I'd say society respects me and my decision to not work. I receive benefits and am not shamed when I tell people I have no job.

However, my family shames me constantly and makes me feel bad. My dad for example smears ketchup round my lips before I wake up then tells my family 'look everyone, he has blood on his mouth from leeching off of us'.

Its not fair. I am not a LEECH, I work hard at home and try to inspire my family with new ideas that I have picked up during the day. Why should I waste my mind working?

If NEETs are so happy why do they always talk about their depression?

People who end up as NEETs are often depressed to begin with. There's also the section of extroverts, normies and losers who can't cope with not slaving away their life.

Personally I feel like shit either way but I feel much worse when I'm working or in school, since I'll be worrying about the future etc. As a NEET I just don't give a shit.

They expected to get a job doing all sorts of creative shit and got an unpleasant surprise when they ended up peeling potatoes after their three year educations. The people who make it in the restaurant business are those who can work in intense heat for long hours, have thick skin and understand that the chain of command is like the russian army.
