Also, who runs the weebFTP? looks like it has a lot of stuff to it
Angel Turner
did you clean anything since your first thread joel?
Dominic Sullivan
>first for it will get flooded with cp in no time fixed
Eli Hughes
and still 1000/1000 fags not offering their connections
Adrian Davis
i am jealous of them too if i ever get it, i will put FTP on my NAS sitting at 24 TB and can make it a lot bigger
David Thomas
What FTP client do you guys use (with thumbnail support)?
Levi Rivera
what the..
Eli Reyes
9999-bits of autism
Alexander Myers
anyone find anything good? dont care if its porn or nsa secrets
Nolan Murphy
2kb keys are standard, 4k is paranoid and 10k causes clients to crash or time out due to the long handshake
Owen Ross
>weebftp Akira great movie
Benjamin Reed
Maybe that's a good thing, it forces people to upgrade their clients.
Jose Rogers
it will never make people upgrade their server to superior SFTP :^)
Isaiah Hall
weebftp is down?
Cameron Thomas
good point, why arent any of these, at least the official installgentoo server SFTP?
Joseph Stewart
just tried it, yes it is
$ ftp weebftp.org ftp: connect: Connection timed out
Dominic Barnes
Bananafish had problems setting permissions (specifically forbidding deletion) without taking away the other write rights, at least that's what the #ig ops told me.
Jeremiah Myers
Well fuck yeah OP! ftp://joelixny.ddns.net/temp/windows10.txt.1128
Carson Barnes
weebftp back up
Easton Jackson
I have an SFTP server, but it's only on a measly 150/15 connection
Carter Hill
tfw 500/10
Zachary Morgan
I got on the FTP without using an e-condom, did I get cyberAIDS now?
Nathan Barnes
no, you just get regular AIDS.
Christian Ramirez
I already have regular AIDS, does that mean I'm cured? Can't be double positive.
Jacob Taylor
no you just get double strength AIDS that's medication resistant
Charles Morris
no, it is addition pos+pos = pos sorry 'bout that
Daniel Morgan
now your AIDS has AIDS
Josiah Turner
Does anyone upload anything other than cheese pizza and malware on these things
Brandon Cruz
probably. I imagine that is how some of the collections have been grown. >People upload things they like and want others to see >Owner likes things and puts in read only folder >Other people just waste time at work organising things
Gabriel Peterson
funny, I was just going through a harddrive from years ago and came across that same image. I havnt seen it posted in ages. Also kind of funny how these kids dont think anything of "9 tb" while back then that much storage was almost unheard of.
Zachary Flores
No, its nothing but cp and malware, TIME TO BAN FTP
Ryan Wilson
well they do upload FLACs too, i got some nice vinyl rip of vivaldi's 4 seasons, thanks to whoever uploaded that, and plastic beach by the gorrillaz
Dylan Stewart
I have to explain this like twice a week: Deleting means overwriting something. You don't remove bytes from the disk when you delete it, you change them (write operations).
Also the operating of these things is really a fulltime job with all the russians and shitters trying to serve malware from your stuff. Running botnet virtual operating systems on your FTP and shit.
I set up a cron job to purge any of like... 50+ windows executable formats on my ftp, shit took forever to pull together lol
Brayden Thompson
>vinyl rip of vivaldi's 4 seasons I need that
Caleb Hughes
...
Julian Walker
This seems like a really nice idea but I cant tell what worthwhile files there are to download or what needs to be uploaded or what I can't just get from other sources
Colton Wilson
just take what seems good and then try it out
Gabriel Diaz
Uploaded my anime collection at ftp://joelixny.ddns.net/Anime%20(Chinese%20Cartoons)/
Christopher Lee
It makes me realize how old this pic is, that I have more than 9tb in my desktop computer alone.
Aiden Lopez
that and "getting into mordor" memes have been pretty much forgotten
Noah Cruz
um you guys realize there's illegal copies of movies and software on here right? Better delete that before I report it.
Christopher Hall
dude, wheres the vivaldi rip? I looked through all four servers adn didnt find it.
Austin James
LIke I said earlier, I saw that in a drive I havnt touch in many years not too long ago, noones posted it since. At the time this was made 9tb was unheard of. It was literally google tier storage.
