Why does Cred Forums shill for this lazy deranged autist who hasn't contributed anything useful for decades

Why does Cred Forums shill for this lazy deranged autist who hasn't contributed anything useful for decades,
instead of this charismatic, reasonable guy who still spends most of his free time furthering Linux?

>for this... instead of this

Are you referring to the same person?

fucked up the pic, the autist is of course this guy.

Linus is not really that interested in the philosophy of free software.

Ayy was going to say this.

Well, he made your shitty os.

>Linus haven't contributed shit and also contributes to Linux at the same time
It's like I'm /dev/null-ed again

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

...

fail

Actually, since he was talking about Linus's personal contributions, it follows logically that he was referring to the Linux Kernel and his use of just "Linux" is not incorrect.

most of Cred Forums is retarded

>Why does Cred Forums shill for this lazy deranged autist who hasn't contributed anything useful for decades

Cred Forums is shilling for Linus?

Kernel code is reviewed by one of more than 700 reviewers. About 10 levels later, Linus looks at it, or what's left of it, as it may have been modified several times. Most of what is rejected he simply looks over, and goes nope. If he thinks it looks ok, he compiles and tests it. Usually for about 20 minutes. Then hands it over to others for further testing.
>Generally the substance of an interview I read a few months ago.

>imblying Cred Forums is not just one person
get fucked nigga

What a weird bubble this dude lives in. His entire worldview is based upon the freedom to change any code to his own pleasing. Who gives a shit? We are living on the crust of a burning globe that flies around in space. And this man finds importance in the changing of proprietary software. To me, he sounds like an autist.

Humanity needs open source software exactly because we are just a small population on a small planet on a single galaxy. In order to make fast advancements, the wheel shouldn't be invented again and again. By having public infomation about as many things as possible will reduce the unnecessary work around the globe. We seem to be way too far from actually working as one population, instead we're focusing on individual success. Individuals die, unless of course the human race as a whole develops a cure for aging.

How are 87 different flavours of Ubuntu not reinventing the wheel.

Because they all are Ubuntu, that's the wheel here. Once you have it you can test different small things and see which will be the best solution. Those 87 flavours are evolution.

If no one had wheels before they would first have to invent the basic idea before trying to adjust the size or material or things like filling it with air. You still need progress but now they all know the wheel already and have a head start.

I'd rather have one high quality Goodyear than 87 varieties of volunteer-assembled rubber and cloth patchwork

The reason why there is a high quality Goodyear as you know it today is because of people that test different things.

He also thinks child porn should be legalized, so there's that.

>the wheel shouldn't be invented again and again
And yet hundreds of nerds around the world compile their operating systems from scratch

Linus is literally stupid. He created a Unix-like for the 386 when one that was opensource already existed.

you are right, Linux is a retard
RMS is the genius behind GNU/Linux

Meh. There's a place for both and 'shilling' is a dumb word to use when both guys' product is free to all of Cred Forums.

Lol, creating his own computer kernel, what a fucking moron.

> that pic

my GOD

>a decent compiler followed by some shittacular bloated userland that was already done better by others
>os
haha no

RMS is literally stupid, he made a free as in freedom Unix clone when one made by professionals already existed

Stallman will never redeem himself after Tivo/GPLv3
