Dave Grohl's The Food Fighters Are A Mediocre Band From A Shit Rock Music Subgenre

yet Everlong is (objectively) one of the greatest pop songs ever written.

How did he do it lads? What's that oh-so-satisfying chord? Someone with knowledge of music please explain why this song sounds so good.

he killed kurt and absorbed his powers

he has dentures

...

he did it by NOT having knowledge of music
interesting things can happen if you have little idea what you're doing and no structure

First post best post.
Kurt wasn't allowing him tonwrote songs for Nirvana so Dave Killed him and springboarded his solo career.

Rock-and-roll is supposed to be edgy, sexual, and offend parents. Foo Fighters do not "rock" and there is nothing faintly edgy about them. They're ultra-bland, totally mainstream radio rock listened to by 40 year old office drones while working out on a treadmill.

holy shit

I hat ehim so much

Foos have some legitimately great songs (it. Everlong, Stacked Actors, etc.) but Dave is not a super duper lyricist and has no desire for experimentation

the closest he got to changing up his sound was Probot, which was pretty good but the best song was the goofy one with Jack Black

Can't tell if this is satire or autism

The Colour and The Shape is full of great pop grunge.

The thing is The Colour... thematically for the most part very personal, dealing a lot with Grohl's divorce from his first wife Jennifer. The songwriting was a step up from the self-titled debut (which definitely has its moments) and the record was a huge hit in alternative circles but also with mainstream appeal in the singles. Thanks to the singles, Grohl's status was cemented as a bonafide rock star. Knowing he'd now peaked, the only way forward for Grohl was to embrace the mainstream even further and start writing middle of the road rock that would sell millions of records and appeal to huge stadium audiences.

Popular doesn't mean good. Or even more accurately, you liking it doesn't mean it's good.

They had a couple semi-decent albums but back in the 90's they were not that praised. I'm pretty sure Coldplay got more popular... Difference is guy has charisma, but his band is trasherino. Not better than Garbage or The Offspring

Linkin Park is even more innovative than Foo "every song is the same" FIghters

This is true actually. With no knowledge of music, you are forced to rely on your ears. And by doing so you either create something interesting or utter crap.

he also played the guitar (or treated it as) like a drum. Thats propably why the guitar has short strokes in everlong

that fucking rating system...

that fucking hook on Exhausted makes me laugh everytime

Add the 9th note... And what actually makes the song so magical is how tight the mix is
