But pretty much every character in modern media period is "focus tested" in some way or another, whether that means being exceptionally attractive, young, tall, gruff and manly, and sometimes it clashes in some way with the game. An example would be really skinny Japanese characters lifting huge heavy objects because these characters have to be sexy to be appealing. But these characters can still be well written and star in great games, movies or other media. TFA was good, as you said, because of good writing, allowing it to shine.
