Just bought this for $100 on Craigslist

Just bought this for $100 on Craigslist.

>Cooler Master FAH case
>Intel i7 2.67ghz with water cooler
>2 radeon HD 5970 graphics cards
>asus p5q pro turbo
>12gb ram

The only downside is the hard drives were missing so for now I have a really shitty 80GB drive that's ancient in there. It was some old guy selling it, I wonder if it was his NEET son's or something. I could sell it for $500 easily.

So how did I do? Good deal or no?

It's not an i7 and it's worthless. You paid about what you should have with two 5970s, but since you're retarded they're probably 5790s or something.

It's definitely an i7 i wasn't sure about the motherboard though.

LMAO I was right. They are 5700s. i7 is no doubt a 920 or worse, an 1156 i7.

I don't know what those numbers mean but it runs Fallout 4 with the graphics all the way up and now I can do multiple monitors.

Holy fuck my torrents are downloading at 10 mb/s too this is cool.

download speccy and post results

You bought a stolen computer, bro

did this box belong to someone named alex?

I swear to god i've seen that box before.

What is that shit a case for ants?

Just a hunch but I think it is you should dump it as the only reason it would be sold with no disks for $100 would be because the owner found a hardware bug in it lol.

Itty bitty

>as the only reason it would be sold with no disks for $100 would be because the owner found a hardware bug in it lol.
No, it's because it's nearly decade old hardware that's worthless.

It's not a p5q pro, that board looks totally different

asus.com/Motherboards/P5Q_PRO/

K.

Nope. They mass produced a shitload of them though.

I don't think the guy selling it had ever even turned it on. Worst case scenario, I sell it to someone dumber than me for more money than I paid for it.

I was wrong about the board see pic.

>Cooler Master FAH case
>Intel i7 2.67ghz with water cooler
>2 radeon HD 5970 graphics cards
>asus p5q pro turbo
>12gb ram
that doesn't look decade old to me

But it's still 5770s and an i7-920. It's worthless.

The 920 came out in 2008 and the 5770s came out in 2009, smart guy.

I vote this

This shitbox worth about $50.

You got fucked, OP.

breddy gud for $100. If I were you, I'd blast it with some compressed air, put a new CPU cooler in, maybe do some cable management, and turn around and sell it for $600

>71°C
>with only chrome and deluge open
running pretty hot for a water cooled cpu

>miley cyrus nightcore
>how to take a screenshot
>cuck porn

... is this bait?

>and turn around and sell it for $600
No one is going to buy it OP, stop replying to yourself.

$600?

What shithole you live in where this decade old setup is worth $600?

$350, OP, that's a good flip.

Cred Forums needs to make ID's mandatory on all boards.

It's ancient bait but someone still falls for it every time.

One where not everyone is such a turbo nerd that they can identify the name and age of every computer part they lay eyes on.

Forgive me for being a phone shitter

you think anyone interested in buying this hunk of nerd shit isn't going to be able to at least google the parts and see it's old af?

i think people on here need to learn to differentiate between "bait" and "jokes"

Do they also not know how to use a search or have any congestive brain functions? For $100 if you wanted a spare shitbox to mess around in, not bad. But if you're trying to flip it, good luck making any more than $50 off of it.

I un ironically listen to nightcore so that might just be a real tab.

>i7-920
>worthless
Bitch please, that thing is glorious.

Honestly OP I think you should re-apply the thermal compound. Bloomfield may run a little toasty, but with an water cooler it shouldn't be that hot.

As someone that tossed his i7-920 for a 6600k last week. No. It really isn't anymore.

>Bitch please, that thing is glorious.
I don't care what you think about it. You can buy them for a few dollars, they're worthless.

>don't care what you think about it
And no one cares what you think about it.
>its cheap so that means its worthless!!
Heres your (You)

It literally has no worth, are you autistic?

I think you did all right, OP. Especially if it runs what you want.

You might want to look at throwing a higher-clocked Xeon in there if the board will support it. If your 920 won't overclock well, you can get a 3.2GHz W5580 on eBay for dirt cheap and run with it.

Yes the Nehalem era stuff isn't as fast or as power-efficient as the latest and greatest, but it's not THAT far off. You can still do good with it.

I didn't do any of that.

Congestive brain functions would describe a stroke, so I certainly hope not.

You're the autistic one, unable to see how something has value beyond a dollar amount.

Can't hurt, I'll give it a go.

You're the reason Intel releases new processors every year.

1366 is the shit
throw a x5650 for $50 on there, oc that shit and you're set

fairly hot for an AIO cooler, but aside from that looks like a good deal OP

I know in NZ on my local buy sell page I could probably sell it for $350ish

not the deal of the century but a good deal

I don't care what value is has beyond a dollar amount because I'm trying to tell OP he's a retard for paying for it and a retard for thinking he'll sell it for any amount of money. Isn't not being able to consider context a sign of autism?
Nigga how? I'm still using Sandy Bridge.

I bought it to use my old computer actually was a decade old.

The case alone still retails for $60. Even if every other component was only worth 5 bucks I still came out ahead.

Was this in dallas? Was the old dude asian? This looks remarkably similar to one of my neet friends machines.

fucking neet spent $3000 of his tuition money on it and played vidya instead of going to classes

No. I don't the guy selling it knew much about it, which made me assume it was his son's or something.

