Bloody fucking hell Cred Forums, I should have listened to you guys.
It's such a goddamn good game, I'm still pretty lost in many thing (I think I just unlocked an anchor like teleportation system in the underground part of the pawn guild in the capital?) but I'm having a blast so far.

Is there anything important I should know? Maybe Mods I should use?
Also should I finish completely my Fighter progression before switching to Warrior?

Can you play this shit solo? I fucking hate having to drag an AI around.

I don't think so, you're forced to have at least 1 AI with you as far as I noticed, but you can completely ignore them or turn them into healing/gathering bots.

You can there's even a skill of sorts that gives benefits if you go around solo.

Well shit, that's awesome.

Forgot to add that you might probably will need to make use a profession that let's you hits things from afar.

Be sure you--
>(I think I just unlocked an anchor like teleportation system in the underground part of the pawn guild in the capital?
FUCK

Sorry OP, you were just missed several quests. Better restart

Oh shit, what did I miss?

Can't waifu best girl

Huh, I have a similar initial story but complete different outcome
I also love MHW (been playing since 2G) and got DD this sale
The game was quite underwhelming for me. The gameplay is fun; mounting, the abilities, the classes, there's quite a lot of variety in playstyles, which is super cool. Problem is the questing sucks, enemy variety is not really there, the world is uninteresting and the story so far is boring/uninspired

I really wanted to like the game since Cred Forums sucks its shlong almost all the time but so far the game is a compendium of good ideas poorly executed

dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Lost_and_Found
If you don't complete this bullshit side quest before doing the pawn's guild quest, you're locked out of a certain area and several quests relating to it. See this loli? No quests for her.

As early as you are in the game, I would probably restart. I did the same thing so I know how you feel; just rush through the story content until you get to Gran Soren again.

Oh wait Anons, I did this quest!
I made sure to do any quest I would see!

OP, show us your loli pawn.

And you returned to Casardis to complete it?
If so, you're safe. This is the only one that a lot of people miss out on. The other missable quests are a bit harder to miss, so as long as you don't rush story content you'll be fine.

Another thing to keep in mind: Later on, vendors in Gran Soren will ask for a bronze, silver or gold idol. Their stock will change depending on which idol you give them. The only way to get the Gold Idol is by escorting completing a quest in a very specific way, so make sure you pay attention to this when you get around to it. dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Escort_Duty

>using pawns
>not riding solo the whole game

I dislike using guides but I -kinda- used one on DD to not miss shit
Check Dragon's Dogma Wikia's quest page: it outlines the story stages and the quests that are dependant on them. Just check when does the stage ends, and do normal questing. When you think you're done with a certain stage, check if you're missing any of those stage-dependant quests and do them if any

Here you go.

I'll keep that in mind, thank you Anons!

Also about my profession question in the OP, is it ok if I switch to Warrior before finishing Fighter completely? or will I miss on some things?

>not teen pawn and old man Arisen
Shit taste

You can always come back later if needed. Vocations only influence stat growth and even there it's never that important - gear always triumph. There was a pic that proved this.
Anyway game's forgiving in several ways, change vocation any time you want and have fun

Older pic because that one looks like shit.

You benefit from leveling all classes. Try them out, stat gains are not a game breaker in DD.

Fuck, that's reassuring, I was kinda worried the game would pull a FFTA on my ass and make my character growth abyssmal if I wanted to play something different.

Imagine if 80% of the game wasn't cut out from the final release.

>cut
It probably wasn't even made.

Yup. There is even a perk that give you a damage and defence boost while going solo.
Nope. You can brine them.
Nah. You can solo with all classes relatively easily.

when is capcom going to get around to making a proper sequel to this?

Solo assassin is a top-tier build

the only essential mod is reshade/enbseries to make the game look less washed-out

Your weapons and periapts play a much bigger role. Especially if you don't plan to do endgame shit.

Fuck this game.

The wind literally PUSHED me.

They are still milking Dragon Dogma Online so I doubt a sequel will happen any time soon.

TOO FUCKING BAD IT MAKES THE LOADING SCREENS 10X LONGER

Post cute arisens and pawns
Yes I'm aware the graphics are horrible, these were taken when I played on a laptop

Fucking manlets

my minimal reshade contrast settings take about 3 seconds to load

enbseries is a lot more demanding

Well that's a bummer. Is DDO still Japanese only?

Never because Dragon's Dogma and Lost Planet were attempts by Capcom to entice Westerners towards Monster Hunter.

Now that Monster Hunter has exploded there's little reason for them to dump resources into Dragon's Dogma. Remember that this game was, prior to RE6, their most expensive game ever. And they even had to cut a ton of content like other areas of the mainland, elves and dwarves, male Griffins, and the fucking MOON.

Yes.

