This post is nothing but proof of Cred Forums's superiority. Reddit is worse simply because of the voting system. People shouldn't be given a system to hide things they don't like from anyone who doesn't decide to dig.

In what way? You're almost bound to meet a person with an opposing position on any Cred Forums board (minus the porn ones, but they really aren't for discussion). That's probably what makes Cred Forums so addictive and interesting: you don't know what the other person you're talking to thought beforehand (because they have no history), but they're opposing view is bound to give you some insight as to why you have your opinion (if you have some rationality). Threads very rarely end up being echo chambers, again unless it's in one of the porn boards (which clearly are there just to share porn). You either need to lurk more or fuck off.

Most of Cred Forums is an alt-right echo chamber at this point. Any views opposing the alt-right are met with racism or shitposting.

The problem is the upvote/downvote system that serves only to encourage hive mind and groupthink.

On Cred Forums, stupid retarded ideas are laughed at, but at they're not buried, hidden, or removed. That means more ideas are discussed.

The other major downside of reddit is overzealous mods on a fucking power trip. They will enforce their worldview on you using arbitrary criteria. You have big subreddits censoring posts criticizing Islam or Hillary Clinton, for example.

This is exactly why Cred Forums will remain the same. I understand that there are no ''rules'' here and that anything goes, but has it ever worked in a positive way? Frog images, ad hominem attacks, racial slurs are considered valid arguments here and no one's really stopping people from doing that. That's why this site will always be the hell hole of the internet. The only board still worth checking out is Cred Forums, but the quality of it has definitely dimished over the years.

If Cred Forums would stay in Cred Forums, a lot of these issues could be easily mitigated. I agree, though, I don't come to Cred Forums for any actual discussion because it's all shitposting or something close to it.

I dare say that on Cred Forums you can discuss even better than in real life (given both parties actually want to discuss, but I'll get to that later). With the anonymity Cred Forums offers you have the freedom to say anything you wish without other persons looking down on you as a person for thinking that. You're just another anonymous post making a point, with no social pressure to say the thing that is "correct" in that situation. Not only that, but the anonymity also forces you to back up your claims, since you can't just say "hey I studied for this trust me", you're just an anonymous post, back up your claims.

On the flip side, anonymous posts can also just be shitposts because every voice is heard here (given there is a little censorship, but let's not mention that for the sake of the argument since it doesn't actually matter that much with archives). Nothing stops people from posting garbage. The trick is to spot those people and ignore them... Or, you know, shitpost harder, that can be fun too.
