So how do we reduce server costs Cred Forums? Switch over to ASP and IIS?

Get the nip to sell it to Notch

use imgur for files instead of here

Use that facebook php -> c++ compiler thing.

Raspberry pi cluster

Just like in the AdBlock threads, if a website can not support itself on subscriptions, donations, merchandise, and partial paywalls, then it's not worthy of existence.

just stop hosting pictures all together.

> (OP)
>use imgur for files instead of here
This, wouldn't it reduce the costs?

Pretty much, but was it ever supposed to be a commercial endeavor? I suggest a paywall then we can really become annonymouse

Someone compromised the ads.

Webp

I'll literally kill myself if 4chin shuts down

this

just make the biggest and most famous imageboard of the western world a text only site

this is so easy even I can figure it out. just instead of selecting a picture-file in the post window, replace it with a link. problem solved lads.

This is a pretty slick idea

While I'm sure the Cred Forums code base is a total mess th reason hosting it is the sheer traffic. Reduce the maximum image limit and make Sunday Cred Forums-Pass-only. Maybe that will work. But really you probably can't make money from Cred Forums.

Delete Cred Forums and /r9k/

Problem solved

that would maybe last a day until imgur cuts off uploads from Cred Forums servers, unless you mean peopel having to manually host their image and then link it.

Pass required for posting.
This solves every major problem with the site:
>Actually anonymous posting via pay for pass with Bitcoin and usage of a VPN
>No more extra features for Cred Forums pass users
>Spamming is easy to remove by banning pass token
>Habitual shitposters/ban evaders either shape up or fuck off because they can't just reset their router/data connection to continue shitposting
>Money problem abated
>Increased revenue means Hiro is more likely to give a shit about this website and possibly fire all the shitmods like swaglord so we can get new ones
Give me one reason why, besides poorfaggotry, this isn't the best option.
Note: "because SA is so good" isn't a reason. There are too many differences between SA and here for that comparison to be used.

Cred Forums Pass user since August 2016.

Why would they do that? They accept NSFW submissions.

Hiro is using this as an excuse to add more malicious ads. He's been trying to do this since the beginning, and that's what we're going to end up with. There's no reason to come up with ideas to reduce costs because he's going to ignore them and pile on more ads regardless.

This is not necessarily a bad thing either. People with adblockers won't care, and the normie floods will either contribute income to Hiro or fuck off

yes, remove all the traffic
genius

I don't want to give my credentials to Cred Forums but if I had to I probably would. It absolutely would increase the quality of the site.

can't tell if you're sarcastic or not. Removing the ability to host pictures would solve the problem, in fact it would probably turn the website profitable.

Just allow for pic extensions to be embedded like youtube videos and you remain able to use pictures if you want to, but it would become actually a better website. Traffic would drop though because pictures is what brings a lot of people in.

no thats terrible

Cred Forums Pass user since December 2012.

because of the traffic? just stop and think how much image traffic /vg/ alone generates

mook should sell this shithole to someone like martin shkreli or notch

Let's remove videos from YouTube too.

but imgur isn't some side-hosting bitch that is going to willingly accept uploads from a remote server on a mass scale and in turn host that content in-line with absolutely nothing in return.

you retarded, nigga?

Cred Forums Pass user since August 2013.

I would buy a pass in an instant if this was the case

because when reddit links imgur files it takes them to the entire site which is full of ads, if we used imgur we would only see the direct image or thumb nail.

Moot and Hiroshima are so dumb. So you have dozens of specific interest boards. You know exactly what each board wants.

Just add a webshop to each board. Make a deal for cheap video games and video cards for Cred Forums. Anime and puppets for Cred Forums and /jp/. Poland balls for Cred Forums. Dating for /soc/ and /r9k/. Hardware for Cred Forums. Warhammer games for /tg/. Fishing gear for /out/. Dragon dildos for /gif/. Meme shirts for Cred Forums. Series for Cred Forums. Martial art gear for /asp/. Books for /lit/ and /biz/.

It's a goldmine and they just add more ads.

Some of the more popular boards could be turned into text only.

Imgur will ban you for using them as a CDN. Have others link images on a post they desire. Pass users can upload to the server.

Give pass users fancy formatting.

Hiro closed the sales.

That's actually a good analogy because Youtube doesn't make any fucking money.

Or make it so that they are text only normally and you need a Cred Forums pass to post a picture

>Have others link images on a post they desire.
That's heaven for advertisers. Spying was never this easy.

that would make us sitting ducks for advertising

SWITCH TO WEBP
The file size limit is crazy high anyway. The limit should be 500 KB for boards like Cred Forums.

my guess is, if you're here, you got adblock installed.

yeah, look at all this quality

>Poorfags and shitposters will leave?
Actually shitposters will just pay money.

This is what SomethingAwful did. It still became a dead cancerous shithole.

Missworded that.
You enter a URL in an input feild. That image is then loaded by everyone who clicks that thread. It'd work for any host that allows hotlinking.

(Such as pomf.cat, mixtape.moe, pomf.is, imgur.com, vgy.me..)

That is for free users, paid users get to upload directly to Cred Forums, saving them time from having to upload to another host, copypaste, etc.

>prevent telephones from using the site, lurking included
>categorically permaban any ip address also sending requests to reddit, tumblr, and/or facebook
>bring back the original noko behavior
this is how you cull the scourge, reduce traffic, and save the wobsite hiro

Did you not read the end of my post?
Only the core users of the website will pay to post. This is a good thing.

So you're suggesting this website should somehow intercept all your traffic?
Are you fucking retarded?

It's a security issue to do so. Stupid bullshit like grabify exists just to harvest IPs and target users.

Cred Forums would get b&. imgur allows hotlinking, but it relies on people visiting their stupid website full of ads instead of directly accessing the image.

>banning phonefags
>not exploiting them using mobile apps affiliations and and adding sms payment method for passes

Node + RethinkDB

>Habitual shitposters/ban evaders either shape up or fuck off because they can't just reset their router/data connection to continue shitposting

Definition of shitposting is arbitrary, if you want to completely kill any remaining freedom on this website and turn it into a hugbox circlejerk, then your retarded solution works.

Or you could just fuck off to reddit for those things and don't ruin this site any further.

bitcoin isn't really that anonymous. You still have to buy it from someone, which will tie you to buying bitcoin, buying a Cred Forums pass and shitposting.
>inb4 mine it
Not profitable at all, and nobody sane would buy a ton of hardware or cloud mining service just to post on Cred Forums.
>inb4 random_deepweb_bitcoin_buy-sell_service.exe
you're still trusting a 3rd party with your PayPal Account/Bank Account, which is connected to your BTC account and all your transactions are listed in public. Bank account - 3rd party - BTC account - Cred Forums pass - post, it's not that difficult to trace you back.
>inb4 local bitcoin dealer
ineffective and unavailable in most places

>So how do we reduce server costs Cred Forums?
A couple of Raspberry Pi's should do the trick, no?

