MGS Snake Eater.

has the cold war actually ended?

Russia's been less than friendly as of late.

Yes.

America "won" in as much as you can win a cold war simply by outliving Soviet Russia.

damn...

World in Conflict. It's also the greatest rts ever made and if you disagree it's probably because you suck too much cock to think clearly.

I mean one of the main belligerents literally dissolved...I'd say that's a pretty solid indication of a victory

Kuwabara, Kuwabara...

This game has cold war stuff.

You mean America.

World in Conflict

>one of the main belligerents literally dissolved...
Or did it?

Tropico 5

user, i wanna let you know that you's mah nigga and that WiC is literally a god tier game

Russia and Soviet Russia are basically the same thing

Well from my point of view the ruskies are evil.

Operation Flashpoint

America hasn't won anything since WW2, And that was largely a team effort.

Russia and America have gone on to develop more powerful nukes since the cold war. Nobody won.

>they didn't win because I said so

I've never had a problem with ruskies. Hell, I'd even pour them some vodka and squat with them if they visited

I don't mind the average Russian. Their government and leaders are pure human garbage, however.

THE RUSSIANS HAVE THE MORAL HIGH-GROUND user!

They didn't win because fact, user kun.

t. angry slav

Nah no.
Soviet was a hegemony. Russia tries to establish one.

Red alert Command and Conquer series

Shameful.

Putin isn't involved in the cold war. Obama received a Nobel Peace Prize for disarming several nuclear weapons (a small drop in the bucket) along with Russia.

The problem with Putin is that he wants to force surrounding countries to become the Soviet Union again. After that, Russia would most likely return to their old ways.

Except the communist regime and the entirety crashed and burned, while the west pretty much went on going as if nothing happened. I'm pretty sure west won the Cold War there.

Did you NOT notice Soviet Union does not exist anymore, absolute majority of the countries of former Eastern Block are no longer socialist countries pretty much in control of the SSSR, and the whole ideology basically falling apart?

Bruh, the nigga just wants to keep things as they are, i.e. maintain buffer states. NATO is the one that keeps expanding.

I guess there isn't much commie-blocks in America

Here on SA it's always sunny, people are nice in the streets and carnival is a thing.
You can found parties literally everyday of the week, people drink beer like there is not tomorrow and fuck like rabbits.

t. Brazilian

Dunno, maybe hues don't have a tendency to reflect on their misery.

No. Most people don't realize that the period from 1990 to now was just an intermission and the sides have changed. The USA now represents Communism/Globalism and Russia along with most of Eastern Europe now represents Conservatism/Nationalism.

They seem like the good guys, looking at this all from across the pond.

Maybe the EU should do a better job at marketing them as 'evil' to us.

Hotline Miami. More in 2 than 1.

>usa

it's corporatism you dumb commie.
and eastern eu still represent an authoritarian shithole to the rest of the world. even in its former allies. The only one to think otherwise is dumb putinbots and rednecks.

Then why are 99% of brazilians on any game always so toxic?

>russian nationalism
more like russian serfdom

Because people dont kidnap each other on the internet.

>it's corporatism you dumb commie.
I think he wanted to refer to the wide-spread left-wing philosophy rather than the economical model, but got the two utterly confused.

>and eastern eu still represent an authoritarian shithole to the rest of the world.
RUSSIA represents (and is) an authoritarian shithole. There is more to east europe than Russia, something they really should have slowly started teaching in schools again since the Cold War ended, really.

Fuck every single one of you in this thread.

Your next lady president is literally accusing them of making Pepe memes and promoting nationalism in your own country as well as supplying ISI((((L)))). How the fuck does one even react to that?

Twilight Struggle is a really fun board game (highly recommended) and its adapted somewhat okay to PC.

You are fighting for influence, doing coups and realignments of the world while historic events occur to throw off or give the initiative to map control. You do this while making sure not to accidentally cause WW3.

And our (((next))) male (((president))) blame china, south america and every 3rd world country on earth for our problem. They either laugh or hire shills to write angry comments and move on making more iphones.

Great thread.

It has. You might find an issue with what it DID with the victory, but it had won the cold war.

Really, why is it so difficult to realize different things happen at different times? You dislike the direction that the west is taking nowdays: fair enough. But why does that make you ignore the history?

>no game where i can go to different commie blocks and kill slavs because nike is better than addias

You should read upon the US and UK pre WWII. It was doing what it's doing today for more than a century.
And the Cold War never even really ended. Just take a look at the conflict in Chechnya and how much west glorified the terrorists from there as freedomfighters. Doesn't remind you of anything that's happening these days?

The Red Alert series.

This. The campaign is brilliant, and has some great characters. You'll hate Bannon from the start, but trust me, that changes.

Fuck you user.

>usa

Play Twilight Struggle. It's on steam. Learn with the AI then sink your teeth into multiplayer. Recreate the entire Cold War and feel the same pressures and willingness to be immoral in order to win.

Not realy a cold war when they're beating the shit out of eachother with nukes and storms.

I love shit like this
I would wish for a sequel but modern Ubi has them chained to division

Like other people have said Twilight Struggle is excellent. And not only is it a good game, it really captures the Cold War feeling.

