My Chrome just started randomly opening ads. I have no idea how I got infected, but it happened. I've tried Malwarebytes (didn't find anything) & CCleaner, neither did anything. Gonna run MSE (if it ever updates) and update Windows security settings (I guess).

I have mongolian children's cartoons downloaded onto a USB device which I am playing back on a Sony Blu Ray (BDP-S3500 model), and the show will get about 1:29 in playback and then immediately cut to the beginning of the video and will continuously do this.

The video is the 1080p bluray rip of Zeta Gundam. On my computer, the file will play just fine. I notice that the player bar has little breaks in between segments (like the intro is segmented from the first half before a commercial break, which is segmented from the second half...) like chapters in an actual dvd.

My bluray player is able to at least display the format, but instead of starting from the very beginning of the episode (where the title plays), it immediately goes right into the 1st half of the show. And it'll play for about 1:29 and just jump right back to the beginning.

My problem is both this, and my inability to properly explain my dilemma so that I can just google the fucking issue myself.

If the file didn't play at all then I'd just say "well shit, it's unsupported". But the file does play, but not without this weird issue.

Hitting the power button caused a small click in the PSU then nothing. Unplugged and replugged all the connections but that was no help. Just use the windows integrated backup tool. Just go to the backup and restore center of Windows and it'll let you choose what drive you wish to backup and where. The C drive is usually selected by default.

When I use the open source Nvidia driver, GNOME performs like garbage but there's no screen tearing. When I use the proprietary driver everything is quick, but it tears no matter what I do. I think this window has something to do with it, because on my other PC with a 770 shows the correct info on this page. I'm using a 940MX on a Thinkpad T460p, if that helps.

I need to move / from one partition (ext4) to another (switching to btrfs). They are allocated and I know it should be easy to move them but I REALLY don't want to fuck anything up so could anyone here direct me exactly what I need to do to
1) copy files over
2) make linux boot into the new partition
3) keep my /home partition intact

For some reason I forgot Windows 7 has its own backup utility by default. Alright then.

I find that pretty much everything can be made to work on W7 with the proper compatibility settings. Just W8 and above fucks some things up because DirectDraw support got axed.

Ehhh, I've played a VN that would crash no matter what the fuck I did on Windows 7, but ran fine in a Windows XP VM.
But that's kind of the thing about WINE, too. DirectDraw is supported, and it can be made to simulate any version of Windows you desire based on the program you're running at the time.

WINE has a lot of trouble with more recent software that requires newer features (DX10 and up, for example), but it's golden for older software.

It was translated for PS3 with the porn stripped out but later some Russian hackers ported it back to PC, and have slowly been translating the scenes that weren't in the PS3 release, I think they have about 75% of them done now, so you can play most of them and the rest of the game translated with that patch.

Most of them work in W10, W7 is a backup for the few older stuff that do not.

Going through my MSINFO's System Drivers list and noticed these two odd entries that begin with question marks in their path. One (gdrv.sys) is for Gigabyte Tools, which I have installed for my Gigabyte motherboard, but the driver doesn't seem to be started. Is there a reason that might be? I don't actually ever run the program, but it's installed for when I need to do BIOS updates. Would running the program start the driver?

The other (rtcore64.sys) appears to be for MSI Afterburner, which I run at startup.