One more thing. You can use Javascript to only load on screen images.

could easily be done with harmful cookie and advertising magic
wouldn't work on anyone who's not the lowest of normalfag casual, but that might not be a problem

Proxy the images. Many MyBB forums do this. Not sure how, though.

Ban any image posted from a phone until its been resized.

Or just ban the images,

...

Kek, I didn't. I still think they are comparable enough though. It will attract a ton of trip fags that shit up the boards. Tripfags should be removed.

>imgur will ban you for using them as a CDN
implement image uploading in client-side JS

>you will never write haikus about cannibalism in your yearbook again

Why even live?

Cred Forums will never stop being shit and will continue to become shittier as the years go. Just end it already.

That sounds like it entirely defeats the point of hotlinking.

Just stop posting pictures for a whole day to save bandwidth

>Turn it into a hugbox circlejerk
Going to provide a mechanism for this to happen or just shitfling?
localbitcoins.com

Keep in mind that "but it's not always available" is acceptable because the kind of person who actually cares that much about true anonymity is also uncommon.

delete Cred Forums and Cred Forums

I hope he closes Cred Forums so I can finally rest.
I'm almost 30 and I think it's time to start life instead of shitposting for the past 8 years

>Tripfags trying to use "Cred Forums accounts"
There isn't any way to deal with this short of site wide thread IDs or banning tripfags individually. They already do this when Cred Forums is free, so why not make them pay for it and, if they're a problem, prevent them from coming back without paying more money?

SA isn't comparable because lowtax and his mods are insufferable faggots that ban people for no reason at all. Obviously this could be a problem here, but I don't think Chinese moot would let that happen.

Cred Forums will just move back to Cred Forums, whichbis the happy meme version of Cred Forums

Let only supreme intelligences like me post. Ban everyone who fails an IQ test

Cred Forums Pass user since May 2013.

But most of online news and epic memes from Cred Forums come from Cred Forums. If anything, Cred Forums should have been deleted in the 2010 summerfag shit show. Now it seems to not actually be random and instead just general porn threads.

- Delete all porn boards
- Reduce image size limit

What's stopping Hiro from getting a bunch of affiliates? literally nothing. I'm sure that with Cred Forums's traffic, the profit will be much better than the average anime site who use the same method (pic related from deadfish). Not limiting to browser games but also affiliations with mobile apps, there's no point in not exploiting the mobile users when they're probably half of the Cred Forums regular visitors at this point.

As people are just uploading the same images again and again, I don't understand why they don't use hashes to cut down on repeated uploads. With the hash being stored either in the filename or computed on the client side before upload. This would also give the advantage that previously banned images could be prevented from being posted on blue boards at all, reducing the load on the hard working janitors and mods.

would removing the geolocation feature on boards like int or sp do anything

>But most of online news and epic memes from Cred Forums come from Cred Forums
Good point, it's time to delete that cancer.

Delete porn boards.

Limit file sizes for Cred Forums and /vp/

Actually, you can just remigrate all the shit boards like /hc/, /soc/, /gif/ /r/ back into Cred Forums, which is a boring, slow shithole at the moment.

Cred Forums Pass user since May 2013.

>Dating for /soc/ and /r9k/.
Nah, needs to dating for /soc/ and counselling for /r9k/

or move porn boards to a porn Cred Forums which has Livejasmin ads.

Throw Cred Forums in there too
Merge the porn boards, Cred Forums and Cred Forums.

Could you imagine affiliate link to chrunchyroll

>Keep in mind that "but it's not always available" is acceptable because the kind of person who actually cares that much about true anonymity is also uncommon.
This is true, but it's unlikely anyone wanting to remain truly anonymous would use Cred Forums since it prevents tor browser users from posting and includes google scripts (pic related).

>what is a donation page
I know you can get Cred Forums passes but holy shit hiro could at least pay the bills if we had an idea of how much he needed it to keep afloat.

Delete Cred Forums, /soc/, Cred Forums, /s4s/, /r9k/, Cred Forums and all of the porn boards

he should tell us how much money he need and tell us how many he have, make a transparent system so we can fill and keep this shit alive

Sell it to the FBI so they can conduct memetic research on a deeper level

Hiroshima detected.

That would be nuclear... I was thinking about games mostly, since underages spend a lot on P2W mobile games they would definitely bring some useful profit to Cred Forums through affiliations.

Maybe Daisuki would not be a bad idea, I'm not sure they have any affiliation system though.

He's trying to make a sustainable profit, not a charity drive once a year

They would delete g before pol or r9k. Both of those are full of people who DON'T block all adds.

He should give Cred Forums pass holders the ability to delete one thread per day, per pass.

Hiro wouldn't care about his image if he started to ask for donations like moot.
Why hasn't he done this

kek

this

That will lead to board raids.

Cred Forums doesn't have enough traffic to make it an issue.

The big boards are what drive bandwidth costs up.

there are threads,on those board with more traffic then the entirety of shit board fag

ok, then one 3-day ban per week, per pass.

fundraiser idea
>give each board a bitcoin adress
>the board most donated to after one month gets deleted forever

Google could be removed if captcha is no longer necessary. Well maybe not analytics.

The exclusiveness of Cred Forums would encourage more elitist trip users to join than anonymous users. I agree that paying to post could be useful but only if tripcodes are removed. It would help prevent elitism from take over all of the boards like every forum ever.

That will certainly lead to board raids.

Cred Forums could ban all of Cred Forums

Implement the Cred Forums gold account

P 2 P
2
P

This is easy

1. Open source Cred Forums's code base. I bet it is shit and is wildly inefficient. Let some nerds fix it for free.

2. Work out a deal with the NSA to host it in exchange for total surveillance of all traffic. /joke

3. Open source the expenses so the users know how much the site costs to run and how much money it is losing. Could help spur people to donate/get passes.

4. Take donations, fix ads, setup donations, get porn ads for porn boards. Hiro needs to understand his revenue streams and keep them going.

5. Sell it to Martin Shkreli

6. Sell it to me, I can probably turn this shit box around and get it to at least self sustain.

It's simple, we delete adv, soc, cgl, trv, and outdoors.

>1. Open source Cred Forums's code base. I bet it is shit and is wildly inefficient. Let some nerds fix it for free.
Yeah that works great for so many "free" software.

Downsize and remove shit boards for nice interests that could easily be taken up by Cred Forums

Increase Cred Forums pages to 50 or so. Save moneys

Cred Forums Pass user since May 2013.

