I heard this album when I was 17 and it didn't seem that weird to me, but when I first heard Death Grips a year later I thought they were the weirdest thing ever. TMR is less inaccessible than Death Grips.

Seems like a pretty inevitable evolution from Delta blues and free jazz. The way the instrumental parts twist themselves freely is always interesting and fun to listen to.
