My sdd failed. farewell fap material i'll never get back

my sdd failed. farewell fap material i'll never get back.

i am never buying a sdd ever again. i'll just buy a processor to make up for a slow hdd drive. i should done that from the start

should have*

not buying based seagate

you fucked up

>implying a better processor will increase disk i/o

good luck

i bet that will fail 3 or 4 years from now. that's how long mine lasted.

>Not having a NAS with over 24TB of anime porn in RAID that backs itself up every day and is attached to its own battery to prevent failures from power loss

You gotta plan ahead motherfucker

already powered on for over 3000days
so its lasted 8.5 years already, and it was refurbished when it was given to me 7 years ago

>Bought a 256GB SSD three years ago for $150
>Bought a 512GB SSD last week for $130
>The old one didn't even have any reallocated sectors, I just wanted more space
What are you, poor? Just buy a new one when the old one is on its last legs.

>this

i actually want it to die since lol 1.5gbps and 200gig but its been fucking reliable as hell

its just for my os i have other drives for storage etc that are quicker

two years it started to click like a fucking bomb every 3 seconds but that stopped and its been fine since

i'll just buy a kingstonn sdd for 40 dollars

>paying over 100 dollars for a ssd that will die in 3 or 4 years

no thank you

Kingstons are the worst to get

then i would rather just get 4 tb harddrive

hdd*

>using SSD as anything other than OS/cache/games drive

>tfw in my country the price of a 128gb SDD is pretty much the same as a 256gb one in America

Life is hard. Fucking EU man, why is our tech so god damn fucking expensive?

At least there's Kingdian I suppose.

>poor

There is no reason in current year not to buy 2 hdd at a time and run a nightly rsync cronjob

Enjoy having having half the speed a few writes later.

Well. Unless you have like 100 bucks to spare.
My graphics card costs that much alone.

>tfw my HDD is so close to getting fucked
>tfw backing up everything I can to old 100-200 gb HDD's
It's scary living on the edge.

1TB WD Blues are $40 USD

Buying WD is like buying a suicide ticket.

Also, can you back up a 2-4 gb drive with a 1gb one?

>storing 8TBs of chinese girl cartoons on PCIe SSDs so you can watch them at a blazing 4MBps

Where do you even live? It's pretty much the same in every EU country I've visited, well the 3 of them. Between $54-$74 for 120GB and $75-$100 for 250GB.

Hahaha I know right user

>saving videos on a SSD

also, you should always have multiple back ups. I got like 3 external HDDs with my porn.

>Buying WD is like buying a suicide ticket.
You have confused New Seagate ™ with WD.
This is a 1TB drive so you can back up 250 4GB drives.

I got a black WD that I bought in Black Friday. It's noisy as fuck but my shit loads fast enough.

how much of a difference would I notice with a SDD? I take around 6 secs to boot.

Tbh WD is the only HDD brand which has never failed me.

>i'll just buy a processor to make up for a slow hdd drive.

Wait, you didn't have a processor before? No wonder your ssd failed.

Oh I've had every brand fail on me. Including WD and Seagate. I've just had 3 out of 4 Seagate drives die on me within 2 years and one within 2 months. I wont buy from them again for awhile. I have a Samsung 950 and 4 4TB HGST NAS currently.

>Not having a NAS with over 24TB of anime porn
kys nigger

You don't use an SSD for storage.

keep two harddives, a regular hdd for data storage and personal files mounted as /home, and a SSD to install the operating system on

My anime plays at 144hz with PCIe SSD.

>Cred Forums now calls them 'SDD's'

Perhaps you were being trolled.

SDD for programs
HDD for storage

Are you retarded or just pretending to know shit about computer?

why did you store your fap material in an ssd? you rich faggot

> No backup
> Blames component

Yeah, normally I would say "I hope you learnt your lesson!" but I'm pretty sure you have no clue what's going on.

>Solid disk drives

exactly how much 48G content did you lose?

I think normies should avoid SSD's

I have an old Intel 320 SSD in my laptop, and its health is still excellent

I bought my uncle an even better Intel SSD, and after 6 months of usage, the Intel tool reported 60% health

There's a state at which the drive is solid hence the name solid state drive.

How do I know if I'm a normie?