> This would also give the advantage that previously banned images could be prevented from being posted on blue boards at all, reducing the load on the hard working janitors and mods.
Good idea, though rather than denying upload of the same image (which would affect negatively many boards in the long run), if the hashed image was already posted in another thread, or even in an archived thread, the new upload should link to that image instead of creating a new cached version of it and that image should be kept cached till all threads with it go 404 (so that even if an image that was previously cached in an archived thread gets deleted, the most recent replies who still use that cached image won't suffer from it).

I suppose tripcodes could be replaced by voluntarily choosing to have a thread ID on your post.

Just delete all of it. Nothing of value would be lost.

The big boards are also what brings revenue in.
You're right. There are threads, on those boards, that bring in more income then the entirety of g does.
Deleting any boards won't solve shit. The high traffic boards bring in the money, the low traffic boards cost little to maintain.
The easiest solution, is to add new pass features like he wants, to do a donation drive like wiki, and to lower the maximum size of file uploads. All of that is easy to implement, and will affect revenue positively.

Merge /w/ with /wg/.

Who cares if someone steals Cred Forums's code, the value of the site isn't in its code, it is the users.

Also implement webp support

It's more effective than shitty jpeg and png

Cred Forums Pass user since May 2013.

Stop archiving stuff, once a thread falls off the bottom of the board its gone.
Like it used to be.

1. Remove the archives.
2. Raise the cool down timer to 2 minutes.
3. Lower filesizes to 2MB on all boards except for specific boards.
4. Try to combine niche boards together.

I'm okay with closing boards. Long as it's not Cred Forums, Cred Forums, /hbg/ and any other ones I like.

hiro could reduce server costs by using a more performant language: companies who have switched to Go (golang) have seen up to 90% costs reduction. why? because the language is VERY performant and manages resources very well.
moving to php7 would also be "good enough" to reduce some costs in the short term.

also, : make /consumer/ board, put referral codes in the URLs

also, delete Cred Forums

it does for some, especially popular ones. It's not like Cred Forums is something worthy of keeping closed source, any mongoloid can make a clone of it.

install gentoo

This, there's plenty 3rd party archives out there.

I wonder if there are stats on # of users vs pass buyers for all boards

my guess is that Cred Forums is the board that has least contributors in terms of passes. if so, it's the least money-efficient board...

Wouldn't deleting Cred Forums be the best option?

definitely this , who even uses the archive besides the FBI?

Realistically, just get rid of porn boards like /gif/.
There is nothing there you couldn't also get from other sites, it's just an endless stream of reposts from other sources with very little actual discussion.
Decrease the file size limits on other boards drastically (because we sure need those 3MB 3700x5400 shitty phone pics).

Cred Forums is one of the middle traffic boards. /ck/ is a slow board. But then again 90% of adblock users would be on Cred Forums.

2 MB is still crazy high. 500 KB should be enough for most boards. Or maybe add a captcha to download larger images.

Even reddit is experimenting with self-hosted images because they're tired of Imgur's bullshit.

On a scale from cancer to cancer Imgur is surprisingly even worse than reddit.

When did all of these normies invade. Is this CTR?

The CIA.

I bet Cred Forums bought the most Cred Forums passes.

Your capitalism is fascism!

Cred Forums Pass user since September 2016.

>2 MB is still crazy high. 500 KB should be enough for most boards. Or maybe add a captcha to download larger images.

No, you're wrong

No way because you lose your money if you get banned.

Yeah, that filesize limit would be shit.

Cred Forums Pass user since September 2016.

>it's just an endless stream of reposts from other sources with very little actual discussion.
this is true... it's always the same shit in /gif/

I'm a commie, but... sadly, that's how shit works

They started to self host because imgur became filthy rich. Reddit wants that profit too.

>Later on August 24, 2013, the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau declared in a tax audit that Nishimura failed to declare 100 million yen worth of website revenue which is subject to income tax.[15]
How was Hirohito making so much money with 2ch that he had to hide 100 mil yen from the Nip IRS yet he's back for more handouts?

Free idea, which I was going to use myself: host all images on IPFS. Benefits are that 4chin users get to level up technically, the internet becomes freer, and IPFS gets populated with more files.

4+Cred Forums is about to get a lot more traffic.

>Get rid of archives
>Ban gifs, replace with WebMs, with a max size of 1MB, except for /gif/ and /wsg/
>Remove or merge slow moving boards that take up a lot of space (e.g. /hr/)
>Reduce max image size and resolution on non image quality related boards.

I'm sure a lot of people say this, but deleting Cred Forums is counter intuitive, it's one of the busiest boards, and there are likely a lot of Cred Forums pass users on it because of it.

Have it so when a user opens a thread, it loads the first 20 posts only, you scrroll down and it loads the next 50, and so on. Doesn't make sense when people open a thread, load all the images they never even look at.

>To view this image you need a Cred Forums gold account

The meme is coming alive, you guys.

The problem with getting rid of the porn boards, is that the people who visit them are less likely to have add-blockers then certain other boards. So those boards bring in money, it's just that the files on those boards are so large. Limiting file size would keep the income from porn the same but lower the cost for hosting it.

That's why I'm saying if they did cut boards, g would be up at the top. Decent traffic, but very little ad revenue due to the type of people here.

The monthly donation progress on the front page would be a good idea. There are rich people on Cred Forums on would donate in order to keep the site running, as still one of the only bastions of free speech on the internet.

Why would you need to post something like this on Cred Forums? That is pretty good quality anyway.

How long would it take to rewrite Cred Forums in another language?

4ちゃん

Its been fun guys, and I'm going to miss talking to all of you

I don't know if any of us will ever be able to express our feelings and thoughts in this way again, freely, without fear of condemnation

I love you all, its been a good run. Maybe we will see each other in the next life.

no javascript please

only load html, boom calls to server halved and the ux is not even affected

What about a distributed server API?

Like Hentai @ Home. Distribute the hosting of images.

Shitloads of Cred Forums would gladly run a box in the corner, and the NSA would fucking love to as well.

remove boards that don't produce memes like the porn boards

this. they need a compiled system for their traffic.

NO

DON'T SAY THIS PLEASE

I'VE BEEN HERE FOR AS LONG AS MOOT WAS NOW

NO

1 week from scratch. 1 day at most from existing shit.

One or two weeks of intensive work for a single person if your aim is to do it properly.

Why don't we just write a better website and move there?

Yeah, the concept of porn boards is pretty outdated to and I don't know why they're necessary

You mean like all the other Cred Forums clones out there?

Can't they try running a Patreon page? I'm sure there's at least a few people on the website with money.

They don't load all the images though. Only the thumbnails.
If you open a topic with images, and expand the first few ones, then go away for a day or whatever, when you come back you can still see the thumbnails, and still open the images you viewed before. But you can't view any images you didn't already view.
Because all the images aren't loaded on page load.