You're gonna get raped playing online though before you've got a good knowledge of the strategy and cards. I'm not really sure how well the AI will prepare you for playing against real people either.

there's a difference between banter and being an annoying cunt. Most brazilians are annoying cunts, brazuca puto.

Battlezone, future cold war in space with hovertanks.

Heroin addiction is a scary depressing thing to be honest. None of those people started out by doing krokodil, they do it because they ran out of money for better drugs and heroin withdrawals are something special.

>I could not imagine living there.
Based on gore pics from heroin addicts or what? I live here working at some shitty job for half a week and it gets me enough money to have a nice battlestation, bunch of consoles, being able to throw money at whatever fancy food i want, while renting a flat and having whatever fun with friends i want. Not saying it's summertime moe anime here but i can never understand those exaggerations on how scary and depressing it is here. The weather could be better tho. Fucking swamp-petersburg. It has it's own charm for people who like rains and being melancholic i guess
I mean, whenever i'm reminded about US taxes, rent costs and bills, or see another video of niggers being niggers, or whatever else, it doesn't really portrays US all that much better to me desu senpai.
Oh and btw, watching Stranger Things recently, that place (Indiana apparently?) REALLY looks like Karelia, like really. How cold it's there around spring?

>St. Petersburg
So, what kinda drugs do you like?

AI is pretty good for being AI, tbqh. It will at least teach beginners not to DEFCON suicide.

I hate discomfort of altered states so none.
Worst i had was smoking hash a few times with friends and it was awful. Made me sleepy as fuck and i didn't get what's fun being sleepy in the middle of the day

That's got to be the worst thing about the PC version over the board game really, when I play in person against someone new to the game I just treat defcon suicide like a check in chess and let them make a different move instead.

On the PC it just gives you an extra prompt to click through right rather than a warning that you're about to lose the game? I'm not sure now since I don't think I've ever done it.

Hammer & Sickle

Try real weed, I didn't have great experiences with hash other, you never know what chemicals are mixed into it.

stalin was based
one wall wasnt enough
gas the krauts

It is a bit unforgiving, and I think the tutorial only has one screen about being careful with cards at low DEFCON, etc.

>On the PC it just gives you an extra prompt to click through right rather than a warning that you're about to lose the game? I'm not sure now since I don't think I've ever done it.

That's a really good idea. But I don't think there's any prompt; it just kills you. Someone might have to verify that for me, though.

I never even looked at the tutorial, I'm curious now though.

Does it tell you what the common openings are and how you should generally be playing either side?

America didn't even win WWII.

Russia and the British did.

>emerge as the only power with a completely intact infrastructure
>be world power for the next 100 years

not sure how that isn't winning, m8

No, I think it just shows you the most common setup for US and USSR. It doesn't really get much into the actual strategy.

That's a shame.

I feel like it's a game that a lot of people will just give up on before they ever find out how great it is.

>British

Maybe, but the tutorial does a fine job of teaching the very basics. The AI does a good job of teaching the strategy through trial and error. I feel like they want you to struggle through learning it; hopefully modern gamers are willing to do that because it's a real gem of a game and a really decent PC adaptation.

They love all those card games like Hearthstone right. I'm gonna assume that they're probably exactly like TS.

They should really do a deal for two copies at a discount though so you can get it and send one to a friend. The best way to play is against someone with a similar skill level, even you're both at zero.

Dude, Murrica literally tries to make the primary enemy and scapegoat out of Russia. Something something Dr. Manhattan's role in Watchmen.

>>emerge as the only power with a completely intact infrastructure
Well no shit, not that hard to achieve when you're far away from all the action and are practically irrelevant to the victory over Nazi Germany besides saving baguettes and keeping japs in check.

>USA now represents Communism

What a dumbass.

>USA
>Communist
Far from it, they're not even socialist. Americans are individualistic as fuck.

I love WiC but let's not pretend like it's a great RTS. Most of the campaign missions are fending off light cannon fodder BMPs and BTRs with a platoon of Abrams that are nearly untouchable, meanwhile calling in airstrikes to obliterate the mindless hordes. It's the COD of RTSes and that's not a comparison I make lightly.

>British

LOL

Many Americans unironically think that, if you can believe it. "It's the commanism cuz the gubbamint took mah welfare and gave to the niggers"

Reminder that if America went up against Russia they would lose. I mean man to man combat. Russia in every conflict has come out on top. This is because they just don't give in. I'm not Russian by the way I from the UK so I am speaking from a point of neutrality. Everyone that has went to war with them is inevitably broken down by them. It doesn't mean you should bow down to them but just don't start a war. You would be fucked. And the UK would not help.

>East vs West never ever

You fannies were late to WW1 and WW2. Next time there is a world war make sure you turn up on time. Cheers.

I would rather not be nuked. You guys all think you want a 3rd world war but you don't really. All of the degenerates here would be the first to die on the field of battle.

WARGAME

You called?

Maybe he's a German. Destroying Europe for no reason is in their blood.

>if you fight a war against a country under a specific set of restrictions to give them the advantage they would win

huh

Aye probably. I'm Scottish so my people and the English got fed up fighting each other for no reason centuries ago.

