Musicbee is even worse. It's 2016 and windows still don't have good music player and can't open selected file with spacebar.
music player should just open music files and library path (folders with music) like MOC.

although i must admit, displaying it after every track IS superfluous. you set it up to only show up if %artist% for the given track differs from %album artist%. works with %album artist% 'various artists' as well of course.

To further illustrate how that works, notice how on the ASAP Rocky album only tracks with featured artists display the %artist% value since they differ from %album artist% in that they contain the featured artists.

As a result one single library search for '2Pac feat.' will return all feature tracks in that library no matter what album they're on.

I could never get into foobar customization. I downloaded a couple of components and it got to a nice point, but then I couldn't make or apply skins. It always fucked everything up.

This just in, autoplaylists are underappreciated.

It's really not that hard, for that setup I just used the Aubergine skin as a base, removed the WSH Panel Mod stuff that didn't work and customised some basic stuff like colours and other small details. Still looking to see how I can change the colour of the tab switcher though.

okay you dummy, you have to set the path, then scan the library too with guess what 'scan now' - yeah that's right.

after that i recommend monitoring the library for changes while f2k is running but not rescanning on startup. just leave f2k running. this way though changes that you do while f2k isn't running will not be reflected and require a rescan, or else there will be issues ofc.

Not him, but I use fullscreen when I'm actively listening to music, as in not doing much else and focusing on listening. It makes going through my library much easier and I get to have a nice big image of the album art up front.
When I'm programming or working in photoshop/illustrator/corel I use a more minimal layout.

For your artist filters, set instead of just %artist% or %album artist% set it to

$Swapprefix(%album artist%,A,DJ,La,The,Tha)
or
$Swapprefix(%artist%,A,DJ,La,The,Tha)

$Swapprefix(%artist%) or $Swapprefix(%album artist%) will put 'The' and 'A' at the end of an artist name in your filter for better sorting.

If you add more values like I did up there, e.g. 'DJ', La etc. those will get treated the same way.

Works on my machine.

In Windows set foobar2000.exe as the default program for cda-files in order to launch via the 'MEDIA' media key on your keyboard.

Also, in f2k's preferences, set the same key as a global hotkey for minimizing to tray and maximizing as well.

Lastly, in f2k's preferences, set that same media + 'CTRL' key as a hotkey for closing f2k - but this time not globally of course.

That key is now your one-stop shop for opening, closing, maximizing and minimizing foobar2000.

So this works on Windows 7 btw. Can't speak for any other Windows. Maybe someone can give feedback.