>Cred Forums clones
Cred Forums itself is a clone. The chans aren't clones, they are chans.

how do we actually make hiro read our advice?
where do we send advice? I've posted some shit, but I really doubt he'll even see it, let alone read it

Yes, but actually a successful one.

Network effect, reason why 8ch isn't really happening.

But if this shithole shuts down we will just move there.

Maybe he saw your advice but it was shit.

History of passes in a nutshell:
>Good goy, the captchas are totally temporary :^)
>Donations? Yuck, bad goy! Do I look like a beggar?
>Good goy, why haven't you purchased a Cred Forums pass for the low, low price of $20? This way, you won't have to use the captcha which I have setup to artificially fail 20% of the ti- I mean, which google failed to properly implement!

I think it's time that Hiro gets another audit.

this image aptly describes the likely result of that proposition

8ch is even more of a shithole than Cred Forums currently is, and this is really saying something. We can't be moving there. Maybe 3 or f (but meh), but most certainly not 8.

moot didn't propose Cred Forums passes, people basically yelled at him until he made them.

Moot didn't want to ask for help.
JapMoot hasn't said if he's anti-begging or not yet. I assume this will just end with him implementing the 2nd option he listed though.
Popup and popunder adds across the board.

I won't actually. I'll take the opportunity to kill my endless procrastination spiral for good since I never jumped on the reddit bandwagon and newspaper comment systems now all use facebook. Migrating to a new chan is too much hassle. I subconsciously hope that Cred Forums gets kill, maybe I can break free from my depression caused by staying up until 4 am watching dank memes and writing angry shitposts to strangers.

we're not trying to standardize chans here, that image doesn't describe this situation at all

come up with a better way to stop spam

I'll wait

>this is what newfags believe
Top kek!

lainchan is a better option desu

ATTENTION: YOU'RE BEING BAMBOOZLED BY THE CHINK, HE'S JUST TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO MAKE A PROFIT OUT OF THIS SHITHOLE, NO MEASURES WILL BE TAKEN IN CONSIDERATION

Cred Forums gold account has been a meme since forever, ya newfag. Moot also said that he was never going to implement captcha, even after the anontalk spam invasion that lasted for 3 months.

Is there a way to hijack Cred Forums's users (at least the valuable ones, not shitposters) on a new website? I mean, other than buying the domain.

>didn't propose Cred Forums passes, people basically yelled at him until he m
Yeah after he complained for years that Cred Forums was putting him into massive debt. Cred Forums admins have no fucking business sense, they want to run some socialist internet site, but the fact is everything runs on money.

Seriously, Cred Forums could be self sustaining if an admin was to focus on finances and finding cost reductions. Instead we get autistic freaks that can't understand what a dollar is.

I would add captchas for a site of any size.

Can't we make Cred Forums peer to peer or something?

He literally has form for this, and yet people are still falling for it.

You can pay with a giftcard or bitcoin. Theres no check for name. the only piece of info is your post code.

People yelled at moot for years after he stopped taking donations. He made the passes bypass captcha because he wanted to feel like he was providing an extra service in exchange for a donation.

I know; I was there.

the increasing number of traffic is not to be underestimated.

Wtf @ the asians left leg

-There is no need to stop spam anyway. Spam almost never happens. inb4 that period where there was spam on Cred Forums. Grow the fuck up and lrn2reality.
-Enabling captcha only in periods of unusual activity is easy, automatic, and doesn't bother anyone. This can even be applied on a per-board basis.
-There is 0 need to use google's jew captchas in the first place
-Using prefab questions based on board culture (which can also automatically be extracted via simple text statistics in a fill-the-blank style) would block out all non-native spam on top of denying non-lurkers the ability to post.

Let's make another website.

>b-but r/Cred Forums told me this is how it happened!11
>I-I was theeeere!

>There is no need to stop spam anyway. Spam almost never happens.

literally every website that doesn't use captcha falls victim to spam

is this the Cred Forums growth some user mentioned in the other thread? goddamn

Shit in my ass there's a lot of newfags.

Not an argument.

Lainchan is a pretty basic website, with no JS enhancements. I would really miss having things like QR.
I'd like to make a more modern website.

>if I deny reality, I WIIIIIN!

>Not an argument.
Neither is "I know; I was there" faglord.

>Spam almost never happens. inb4 that period where there was spam on Cred Forums. Grow the fuck up and lrn2reality.

Congratulations, this is the single dumbest thing I've read on this site in the last five minutes.

Elections period and summer, bad combo. It will probably decrease a lot after winter.

Lainchan is a hugbox.
Anyway,
>going to a site with a board dedicated to taylor swift

I can't really link the post anymore, can I? Fucking idiot.

It's because of the election cycle. Cred Forums is one of the echo chambers that makes Trump memes

I bet you use the new cancerous captcha like a cuck, which is why you're so salty

merge all of the porn boards back into /gif/ and some sort of porn general

webms under a certain size only on /gif/ (maybe special cases for media/sports boards)
Merge /w/ and /wg/
Merge /mlp/ and Cred Forums for keks
merge Cred Forums and /vr/ (there's never been beef between the two of them, we really only need /vg/ as a gayming containment board)

merge /an/ and /out/

merge /n/ and /trv/

Merge /r/ and /wsr
merge /gif/ and /wgif/ (because Cred Forums was never really meant to be entirely work safe. seriously, it's fucking Cred Forums)

All of that would probably halve the server load.

Go kill yourself. Pretending to be an oldfag doesn't make you cool. It makes you look like a fucking loser.

THICC

It's just normies visiting Cred Forums because muh newz

they're not actual posters and never will be. We only need to weather the storm. There will be a small influx of new members.

The real problem is getting jlist back on board after hiro ran them off. We'll find a way. Or another advertiser.

I'll do the logo.

>2016
>believing the high server costs meme

Do you think that all those marketing spamposts are for free?
If he's so interested in the well being of the users why is everything behind closed curtains?
Why he dropped the bomb on the /qa/ thread out of the blue without any additional info?

I don't know what /w/ and /wg/ even are but none of the other boards you suggest merging have anything to do with each other.

>Pretending to be an oldfag
I don't know where I said I thought I was an oldfag. I only said that you were wrong and that's really why moot implemented passes.

>Switch some boards to text only
>Remove 3D porn boards
>merge /vp/ with /vg/
>reduce upload size on /gif/
>2d porn boards to fap.Cred Forums.org

>I'll do the logo.
That is literally all every Cred Forums project manages to make. After that it's a clusterfuck.

Then started to self-host because Imgur started to redirect direct link which bounced users away from reddit.

Also because Imgur's liberalism surpasses even reddit, and more than once they deleted images related to trending posts.

Ultimately, like most large sites (including Cred Forums) realize is that you can't and shouldn't rely on 3rd parties. It's best to keep everything in-house.

