What's your current OS and why?

How exactly do Windows 7 and 8.1 differ from Windows 10? This is yet another largely unfounded claim from the Microsoft fanboys. DirectX 12? There are still no games which are exclusive to this graphics API (as of July 2016). 99% of the games which are being published at the moment will be DirectX 9/11 games, so your Windows 7/8.1 system will perfectly run them. Unfortunately some new games will require Windows 10 but those are Microsoft sponsored titles created to push Windows 10. Edit: Quantum Break was released on Steam on 08.10.2016 and now it only requires Windows 7/D3D11. There's a slight chance that Vulkan will become more popular but so far that hasn't been the case. Vulkan is supported on all modern operating systems.

Desktop: Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise because I'm waiting for Server 2016 to be released so I can upgrade to that.
Laptop: Windows 7 Ultimate because it's the last good Windows. Don't really know what I'll do once it stops receiving security updates. Certain drivers for it are Windows-only and I've tried Ubuntu with no success.

As much shit as OSX gets it is a solid operating system, especially when used on a Macbook Pro. The touchpad and gesture control is literally unbeatable. Once you get used to the environment it is honestly really fucking effective to use.

Full screen all your open windows, three finger swipe up to see where they all are, reorder by dragging if necessary and then just three finger swipe left and right to navigate between them all. Also added an app which registers three finger touch as a middle click for opening new tabs and closing tabs in chrome.

For something that is predominantly used for browsing the web, consuming media, listening to music, editing documents, light programming it caters to my every need plus more.

Don't get me wrong, the price tag is still way too fucking steep, I feel like they cap the hardware due to any decent use of the chip causes fans to ramp up to 89285938543rpm and drain the battery fast as fuck; but for general laptop use that's not really a common situation.
