Batics and such

Hey Cred Forums, next year I will be going on a trip to the baltic area (i am referring to the region in a geographical manner finns pls no bully). Here is my itinerary:

Helsinki, 3 days
Tallinn, 3 days
Riga, 4 days (need the extra day for a project)
Vilnius, 3 days

I would like to hear some tips, local must-sees and such from the mouth of the locals. I already know some stuff but mostly food related (try raindeer and licorish in Finland, smoked salmon in estii, beer in Riga etc) and I wanted real tips.

You mean salmiakki.

Oh hello there lithuania. I like how your language is very close to proto-indoeuropean

Yes, sorry about the little mistake. I was rold to try some and also look for some salty ones, that right?

Yes hello

See Trakai castle.
Go inside of Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, in Vilnius.
Go to the cathedral in Vilnius and Gediminas castle.
See Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, Vilnius
See The hill of crosses

fuck off

Nice. I will keep those in mind already. Any local foods or restaurants worth checking? Im a fat fu/ck/.

Cepelinai also they make amazing kibinai in Trakai also they should have šaltibarščiai in most lithuanian restaurants

Salmiakki does look very similar to liquorice but it's much saltier and tastes fairly different. Different brands also can taste very different. My favorite brand is en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apteekin_Salmiakki which is pretty much sold only in drug stores. Other traditional and strange candies you might want to try are Sisu brand candy (the packaging looks kinda like it says Gifu) and Tervaleijona. Tervaleijona is a tar flavored candy. Of the sweet candies en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pihlaja is my favorite brand.

You might also want to try cloudberries ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubus_chamaemorus ), or cloudberry jam which might be easier to come by. Cloudberries are often eaten with en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leipäjuusto and you should also try different types of breads that you might not find back home, especially black rye breads and the crisp bread. Other foods you might want to try are all sorts of meat pies that they sell at market squares, bakeries or shops, kukko which is a basically a bread with all sorts of stuff baked inside, like fish or my favorite potatoes, pork and rutabaga. Karelian pies are nice too, especially with boiled eggs and butter.

I don't know any good places to go in Helsinki, I have visited the place probably two or three times, but you should definitely find a proper Finnish sauna to go to. You should probably get a Finn to escort you though so you don't screw up your sauna etiquette.

Thanks for the tips. I will write them down to make sure I wont forget it.

Now I need an Estonian and a Latvian.

Also try out Tinginys and Šakotis they are both amazing though the ones they sell in stores are pretty bad and I am not sure if they sell them in restaurants, bakeries might have them though.

I have heard Finnish and Estonian girls are god tier.

You heard wrong. Eesti grills are god tier. Finnish girls are goblin tier.

biggest mistake of your life

Is Cili kaimas still in Vilniaus senamiestis? The Cepelinai there were great!

Not quite goblin tier, but definitely not as fun as Eesti grill-id

OP here, back again.

Can you give me some stuff on Tallinn? I promisse I will spend loads of money on tourist tat and make Estonia richer!

Danish user is rare.

what exactly are you interested in and in what timeframe?

I really liked a restaurant called KID in Riga

I liked the Baltic capitals better than Helsinki; Riga and Vilnius in particular (but that may be because I didn't get to see much of Tallinn)

I need to go to sleep, have work tommorow very early. If anyone sees a latvian coax them into talking please.

I like food and history. Any historical buildings and old restaurants are OK. Beautiful churches and cafés are also ok. I will be visiting it for 3 days in july as I said. We will be going around the city during the entire day util 9pm I think. If possible I would also love to hear a reccomendation for local delicasies and a plce for breakfest (Since our hotels dont have it included.

Ohhh... that looks posh. I like it. Will write it down.