Stay mad (and dead wrong), you fucking loser.

>videogames and retro videogames are unrelated

>porn boards are unrelated

>travel and methods of travel are unrelated

>nature and outdoors aren't related either

what part didn't you get?

>discontinued

Nice meme.

I only meant that it would be denied for banned images. For the user a duplicated image wouldn't need to be uploaded at all resulting in much faster posting.

You've obviously never been to the boards.

I'll admit to missing Cred Forums and /vr/, they are related but /vr/ was split so people can actually discuss retro games without shitposters.

Thats basically will remove the unique feature about Cred Forums, and at this stage, you better go to any VBullutin/BB forum.

I liked when Cred Forums had many different subdomains.

Fast boards get their own servers, slower boards share servers. All of the near empty boards could probably be fit on one server. Lower the image and/or bump limits on some particularly slow boards. Maybe lower the page count on excessively slow boards where threads can stick around for months.

kill Cred Forumslution

>"I prefer interesting Cred Forums over profitable Cred Forums."
>"Oh shit guys I can't afford to keep Cred Forums running."
-Hiroshimoot

This guy is a fucking retard.

Thanks

Actually, if we just kill Cred Forums and Cred Forums Cred Forums's userbase will drop to below half of what it is today, and it would be objectively a good thing.

Cred Forums lacking money has been happening since before he took over, retard

Hiro should add a hip p2p web framework that caches posts and images.

Turn Cred Forums into a text board outside of Cred Forums, /c/, and /e/.

Yeah, your site runs on money, it is more important to keep Cred Forums at least cost neutral than interesting. He has also proposed a false choice, you can do both.

Yeah, moot basically jewed the poor yellow fellow

some year ago I was running an anime site on a remote dedicated server and in the beginning the increase of traffic in the weekends was enough to fuck it up for good, I had to get a plan that costed 40% more in order to manage that. I imagine if the traffic started increasing by the day and reached almost 3 times the number of unique visitors in just half a year, an upgrade would be necessary and the cost would at least double up.

Hiro can I be mod??

>He has also proposed a false choice, you can do both.
t. capitalist jew

No you can't, fuck off with your lolbertarian wet dreams.

Reminder Hiroshima took out a bank loan to buy Cred Forums and admitted in his first Q&A he has a year to pay it back. That year has expired. The nip is engaging Operation Malware like he always intended to do.

They wont leave. There's nothing we can do about those people they will probably never leave only the ones that are here for the election are likely to leave and even before they came Cred Forums and Cred Forums were extremely popular boards.

deleting the porn boards seem like a good idea

if that didn't happen then limiting filesize to only accomodate reaction pics is also good, reaction pics don't have to be in 4k res anyway

>For the user a duplicated image wouldn't need to be uploaded at all resulting in much faster posting.
True, client-side check would definitely help a lot in saving traffic.

Approximate figures?

That isn't how it'll work, retard. They're containment boards. Those people won't just go away if you delete those boards. They'll just flood onto the rest of the site, and all that'll be standing between you and them is an army of unpaid canines holding brooms.

only allow OP to have a pic or webm, but make secret gold only board where users can post normally
use webp
remove gif support
merge same topic boards
make the entire site nsfw and fire mods, leaving only janitor that do their job for free
purge threads when a time limit is hit, let's say 6 hours

mook is probably pulling an ellen pao, and just going to do whatever he wants despise all the suggestions or backlash. he will push for more datamining and malware

>moot jewed some poor yellow fellow and abandonded all ideals and commitment as soon as he got an offer for some dosh
>Cred Forums literally bankrupted a gook

Hahahahahahaha

about $0-$0.0 per year

This, the bomb dodger was just planning how to fuck this site up during this year while neeting around
>me kannot spiky le english
yeah me arse

I just want to see assmad redditfags, that's all.

in my case, I started with 150$ more or less for 100 Mbit/s monthly, the traffic was between 5-8k unique a day. When it reached 12k daily I had to upgrade to a 200$ plan with 1 Gbit/s.

In every thread on this site about this halfway through Cred Forums shows up and begins shilling their shit despite every post up to that point being in favour of killing Cred Forums

Everyone knows that containment boards don't work. Including yourself.

>Those people won't just go away if you delete those boards.
Pretty sure they will

>They'll just flood onto the rest of the site
Containment boards is a meme. You know as well as I that half the reason Cred Forums grew its userbase was when it got Cred Forums. The "containment board" is a meme. Just look at /mlp/, it has like 5 active users, but before mlp it was mlp memes everywhere because it fucking pissed moot off.

1. Stricter file size limit for free users. Maybe a daily quota might work better than an per post limit. Will stop idiots posting noisy photos as PNG or still using GIF for video. WEBM will be hit too but so be it. This then becomes a premium user feature.

2. No attention whore features like plebbit/You points, user name or any features that make their posts stand out. Once that happens it's over but I have a strong feeling this will actually happen because it will bring in the most money. It should be used as a last resort when all else fails.

3. Re-write server side code. A lot of work and code save some bandwidth and server usage but I don't think this option will be considered due to amount of work needed just for a minor improvement.

4. Donations? Actually, forget that. We all know very few donate, myself included.

I would donate, you're just a poorfag

>implement webp conversion for file size reduction
>use client side hash image recognition to reduce upload times for users and hosting cost for host
>allow community development(main asset of Cred Forums is the domain not the board's)
>sell stickys for boards as ads like whoring out Cred Forums to bioware to host ama's

all the problems of traffic and hosting cost stem from a lack of development of the platform i would bet its like the windows build system fed with the blood of level 32 virgins and mt dew

Curate all the traditionally SFW boards on a new site, fab up a tabloid-style frontpage and sell ads to the more conservative advertisers

>When it got Cred Forums
No it didn't. Those are the same people from /new/ and before that, stormfront and Cred Forums.

>Pretty sure they will
Each and every time the Cred Forums board has been deleted, they haven't done this.

>le Cred Forums boogeyman

Go away, you fucking retards.

host images and webms using IPFS

That would be an option for sure. 2ch gets by with Ascii art or links to Imgur as part of the post.

It's not like we have any new content anyways. The thinly veiled jerk off material threads always end up having a bunch of images with Cred Forums file names.

delete Cred Forums except for superior Japanese sports such as sumo, judo, and karate.

It's just a ruse by Hiro for Cred Forums's birthday, fucking newfags.

Cred Forums will never go down.

I only pay for things I consider to have an actual value or quality. Cred Forums is just a bunch of memes and shitposting. I'm only here to procrastinate, if I need to pay to be here, I'm out.

Please leave now so Hiro can save some money on your bandwidth.

could work, but offering services for it instead just seems like an all-around better option. Maybe something that gives good benefits in the short term unlike buying a dozen Cred Forums passes.

