The perks of using a nonstandard browser

Same goes for all software, really. Obscurity is security, despite what they tell you.

I don't get it

you just got a rootkit, kid. enjoy becoming one with the botnet

You're telling me that I'm getting a rootkit by visiting that page?

Damn. Should I call 1-800-875-302 and ask them for help?

Yes and record the call for us

Lewis Tech

So am I infected now? Do I have to wipe my shit?

Is this a joke?

No, just a page that frequently annoys you and is hard to close. You should be fine, although I do recommend clearing up some temporary internet files and your browser's cache just to be safe.

So this is some sort of joke? It doesn't really lock your browser or anything

>Do I have to wipe my shit?
hahah you clicked the link!? how stupid are you?

welcome to the botnet user

It should be enough to scare some normies, 12 year olds or grandmas into calling the number...

A joke? Probably, but I'm pretty sure this was made to scam non tech-literate people

Lock your browser? Obviously not, just close your browser window and you'll be fine. It does this annoying thing where it CONSTANTLY requests to be in full screen so what I did was to open task manager and kill it from there.

That's the problem with Cred Forums humor. You can never tell if people are trolling you or serious.

Just do Ctrl + W. No need to close entire browser.

I just pressed ctrl-w

>task manager

Did it actually load something?

No it isn't, that's the worst form of security

Forgot about that, ayyy

Yeah it loaded the page in the screenshot. Looks almost real. 4/10 for effort.

see that's the thing with being stupid. seriously user, backup and wipe your shit,

yes it really did. It loads ransomware into memory

how are you people this stupid? back up your shit now, it's probably spread to external drives at this point.

yeah it tried to jailbreak my windows installation but luckily i was running google ultron at that time and it immediately blocked the installation

...

I just held ESC

is that links2?

It's too late for me, it already corrupted my waifu folder.

The Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display doesn't have this problem.

>doesn't detect what browser you are using and assumes you're on chrome
>BIG FUCKING "you're entering fullscreen, press ESC to exit" message when they try to do their magic
>simply closing all messages in your way and closing your tab does the job
>even through mouse interaction
it's shit, pajeet. I've seen scam sites where I actually had to install noscript to get out of their shit because the tab couldn't be closed while the script was running and it set itself as the startpage.

And what does that achieve?

hahah funny meme guys
but seriously that link contains malware wipe your shit

exits full screen and lets you click the tab away

...

Ah, on my end it didn't even go fullscreen

outdated webkits are actually a huge security hole.

Fuck you op my phone is now infected

You have to be 18+ to use this forum.

>webkits
Presumably he's running lynx without javascript. I don't see how there's any "webkit insecurity" possible there.

Can confirm, worked as tech at Staples, had people calling and coming in at least three times every day (in a small town) because of these popups.

i'm on linux

Those tabs aren't funny.

>not a single mention of men's dicks or furry porn

Ikr

I like how they are assuming their target audience uses Chrome and Windows 10
And the visible Report Support Scam link, apparently the Pajeets "calling from Windows" are enough of a nuisance to be noticed.

kill yourself

Has anyone here ever tried calling the number?

omg guys dont click the link it creates mustard gas

youtube tech support scam

Yes it does.
