What text editors does Cred Forums use?
Good Text Editors?
Atom
Vim
Faggot
Yup,really good one and has lots of extensions
Visual Studio Code
Atom
Faggot
Bloat
Emacs
sublime
Vim
Visual Studio code is shit don't use it.
Emacs with evil-mode is superior to both Vim and vanilla Emacs in every way.
Kakoune.
It's better than vim.
Nano.
How long would it take me to learn Vim hotkeys coming from vanilla Emacs? I use Emacs but my coworkers make fun of me, and I already use Spacemacs in Holy Mode so I might as well try out Vim keys.
Gimp
Vim friends.
h2 shift+home/end highlight
h2 alt+ up/down highlighted lines?
Emacs and mg

>I use Emacs but my coworkers make fun of me
Where the hell do you work?
Microsoft
Vim 90% of the time, but Visual Studio Code when I am editing TypeScript.
Sublime. I'm not autistic enough for vim, since I genuinely don't believe the statements that say it's actually faster to do things in.
>that say it's actually faster to do things in.
Once you have the muscle memory down for all your assorted plugins and scripts and stuff, it is.
Just has a mile-high learning curve.
Notepad
Edit.
More like Cuck-une. Great job using this shit
Emacs and Nano. Know the basics of Vim.
What the hell happens when you hit backspace in mg?
I work with Microsoft stack what else would I use other than VS
It removes the character to the left of the cursor?
You won't find your answer here. The only way to know the best text editor is to look into your heart user.
Notepad
Atom
0/10
vim for quick edits
emacs + spacemacs for serious dev
atom + proton for meme languages
Vim for simple text editing, IntelliJ for serious shit.
Emacs and nano. Would like to learn vim.
>Faggot
Is this really what Pajeets think?
Light table. Literally all you need for web dev
This.
This
microsoft word
Notepad++
>I use IDEs for coding, Cred Forums haters gonna hate
>Recommending Microshit software
>tfw to intelligent to use vim or emacs
what options do I have left
Emacs, occasionally NP++ on wangblows
vim
trying atom as an alternative on win7 for some things, there's a vim thingy package and an ex thing add-on
>Light table
looks interesting; too much damn choice 2016
...
>not using IDEOne on a chromebook
>falling for the local storage meme
>current year
wew lad, join the rest of us in the cloud when you're ready
Visual Studio :^)
Correct answer.
I actually really like Visual Studio.
Vim on Linux, Sublime on Windows
What's so great about it?
What's so bad about it?
>tfw too intelligent to exist.
DUUUUDE
Bluefish :^)
'blime
what are must have vim plugins?
There was something wrong with my package or terminal. Backspace would show "(a b c)" in the minibuffer (which was supposed to be the output of C-h C-h). It is working properly now. I kinda miss the syntax highlighting though.
ed
ex when I need the bloat.
Vim is pretty good on its own. There are a fuck ton of blogs where people talk about their vim environments.
Acme.
I know it seems autistic as fuck but honestly once you get used to it, it becomes so fucking comfy. I've always preferred minimally-complex and uniform stuff anyway.
Microsoft Word
Nano for quick edits
CLion or other IDE for big projects
Sublime up until recently (now vim) for small projects with python etc.
Should I remove NERDTree and use something like dirvish? I read some criticisms of NERDTree and I kind of agree. I don't use the tree much but I like seeing an overview of files in the directory at all times.
Who here doesn't know how to use gdb and only uses it when you get a seg fault and need to know where?
Just started using notepad++ today after using notepad for a month.
emacs, vim, or kys.
>Windows
Microsoft Word
vi ; not even vim
sometimes edit.com
sed, vim, and Libreoffice Writer.
>edit.com not edit.exe
>not edlin.com
Sublime. I know Vim and Emacs too.
intellij IDEA editor and vim are my favorites right now
>there are people in this thread unironically using something other than vim or emacs

>What's so great about it?
It's vim inspired. But it works a bit differently. You always have a selection of text and you can perform vim-like actions on the selection. To get the general idea, imagine as if vims visual mode was default. This enables some nice things. Instead of counting words you want to remove, you can simply press W do extend the selection to the desired word and press d to remove. You have visual feedback for that as well. Other features work similarly and they work together really well.
wow you use a website to edit text?
Pycharm, IntelliJ, Phpstorm, and Vim plugins.
>muh ide is bloat
Stay poor NEETs.
Nano
Why would anyone use vim?
notepad
lotus notes 4 lyfe
Acme has always seemed a bit too minimal for me, which makes it really difficult to use it.
Just started using Vim half a month ago and so far I've installed 'Surround' 'QuickRun' and 'YouCompleteMe' and going to install 'Ultisnips' soon.
It all feels pretty based so far.
I started off by deciding to start off with evil mode being unfamiliar with both the editors, and was advised to familiarize myself with vanilla Vim first.
I've got no idea about registers and other fancy sounding features yet.
When would you suggest it appropriate to shift?
vim
let the bodies hit the floor
Notepad++ because I'm not a masochist
Forgot to mention I only know HTML, do I fit here guys?
Looking for text editor but i am not a coder.
I use to take notes, ideas, write scripts, plays, stories, journal.
i'd like to try editor that is free (as in free non proprietary computing), can build latex documents and to have black background with grey letters. What should i use?
I had sublime text 2, it looked great and it did these things perfectly but willing to try out new since i just upgraded to ssd and everything is new.
Vim
How do i pimp it to that level where it highlights syntax depending on language etc and to build latex?
>text editor thread #185,274,510,830,941,280,573,420
If you're on windows and not using np++ your a retard

how do i pimp this vim that is already in terminal?
repl.it
Vi
Vim is bloated
Dont even get me started on Atom and Visual Studio
Same way you customize it on any other OS
nigga please learn {(
this.
>what are must have vim plugins?
The better you learn vim the less plugins you will need
Make you own mistakes by using plugins (like we all did) and then as you get better you will slowly remove them and use vanilla vim or you own tweaks
with plugins
you can build látex with those too and the bind a key to generate your pdf
I really would like to use Atom in Vim mode, but it is horribly slow
Vim is the only editor that keeps me coming back
Vim, of course.
nano and pic are pleb tier.
Aah. Just follow the instructions in the github wiki mang
$yaourt -S vim-youcompleteme-git
If it applies
Oh! Vundle is your friend
Microsoft Word
OP said text editor.
>Using shit text editor that requires a ton of plugins and time to be as efficient as a normal user that uses Sublime Text or a good IDE
Anybody not using Neovim is just plain wrong. Why don't you start fixing your life? You can start with your editor.
Neovim for everything.
:wq
I'm already using the superior Emacs though
Oh jeez, did this mental retardation come free with that GNU cancer?
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of me using an editor that doesn't suck ass
Is it still loading up? In the meantime I've written a quick Tensorflow program that learns to classify Vi/Vim/Neovim users and retards.
>takes under a second to load
>somehow this is bad
user please
Come back when your leprosy from using Em*cs is cured.
Anyway, I have actual work to do unlike fat, greasy, neckbearded emactards.
1990s editor wars summed up
>all this ad hominem
Wow user those are some solid points you've got there.
>Good Text Editors
First trips of the thread.
Also, Emacs. Fuck Vi's :wq! shit.
VS Code
If i want to do any real development i use an IDE
>web dev
kekkity
Switched to neovim lately. Async Plug and NeoMake is really nice. 10/10
