Thank you.

Good to see the correct thread format.

Here OP from last thread (), made a little something for ya.

Has anyone tried The MDR V55's with these earpads? ebay.com/itm/171829869529?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Is there any sound difference ?

Shouldn't be much of a sound difference. IIRC velour is the one that changes the sound quite a bit on many headphones. You're safe with that purchase.

Thanks for the info. I really like the look of these headphones as well as the sound but the fact that they're On Ear when they so easily could have been the vastly superior Over Ear is disappointing.

Are the AKG K72 any good?

just ordered them after waiting for a reply from the previous thread

So I've noticed my Bluetooth earphones actually sound much nicer with my new phone than the one I just upgraded from.

Both Bluetooth 4.0.

Is this placebo? Isn't the DAC and shit in the earphones?

youtube.com/watch?v=BR_Ug-1dZVU

what's with the hobo Tyll?

Can we all just report the shit thread so mods get around to deleting that instead of this one?

Can't find any measurements. Any specific reason why you're interested in them?

Already did.
Placebo? I dunno, but it's really hard to fuck up a DAC design. I don't think they're outright shit like some believe here.

I'm pretty sure it's placebo, just wanted to make sure.

Mids and treble was so weak on my nexus 5 but on my new chinkphone it's much more balanced and I don't need an eq anymore.

They're cheap and have good reviews, also AKG are a fairly decent and big brand known for their audio equipment

i also think they look better than most of sennheisers stuff and Sony's stuff

I'm not looking for an audiophile experience, just want them to sound decent and be able to hear different instruments alright

Fair enough.

Just be sure to get them from a store that has a good return policy in case you don't like it.

got them from amazon

hope their returns are good

Can't go wrong with amazon's return policy, it's one of the best.

Thank fuck for that

Open or closed?

I'm still following rekt syndicate and I was kind of interested in the review Logan did of the modded Fostex T50RP MK III.
Does anyone have experience with these at all?

Open - SHP9500, HD558

Closed - MDR-V6, MDR-7506, DT770 80ohm, XPT100

Heard a regular one a while back. It's alright.

By modded, are you gonna mod it yourself or buy it from someone that does the modding?

What the fuck is happening in the shitpost thread?

Someone's trolling Jakkasu.

The ones that he reviewed were modded by Mayflower Electronics. So, I was looking at those.
Price was kind of steep though. They were above $220.

110 USD on amazon, why not mod it yourself, ton of information available on Head-Fi and it'll be a fun project.

Guess I should have asked if they were better than say the HD 598

I guess I could. What exactly is involved with modding headphones and could I easily fuck something up?

Well I did heard the MKII, which is famous for being rolled off at both ends. Believe it or not the HD598 had more bass and treble than those headphones. Dunno how the newer MKIII fares.

The HD598 and HD558 are really safe staples.

Nice thread SJW wireless shill.

>someone posts the actual OP
>people spam nudes to get it banned
Degenerate monkeys.

I think I'll just go with the 598s then. Seems like a safe bet since they advertise the Mk. III as being flat.

It's mostly acrostic modding, you're not doing anything 'complex' like soldering. Most of the mods are reversible, so if you don't like the change in sound you can always undo it.

www.innerfidelity.com/content/diyers-delight-fostex-t50rp-mk3

But is the actual OP.

Anyway, please don't try to shit up this thread.

Honestly, they are quite bad and look cheap irl. I was going to buy them for films and gaming only, but they just sound too wrong.

My RE-400 arrives tomorrow.

What can I expect?

>acrostic

Don't reply to shitposters. Just ignore and move on.
No one else replied, follow their example next time

Alright, my bad.

It's cool. I got what you were saying.
Mayflower doesn't really do shit to their headphones.
Change the baffling and shit, ear cups and the cable. Not really worth $260.
I'm put off by the stock headphones already anyways.

I'm interested in buying them, but I fear they don't have a lot of durability. What do you know regarding that so far?

I've been told that it's not durable but I treat my shit like it's a baby, but I'll see on Monday.