Manlets vs Matt Damon.

>he doesn't know
user...

DDO has some cool shit like a full on chemist class that throws fucking explosive flasks, launch flasks, etc...

Must have beat this game from scratch about seven times. Here are some tips for you OP, but be warned some may be things you wished you figured out for yourself:

>Cling onto the armored ogre's faces to make them pull off their own helmets
>If you are using a vocations that knows instant reset, you can instant reset the animation for putting out and putting back on the lantern, which saves a lot of tediousness when in a dark place where your lantern keeps getting wet
>Dump all your crafting materials in the bank, they're heavy as fuck. Out in the field, use your pawns as pack mules for all these materials. When you send a pawn back, everything you gave them except for gear goes back to your bank.
>Always keep a pawn with you that knows how to heal and enchant weapons. Fire enchant is the best throughout vanilla, holy enchant is the best for bitterblack isle.
>Don't bother giving pawns flasks of oil for their lanterns because they'll throw the oil over enemies and waste it
>Go climbing and shit in towns, go all over the rooftops, because there are sacks of coins in places you'd never expect the devs to have cared about
>After you beat the griffin boss in the tower, there are shitloads of loot surrounding the perimeter of the room so don't miss it, do two laps to be sure
>Picks lots of mushrooms because they give back stamina and can't go rotten
>Look up a guide for how to get bronze, silver and golden idols (I think they're called). Each major merchant in the game will give you a quest to give them an idol, and the quality of the idol you give them determines how much their stock will improve.
>There's an unused electric gutair version of the boss theme: youtube.com/watch?v=EioUJCiy7_Q

WOLVES HUNT IN PACKS

If I gave the Gran Soren weaponsmith a bronze idol already, is it impossible to get better stuff from him from silver/gold? Or can I get that from another merchant later?

...

Once they have an idol, that's it. You can give those idols to the other merchants.

>>Dump all your crafting materials in the bank, they're heavy as fuck. Out in the field, use your pawns as pack mules for all these materials. When you send a pawn back, everything you gave them except for gear goes back to your bank.
Shit, that actually make sense.
My character is at average because of them and I wasn't sure if I should do it or not.
>Go climbing and shit in towns, go all over the rooftops, because there are sacks of coins in places you'd never expect the devs to have cared about
I noticed that since the fishing village actually and that make me super fucking happy because I love exploring stuff and getting rewarded for it feels good as fuck.

Thank you for all your advices user!

>tfw everything is a bulletsponge and i dont know what to do

Does it matter which merchant gets which idol, or does the idol unlock the same stuff regardless?

Yeah, that's it for this run. You can try again in new game plus. New game plus is kind of shit though because the enemies don't scale, you just blast through everything. That's why I start a brand new game every time.

Do not bully
Your arisen looks great

The level of the idol determines how much better their stock of wares is. And it matters which merchant gets the gold, yes. What they unlock differs for each.

Get better weapons and/or augments. Also, use periapts when needed.

When I first played, my character was just doing no damage and it sucked. I think I was playing the basic bitch dagger one, it's been so long I can't remember the names. Started again and didn't have the same problem, though. Here's all the information I can think to give you:

-Did you change vocation early on? Gear is the most important thing later on, but very early in the game, a vocation change from a strength class to a magic class or vice versa will have a noticeably negative impact.
-The bandits are killers early on in the game, if you're struggling with them that's normal. You may also have wandered quite too far for your level.
-There is an ogre or a troll or something in an early quest, the one that takes you beneath the pawn guild. You're not supposed to be able to kill him quickly yet, it takes ages. It's also not uncommon for this enemy to fall to his death, almost as if intended.
-Failing all this, perhaps you haven't purchased the proper abilities and augments expected of you. Make sure to get the augments that just straight up increase your core stat (like clout increases strength, as I recall), and buy attack abilities. Use them more often and see how much of a difference they make.

OP here, which merchant should get one then?
Or is gold good on everyone and you need to NG+ to get more gold one?

Also yes of course, buy the best weapons available. Look for the accessory called iron nails or iron knuckles or something from the titty whore merchant, it gives you +10 strength and +10 magic which is a big deal early in the game.

Thanks, always liked the Drow/Dark Elf look.

ive got the best weapons i can atm

I've never ever got the golden idol, but if I did I would give it to the weapon/armor man.

Guy if you're physical
Madeleine if you're magic

>Warrior has the MH GS charge
>I can actually GOTCHA BITCH in Dragon's Dogma
I LOVE THIS GAME

Guy?
You mean, the merchant we safe from the goblin around the beginning?
Or is guy the weapon/armor smith?

the standard weaponshop guy in the capital city

Alrighty!

I meant the weapon/armor smith in Gran Soren. The other user probably knows better, though.