What do you mean by "failed"?
Did it turn read-only so you can't boot from it?
Connect it as a non-system drive and copy all your stuff from it. Retard.
Also stop buying consumershit disks like mx100, faggot

I guess if you don't know, or care to know, how your computer works and how to use it properly, then you're just a normie user

Still have this gem Cred Forums was all over way back.
As it is 60gb only i'm powering my NAS with it now.
On my main PC i have a Samsung Evo 840 250gb bough some time ago for win7 and a newer 850 evo 250gb for Linux.
My ShieldTV recently got a 850 evo 500gb.

Had an HDD (WD) crash already, a SG barracuda 640gb is starting to die (used as external HDD occasionly)
SSDs never failed me up to this date.

>not streaming video and audio from the web into your favorite software

>not wanting quality

>disk

SDD's = Sexually Dysfuntional Drives.

You boys are dumb.

There's this new thing called backup. I really feel you could make use of it.

>i don't make backups of important data
>it's my hardwares fault

I bet this was really funny in your head

Intel 730 reporting 99% health after 18 months of use. Maybe your uncle likes to defrag his ssd nightly.

What a coincidence! My 1tb HDD failed after less than a year of use. Never buying HDDs again.
>cool anecdote, bro

that's the same sdd I have

crucial
you brought this upon yourself
shoulda gotten a samshit one, 5 years going strong here

I have an OCZ. 6 years strong.

Hahahahaha

My 850pro is one year old.
9 years left on warranty. And a couple of hundred Peta bytes of writes left before it dies.

my crucial ssd has been fucking up to after that windows update

You should have kept your documents on a separate disk in the first place. An SSD is for applications and operating systems.

Any competent psychiatrist would have diagnosed you with a severe disorder halfway through that sentence.

Do you understand how animation works?

It does not play at 144 Mhz.

Frame by frame animation uses 8 to 24 drawings per second depending on the importance of the action. Prerendered 3D animation usually does not go faster than 30 fps.

>blaming SSD for failure

you do know that physical disks fail too, user. Not to mention Crucial is shit for SSDs. I've had one and their read/writer is slow af and they have firmware issues. \

P.S. Fast CPU won't combat slow HDD. Trust me on this, Gf's PC got a 6600K with standard Caviar Blue and it's noticeably slower than my 4690K and Samsung 850 Pro

also, you can use recuva to get some of your files back

are not SSDs soft-fail like they just stop writing?
You can always read from it (except if you leave it for 6 months unplugged)?

Unless you rub its connectors/circuits all over your greasy skin of course

Some one forgot to 3-2-1 back-up

I got tranny webms if you need em bro

>It does not play at 144 Mhz.
>144 Mhz.
>Mhz.

You fucking idiot.

Running five botnets simultaneously can really wear down your hardware.

Why is it dieing so fast. Is it mainly due to caching?

I made a typo. Sue me. My point is still relevant and user is still retarded for thinking his meme monitor makes a difference.

If your SSD is dying fast then chances are you got a faulty one or some terrible cheap product. Even consumer SSDs can handle several hundreds of TBs of writes.

It's okay, the human eye can't see above 28 MHz anyway

My 850 Evo is going strong. Bought it yesterday. Just keep your PC clean, and idk, PUT YOUR FUCKING MEDIA FILES ON AN HDD AND PROGRAMS ONLY ON YOUR SSD.

Retard

Look at .

Normal brand name SSDs, such as Kingstron, Silicon power, or etc. You either got a cheap SSD, or you've purposely done damage/been writing heavily to it with at least 1TB a second. I have to call bullshit really because they'd have warned you. Not to mention Sata buses can be overclocked but that causes a risk for bit/byte coruption which sometimes not even ECC memory can solve.
Your SSD is for OPERATING SYSTEM and PROGRAMS. Frankly, keep your Fap material on an HDD or a readily useable USB Drive.
Like what said.

Seriously, either get the shit with a good name, or get learned.

>SATA 1.5Gbps

Why? Serious question

what the fuck is a sdd?

Recently got a 850 evo and I've noticed I get around 3-4 GBs written almost every day. I don't do any image processing or stuff like that, is this normal?

>w-what, these weird people are posting ANIME on this anonymous imageboard meant for chinese cartoons? Gross!