Ethan Garcia
yea, i know, i've seen it floating around for a long time iirc my biggest drive when i first saw it was 80G
Andrew Bell
Anybody else can't connect to any of em?
I was in the gentoo ftp for a second but i only got an image.
Kayden Adams
Ive still got a stack of 10, 20, and 60 gb maxtors and seagates. My main drive is sata II.
Aiden Martinez
What's your oldest and highest capacity drive? I've got 80GB Maxtor from 2000.
Tyler Hill
now there's a pic I haven't seen in years
Connor Parker
oldest and highest capacity are conflicting. Id have to look at the oldest ones. My highest capacity would be some 2tbs from about 2010. Im about to replace all of my drives. Im going with 4 tb wds for storage and ssds for my os and frequently used files. I've been purging and compressing data for the last week.
Luke Morales
...
Juan Torres
Basically, what I meant was what's the oldest drive you have with a shocking capacity for the time (take, for example, the 80GB/2000 drive I mentioned.)
Aaron Parker
...
Alexander Reyes
Why does that idiot have so many hard drives? They make 9TB drives now...
Carter Martin
oh, it was all just pleb shit imo. When I was a kid I was told "that has a 20 gb harddrive, youll never fill it up" Now a single movie would be too much for it.
Users don't have delete or overwrite access to any files, so moving things to read only isn't needed. Also I'm the only one organizing shit so it goes slow. People have volunteered to help me organize but once they realize the way I'm willing to get their help doesn't give them delete/overwrite access to the files they've all magically lost interest.
A bunch of cool shit has been uploaded, and no cheese pizza that I've seen. Someone has been uploading the good ol' Photo.scr to a lot of directories, but I delete them all routinely.
Julian Flores
So in what way were you wanting help? Also can you not whitelist IPs to have modify access?
Nicholas Cox
>posting the installgentoo access publicly retard
Jaxson Scott
Dat Photo.scr and the info.zip are ftp bane. I don't even mind people setting up crazy network filesystems. Still delete their shit, but they're a tad more clever.
Samuel Lee
>Photo.scr and the info.zip
explain plese
Cooper Walker
They're executable files that aren't .exe
Windows runs a lot of things through arbitrary executing things, zip files have like an autorun tier thing in them, screensavers are executed to do random shit, there's a million of them.
Anyway the russians host their malware anywhere they can so they acn bypass blacklists.
Elijah King
I told them to write bash scripts with mv commands and I'd look over them and run them. I could give people overwrite access, but I'd have to trust them. All it takes is 1 fag to act nice on the IRC channel for a week and offer to help and then delete everything, so unless some of the people I trust are willing to help, no one gets access.
They're not that bad, just mildly annoying.
I've encountered Photo.scr, it's a malware that's older than some people here.
Chase Butler
interesting, thanks
Austin Peterson
>write bash scripts with mv commands ah, about what i thought might help out tomorrow afternoon then if i can get my embedded project working
Jayden Phillips
You're wrong though. You can get two separate strains of it. This complicates things when two infected people want to have a relationship.
Julian Bennett
>not having a room in your house dedicated to a petabyte >not having a million gigabytes of storage available
Brody Rogers
Thanks, help is appreciated. Feel free to join the IRC channels
Austin Edwards
Sorry ganye
Chase Reyes
>all that babyfur shit
Robert Thompson
some fag called dan uploaded it all.
Gabriel Gutierrez
this picture is a beautiful thing
I guess when you go for obnoxious builds you really just have to carpenter your own case
Jackson Butler
Sorry, Neb come back!
Colton Thompson
>tfw you couldn't reply in time for Neb
Luis Reed
We miss you Neb ;-;
Brody Morris
???
Caleb Evans
Media suffered a traumatic accident and is down for repairs.
Austin Turner
Also, you got the domain wrong, it's ftp://joelixny.ddns.net Try with that.
Isaac Rivera
Maybe you can help because /spg/ is basically circlejerking over flagships and nobody knows anything. > install FTP Server (Free) from fdroid > grant permission to use WiFi through AFWall+ > connect to WiFi > start server > says the server is running at ftp://192.168.178.21:2121 (so only visible in local network?) > connect PC to WiFi > enter ftp address in browser URL bar > works fine > try $ ftp ftp://192.168.178.21:2121 and various combinations with or without "ftp://" and the port > get error
I don't want to use my browser, I like ftp via CLI. How do I fix this?
