To my knowledge they've only ever fully stopped one project, and that was to be like an HD reimagining with blatantly copies Sonic 3 assets, and the makers were too busy being internet superheroes constantly talking about how Sega wont do shit that they didn't actually ask Sega anything. When they stepped up finally, the game was taken down.

Other games they've "Taken down" were more like... "Taken in." They usually absorb the competition, not destroy them.
