Using a Fury I grabbed for $309 last month in an eGPU build.

In general it draws a lot of power, so that may be a concern for some people.

One thing I can tell you is that if you are rendering over 9000 frames per second, you will get coil whine. I recently updated my kernel (4.7) and the amdgpu drivers (1.1.2), and now its capped it to around 6500 (for me), so no more coil whine (for me).

Have to agree there about it not being the Fury X. That card trounces a 1070 last I checked. No clue where the Regular Joe Fury stands at the moment with the 480 and 1060 since I don't care.

A certain number of regular Fury cards can have their cores unlocked to match a Fury X anyway.

The regular Fury is only around 5% slower than the Fury X clock for clock, even without any unlocked cores. The Nitro OC comes factory overclocked at 1050MHz out of the box, so it's practically Fury X performance right off. I used to have one, which overclocked to 1130/550 on stock voltage, putting it above a stock Fury X.