Spot the newfags! Cred Forums was deleted before and we all saw the results. We don't need your expert opinion on what's going to happen, because we already know. Let's hope the gook has more sense than to listen to you retards, because we're all fucked if he does.

Kek

...

Can someone explain to me right now what is the most expensive part of Cred Forums? Is it running the servers and fixing failing hardware? Is it electricity?

>Traffic stats
From moot? Or from some retard scraping archives and claiming to have unbiased data?

Stop trying to force bitcoin on Cred Forums. Next you'll be saying use the blockchain for storage.

this

2 MB or 2 MiB?

Make me.

If he wants to save money on bandwidth, he should fix the shitty coding on this site. For example, the shitty userscript that creates a bunch of unnecessary HTTP requests instead of using a websocket and aggregating everything over that.

He should also implement gzip compression of images, and just store images in compressed format on the server anyway. That will save both bandwidth and storage requirements.

We kill the Cred Forums.
We repeat Amezou.
We're twelve years late to this.

Ban phone posters. They make up half of the usage. Phone posters are normies.

Have you looked at yourself in the mirror lately?

Post these traffic stats then. I'm just assuming you're moot, because he's the only one who'd know.

I would imagine:
bandwidth>power>rent>the rest
It was probably going alright until banner ads got removed, hiro just wants to force the issue to make more money.

>Cred Forums was deleted before and we all saw the results
Yes, killing /new/ reduced the traffic to this site.

From both moot and from alexa

>inb4 hurr durr not unbiased

As a Cred Forumsock monitoring the mood on other boards,it is more likely weaker boards such as yours will be purged and only the big 4 will remain. Cred Forums generates so much traffic and essentially act as advertising for Cred Forums, and a few changes would return Cred Forums to profitibality. Cred Forums is the only board with tangible effects on reality.

is this seriously the new look?

If Hiroshima can't manage the site as is (without ads, etc.) How moot *who?* manage to do that?
Really make you think about it.

Post sources then.

write it in C, there is no other way

Phone posters are the only people posting freshly taken photos.
That's the greatest flow of oc on this site currently.

(You)

Post them. Do it, faggot.

99% of the images are recycled and 60% of the said recycled images are immediately recognizable. For example pic related doesn't need to be re-uploaded each time a post needing smug is made. We should be able to just enter "smug" and have a random smug pulled from Cred Forums server.

>prevent telephones from using the site, lurking included

How am I supposed to shitpost at work then?

90% of normies drawn here by Cred Forums in the news will be visiting by mobile.

Disable loading of images and thumbnails on mobile until the election dies down and we're out of the news. That's one big percentile cut.

/new/ was killed like 6(?) years ago iirc. it takes time to dig up old blogposts and alexa stat but I'm on it right now.

I like this, also Pepe

Cred Forums had ads though. It continued to get worse under moot until he left and remained about the same since hiro took over.

>Cred Forums

slow boards are also some of the best ones. boards like /an/ and /ck/ consistently have great discussion and oc.

>CPU PROBLEM INTRODUCED

CPU PROBLEMS ARE CHEAPER AND EASIER TO DEAL WITH IN THE LONG RUN THAN STORAGE ISSUES

FAG

>Switch over to ASP and IIS?

Anyone remembers?

I've always been curious how Hentai@Home works. Does it put each image on multiple servers, and the "click here if image fails to load" just switches to the next server? Do servers that frequently fail to load images get banned from the system? Seems to me that there could be issues with malicious servers, particularly when the concept is applied to Cred Forums.

I take it you never heard of amezou, ayashii and all the smaller boards that created the imageboard culture.
These sites never lasted longer than a few years in the beginning, and that is a good formula in many ways.

>cpu is cheaper than storage
nah, you can't convert images to webm without losing quality anyway.

writes smug.jgp and the server pulls one of the smug from the server
people start spamming the threads with smug.jpg to get the smug they wanted / see how many smugs there are in the server

you're a moron. here's your smug.jpg also, people might do stupid shit like typing deadchildwithnohead.jpg just to see what is on the server

yeah
what would we do if we lost all the quality posts on Cred Forums...

take it easy bro it's just an internet thread

HOW DO I DO THIS?

>So how do we reduce server costs Cred Forums? Switch over to ASP and IIS?

Remove /gif/, /hc/ and /s/.

They have little intellectual and cultural value and they are one of the most draining boards when it comes to traffic, and all the porn available on the internet just makes them irrelevant.

You can debate the rest of the boards importance but these three have very little reason to remain here. The whole site shouldn't suffer in service or quality just so they can remain.

There's an additional problem with that suggestion. If the CPUs have to process potentially thousands of image conversions at once the site wont just be slow it could also lead to higher power usage.

>thread with over 400 replies
>This thread has been pruned or deleted
Sasuga mods!

>It was probably going alright until banner ads got removed, hiro just wants to force the issue to make more money.
BINGO.

Thats the joke

Already made one. Should probably upload it, but I'd need to boot up my old PC where I still have the database shit.

HAHAHAH look at your name HAHAHHAAHHA welcome to reddit niggers

Post this shit. Cred Forums has become fanatical and is now a genuine force on the internet. If gook moot wants to delete Cred Forums at their height,go ahead, but you can be sure they won't go without a bang.

I'll make the logo

>1MB file size limit
>add SVG support or some other shit for people wanting to post logos/text mainly (or black & white + transparent memes)
>allow porn just on /t/ - torrent ( i mean why have people spam 300+ versions of the same scene in different resolutions over and over)
Dunno what more. I guess adding adds, if they stay non-intrusive. I guess they could require passes to create threads or post images. Or really really small sizes for non pass-owners and the 4MB limit for pass-owners.
>also i guess banning gifs is ok if you could use svg for simple stuff and webm for animations/movies.

you really belive that this service runs on a single host? really?

More advertisements are not the solution. People block them as is. Cred Forums is one of the places where you're safe, believe it or not, without an adblocker. People who whitelist the site will begin blocking it once the advertisements become dangerous and intrusive.

Some boards certainly need to be deleted and combined. People organize threads by generals which is the solution whether you like it or not. So, it'll work out fine. For example, /gif/ and /s/ can be combined and you can have a flair on each thread that you can choose whether or not it's a video or image thread. Or it can be done automatically by OP's uploaded image extension. This isn't hard guys... Where's my shekels? I'll give you that free of charge, no royalties.