Will post in the thread regarding my opinion of their build quality.

Maybe over-ear would have made it too bulky. Those new pads should last a lot longer too. And it's pretty cheap as well.

Who's that thicc godness

In that case, are you aware of a cheaper and more durable alternative to the RE400? I don't really want to risk my money if they break up.

If you can live with DEEP insertion, mk5.

I like it when my trans girlfriend is deep inside me

Is there a new equivalent to the takstar pro 80?

I bought a pair for 60 dollars over a year ago and I love them but apparently they've gone out of production and are now 150+.

I wanted to get another pair but I ain't paying 150 bucks for chink shit no matter how much I liked it.

Looking for a pair of headphones for video gaymen. $150 buck budget. Would like a removable auxilary cord for a boom mic

Get Balanced, it helps. XLR Connectors are Your Freind! That will lower your system noise by 6 dB - It Helps. After that, it's All About source, and for me, it's PC Audio, optical out to an Oppo HA-1, to Ballanced Headphones, namely BD DT 770s. But there's lots of flavors! Vynil?

wtf am I reading here

Only Dopes . . . get high. Listen: Professional Audio. That's the Best Sound There Is, right now. That's mostly digital at this point, BUT THEIR S/N RATIO IS ALWAYS >130Db!!! U can easilly do this with an Oppo HA-1, Here: oppodigital.com/headphone-amplifier-ha-1/

About to pull trigger on the Oppo pm3. Their reviews are incredible and they are very aesthetic in my opinion. Am I going to regret essentially wearing a 6700k and motherboard worth of money on my head for my flac trance music from rutracker?

The best Commander, Darjeeling.

Something something went camping, beard grew, liked it, becoming Santa in shopping centre.

Do it man. YOLO.

Why closed, though? If you're on your PC then open is the way to go.
Also, if you're wearing them for hours a day then I would get something that's more comfortable because they are heavier than dynamics and the pads are essentially on ear.

It's all money from my financial aid disbursement anyway. Niggers spend it on sub woofers for their cars, I don't have a car so I buy $400 headphones
I use my headphones on the bus and in the library at school often.

Just get a HyperX Cloud.

Stretch a bit and get Sennheiser GAME ONE.

Best gaming headset.

Does a better headphone even exist?

Every other headphone on the market

Lost my second pair of my Panasonic RP-HJE120's. Seriously best earbuds for the price I've ever used.

What are you using? What bluetooth earbuds would you recommend?

Stupid weeb

>Bluetooth earbuds
I don't get this. Why would you use these?

Bluetooth was a mistype. In general, what earbuds would you recommend for the price range (~$20)?

How do you accidentally type a whole word?

Well, I personally just use whichever ones I find laying around. Samsung earbuds have always served me well, but if I'm looking for quality, I don't usually bother with them.

>headbumps

Yeah, it's called the AKG K7XX.

Chink shit is your best option

That means Zircons, KZ ATE, Pistons, etc. Standard recs.

Just informing you.

Thanks. What does a DAC do that an amp doesn't? From what I understand, amps just make it louder, and DACs can change the color of the sound. is that right?

>18 ips

sorry for my natural hostility user

>What type of earbuds will last a long fucking time?

If you're using earbuds as just a general term, I'd say MA750s or RHAs might be a good start. Good build and has warranty.

I wouldn't be surprised if V moda Zn lasts a while too

I prefer to cycle through chink shit IEMs though

This sounds about suitable for the wireless thread.

PUFFY

How many of those are complaints about creating a new thread just trying to force a personal version of the OP?

And how much do you want to bet that there will be another thread made before the bump limit after the last few haven't been?

...

DAC stands for digital to analog converter, it converts the 1's and 0's into analog waveform which the headphones turn into sound. Amps and DACs can change how things sound, but only by a very small bit. There are some amps, like tube amps which are usually used to color the sound purposely.