Jonathan Harris
>How do I fix this? maybe remove the ftp:// prefix when using dedicated FTP client?
Caleb Stewart
Read my post. I tried that. It didn't work.
Liam Martinez
It should be visible outside your network unless your router is blocking. Try lftp, better client. Also, try starting ftp and using the connect command.
Logan Wright
well shit, disregard my post then.
Asher Smith
If you join the IRC channel I can help you better.
Asher Scott
Sounds like either A) you're asking for a bullshit resource or B) you have dns issues
Hell even your random file explorer handles FTP natively (not sftp) just use that to debug.
Brandon Jackson
also fix your fucking lan ips, that's fucking disgusting.
Ian Turner
Shouldn't make a difference if it's visible outside my LAN if both PC and phone are connected to it, aye? I'll try that and report back when I get home. > connect command Done that, same error.
I agree. It was mom's Wifi, set up by dad like 10 years ago. Nobody knows the router password and it just werks so I didn't bother fixing it before.
Luis Watson
yeah, it shouldn't. Just letting you know. Also, any reason you're running the server on your phone? Do you hate yourself?
Ryan Taylor
it has a default user/password, you have to enter that in ftp.
Just wanted to try using something other than MTP to move files between phone and computer.
I'll try that as well. I was under the impression that ftp just queries for the username if none is supplied though, at least it does that when accessing the uni FTP server or
Tyler Powell
Why not just put the server on your computer like a normal person? Also sshfs would have been better.
Leo Bell
a) If I want to move files between the phone and a different device, it also needs to have an FTP server installed. b) I prefer typing on a physical keyboard so it makes sense to run the client on the PC. It's not like the FTP server is running all the time, I literally only switch it on when I want to move files. > sshfs I haven't yet looked into how to set it up.
Alexander Hernandez
>a) If I want to move files between the phone and a different device, it also needs to have an FTP server installed. Or you could transfer it to the machine with the server and then to any other machine. >b) I prefer typing on a physical keyboard so it makes sense to run the client on the PC. You can just ssh into your phone and do it.
>I haven't yet looked into how to set it up. $ sshfs IP /mount/dir rocket surgery.
Caleb Wilson
>Or you could transfer it to the machine with the server and then to any other machine. Adds an unneccessary extra step, plus I don't have my PC with me when I'm at a friend's house and just want to copy some shit to / from his PC. Yes I could do it over the internet but then the FTP server would have to be running all the time (insecure and requires PC to be running all the time, which I don't want). >You can just ssh into your phone and do it. Okay, hypothetical scenario. I'm at uni, working on a lab report with a friend and he needs a photo I took with my phone. I could just turn on the FTP server on the phone, connect via friend's pc over LAN and copy the file. Or I could > leave my pc running at home > set up the FTP server to be accessible from outside the LAN > leave the FTP server running for anyone to fuck with > fire up SSH on friend's pc > connect to phone via SSH > connect to FTP server from phone through SSH > copy file from phone to pc via FTP > connect to FTP server from friend's PC > copy the file Now tell me, which would you rather do?
> sshfs IP /mount/dir That's what I do on the client, yes. Don't I need to set up permissions and the server first though? Or do I quite literally just > friend@friend'sPC:~$ sshfs global.IP.home.PC/home/user/Videos/furry_porn /mount/sshfs_directory and that's it?
Michael Perry
alright, you know what you're doing with your own setup best.
>That's what I do on the client, yes. Don't I need to set up permissions and the server first though? Or do I quite literally just No, that's the beauty of sshfs, no configuration. Only thing the server needs is to be running a ssh server. And seeing as you're running linux you must already have setup, else you've been missing out huge time buddy.
From sshfs's man page: sshfs [user@]host:[dir] mountpoint [options]
Joseph Perez
So that'd be friend@friend'sPC:~$ sshfs you@yourIP:/home/user/Videos/furry_porn /mount/sshfs_directory
Liam Robinson
>Only thing the server needs is to be running a ssh server. That's the bit I don't know about yet. How do I set this up? >you've been missing out huge time Seems like it, I only made the switch 6 months ago and wanted to get accustomed to local terminal work before fucking around with networking.