Hiro should just auto-ban phone posters and people who have Facebook in their history

did you actually mean to reply to ?

I defrag my 850pro just for shits and giggles. its that fucking good.

Not that guy, but I watch a lot of Youtube videos which can easily write 300gb+ on your disk a month. I also delete and add games to it all the time which is another ~200-300gb a month.

Stuff is being written to your SSD all the time if it's your main/OS drive. That's another 100-150gb a month.

Overall, that's ~9TB a year from just regular usage. Expect to write at least double that amount if you do video/audio work.

>Using an SSD for mass storage
>Not using it for something that actually makes use of faster read/write speeds and using normal HDDs for porn storage.
Honestly i'm not surprised your technology is failing.

I also forgot about just simply browsing the internet, opening pictures and random videos. It adds up, especially if you use your desktop ~10+ hours a day like I do.

OP is a stupid motherfucker for not backing p his data,

Electronics die. If you are too slack to have physical backup use a cloud solution, but don't come cying about your own mistakes.

If you had a based Thinkpad you could have a spare drive in an Ultrabay or a dock with an Ultrabay. Use that for backup after loading an OS on it and boot from either drive to rescue either drive.

>implying all the anime porn in the world would take up more than 5 tbs

I didn't know I wasn't supposed to store 5 terabytes on the SSD , no one told me that , they don't warn you at the store , nothing. 5 terabytes lost

Dude what?

So are SSDs getting less reliable?

The wealthy don't waste money on being stupid, user.

don't you mean hhd?

please buy spinning rust hhd love you long time you so sexy my name pajeet

>fucking around and getting a triple double
My nigga. Checked.

Does no one here use network back-ups and external back-ups?
You only have yourselves to blame when your SDDs and HHDs shit the bed.

>my car failed but I'll just buy better shoes, which is what I should have done from the start

should have RAIDed them, fagget

>didnt RAID-1 or RAID-10 his SSDs
>calls others poor

Meanwhile my ssd has 1328 days and 2 hours on time and its still going strong :^]

>Taking the bait

>have 120gb sandisk SSD in my desktop for 6 years, 3 of which it served as the os drive, now it has games I play but not frequently
>have 256gb Crucial SSD as my os and primary use drive
>porn and music on 500gb WD Blue which is almost 8 years old now

if you get reputable brands you shouldn't ever have an issue with SSDs

>trusting travel to shoes
>use your feet , they can heal unlike shoes that just breakdown over a few years.

>as go back to /n/

>hey Cred Forums my component failed on me and I made zero backups of my data! Fuck this shit, I'm just going to buy older technology then

You're retarded OP. On multiple counts. First for not making a backup of what you considered important. Second for thinking just because it's an SSD that it would last forever. And third because rather than thinking "hmm lemme see what caused it to fail" you're just jumping ship and running back to a technology with A., More moving parts and risk of failure, and B. Is slower in every single regard.

I have that same crucial MX100 ssd in my thinkpad and it's still running fine. Crucial says that drive is good up to 72TB of written data before the risk of becoming read only.

Maybe you just got a bum ssd. My HGST 4TB drives came out of the box and within 2 days each had close to 200 reallocated sectors. Mech disks aren't infallible either

I've written close to 900TB on my 480GB OCZ Vertex 460 and it's still going fine. This is the pre-Toshiba OCZ, so it's "bound to fail", and yet it's still doing fine.

>hurrrdurrr I lost data cus ssd
>Hurrdurr I didn't back my shit up

kys yourself to peaces you fucking retard

how long would a 150gb SSD last if I use it that much? I ordered a 850 EVO to use for the OS and a couple of programs.

Their SSDs are really bad compared to everything else.
Nobody knows why, just shit quality.

They are better than PNY and chink brands but for the same price you can get something from ADATA, Sandisk or Crucial.

>HGST
And these are one of the best.

>buys entry level SSD
>blames SSD in general
ayy

>tfw bought 128gb ssd 3-4 years ago for 100 cad
>tfw bought 512gb ssd 6-10months ago for 143+tax

Absolutely never going back to hdd. Ssd is literally the best upgrade you can give your pc if you don't have one yet.

>MUH BACKBLAZE
Stop posting right now. Seriously. You're retarded. You don't even know what their data shows if you take it seriously.
