breaking the bank at the casino.

Sawyer didn't design Lonesome Road. He does like STALKER, though.

He sees through your disguise but you still don't get reputation and rewards for doing his jobs.

sierra madre dlc, 10 luck and going at a casino.

He doesn't oversee it personally?

That's fucking retarded man, all this clutching at straws and bending logic to defend a clear oversight.

Jury Rigging. In fact jury rigging is so good its the only perk that every build with no exceptions should have.

what are some good gameplay modifications? are there any like, open-vegas type stuff that actually work well? all ive done so far is bug fixes and graphics mods

It's not an oversight, it's a mechanic that isn't perfect but serves its role in the game. As the guy above said, having an option to pretend to be a member of a faction to fool it is more important that "Gay roleplaying" like "I'm working for this faction as a contractor so I am going to wear their armour and pretend to be a part of them".

I just wish you could scrub faction insignia from some armours; then again, I'm not sure how would some of them look at that.

this kills the cuckie

>This is the country that trains their troops for two months and ships them off with no body armour after all
Can this meme end? I've never seen ncr soldier without armor.
