I miss old Cred Forums

Mike is the only screen clearing ability you really need. It is not shit it is very useful, it clears enemies off the screen 3 (THREE) times and it is very cute and charming. It is a good staple of the series that deserves to stay in as it is and if you want a music themed moveset then ask for Band Kirby or whatever not a Mike overhaul.

Crash is 1/3rd of Mike but it does better damage against bosses. It's a fun self-imposed challenge to carry it through a level, Kirby is about playing how you want, so no harm in keeping it.

Festival is a disappointment but at least it turns the enemies into items and it's more useful the more team mates you having, incorporating the game's gimmick into it, it isn't simply a reskin of crash.

Cook looks like it'll get more moves like Magic did in Squeak Squad. Sure the screen nuke removes the power, but it's a charming must-have move and it disappears for balance purposes. Kawasaki gets to stick around with a cooldown timer.

I enjoyed Squeak Squad and I think it's a good entry in the series.
I see how some people would find it mediocre, but some of the features it had were incredibly unique.
The spray-paints, the bubble mechanic, and lots of interesting and unique abilities.
The final boss was underwhelming but the titular Squeak Squad made up for it.

It happens to pretty much every general I've seen. Which is why Cred Forums mods toss their generals to /trash/ when the series is on hiatus.
I think the honest best course of action is to let the threads die until significant content is shown, if not until the game is released.

I agree that it was fun and had a lot of neat and interesting ideas. It was just too damn short to do anything with them, and any extra content like minigames and a damn speedrun mode was rather lacking if you ask me.

Adeline and Zero are good unique characters. Zero is the best villain behind Nightmare. The enemies are pretty great too, Pon and Con, Acro, HR-H, Pix, and others.

Hating on the Shimomura games is a minority. Most that don't like them prefer Super Star's gameplay.
Even as someone who loves Super Star Zero is better than Marx 100%. Marx is an overrated as fuck character.

To further this a lot of loli depictions are a romanticized drawing of the human form in a lot of cases, so even then loli isn't actually that accurate to what actual children look like, the only instances of it being outright morally questionable is when it's in the toddlercon territory.

Balancing purposes. You don't want a bloated roster, and every enemy/ability is an important factor of level design. So knocking a few off gives you a more balanced game that can have a couple more new things and be polished a little more. To bring up a common complaint, imagine if some of the redundant abilities were cut, then maybe this game would have time to give helpers better models and all unique animations. I'm just hoping this game keeps RtDL's trial rooms, personally, that would be a bigger deal given how many abilities there are.

I think its also important to keep in mind this is a AAA game with a publisher (Nintendo) and an expectancy of polish and feature completeness, as well as a lack of "showing the seams" or what goes on behind the curtain, so no talk of engines or assets and what have you.

If it was some indie dev then yes, you could expect just the leftover abilities being a bonus, either with some cheat code or just at the ability rooms or a toolbox as you said, whether or not they're fully implement wouldn't matter its just a neat little bonus they can manage since its a bit of a copy paste. HAL can't do that, if they're going to have an ability in they have the expectation of it being present in the main game and fully incorporated, abilities are features to be advertised and while "every ability so far" is a big bonus, the publisher would rather not see it shoved aside as a bonus or basically inaccessible through natural gameplay. They'd sooner make a game or specific mode to take advantage of it, and at that point it suddenly has to be polished and well thought out and properly curated, which defeats the purpose of cheap copy paste bonus.

Does Nintendo hate fun by not letting people play around unless its specifically curated and controlled? probably, I won't deny I'd love to just load up abilities and enemies as I please in a kirby gary's mod but that ain't happenin

water's projectiles can squeeze through spike-filled alcoves, poison is better against bosses and has a more defensive approach
spear has a solid projectile game and can cut ropes, staff has a bigger AoE and more combo potential
wing and jet already were in KSS(U) together and they were different enough

not saying they should put pseudo-clone abilities in (cause of logistics reasons, needless to say) but i wouldn't see too much getting in the way of it if they had the time and resources

I don't even know what people's beef was. I thought Rainbow Curse might look like shit but the Wii U's gamepad was way better than I expected and playing Rainbow Curse felt great. Sure, the game itself wasn't 10/10 but the hardware worked perfectly.

I don't know either, the most baffling part to me was always wanting it on the 3DS. I guess that's what people actually owned and the original was on the DS so it makes sense, even though it doesn't and it would be a lot worse than a beautiful looking game having to be played on a small screen, would've been a shit looking game on a mega tiny secondary screen or on a tiny 3D screen and permanently disconnected from the control screen, which would be a different aspect ratio on top of tiny.

Sure I agree but I think you need to reread the posts, user is specifically talking about having literally every ability that has been in the engine present in every new game, since the code and assets should theoretically just transfer over, since its always sad to abilities cut despite having worked fine the prior game, but that kind of ignores the real game dev behind it. We're discussing the logistics behind said decisions, and how there's roadblocks even if added as a bonus outside the main game's feature set

what is the ideal number of collectables per level for a kirby game
DL2 had 1 collectable per world
DL3 had 1 collectable per level
RtDL had 3-5 collectables per level
and the rest had either no collectables or 3 collectables

those abilities look a bit too slow to be used regularly, it would be quicker to just avoid the enemies altogether

DL3 style, I guess. I like to look out for little side-tasks while I platform.

This makes me laugh because I had an old friend who got pissed at games that do this sort of shit. He specifically got mad at games that make you collect a minimum of collectibles like Rayman or Super Mario 3D World. Dude was ranting about how just beating the level should be enough to continue on with the game.

i agree with this, in a way
level completion should count towards beating the game at minimum, and level progression should always be linear or limitedly branching to keep a pace of sorts
collectibles should add a layer of replayability to the game and give you extra tools with which the game can be replayed, rather than just extra levels to play to count toward 100 percent
thats not to say extra levels can't happen though