I'd buy a Cred Forums pass because as you can see by pic related I like falling for memes, but I don't like paying $25 or whatever it is at once. I'd slide you like a shekel a month if that... A dollar a month and I'd do that right now. Literally. If you can prepay for a month at a time without subscription or bullshit for a dollar, I'd get it all the time. I don't really care about features. It's a dollar for fuck sake you homeless fuckers I'd do it just to help the site. However, God forbid you pay for something just because so, since we need features... Umm... Well, first, like I said, make Cred Forums passes more accessible such as prepaying for a month for a dollar or whatever. That's what it comes out to anyways. OR have Cred Forums pass tiers. Like if you buy it all at once for a year you get all the bonus features and if you buy it for a month the minimum thing you get is the no captcha thing which is essentially all the pass is for, right guys? Although that's only useful on mobile, honestly. I like shitposting on the go and efficiently.

CELEBRATE AND EMBRACE THE END AS IT HAS FINALLY BEGUN!

peak traffic has taken its toll in full on this site by first ruining any semblance left of community and quality and then by over straining resources

Cred Forums has grown way too large for its own good. There is a rule on the internet about the negative relationship between community size and quality

On a side note, It's a curious thing how we have reached this point this quickly after the acquisition. I thought moot had ironed out a formula for keeping Cred Forums afloat over the years and Hiro would just sit on this. I thought he bought it for exactly that reason . I'm really curious about the costs of this site. I hope they get released before it goes under

>good goy, forget about the malware ads that hiroshima nagasaki added
>good goy, you're safe, just remove your adblocker!

>thinks major restructuring of the site identity will fix this problem
look at history (see SA) and look how it worked

The last few months have probably been hell on the site due to the US presidential election. Like every report about Pepes and their link to Trump leads back to Cred Forums which has probably caused an influx of curious people.

h@h is a huge distributed content network which consists of people running the h@h server software. The main server has a database of image links to h@h servers. I guess once a request comes in the main server picks a link at random from the database and serves it up in the HTML page. If the image fails loading because the server just went offline unexpectedly or the like, clicking on the "click here if..."-link most likely serves up the main server's mirror link because usually those accesses are pretty fast.

There's also a quality system in place so that "bad" servers get to serve less requests.

>SA
Stopped reading here.

test

To add more to this... The users are the key to Cred Forums's survival. Period. No one wants to get involved with Cred Forums. Even the users don't want people to know they use it. So, you'd have to get money from the users directly. Make them WANT to pay, but don't do it in a douchey way where it's forced like what Google did with YouTube on mobile forcing users to pay to play it while the phone is locked... It's just an underhanded thing to do. The captcha thing is understandable because it prevents spam and all that unless you're on mobile which then it can be annoying unless you get that lucky three digit number to type in.

Make features on the Cred Forums pass useful for the price in contrast to not paying ON TOP OF not fucking with the non-pass users... They're crucial to Cred Forums and more people don't have a pass than do (I'd assume) so you don't want to drive them off.

Honestly... There's little you can do aside from making it like Reddit. Add more tripfag features... Or like a little icon next to your name so people know you're a certified shitposter . And maybe add features to make things more efficient such as downloading all images in one click, ways to find samefaggers, and ways to block people regardless of trips... So, if you find a shitposter that pisses you off, but you can't block him... You'll be able to. Make sense? That'd be worth it alone... I see this being very useful and will make a better experience for a paying customer. Yes, I know some of this can be done with extensions and apps, that's not the point.

Other than that... You really have only a few other choices... Turn it into a forum or Reddit like place... Which you can cry about it all your want, but it will have to be done if things get bad... On top of that, while it does shit on the philosophy of imageboards, especially anonymous ones... You'll have to make that decision unless you want Cred Forums to die and I'm too autistic to use actual social platforms so... Cred Forums pass only board?

That's true. Cred Forums must make a large dent in hosting cost. It probably attracts tons of unique traffic and other problems

Isn't that one a honeypot though?

Where is my signature Hiro.

im unsubbing if you dont tell me @hiroyui##admin

Didn't know about that, but I have YouTube Red. So, as you can see I have poor judgment anyways.

gifs should be banned and webms file size reduced to 1mb or 2

I think load time testing has started
Anyone else notice a slowing?

True enough. At least you're not like the average redditfag who believes he's more of a Cred Forums users than people who've been there all day since 2005.

I doubt that is the core traffic generating problem on the site

I was under the assumption that certain boards still are on different servers? I remember Cred Forums was frozen over some reason (can't remember if Cred Forums was also frozen) but other boards were working as normal, and this was after switching from img/zip.

GIF files really should be banned. WebM is MUCH more efficient and since I got used to them seeing a GIF file pisses me off now just from lack of controls. WebM can't be reduced or else it defeats the whole purpose. However, you can reduce it on boards like Cred Forums to 1MB and other places designated for it can be 4MB or whatever, like /gif/.

Seriously ban GIF files. It really has nothing to do with anything aside from the fact it's fucking shit.

Remove half of the boards, allow only half of threads (like 5 pages or something, I dont know I use catalog), add Cred Forums diamond accounts

Notch, palmer flukey and moot with jeegle money can sponsor

This

Cred Forums should partner with reddit and 9gag

Well I guess they could still be but I've been under the assumption that they're running redundantly right now.

1. Prune/merge some boards.
2. Either kill the archive or lower it to a few hours instead of a week.
2.1. Don't archive pictures/videos, just text posts.
3. Limit file sizes.
4. Allow porn ads on porn boards.
5. Increase the allowable banner ad height (try to keep it

It makes sense on Cred Forums but fucking remove it from Cred Forums.

Cred Forums is much bigger too. Give our old flag combobox back.

>2. Either kill the archive or lower it to a few hours instead of a week.
>2.1. Don't archive pictures/videos, just text posts.
This. There is no reason for an official site archive when there is always a group of third party sites doing it. This site was designed to not have a memory anyway

Ban third-party archives. That's a good way to drop bandwidth.
There's 700GB of active content right now. Archives and scrapers are consuming all of it; your average user isn't.

how about server side image optimization, if some retard post 800x600 4mb image, server would reduce its size and all other users would download that smaller version

It's very underestimated how difficult it is to do just that. Cred Forums seems simple, but it's quite advanced. Cred Forums is not the ultimate site. It's just an imageboard. In fact, it's the American version of 2channel. Moot "borrowed" the idea when he was like 14 because he's a weeb and started an American version. That's why the first board was Cred Forums... And everything else went to random or Cred Forums as you know it. That's why Cred Forums is called that and not /r/ because it was the second board ever made. Hotwheels made 8ch as an alternative to Cred Forums, but with more free speech, as in all of it really. Or at least I believe that's the reason. I mean, shit, you get in trouble (or did) for even mentioning 8ch on here. However, it's a shitty place so don't go there... (Happy? I'm telling people not to go there.) It really is a shitty alternative, honestly. The whole site seems dirty and old. The only thing there is REAL freedom of speech, but that can backfire. You need laws regardless because shitty people take over if you don't. Plus it's essentially dead. People go there for doxing and shit. Cred Forums does it right with rules and limiting the speech, such as no doxing and things like that. Which is required.