They didn't do so hot in Afghanistan.

Or Chechnya the first time around. Or Poland in the 20s. Or the Japanese in 1905. Or France in Britain in Crimea.

>Russia in every conflict has come out on top
why the fuck would you say that
What country anywhere is this true for?

>it's the COD of RTSes
then why haven't 20 iterations have been made of it yet? Lets not talk out our asses now. It might not have been innovative but it felt good to play and the story actually mattered. It was pretty solid 8 or 9/10

Black ops 1 had a suprisingly decent campaign, i reccomend checking it out

how's it feel being the 10% of top russia?

MGS PEACE WALKER is a decent one. It ranges from awful to great depending on your preferences, though

That was different. Afghans are hard as fuck. The land is on their side. Plus I am talking about the big dogs like former empires duking out. You know the countries that actually matter.

you know, WWII was the final ''good'' war fought, and arguably the last one, you were fighting nazis, they were, and are by far the best enemies you can think of, a living trope of pure evilness, that also happened to use hugo boss black coats, they were almost perfect enemies, who also fought a war against the world for 6 years, ever wondered why shooters feels lame now? because you are not killing nazis, thats why, you can't replace nazis with russian, of terrorist, or anyone actually

It WAS innovative though, just mostly in ways that simplified and streamlined the game. No base building, units give you a full refund on resources after they die, air support is invincible, etc.

It did feel good to play though and the story was enjoyable, especially with the Soviet Assault expansion. Also they didn't make 20 iterations because RTSes as a whole died off.

You're an idiot.

You're shitposting just to get the naziboos out.

The USSR is dead, but the idea is still alive. The pendulum is so far to the left that even normies are starting to see it rearing it's ugly head. The Democrats had a literal communist versus a hippie that wrote her college thesis on Saul Alinsky running in their primary.

Fucking Jungle in Syberia. He ask cold war game not fantasy game.

>The pendulum is so far to the left
>literal communist

Educate yourself, ridiculous asshat.

Nah, I'm Russian and I don't really like my country but it's not THAT bad. It's decent.

>And the UK would not help
You will do what we tell you to do.

If something so huge has gone down hat the US and Russia are in open warfare with each other then you should bet your bottom dollar that the UK would be helping. And France, and Germany, and Canada, and Poland, and all the other NATO members...

Go home, /leftypol/.

Please tell me you are not this stupid.

World in Conflict

Communism being discredited was a net gain for the world, but you have to admit, their presence kept first world capitalism in check (because you can't be such an overt pond shitting fuck and have to play nice if Communist revolution was a very real threat) and gave us something to compete/strive against.

krokodil, pretty much a drug made from FUCKING PETROLEUM

>Most of the campaign missions are fending off light cannon fodder BMPs and BTRs with a platoon of Abrams that are nearly untouchable
Yeah WiC is one of my favorite games but this is pretty much true. Although if you play on very hard or whatever the highest difficulty was then you get your ass blasted by that cannon fodder in certain sections of the game where the enemies just keep endlessly respawning and charging you with no breaks.

The New York mission is pretty much the perfect example of that. The marines are fucking useless and can't kill anything, and the enemies keep coming faster than your helicopters could possibly kill them. You can spend all of your 30 points on some airstrikes to help clear them out, sure, but they'll be back again in just a few seconds.

The reinforcement point system also fucks you if any of your valuable units get killed right before you're swarmed by another wave, because they trickle back so fucking slowly. Might fail a time based objective in that case because you don't have enough firepower to get through the human waves of Russians/Americans and your points won't replenish in time.

And fuck Seattle on very hard, almost fucking unplayable. Whose idea was it to make the objective 5 control points which couldn't put up any defenses until there was a unit inside every one of them? You split up all your tanks, they get rushed by a sudden burst of like 20 BMPs, you retreat, your units die, you made no progress, now you gotta wait 5 minutes to get all your points back.

I didn't say agree, I said show the most basic, entry-level understanding of politics before posting "IM A GIANT RETARD ALSO INFOWARS DOT COM" all over the place

Death to Spies

Overrated garbage. MGS should have ended at 1

Capitalism is always in a contradictory state. It's in the interest of many individual corporations and companies to be evil, cheating, lying, corrupting, cost-cutting dicks, but it's hurts the overall market and employee base very bad if everyone's a dick (because a free market doesn't work very well without trust, and nobody but the very top would have any money to spend because they'd all be wage slaves), thus hurting everyone's profit. The ideal situation for an individual in a such a market would be if everyone else had to play by strict rules, but you didn't (and could hide it).

It's still the best system we have for 95% of things though.

...

Dumb commie shits.

Moving into a big city and applying for any job there is being top10%? Now, there's no denying that anything outside proper big cities is a fucking dead wasteland shithole from nightmares, but every young and able should never stick there. I'm far from top10 anything, believe me

The vidya market is doing very well overall though and it's a pretty open secret to almost everyone that they lie outrageously, pay for reviews, underpay their employees, ship unfinished products, and treat their customer base like shit. People are dumb and complacent; they don't care.