Fiio k5 purely as an AMP yes no maybe?
mostly I like how it looks and people say it's neutral which I also like

what's the point of a dac then since all computer motherboards have one built in?

on board doesn't have signal out - it's always goes through internal amp
decent headphones need proper amp, and amping an amp is retarded

They do what they're called. DACs converts a digital signal, 0s and 1s, into an analog one, the music, and amps amplify that signal. Amps can sound different as a result of output impedance and tubes.

>DACs can change the color of the sound
Even if they did, it's inaudible. Kilobuck DACs are the biggest meme and does exactly the same thing as something like the Modi 2. To placebophiles (Head Fi), however, they think it sounds different. Most likely for rationalisation. These are the same people who think cables make a difference, so take ALL audio reviews with a grain of salt.

ips
>it was 18 files
user please.

You mean 36 IPs, don't you?

You fucking retard, Jakkasu.

How much better are the K7xx then the HD 558? I'm interested in the former but I don't think it's worth it because I'll have to buy an amp. Theres the Fidelio X2 as well but theyre twice the price of the 558.

HD598 > K702 > shit > K7XX

K7XX is not as flat as the HD558, I don't think it's better IMO. Many audiophiles seem to think it's a tier higher but that's just the pricing.

He is saying that because AKG products are highly showcased in Chinese cartoons.

Why do people want to upgrade from their HD558 so much? It's literally end-game tier sound. The only thing better is the HD600, and that's a very minor upgrade. Hell even the HD558 outperforms the HD800 and many $1000+ headphones.

Just be happy with what you have.

comfy, I r8 8/8

I have the KZ ED9, bought it for 12 dollars. It sound ALMOST as good as the Sony MDR XB90EX I bought for 89 dollars. The funny thing is the Sony IEM sound slightly better than the ATH M50 which cost almost double.

I heard the Piston 3 is better than KZ ED9 though, but I'm not sure. The only problem with the KZ ED9 is that it is more Bright and mid foward which kind of cause fatigue on my ears after a couple hours (2-3). The sony IEM doesn't have this problem, I can use it for 12 hours+ and the Sony has a cable which is flat and doesn't get tangled at all.

if you want neutral don't get MDR unless you need it for fucking studio shit. NVX XPT100/Brainwavz HM5 are more comfy and sound a little better. Better soundstage too.

M40X are good if you want a moderate V-shape, though the XPT100/HM5 both respond very well to EQ, and will be more comfortable by a huge amount.

Sony mdr a1 for portable jack of all trades? Budget is 150 €. Must be good for female vocals and have speedy bass for trance.

Since we're all a bunch of anime watching faggots, what's the best headphone for anime music, jpop, and anime eurobeat?

I wouldn't know, I don't watch anime.

Are those like the K712?

Stax Lambda system

I'm a huge fanatic of eurobeat and speed anime trance but for this genre I guess a 700 bucks headphone is a bit wasted. Not to mention those are probably too transparent and would sound boring with speedtrance.

>transparent = boring
This meme needs to stop. Electrostats are kings of the touge and cannot be defeated in speed.

I wonder what bkub's favourite eurobeat song is.

The only other headphones that fit the bill are Beyerdynamic DT 250, but they are even uglier.
Alternatively you could increase your budget and consider Oppo PM-3.

Does anyone have resources on fixing old headphones? [SKH-50 guy here]

I've been using these since around 2008 (christmas gift).

Wanted to get into more audiophile territory now. Was thinking about getting the HD650. How would they compare? What immidiate differences would I find?

You will finally know what treble sounds like.

Brainwavz S1 or Xiaomi Hybrids or SoundMagic E10?
Which one would be better? What if I want a more neutral sounding IEM?

I actually increased the treble and mid range by 4dB using equalizer APO

Does the hd650 give the same ammount of bass?

But the mods deleted all shitposts and linked shitpost threads?
I don't understand this

>Does the hd650 give the same ammount of bass?
Considering the fuckhuge bass arch on that headset, no.
Open dynamics don't really have much bass, apart from maybe the X2, which really is a midbass bump then subbass roll off.

