Many Rumeli did well for themselves and rose to the highest positions in the Osmanli Imparatorlugu. I get why you might dislike it, but it's part of your history and your identity.

1600s-1700s Europe, especially Eastern Europe, wasn't remarkable. Egypt, Iraq, Persia and Syria in comparison were much more valuable than the Balkans.
