Is there such thing socialist/Marxist/anarchist music that isn't corny as shit?
Asking specifically about hip-hop, but other genres welcome. I'm already p familiar with anarcho-punk

Ah yeah I should have phrased "anarcho-punk" as "punk associated with anarchism" instead
I love AJJ. They were the first band to get me into punk, and subsequently a lot of other genres beyond indie rock
Thanks, man
I'll give the album a full listen
Stereolab is what you're after
this song is plainly marxist and done tastefully: youtube.com
listen to Mars Audiac Quintet, art rock with socialist lyrics start to finish
You probably already know but anything stza related is great.
Gang of Four
My favorite socialism anthem
digable planets aren't that corny
He said music that ISN'T corny as shit
I've had stereolab in my backlog forever, but never really checked them out. Loved this, tho. Exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for
Definitely! I was just listening to choking victim last week
Apparently they're playing in my city next month. Maybe I'll try and go
Choking Victim is great I don't know what you're on.
i just want (you) to know that i fucking hate you for calling digable planets corny
Nah I was posting them as an example of what I want to find similar stuff like
Digible Planets are like the epitome of not-corny
>tfw right wing and love all these bands
I knew they have different political views anyway but still.
Minutemen
How the hell is socialism and anarchism related? One demands strict government that controls and influences all aspects of the society, the other is against any control.

study and surpass yourself
>Americans.
The idea of anarchism is not that there is nobody in charge and everyone does what they want, but rather that there is a social order, a harmony that is created by the people themselves of their own accord.
It's basically socialism without the government forcing you.
>Political albums
>not corny
Pick one

do you really think that will work? anarchism is literally an angsty teenage fantasy, harmony can't exist because sociopaths exist and "social order" (read: unofficial laws) will lead to so much corruption and awfulness. dumbass
Stereolab are my favorite band of all time. All of their early albums are charged with genuinely tasteful and non-cheesy political agenda
>hip hop
>music
pick one
Lets play spot the arrogant high school dropout
The Threepenny Opera
Sole's Mansbestfriend albums.
Lmao he's a high school drop out bc he has a basic grasp of human nature and logic?? I bet u have an AJJ patch on ur backpack don't u
This is wack -youtu.be
''Movits!'' but they sing in swedish
womyn-fronted bands of the 70s hailed 2nd wave feminism and anarcho-lesbianism as a political movement away from American capitalism and heteropatriarchy. A lot of their politics aligned with socialism / anarchy. That colliding with punk music made some pretty great albums, especially as that affected the late 70s early 80s.
...
come at me
came here to say this
>do you really think that will work?
No.
Not him, but I used to be an anarchist before I realized that anarchist just want to establish a state without calling it a state. I still agree with restructuring the state to be more decentralized and democratic, but I now firmly believe that seizing the state and using it as a tool to transition into socialism is the only way. Anarchism also relies far to much on morality as an excuse for overthrowing capitalism (hierarchy theory's main argument is that hierarchy is unjust), which appealed to me when I was younger, but Marxism provides me with answers beyond cabitalizm iz ebil.
The Clash. Their post-London Calling albums (Sandinista and Combat Rock) are probably their most political
Speaking of Sweden
>isn't corny as shit
this is pop ska trash
Speaking of The Clash, Manic Street Preaches also apply. Specially their early stuff.
oh yeah, sorry
You just haven't experienced the right kind of corny Marxist music.