Magni 2 or Fiio k5?
I'd buy o2/odac but they do not sell it here anywhere.

mayflower o2?

nope, no idea why
schiit is easy to buy, fiios are everywhere
can't buy odac
I think it's licencing related, the restrictions guy that designed it put on go too far

Pretty sure the ODAC and E10K have the same DAC so you're half way there

oh, i'd still need proper amp for hd600s
heck, I can't get away from buying schiit stack

Even the E10K is a good amp for the 600s.

The soundmagic is really v shaped so I would personally go with the Xiaomi

Any ideas on the Brainwavz S1?

>Well, it looks like I am done with /hpg/.
Don't ever come back, Jakkasu,

Never used it. Sound magic isn't bad by the way, it's just really v-shaped.

youtube.com/watch?v=mjd3m5sDG3s

is this /hpg/ incarnate right though? I'd like something neutral

thing is I have a semi decent DAC(xonar u7, I was ignorant and stupid back then) with terrible headphone amp
for now fiio k5 looks the most decent for it

>I'd like something neutral
The E10K is about as neutral as you can get.

I also have the creative fatality piece of shit headset and I actually really liked the sound, it was very warm, bassy and intimate thus very relaxing. Going from the fatality to the hd650 you'll be shocked, you may even think the new headphones will sound like shit, but you only need to get used to the sound. I had the hd598 and felt they were terrible at first, the sound was too different from what I was used to. Anyway, even after that I always felt the 598 lacked bass so I eventually bought a second basshead pair because thr 598 was not enough to cover all my musical genres..

Good luck.

>bought a second basshead pair
Which?

And no it won't have the same bass, not in amount, not in quality. Hd650 will have a very controlled bass with a decent punch but a short decay and rolled off sub bass.

>not in quality
The quality is pretty much shit tier on the fatal1ty

The head cusion of my M50 is falling apart and leaves white chunks of faux leather everywhere.

Good thing the MDRV6 don't have this problem

>rolled off sub bass.
How about adding a +5dB low shelf fitler around 60-80Hz?

wish I could listen to them all were I live
buying amp is much harder than headphones
I know exactly what I will get from hd600 coming from hd598s and I want it

In reality I don't care that much for balance but I don't want some shit like beats where it is focused on the bass, there is a variety of music I listen to including classical

what is the place to buy headphones for eastern Europeans?

I would buy them here 1a.lv/tv_audio_video_konsoles/audio_aparatura/datoru_austinas(a latvian store, dont know shiznit about poland)

The only other closed pair of headphones in that price range I can think of is the sony v6 and 7506

You can get a Sennheiser Game Zero which is a decent gaming headset
Fidelio X2

How about Xonar Essence STX + beyerdynamic T1 2nd Generation ?

T1 is not good, bad quality control, often times the treble is overbearing, and yes that's on the 2nd generation edition.

STX soundcard is fine. Consider another headphone. The T1 is open btw.

mayflower did just an OK job with the mk2, but I don't think mrspeakers is going back into modding, so no new mad dog. I would just try the mods yourself since there is no pro modder that has been proven to be the best yet.

>Fidelio X2
The sub bass doesn't seem to extend anywhere near as good as the dt990

dude, just buy the bulk packs next time. you're always going to want to have a 120 on hand, right? might as well save on several. I got the 125 myself recently. sounds nearly identical but it has one-button remote and mic so I can quickly mute/unmute or change tracks while I work.

I'm thinking about buying the AKG K240, looking for high fidelity for music and gaming, should i go with these or buy another pair?

Can you recommend any with 600 Ohm and same sound freq as T1? 5k-50k. or at least close to that freq

DT880 600 ohm is better than the T1. Nobody here will disagree with that statement.

ATH-M50's, DT 770 250 Ohm's

I recently had to refund my DT 770's because the right speaker started rattling, apparently because hair can easily get stuck on the speaker diaphragm. And from a quick search on google I can see it's a common issue, so I'd rather not get another pair and have it happen again. I don't want another pair of ATH-M50, because they don't fit my ear shape. The DT 770's were perfect comfort-wise.

