Why does Europe insist on being friends with the Americans again?

It's time we admit openly that this is a one sided relationship with Americans benefiting from it way more than Europeans. What's more, insidious, sinister agreements like TTIP and CETA are gifted to us - for all intents and purposes Trojan horses, aimed specifically at weakening and undermining the European Union and sovereignty.

I mean, who needs enemies with friends like them?

Cause the EU was the brainchild of post-war American economists + European liberals.

>Why does Europe insist on being friends with the Americans again?

All leaks about TTIP were proposals by the americans that would have never passed.
International courts are the only way to protect trade deals from turning into a protectionism fest where countries fuck over the foreign companies.
Only dumb commies oppose free trade.

>TTIP
You might want to look at an American newspaper, it's not popular and it's even come up as an election issue.

The krauts export a lot of stuff to us as do other European countries so I'm not sure how interacting with us is bad.

How does Germany spend that much money and still have a joke of a military?

TTIP is an advancement. I fucking hate all those socialists with their protectionism like OP who are against TTIP.

Corruption and incompetence from what I understand it.

It would be a huge moneysink for them to modernize a lot of their military. So a lot of it just goes to rot while the rest is spent on upkeep and logistics.

per capita we spend more, so bitch please

Alot of it is R&D. They sell alot more military equipment than they buy for themselves.

M8, it's dead. Congress wants it passed even less than the EU nowadays and both Trump and Hillary took a 180 degree turn to oppose it.

Nobody pays for NATO because everyone in Europe realized it is completely pointless and a total waste of money

>TTIP is an advancement.
For spreading corporate abuse? yes

You can talk when you hit NATO's 2% spending target.

Only Gary Johnson is for the TTIP, but I don't think it's dead though, we will have it later.

YOU can talk when you hit NATO's 2% per capita spending target.

Our governments don't view each other as true competitors in the long run. Neither do the American people frankly.

It's the European populists/extreme liberal electorate that are skeptical of this relationship. The problem is that Europe isn't as competitive on a global scale as they once were. So they lend false credibility to their domestic power in hopes of maximizing what they perceive as sovereignty. The reality is that if they had their way they'd be mitigating their competitiveness on the global scale. That's why all roads tend toward free trade, vs the nationalist isolationism that some demographics in europe want.

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of petty squabbles at the international level. France going after Google and Apple on bullshit reasons is one example. In that instance, they didn't break a fucking law. They "violated the spirit of the law" and were thus fined. In return, the US fucks VW and all is right with the world once again. This is just one pertinent example of contemporary trade-skepticism that has thus far stopped TTIP. But it'll pass, as it always does. If it doesn't then we'll get fucked by Asia.

Montana can toss in $10 and be at $10 per capita, but does that make them useful?

>because everyone in Europe realized it is completely pointless
Not really, European nations are extreamly resistent to the idea of breaking down NATO, something that guaranteed them protection in the past. That's part of the reason why Trump is considered so dangerous.

NATO's spending target is 2% of GDP, not per capita pastanigger.

This is all you need.

The reason is simple. Money.

Politicians have a job for 4 to 8 years. They earn an okay-ish salary and will then be unemployed.
So they get offered a job for after their career if they just listen to lobby groups. If you get paid after your political career it isn't corruption.

That's also why Dutch politicians get jobs at airplane companies and Shell after their career.

I for one would welcome Trump as the next American president. Hillary is a tool, a compulsive liar and a corporate whore.

Trump is an idiot but at least he's honest about it.

welcome to the club, hungarianon

Why doesn't USA sign a free trade agreement with China?

Lol what a bunch of uncompetitive pussies.
