> Yahoo Inc. on Thursday disclosed a massive security breach by a “state-sponsored actor” affecting at least 500 million users, the latest hurdle for the beaten-down internet company as it works through the sale of its core business.
>Yahoo said a copy of certain user account information—including names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, hashed passwords and, in some cases, encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers—was stolen from the company’s network in late 2014 by what it believes is a state-sponsored actor.
Idk what's worse, that this company got hacked or that they didn't know for almost 2 years. Mayer should have spent that $1bil on better security rather than buying tumblr.
Well shit. I'm still using Yahoo for my primary email so fuck. Gonna have to change my passwords around.

The yahoo account I had hasn't been used in over 10 years and the password I used for it was only for that site so I'm not affected. It sucks though and will hopefully make people pay attention to their online info. Too many people think the big titian such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Apple are untouchable but they're just as vulnerable as yahoo. Sensitive material shouldn't be on "the cloud". I was having a discussion recently about Iran's regional intranet and whether it was a good idea. I think in the future we're going to see more sensitive materials move toward some kind intranet rather than the internet to make it harder for people in russia and china to steal our stuff.

You say it like it's a joke but employees have said she was that retarded. Everyone that worked at Yahoo new their mail app needed to be updated. She ignored them and spent all their money on media projects and the weather app.

>they didn't know for almost 2 years The rumors were there 2 years ago. But Yahoo! is dead. Only stockbrokers/financial advisors and the like think it's still relevant and worth something. It's slowly changing in a dummy corporation for laundring money or some shit. They made a blonde CEO so they could still do business with people who think with their dick.
The Yahoo e-mail service is a complete utter disaster. Their Help screenshots were severly outdated. Cancelling subscriptions is/was near impossible. When the new layout launched you sometimes end up at the wrong Yahoo domain and you end up in a login loop. Amounts of spam on new accounts is ridiculous.
They had 3 major hacks before and informed nobody. They killed GeoCities. They made Flickr irrelevant. Tumblr barely escaped. Yahoo! is the hospice of IT.
Tyler Jones
>see the news >haven't been to my mail account in three months >go to Yahoo >type in login expecting to get to my mail >hey ho, IP not the same as the one I previously connected with (the first two parts of it are the same though by the way) >according to nigger algorithms used by Yahoo this is SUSPICIOUS >get prompted to answer "security" question "what is the name of your uncle" >implying I would've compromised the security of my account by providing a real answer to that >can't login >locked out of my account despite knowing the password >Yahoo "customer service" consists of useless options that all eventually take me back to the same prompt for the "security" question Gee, thanks, Yahoo. I hope everyone in your company gets cancer or burns to death.

Tumblr is actually a nice platform, it's just the amount of idiots using it is growing so fast. Used to be pretty great for photography and porn. Nowadays I can't get even a decent fap from it without being confronted with 'triggered' and the likes.

>the breach happened all the way back in 2014
what is even the point of trying to make a big deal about it now
I figure that users affected by this have already had their accounts compromised within this 2 year period.
And even in the official statements on this and what to do, it says to change your password if you haven't since 2014. Meaning if you already changed your password after this breach users weren't even aware of, then you probably have nothing to worry about. You know, except for the security breach that's happened this year that we won't know about until 2019. :^)

Ah so that's what those "user with chinese IP has logged in your yahoo account on these dates" and those chinese facebook groups and friends added on facebook were
Jose Bell
you actually think yahoo support has access to customer passwords?

My guess is that Yahoo told Verizon during negotiations while they were under a non-disclosure agreement. This reveal is deliberate so Verizon doesn't assume liability for the leak after the deal is completed.

Toilet seats are manufactured in a range of different styles and colors, and they may be furnished matching the style of the toilet itself. They are usually built to fit the shape of the toilet bowl: two examples of this being the elongated bowl and the regular bowl. Some toilet seats are fitted with slow-closing hinges to reduce noise by preventing them from slamming against the bowl. Some seats are made of various types of wooden materials, like oak or walnut, and others are made soft for added comfort. Seats with printed multi-colored designs, such as floral or newsprint, have been fashionable at times. Other designs are made of transparent plastic, encapsulating small decorative items such as seashells or coins. The price of toilet seats varies quite considerably. Decorative textile covers for the toilet seat lid have gone in and out of fashion. Advocates claim that they allow the toilet to be used as a more comfortable seat and provide another way of decorating a bathroom, while critics view them as a sanitation problem which creates unnecessary work. Some metal toilets, such as those in many jails and prisons, have built-in toilet seats that cannot be removed, so that an inmate cannot fashion it into a weapon, shield or escape tool.