Get a real weeb headphone.

HD600 or HD650?

yeah but I want them to sound good, though.

HD600: more neutral, better clarity
HD650: more bass, warmer sound, better stock cable

It's preference.

650 has better bass extension

If you really had to ask that question go with the 600s. 650s only fill a certain niche while you can tweak 600s to your liking.

Not true, when level matched at 200Hz they have the same bass roll off.

Sony MDR-7506

Tired of my Sony's pads flaking regularly, aftermarket pads affect the sound too much, I've spent thousands of hours with these headphones so I can detect when something alters the response a bit.

I also need a coiled cable, this is a super high priority.

Thinking about DT250 80ohm, anything else to consider. Not interested in heavy bass stuff like Meme50.

/csg/ wasn't any help. Are the specs on this headset good for the price? aliexpress.com/item/electronic-2015-brand-3-5mm-Original-Genuine-TAKSTAR-HI2050-Hi-Fi-Stereo-Headphones-Music-Headset-studio/32279127183.html

So I'm about to return my Shure SE215.

What would be the better alternative at the same price range, without overkill bass?
Momentum IN-EAR? Since it has somewhat similar sound to piston iii?

also does anyone has experience with RE-400, those also seem rather decent

I'm interested in buying them, and I have heard they have the best sound at that price, but they aren't very durable, so I have been considering buying the Shure SE215 instead. Is the bass really that bad? What about the rest?

Yeah its quite horrible, it cover other instruments.
Though if you like music like porcupine tree pain of salvation etc its good.

Fugg
Now I'm way more clueless as to what to buy.

Seems like the only options are the two we mentioned and the GR07 (which doesn't seem to be very durable either, but at least more than the re400, and is more v shaped).

Any other ideas?

Uhh not really sadly.
You could look for piston iii, which i was not able to find anywhere. They had awesome sounds, that is until I dropped them.

The gooks started production of hybrid and put an halt to piston iii, the hybrid could also be and option though it also has nigger bass apparently.

theheadphonelist.com/earphone-buyers-guide/

Found a store selling them
geekbuying.com/item/New-Original-Xiaomi-Smartphone-Piston-II-In-Ear-Earphones-Wire-Control-Mic-for-iPhone-iPod-Android---Black-343327.html

Dunno if they're legit though, not many negative review so might be.

I prefer to buy them on a shop instead of ordering online, so the Hybrids are my only choice regarding the Xiaomis.
Have you looked at the Brainwavz S1? Headphone List has it at a very high sound quality value for it's price, and they seem to do well according to headphone frequency responses, but I'm still not sure.

What kind of music do you listen to, i mean the shure's might be OK for you, depending on the genres you listen to? Electronics and maybe hip-hop is pretty much what those shures are made for, atleast from my point of hearing.
Can you go and test them out in a store?

I personaly I could not handle the way they made metal sound like.

~QUESTION~
I have the Cloud and XBA-H1 headphones. I'm in the market to upgrade my experience. Both headphones are EXTREMELY fatiguing to the point of not being able to listen to more than a full album at a time with out being sick of it.

Which price point and it's respect headphones do you gents think is the sweet spot for value or price to experience/performance?

I'm tempted to say that the Dt770/880/990 at their current low prices offer the best value. What do you guys think?

I'm not talking about a specific headphone but a price range and the headphones available in it. For example, with GPUs, the best performance to dollar can be found in the 200-250 range.

200-300 jewros
I personaly can shill for hd-650 and hifiman 400i

I listen to everything (classical, traditional folk, experimental rock, pop, edm, etc), so I guess a flatter response would be a "jack of all classes" or however the saying goes like.
I would prefer not to try them to go to the store with a decided mind.
If I need more bass, I could just boost them through an EQ anyways, right?
Also, did you look into the Brainwavz S1?

The 990 is extremely fatiguing. Ear piercing treble

>Brainwavz S1
Yeah seems quite good for the price, though sites say that is bit bass heavy, which I'm bit phobic now of.