This isn't bad advice at all OP, you should do this.
You did good man, I would have bought it as well if I had a similar deal.

I can buy all that shit next paycheck now I have a project for a few weeks too. I should also get some hard drives.

>running pretty hot for a water cooled cpu
Cheap H-series Corsair AIO's don't really cool things as good as a proper closed-loop system or their higher end AIO's, they're more for convenience and systems where airflow or space for a giant Noctua or Scythe cooler is nonexistent

What were your computer specs before you got this one?

Older than dirt with an i5, intel onboard graphics, 2 gigs of ram and an 80 GB hard drive that is in my new computer right now until I order some drives.

considering that case is a bretty gud case he made a good deal.

Woah, so decent upgrade I guess!

I recommend that you clean out the case and organize the cables (Re-apply thermal paste to both the GPUs and CPU)

Get a Xeon like those guys said, or if not just leave the CPU how it is, and MAYBE OC if you feel like it. That i7 should be good enough for anything that you throw at it.

Good parts and if you burn media for backups etc those Plextor drives are worth having. Newer drives are often poorly built.

Case is as good as it ever was. It ain't hurt and is reusable for future builds. I rather like large desktops for convenience of adding storage and general ease of upgrade. The space isn't an issue for me.

Cred Forums hates anything not the latest tech unless it's a Thinkpad. That PC is quite capable so if it's faster than what you have, use the fucker.

Plan was to buy individual parts for it as the new stuff goes down in price. I'm semi-poorfag so I don't get tons of new goodies very often, but it's a lot easier to buy an individual component and swap it out now that I have a solid base.

Thanks for all the recommendations, everyone except that one guy.

>i7
>2.6 GHz

um....

Man honestly clean it and re-apply thermal paste then, don't get the Xeon. Get a SSD like the MX300 for boot and a 1TB Blue for mass storage.

Save up money ($60 a month or something like that) and then get everything at once.

This PC should still be good enough for whatever you want to do with it, no need to really *upgrade* it.

And no problem, my pleasure.

Enjoy your $100 housefire. Just kidding, you got an OK deal. Pic related, almost identical cpuboss scores. Got it second hand a couple years ago and also run a i7 Broadwell mobile (Transformer book). Top score for proper Cred Forums screenposting.

Clean and fix that shit up. It should not be 71C...

I wouldn't pay more than 20 bucks for that piece of shit. It's years out of relevance.

Underage pls go

Cooling and GPU's may be shit and shit-tier, but he still bought $100 or a tad more worth of computer, for $100. Maybe I would've been looking for just CPU/mobo, maybe with a little temporary RAM combo if I was going for a new machine. Some people Goodwill. Some people build. You meme, and can fuck right off.

Sent from my Phenom II X4 840.

>he thinks everyone is smart
This is why you're poor

I think you did okay. You could easily sell the case for $50 or more, and you can slap a Xeon x5650 in it for even better performance. It's no performance rig anymore, but it definitely will get the job done for you for $100. On eBay, a fucking Optiplex 760 goes for like $80 on Buy It Now, which is fucking trash. Enjoy it OP.

If that's a 920 then the mobo and cpu alone could be worth 150

Cheapest lga1366 x58 motherboard you`ll find on a regular basis is the DX58SO for 100-120$, 920`s go for around 25$. There are some dual socket motherboards you can get for a lot less, but then give up the overclocking option.

It`s not a bad deal at all, really. Get the temps under control and get it to 3.2-3.6ghz and he`ll have slightly better cpu performance than an FX8350. It`s especially decent if he got one of the boards that actually has Sata 6Gb/s ports. Which is does not appear as thought it does.

i7 [email protected] here.

I DID consider upgrade but after some review it not even worth it.

That's a great buy. I'm still running this and looking to upgrade. Hope I can get a deal like your's and just put my drives in.

For $100 vs $1000 for new setup is a great deal!

well I guess for $100 you didn't get completely ripped off, but all that shit is like 6 years old. You couldn't sell it (to an informed customer) for $500.

>I don't know what those numbers mean
>but it runs Fallout 4 with the graphics all the way up and now I can do multiple monitors

well looks like you made a good purchase buddy, enjoy your new gaming pc.

1156 i7s are stronger. Also it's first generation on lga 1366, because second gen lga 1156 i7s didn't come at 2.6ghz. Only i5 did

CPU (840) and 785GT were $60 or $70 shipped with some RAM. PSU new (then) with the guts, and from 12 months ago to 2 months ago: 4TB seagate, 120GB silicon power, GTX 950, 8GB OCZ goldfast edition, 4TB HGST.

Loonix vm's, shitposting, winamp 2 visualizers, daemons/media server shit, bittorrent, general AVR/stereo/anime. Need to take the WD Black TB out, it's kinda fucking hot right now and the case is a foot from my bed so I only run one fan in it.

Comfy enough and doesn't slug around desu

different user here, it sounds like my area.
People are trying to sell nothing but 6 year old prebuilts with no graphics cards or anything in it for $100.
Only twice Ive seen an acceptable "gaming" computer put up for sale, and it was just old shit that they were trying to get their money back for so that they could upgrade EVERYTHING

They do the same thing for cars. Pic related is what my craigslist feels like.

dipshit bought some meth/heroine addicts stolen goods.

Admit it OP, you knew that PC was most likely stolen goods. Don't try and legitimize it by claiming otherwise.

No parent would sell something of value to spite their brat kids.
