That and you *Are* more likely to have technical difficulties more often which are a little more obscure than on windows. Not really an issue for people who're competent at problem solving but so for people who need to ask someone else for help with simple things on windows.
also, familiarity with windows.

So just what is stopping QNX from achieving market penetration over something like Windows or OS X?

Most people aren't intelligent enough to use GNU/Linux.

Shit UX out of the box

Drivers

This is the real reason. Normies aren't going out of their way to install an OS.

It sucks. That's a pretty big thing preventing it.

Very hard to change an industry standard

Xorg

there are to many options, and people do not truly want options, but simply the illusion of choice. They want to be told what to do.This is why linux will fail

Morons. Morons inhabit our planet and prevent all good things from happening. Morons are the reason for the success of war, theft, greed, and everything else bad in the world, including the biopoly of windows and apple.

It doesn't always just werk

it just werks more often than windows though

No matter how hard distro developers try to make GNU/Linux accessible, the duct tape holding it all of its disparate components together makes it impossible to make it 100% newbie friendly.

Linux won't take off on the desktop unless someone takes the Linux kernel and develops an entire OS around it as a single piece that doesn't have to worry about working with 500 different variants of everything, but instead only has to worry about working with itself.

it needs marketing, which cost a lot of money

Microsoft Office. Seriously

Because the concept of GNU and Linux are incomprehensible to normies.
You can't buy it in a shiny box made by a company.

This

Debian is the universial GNU/Linux distro

Games.

It's 2016 there's no reason Linux has to be such a pain in the ass to setup. Theres also no reason I should have to install or update things from a command line

This (unfortunately)

>it needs to trick people into using it
>by spending imaginary colored paper

kill yourself

Linux doesn't advertise. If I saw a Linux ad as often as I saw an Apple ad, then of course Linux would easily over take OS X.

first post best post

you don't, you're just being ignorant

ubuntu
opensuse
mint

True story of midnightbsd. No kidding.

Doing it via the command line is quicker and easier, unless your an idiot.