>If I need more bass, I could just boost them through an EQ anyways, right?
Yes to some extend, not much though. It's harder to remove the bass, atleast on my shures it made the highs horrible.

On those genres I think the re-400 seems good, being rather neutral with slight bass increase. Though I have not given them a listen so cant say much.

I'm really used to my 'desktop headphones' the he-400i so I have to find something that sounds simiar to it. I suppose it will be the same for you, so the brain does not have to get 'used' to two vastly different sounding sources(?)

superlux hd 681 evo
superlux hd 669

takstar hd2000

maybe, but you won't notice, it still thumps hard and low, the extension just looks less because of the hump. besides the x2 is a v-shaped headphone that is actually fairly balanced and tolerable, the opposite of the 990 which is extremely v-shaped and ear-rapey.

>125 uses the same drivers
plastic shell is a bit different. or it could just be down to driver variance. to me the 125 sounds like it has a slightly higher upper-mids/treble peak than the 120. like a few db difference at most. might be down to the tips too, I think I canged the ones on my old 120, not sure.

doesn't the k240 measure extremely similar to the 668b? those sound fuller with more low-end heft than the 598 to me.

600s, it can be just as warm with eq, and the treble extension and eveness is much better, making the "veil" pretty much unnoticeable where on the 650 its kind of obvious imo. plus there are a lot of good warm headphones, headphones with the kind of upper-mids into highs even-ness of the 600 are rare, even in the kilobuck range.

my motherfucking negro, good taste. they seem to last longer than skullcandy or sony

>What's your guilty pleasure /hpg/?

I think 681-evos are really damn good if you're ok with the ammount of bass. they're one of the best bass head headphones imo.

I'm not entirely sure, but it sounds more airy in general. Like-- subtly.

the k240? probably because it doesn't have the veil the 598 has. I noticed that on my 668b too. the high end is nowhere near as even as the 598 but it still sounds airy-er.

I have ATH m40x and SE215 powered off a fiio e07k and the 215s aren't that bad. I have had the 215s since they came out and still use the stock cable.
They sound fine honestly. The bass IS pronounced but it doesn't overpower any other frequencies.
I can hear everything just as well as with my m40xs, just not as relaxing of a sonic signature.

One thing I may add as a disclaimer:
I have played instruments in an orchestral setting for 10 years, and I sit around the lowest instruments and play the lowest woodwind parts.
Basically, I am used to having to listen a little harder for higher frequencies, I believe that may be why I find that the 215 sounds so natural.

the e10 is less v-shaped than the hybrid

Etymotic MK5

I posted this a couple days ago, but what I really want to know is if the HF5s are the best upgrade to the MK5s or if there is another brand that I should be looking at. To be honest though I love the sound isolation my MK5s provide.

More specifically someone had linked some sort of impedance thing to plug them into to make them sound pretty much like the ER4's. I'm looking for that.

HF5 is less neutral than MK5 since it has less treble but the treble is smoother. The HF5 is also more sensitive, so it gets louder compared to the MK5 on the same source.

If you're looking at isolation and neutral sound quality, you can't beat Etymotic. As for whether the HF5 is an upgrade to the MK5, I think it's a sidegrade at best. Maybe you'll like it better or not. I prefer the HF5, I think the MK5's treble is a bit harsh.

Any 75-100ohm resistor adapter will give it a sound similar to the ER-4S. Note that ER-4S shares more in common than MK5 than HF5. Cheap aftermarket adapters can be found on ebay.

It's not a direct upgrade. Low/mid sensitivity is improved, but with an upper frequency roll off.
You can remedy the roll off with an impedance adapter, which basically makes it an ER-4S. That butchers the sensitivity by about 10-15 dB and isn't something that can't be done better by EQ.
You could do something similar with some eartip swaps and dampers on the MK5.

>some sort of impedance thing to plug them into to make them sound pretty much like the ER4
You are just mucking around with electrical damping/voltage attenuation. The adapter value will be around 75 ohms, 100 ohm value doesn't really change that.

