Reading american cookbook

>reading american cookbook
>1/4 cups of water

WHAT THE FUCK IS SHTI NIGGAS

On your taste.

dumb frogposter

>this confuses and angers the European

The American obsession with cups knows no bounds.

>americups

Doopin mental!

Just take your 1/4 cup measuring cup, and fill it up with water

>seems inefficient

Looks extremely autistic desu

cups triggers me more than their date system

Be thankful we don't measure volume in Big Gulps

>add 1/3 of your 1/4 cup of sugar...

literally had to google this SHIT while i was making dinner now

>find a cup, any cup
>fill cup to top. this is 1 cup of water
>now find another cup
>fill cup from the full cup until its fullness is equivalent to the fullness of the cup with which you have commenced the filling of the cup which is not the cup with which you started filling cups
>now find another cup
>having selected an arbitrary cup of the cups which into which one has previously decanted the aqueous substance, take the cup which you have selected and partly pour its contained liquid into the empty cup which you selected before selecting a cup that contained water until such time as the quantity of water in the immediately aforementioned cup and the cup immediately mentioned prior to the mention of the immediately aforementioned cup could be reasonably said to be equivalent
>this is 1/4 cups of water

how does this country even continue to function desu

Senpai there's literally a system

See? Don't be anal retentive about the name of the measuring system.

How stupid are you? If it says 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of milk and 10 cups of shit, or whatever american eat, it means "mix that shit in 2:1:10 proportions", exact amount will depend on the size of your actual cups.

They do it this way bacause Americans cannot into fractions.

do all americans have this in their house

We use (metricated) cups too mate, just giving the ESLfags some practice

Of course we do. What else would we have?

We also all have a set of these.

If you do that with certain things they don't cook all the way through before burning the surface

>exact amount will depend on the size of your actual cups.

What the fuck is wrong with Europeans

1/4 cup = 250/4ml = 62,5ml jesus user its simple...

Relax, it's not that exact. And you can always start with smaller proportions and add from there until you get what you want.

>cup
>oz

>oz.
Why are you guys so weird? No one likes you.

HOW DO YOU KNOW 1/5 CUP WITH THAT???
WHAT A CRAPPY PRODUCT LET'S BRING A CLASS ACTION NOW

Just use 1/4 cup

Recipe books are written with standard sizes in mind, you'll never see 1/5 cup

are you a lawyer

measure out 1/3 and then remove 1/8

no recipe ever asks for that anyway

I never seem to have enough honestly

>Oz

NEET with a STEM degree

>this confuses and enrages the European

Honestly these are pretty convenient for measuring small quantities with precision.

1 cup is ~2.5dl so 1/4 cups of water is just a bit more than half a dl. If you like doing international recipes I strongly recommend getting your self a 1-cup measuring cup.

No it doesn't, we have the same thing.

kek why do you have all these randoms meassures? lmao americaninos

Because converting to please Euros and Third worlders is too expensive for it to be worth it

I just use a Pyrex measuring cup for liquids and these for solids.

>be canadian master race
>able to effortlessly switch between cups and litres

>Pyrex
>not using glass so that retards who put it in the microwave will learn from their mistakes

yeh i understnad that now will be a big deal but like, when you start doing that shit... why? why did you that?

Do europoors really get triggered by these haha

When the Brits standardized their measurement system

We were a Bong colony and adopted their system

>his country was a colony

...

England started out as an Anglo-saxon colony desu

>his country was the colony of a colony

Aren't all countries colonies of colonies of colonies of some lighter-skinned negro, though?

Spain was a Roman colony

I have one of those but for tsp/ml

The lighter skinned negroes didn't come from any country though, so it doesn't count. This is Cred Forums, only cuckoldry and country roleplaying are valid.

Egypt, mate. WE WUZ

Measuring by volume instead of weight makes it easier to scale
Quit being retarded

Homestly its pretty nice. Everythimg is in cups, liquids, solids, anything. So ee dont have to waste time measuring something precisely or weighting something (nobody has cooking scales almost).

Also as far as Canada goes its pretty weird. We use cups, ml and farenheits to cook mostly. But we use Celcius for weather and all our packaging is in metric. We learn height and weight in feet and pounds, but everybody knows what a gram and a centimeter is anyway.

Basically we know both.

Lastly, we dont use dl and cl, only ml and liters.

>reading american cookbook
doesn't seem like a good idea

>triggered

stupid memeword. it's just annoying when trying to follow a recipe and such a silly measurement appears and we have to convert

why can't you guys just use normal things like a real first world country

>his country was colonized by a group of stateless cucks

spain was unironically a muslim caliphate for a long time

I'd say the only units most people (young ones anyway) yknow fuckall about are gallons, ounces and yards.

Not used at all anymore and only old people known them.

Also do Europeans use hectares?

>Also do Europeans use hectares?
Yeah.

idk what a hectare is 2bh

a big area

10000 square meters.

often used for landsize.

It's a unit measure of land that's mostly used for properties outside the city. When you buy a house for example, it's nice to have at least a hectare of land around it for privacy and such.

1/100 of a square kilometer

>land around your house
>in the uk

lmao guess that's why i've never heard of it

>Also do Europeans use hectares?
It's a metric unit. - 100m x 100m

>Recipe requires half a teaspoon of something
>Instead of putting it in a normal teaspoon until said spoon is half full, buy a spoon half the size of a teaspoon thanks to mindless consumerism

How are Americans capable of wiping their asses unassisted?

Oh, Wait...

having to actually measure things is too hard

Literally every fucking teaspoon I got is of a different size than the next.

A ½ tsp measurement on the other hand is always 2.5 ml.

>go to Shart Mart to buy measuring spoons
>buy the pack that includes the 1/2 tsp because it's cheaper than buying the individual tsp
Why are Germans so bad at math?

But no recipe is ever so precise that you'd really need exactly 2,5ml of something.
Or are you so autistic that you follow recipes to the point where you season your food according to the cookbook?

This, desu.
Its easy too cook just "feeling" the required amounts.
Or, you now, seasoning/mixing to Taste and consistency like any actual cook is capable of.

> It autofilters to "Desu"

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I'm just saying that the reason it exists. I don't use one myself, I just wing it most of the time.

we get triggered by your stupidity.

>american
>cook
Pick one.
Putting meat on a grill isn't cooking.

...

Wait...does Europe not use measuring cups?
What do they use than?

nah, he pretty much means "you dont have to be an autist about it. Scale the proportions if you aren't sure about exact measurments."

Millilitres

grams and mililitres lol.

what is wrong with this? is it too simple for le advanced euro mind

>muh fractions
>it's more adapted to the human scale
>it makes us better at maths

Same and for the Euro's the glass ones usually have ml as well.

And you were ruled by Danes.

DELET

What really triggers me is how they measure the capacity of their refrigerators in EGGS

i mean, what the fuck america

>tfw 3500 egg masterrrace

>They do it this way bacause Americans cannot into fractions.
This is true.

Why is this such a big deal to non-burgers?

cultural differences, we were raised in a different manner and when we look at the way you measure things there is a cultural conflict

Then we rationalize this, and because the way we do it is more logical, we say its better

But in the end, ethnocentrism is wrong. People should respect these little differences between countries

But then again, banter is always fun

He's right, you know

whos right? the person i replied to wasnt making any statement

cultural relativism? yuck!
