I would visit Japan, but it is expensive and I do not know your language except for a few phrases. So an ideal trip would involve hiking, visiting bars/restaurants, and going to a few stores with someone who could speak English (and not steal my purse).

The definition of し is different on both of these pages. I learned that し means から
but し implies the reason is one of
(possibly) many. This is the meaning in the second link (Tae Kim). The first translates し to "and." For example, the sentence
今日はテニスもしたし、映画も見た
appears in the first link. There it is translated as
"I not only played tennis but also saw a movie today."
I would have translated this as
"Today I played tennis, therefore I saw a movie."
My question is, which translations are correct?

If a speaker's intention is to clearly state a reason, he uses 「から」.
It's contextual, but I tend to use し as "and" and "but also" as explained in the link you mentioned.