AKG K702

Isolation isn't my top priority, what I'm looking for is a good headphone for gaming and general use when isolation is needed. I have an Antlion Modmic 4.0 unidirectional which I'd like to attach to a closed headphone. The closed headphones I'm oriented to are the Beyer DT770 80 Ohm and the ATH M40X. How do they perform on gaming? Do they provide a decent isolation, is sub-bass good on them? I'd like a closed headphone that lets me hear a bit of what I'm saying to the mic, then I'm not looking for a super-good isolation.
My K702 are superb heapdhones and frankly I doubt that any other headphone on its price range can beat it both in gaming and in general use. The reasons why I'm looking for a closed headphone are the following ones:
1) I'm afraid that if I attach the Antlion modmic to my K702 it might change its sound somehow.
2) is Antlion modmic's support magnet removable? I don't want my K702 to have a magnet on it for all its lifetime.
3) the modmic might catch the sound coming from the K702, since it's an open headphone.

modmic won't do anything bad to your headphones. getting the magnet off the grill completely clean might be a chore, but it's completely removable. since you don't actually need isolation I would either stick with what you have, or get the 558, do the foam mod, and stick the modmic on there. 598 is my go-to gaming headphone.

What do her thighs smell like bros?

>You could do something similar with some eartip swaps and dampers on the MK5

could you give some more detail? I want to jump into ety and the mk5 seemed like a good place since it's cheap. also, couldn't I just relax the highs with eq?

What else other than darjeeling tea

>More specifically someone had linked some sort of impedance thing to plug them into to make them sound pretty much like the ER4's.
And someone said it was audiophile placebo shit. Now you're looking into it? Jesus christ.

Bump, we need a new thread with the full OP.

you were leaving jakkasu, fuck off already.

ok. My fear is that the modmic might change the sound since it covers a little part of the headphones' grill.
> HD558
it's still open, it won't help much.

her pussy mound is really plump

if you really need isolation get an xpt-100 then. dt700 you might like for music but I would not use it for gaming. m40x would be better but you might as well get the xpt-100 if you're just going to be sitting at your desk, they're on the same level of neutrality and good audio positioning (for a closed headphone), but they're more comfortable.

>since it covers a little part of the headphones' grill.

as long as it's not directly behind the driver you should be fine, and even then it's not the magnet that will change the sound, more just a physical thing causing reflections and such. looking at my 598 now, there is enough buffer plastic "bezel" space to attach the modmic without touching the grill.

Fiio e10k

smsl sap2 sounds the same as o2
or so they say, shoot me but I think all DACs sound the same
amps obviously have differences but you can't pull out anything from DAC chip that other chip doesn't do the same

this pic for example is retarded, that's not how function works
and all of misunderstandings come from this kind of logic

BUT, there is driver and features issue
some dac must have perfect drivers to work good some just work
and feature list is just your personal preference

Isn't that graph just sampling rate? or bit depth?

yes, and that's not how it works there is not actual steps
and people think more steps is better or whatever or that vinyl has smooth graph but digital goes into steps
digital to analog goes according to laws of physics and materials used in the chip are the same everywhere, fab standards are the same, design is the same(for the actual dac chip)
and there is what? 2 or 3 chip makers that design audio logic in the world? everyone else just takes their stuff and up sells it

if you really want to spend $200+ on separate stuff
schiit stack or o2/odac or smsl sanskrit/k5(not sure you can buy the last one) it wouldn't matter except for features and looks
even all these amps sound the same

>Fiio e10k
I don't know if I have a faulty one or if my headphones are way too sensitive (or just shit in general) but there's noticeable channel imbalance at low volumes. Because I can't go very high on the volume knob before destroying my ears, I highly recommend getting headphones with average to low sensitivity for the e10k

impedance of your headphones probably too low or maybe you got faulty knob they get imbalance sometimes
also did you by chance forget to switch it to low gain?

