Tfw fell for the ogg meme

tfw fell for the ogg meme.

tfw converted all my music to a format that would please Stallman.

tfw it now sounds worse and Stallman doesn't even care to use ogg himself anymore.

How didnyou convert

I bought adobe audition.

>Cred Forums - Technology

Are you implying Cred Forums would be a more fitting place to discuss codecs than Cred Forums? I'm baffled.

I'm commenting on the irony of how clueless people on Cred Forums are about technology

You fucked up, OP.

use FLAC on your computer
use OGG for your phone/rockbox device

That's what I do, Foobar makes it super easy to convert tracks to OGG

>use OGG
no, use the original codec(usually MP3) or FLAC, since MP3->flac is lossless
whereas MP3->OGG(or any other lossy codec) decreases audio quality, regardless of how good your encoder is)

opus master race

ogg proved to be a classic meme.

Don't you mean FLAC ---> MP3? Converting MP3s to FLACs seems to be missing the point.

you're right, it is kinda pointless.
but it's the only conversion that doesn't lose quality though.

what is going on here

But if I'm ripping to FLAC, I'm ripping from an original source. The only MP3 source I'd consider ripping to FLAC would maybe be 320 CBR.

I convert FLAC->Opus for my phone

bite me faggot

How does Opus compare to MP3? And what would an equivalent in Opus be to 192 VBR?

>How does Opus compare to MP3?
Pic related

>And what would an equivalent in Opus be to 192 VBR?
Probably something in the 64kbps - 96 kbps range.

I use 96 kbps on my phone because it's just about transparent enough while also allowing me to fit my entire collection on a 128 GB microSD card.

>listening to some senile old autistic hippster
kek'd
suits you well OP

Same transparency as mp3 v0 with 128kbps vbr and half the file size.

FLAC

But why would you make that conversion in the first place? You don't gain anything, you're just bloating the file size.

The last patent for mp3 expires in 2017.

We have come a long way.