Lucas Brooks
Well ssh is one of the most useful shit ever boi You been liking your terminal? comfy isn't it? Now imagine in that same terminal you can be at any computer's terminal you own. You just type ssh ip and through the magic of Hollywood you're now at your other computer. Fucking magic.
Any computer running linux will likely have a ssh server running by default. For windows and your phone you'll likely have to install something but it shouldn't be too hard. OSX has ssh, I'm not sure if it runs by default though.
John Collins
First time here, is there anything interesting in your read only files? I just see porn and boring videos
Colton Morales
Welcome to the internet
Aaron Gomez
Watch chinese cartoons or read some ebooks
Easton Fisher
>he thinks that pirating movies and software is equivalent to cp
Landon Long
active sftp or fuck off also there's an ftp server on 4+Cred Forums's cyber board with cool stuff.
Gavin Hernandez
its actually zero, with one of rest, you illiterate dumbfuck
Carter Martin
Is there interest for German Ebooks and music from Neil Young, David Bowie etc.?
Dylan Roberts
yes user please upload
also I need blade runner the movie
Noah Campbell
Oh hey you're back. Physics Bro here. I'll be on the IRC later tonight.
Joseph Morgan
FTPS is just SFTP without all the protocol bloat
Evan Flores
FTP is literally theft
Owen Brooks
Plaintext passwords.
I mean passwords themselves are shit so fuck security on the whole for public services. Oops someone deleted /, fuck it.
James Sanchez
Either I'm fucking retarded but I can't find shit about how to set up an ssh server on ubuntu. I installed ssh and sshfs and tried to connect using ConnectBot on my phone but shit's just not working. Trying to connect to PC via ConnectBot: >Connecting to (local IP):22 via ssh >Connection Lost >failed to connect to (local IP) (port 22): connect >failed: ECONNREFUSED (Connection refused) >connect failed: ECONNREFUSED (Connection refused) Trying to connect to phone (TP Server (Free) from f-droid) via terminal: ftp (local IP) Used to get > Name / Service unknown until I allowed the Android kernel to access WiFi and > connection refused until something else (??) happened and now it's > Connection timed out
Jace Morgan
Update: Allowing ALL apps to use wifi leads to >Connection Refused REEE
Nicholas Thomas
Is there any command that will make a plot of a ftp file system?
Lucas Jenkins
anonymous has no password and FTPS doesn't have to be optional, moot point
Nathaniel Walker
where is the ceepee
Robert Brooks
There's no read only files right now, as they were in a freak accident.
I think you might have gotten lost on the Internet, friend. I know! It's large and confusing and scary! Don't worry, we're here to help. I think this website might be more of your liking: nick.com/ Enjoy!
Fuck, you're right, someone might realize that the secret login is anonymous and start doing terrible shit like uploading content.
None so far
Caleb Stewart
saving for later. ill open up my server when i get home
Adrian Gomez
That's the kind of shit why you don't run servers on your phone, but you do you
Jason Martin
Hey, I actually haven't been making threads lately but the other users have been wanting them so much they've taken matters into their own hands. Feel free to get on the IRC whenever you want. I might be asleep later tonight though.
Henry Jackson
fuk u cute right
Jace Stewart
Yeah yeah I get it. But the other way around (phone=client, pc=server) doesn't work either.
Lincoln Young
I'm trying to make a .txt of a `find .` for the joelixny server.
It sure is taking long, but I'll put it when it's done.
Liam Barnes
>downloading at 20kb/s whats the point of this
Dominic Foster
just enough for the babyfur pics
Blake Clark
for what purpose?
Andrew Carter
Well how are you supposed to find anything without a file index?
Cameron Rivera
>thumbnail support This is a good question
Daniel Howard
you could ask the owner to just make one
Luke Diaz
Is that enough bits?
Jaxon Sanders
I could. It would be sensible.
Matthew Davis
This is the best shitpost in the thread.
Hudson Ward
who makes these lain gifs? some are really nicely done.