I did a new game + on my warrior just to charge the arc of deliverance before the griffon arrives on the hunting mission so I could one shot at him as he landed, which actually removes the whole tower chase quest.

MASTERWORKS ALL

...

>tfw u accidentally miss a badge of vows that becomes inaccessible due to story progression

can they be gifted? i have the quest but i can't complete it now.

OP here.
Quick question since I can't check it out right now (I'm on the otherside of the map killing bandits to try to find some spell book for a guy)
Can I pick up all the quest from the wyrm hunt captain guy? or it's only one by one?

Been playing this for the last week or so and really enjoyed it except for how unforgiving the quest and save systems can be at times.

Would have loved just a few more boss monsters like the chimera/griffin etc for variety, after playing for a while it does get a little samey.

iirc its one by one. if you try to select another quest, it replaces what you're doing currently

No you can pick them all up, I always do.

Gotcha, I got a lot to do when I come back from that quest then.
Also holy shit, why is a troll working with bandits, everyone but me is dead FUCK

The end game and bitterblack isle are for the boss fights

>troll
Meant cyclops!

>- Improve textures(icons, landscape, character, clothing)
>- Improve graphics
Have modders found a way to do that? Last I remember they only had ENBs out.

Only after you buy the next rerererelease

yes

THE WIND IS PUSHING MEEEEEEEEEE

>Randomize the size of monsters
Does that actually work with the climbing mechanic?
Like I could climb on a giant harpy without it being jank as fuck?

i would actually play the mmo if it came to NA.

>- FLYING INTO FREE.mp3 mod
only thing I cared about desu

You can play solo, there's even certain abilities that incentivize it.
You might want to play on easy, though; you're meant to have a party.

There's only 2 merchants that give the Idol quest.

Use an ENB mod to enhance the graphics.

Fighter will reward you with a strength boost augment. Warrior will reward you with an even greater strength augment, but combined your physical damage will be much higher.

Warrior is probably the least fun class, though, just warning you.
Strider/Assassin/Magick Knight/Magick Archer is where it's really at.

Best game to roleplay as Lina inverse and her party.

no

Never even occurred to me, but you're totally right.

Is there as spell remotely similar to dragon/giga slave tho?
youtube.com/watch?v=M2zls8EEPds

Its pretty damn good, but DDON is objectively better in gameplay department as it has more elaborate vocations with more diverse playstyle. Also DDDA is very suspectible to cheese strats. Shit like peripat elemental archer or cannon mystic knight shit on the game far, FAR harder than CB AED/SAED spam from MHW.

Magic Cannon from Magic Knight maybe

I agree op. I finally got around to buying it over the winter sale and it's all I've been playing recently. I even made a second steam account and set up family sharing so I could make another pawn
it's not that important even if he missed it. the game is meant to be replayed in new game+ so he'll have another chance to do any quests he missed
I'd say the most important thing is to not be too autistic on your first play through. don't keep checking the wiki. just enjoy exploring the world

Not really. Great Cannon is more like 2hu. A nigh constant stream of small projectiles, so great and blinding that it covers most of the screen.

did that one "super hard mode" mod ever come out that spawned super high level monsters around it looked mildly interesting

Get rid of the princess dress it's a sign of a complete noob. It looks like it's got good stats but it's inferior because those stats are for a complete set of armor rather than the peices.

>DDON
>Not intended for western piggu

I will never not be mad. I will go to my grave angry.

Getting monster hunter away from nintendo was anice step capcom BUT YOU NEED TO GO FURTHER YOU FUCKERS

not to mention armor stats don't really matter much after like mid game. you'd do fine wearing just cassardi clothes and armor
so just dress for fashion user

Maybe now that they got all that cash from MHW and saw for themselves that there is a market for "ARPGs where you learn movesets and bop chunky lads" in the west they will finally localize it.
That would be nice.

Well, you can play with VPN and shit, but yeah, it would be infinitely better having a western version.

Yes, but I forgot the name sadly

also there's a barely limping general over on /vg/ if you're interested.

I wouldn't doubt some retard higher up got canned for MHW to happen.
I've been hoping whatever stubborn fuckhead that were holding capcom back are finally gone.

Here lads

>thread under permanent wakestone alert
at least it's cozy

>filthy princess dress
Son, you better straighten up your act, or no girl is going to love you

>bought the captain armor set for my pawn
>realise it's the same one mercedes wears
>buyer's remorse

Why? Do you dislike mercedes or do you just not want a pawn dressed the same way as an npc?

the latter

Someone post the arguments for romance options pic

Ok. Personally I didn't really feel like any of the NPCs mattered.

Pawns can actually be incredibly useful so long as you're not a total retard when it comes to training yours or picking one. Never EVER pick one that has guardian as their inclination.