And on top of that... What's gonna make it better exactly? You have to have a gimmick, but you don't understand that imageboards are by nature not profitable because of how they're designed. You're supposed to get on and shitpost and then leave. It's not a place like Reddit where you stay there and pay for gold. Just doesn't work. So, if Cred Forums can't make a profit, you ESPECIALLY won't. On top of that... Cred Forums will have to redesign the site to keep it profitable so there goes your idea of imageboards.

You can't win. Error: Our system thinks your post is spam. Please reformat and try again. (^:

Reducing the number of pages per board would probably go a long way

>1. Prune/merge some boards.
Definitely. Especially the NSFW ones. Lots can be combined. There's a bunch of hentai ones for no reason that can be covered in a general thread.

>2. Either kill the archive or lower it to a few hours instead of a week.
Why does it even have an archive? This isn't Reddit. Disrespects the whole point of an imageboard. Other sites do it for you. No one uses the shit archive anyways. Some type of aspie you must be to seriously use the archives.

>2.1. Don't archive pictures/videos, just text posts.
This is a good option if they refuse to remove the archives. MUCH better on the servers.

>3. Limit file sizes.
They're already limited. Maybe limit it more hardcore on some boards than others?

>4. Allow porn ads on porn boards.
I guess.

>5. Increase the allowable banner ad height (try to keep it 6. Package all resources into a single file (so it's 1 request instead of 5-10, for all of the JS and CSS files).
One request, but a pretty big fucking file which I'm sure causes issues on their end, but I'm no expert.

>7. More aggressive caching to lower bandwidth further.
Caching what exactly? The way the site works it'll do more harm to the server than good. Boards like Cred Forums are extremely fast and caching them would take more power than you'd save... No expert like I said, but that's what it seems like to me.

How about users can't arbitrarily upload images?

Use a tagging system and a cdn to make it easy to post the reaction images you want. If you have a Cred Forums pass, you can upload to the CDN and add more images. You could also format them so people don't post unnecessarily large images that don't really even have anything to do with the post.

great point but would there be a way to enforce this?

It would work for reaction images, but that's it.
Limiting the posting of images isn't a good solution, giving an easier alternative to uploading is.

Ban phone users from posting pictures. Saved an ass load of bandwidth. This is just a scheme from jap moot to get more cash just so you know. What would be interesting is to put user guides behind paywalls like the cooking guides/g sticky/jp's buy guides, that is the few things of value around here.

Not really.

Text does not cost as much as images, not close. On top of that, it's an imageboard. And the active content is 717 GB. Not that bad. Image limitations will lower that size a lot. Text posts won't really hit it that hard. Sure, it'll do some damage. I'm sure hundreds of posts per thread, per board, per second or so have an impact, but they already limit your posting time and the reply count in a thread. If you limit it more, you'll have more threads being recreated which I ASSUME have more impact on the servers than a reply to a thread.

I wish they'd release more in-depth information. Such as how many of the active content is what... I assume a lot of it is webm's... And more statistics will allow for a better way to judge what to do. I'm sure boards like Cred Forums and Cred Forums take up a lot of resources.

Says the tard which post a pepe with 522x590 with 340kb
Learn to optimize your images fucking faggot

Sure, it's already enforced, I assume. You can ask the robots, nicely, to fuck off, but most don't because they're cunts. That's why the sites you go to that archive this website always have viruses and dirty shit. They don't care to begin with.

I assume you can just ban them by IP... Or... I just got an idea.

Why don't we limit the speed and power for non-pass users? Right? Fixes the issue of normies and robots coming for Cred Forums memes or something... Seems like a good solution, but not too limiting of course, but noticeable.

how about NON INTRUSIVE, NON MALICIOUS ads before posting and in native gallery

For example, an ad loads below the QR and needs to be viewed before posting

An ad loads after X amount of pictures are viewed in the native gallery

>Some notice there are no more middle ads and bottom ads on Cred Forums.
Ads don't work well. So we reduced advertisement servers cost.
I don't understand this at all. Isn't this supposed to be the main source of revenue? Why would you ever want to get rid of these

>I wish they'd release more in-depth information
THIS

They should give detailed info about the situation so everyone here doens't have to guess at what to do to try and reach a solution

>I assume you can just ban them by IP... Or..
yeah, I'm sure they're going to start cracking down once Cred Forums starts to sink further

as for limiting service to non pass users, it's not a bad idea. The core idea I think is to drive away a large amount of worthless users. If the site shuts down for a while, this might actually help it a lot as it would disperse a lot of shit

1. No. That'll just spawn clones and fuck with everything. Cred Forums is FAR more advanced than people think.

2. Been done for a while. youtu.be/6KFz9WRRNpk Doesn't work.

3. No. People are autistic and don't donate as it is, especially the NEETs that are attracted to this site, so if you tell people how much money it makes they'll jerk off about how it's fine as is. It's not profitable. Period.

4. They already do. No one wants to pay. What ads?

5. He's not interested in a failing site.

6. You can't afford it.

Delete Cred Forums and the porn boards, problem solved

Kick out the FBI and require them to pay to access archives

SELL IT TO ME HIROSHINA NAGASAKI-SAN

I will give you 10 pesos and 3 tacos for this shitty reddit clone.

fucking hiroshima ruined it all for everyone.. its not worth going to ASP and IIS, what are you on m8?
im hosting a small private network on a raspberry pi cluster and shit is going so good, dont see why someone wouldnt implement that kind of shit

or even things like tor nodes, everyone gives their fucking bandwidth and some storage and viola, less money for servers.. than again, less money for that asian cocktard, fuck him

picture unrelated, i just dont like hiro

>believing there is a hiroyuki
>not knowing that jewt is still in charge
wew

if you got rid of Cred Forums you'd have to have a period of time with increased admin/janitor/moderator presence in order to get rid of Cred Forumsfags.

muh safe space

the problem with 8ch is something like a "subreddit effect"... where (because boards aren't fixed/limited) you've got a bunch of dopey little communities of fags who just circlejerk.

1. Calculate the image hash on the client side BEFORE it is sent.
2. Client gives image hash to server
3a. If the server already knows the image, it returns a link to the existing image (in the CDN)
3b. If the server doesn't know the image hash, it is uploaded as usual
Saves bandwidth from both uploads and downloads, and server-side processing time because images are cached by the CDN

problem is, client-side hashing is a bitch. even google just uploads everything.

Cred Forums is almost the same though, there are so many boards which barely move I don't even understand why they were created in the first place. You have a couple large "real" boards, then the containment boards and the major rest being basically useless.

While deleting them won't make the traffic issue go away because they're dead in the first place, I think boards which don't live should be culled after a while, it's just a fragmented mess.