They are 32 ohm impedance headphones and ofcourse it's set to low gain. I bought them from amazon uk in february so I have no idea how warranty works in this case if I have a faulty knob

Fucking dammit, bought the akg k72's

Arrived today, they sound like shit, like a have a wet flannel over my ears, all bassy and tinny, vocals sound shitty

Gonna return them and probably just keep resoldering my motorhead phones

Are the sennheiser momentum m2 in ears any good before I bother retrying my crappy soldering?

They sound about as good as my £7 Sony in ear monitors, I'm so fucking pissed

Don't see how the cloud is fatiguing. Theyre pretty tame. Beyer's won't be any better at all. Highs hurt on some models. If you're okay with open, 558's might do well. Rolled off highs and fairly tame bass. For closed, NVX XPT-100 might work. Neutral and comfy.

The sweet spot for headphones seems to be 100 - 150 USD
good mid-tier senns and beyers are in that range, with a massive range of other options

though then again there is another higher sweet spot at around 200-300 with HD600's, some hifiman's and other cool stuff

Why do I read on forums that the E10K sounds "sterile" or not as good as the more expensive amps.

Is that just placebo or is there something to it?

some people say it does other say it's just as neutral as it gets

Because it doesn't color the sound in any way

So what's the point of the more expensive amps?
Loudness?

To power beasts like planar magnetics and eletrostatic headphones

How is the E10K with the HD600's and HD650's?

250-600 ohm headphones

The e10k will power the 250 ohm version of the beyerdynamics like it's a baby's headphone

It's fine. Reaches 110db SPL. Some people will say it isn't enough because it should reach 115db spl

>more just a physical thing causing reflections and such
yes, that's exactly my suspicion. K702 has large cups but the grills cover them almost entirely, thus there aren't real safe spots of plastic.

I can find the XPT 100 nowhere in Italy, is it exclusively available in the US? I heard a lot of people saying that the m40x aren't really comfortable, which is why I'm leaning towards the DT770 80 Ohm.

> you might like for music but I would not use it for gaming
what do you mean? It looks like DT770 measure pretty well and I know that they're used in most recording studios nowadays.

pretty sure both the 880 and 990 give better soundstage for gaming

Both DT880 and DT990 are open though and I doubt that they're better than K702.

> soundstage
I don't really care for that. What I mostly care for is an overall accurate sound for pin-pointing the positions of people/things during the game.

>What I mostly care for is an overall accurate sound for pin-pointing the positions of people/things during the game.
Exactly. The 880 is semi open and most likely the best one for both your needs. The 880 is the most neutral of the three

soundstage aids with imaging massively

Most stock tips on the Ety MK5 limit the bandwidth. An example using the Westone Star sleeve for comparison. Note that the 20 kHz extension is a product of the 2nd canal resonance.
Etymotic decided not to install filters into MK5. Acoustic filters can attached to control some of the peaking the MK5 has.
>couldn't I just relax the highs with eq?
Yes.

Measurements:
cymbacavum.com/2015/05/12/etymotic-mk5-isolator-reborn/
innerfidelity.com/images/EtymoticMk5.pdf [grey Etymotic foam]

The graph represents the waveform, amplitude with respect to time.
The graph can be considered a halfway truth. It's not totally wrong, but real converters cannot produce the square impulse. You wouldn't want to either, and the discontinuous jumps represent the incomplete result. The DAC puts out a continuous waveform as you would expect it to.

does amazon not ship to Italy?
also check for the Brainwavz HM5. Essentially the same, slightly more expensive.

What version of 770 are these?

Beyerdynamic Manufaktur red plastic part. Someone Frankensteined it. Maybe that plastic bit broke.

There's an LTD 80ohm version too and it's almsot 100€ more expensive than regular

New thread.

Dude, I don't need one more open headphone, I already have the K702. DT880 has the same problems as the K702: I'm forced to attach the modmic to its grill and hinder the sound coming out from it.

yes and imaging depends on the neutrality/accuracy of the headphone.

Amazon.com doesn't ship to Italy. I can get a DT770 80 Ohm Pro for new at 120€.
